Spent a long weekend at the Kestor Inn, celebrating my wife's birthday. We stayed in the downstairs room, located at the rear of the premises, we found it to be very comfortable with everything we could need. The staff are very accommodating and go out of their way to make sure you have a pleasant stay. The food served in the Kestor Inn was high quality at reasonable prices and having breakfast included in the package was an added bonus. Situated in Dartmoor national park, Kestor is an ideal base to explore.

Firstly, not being able to check in until 5:30pm was a shock and not a great start to our holiday! It’s great to see vegan food on the menu but ordering a vegan burger and it arriving without a bun and no apology or explanation is disappointing! We stayed for four nights; for the most part breakfasts consisted of a meagre, child-like portion. We only wanted vegan items from the vegetarian breakfast (why not make that vegan - with vegan not vegetarian sausages and without the eggs?) and literally only got what the non-vegans would get; we’re saving you money on meat products so extras of each vegan item would have been appreciated. We were left hungry after breakfast. Even when we specifically asked for beans on toast with two slices of toast, we only received one slice with beans on and the other on a side plate! Baked beans are really not expensive! Breakfast portions seem very mean! (I think one morning there was a different chef who was generous and we got extra items that morning which really filled us up). The shower in our en-suite does not drain properly so we had to stand in our own water! We would have reported these issues at the time but there was no quiet way of doing this as there's no reception area! We did not feel comfortable reporting issues at the bar or in the breakfast room! Friendly staff and lovely room and pub but would not stay again for the reasons above.

First time in this wonderful place. We recieved such a warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble. It's in a fantastic location with stunning views. The atmosphere and decor was so comfortable which made it even more enjoyable. We had the stuffed pork belly with creamy mash & veg which was masterchef quality. Their speciality gravy (which we were offered more of) was so delicious. The prices were good also. We can't wait to come back and stay here. Gary, James and Julie doing a fantastic job. Visited the Kestor Inn on a couple of occasions recently whilst staying in Manaton - and also had a Sunday carvery "takeaway" - would recommend as the food was of a very good quality and was very reasonably priced. Decor inside is very nice (think it has been recently renovated) and tables spaced very well (which we found useful as we had 2 nervous dogs with us). Landlord and staff were very friendly and we were made to feel welcome. If we returned to that part of Devon, would definite visit again

Excellent Inn within the Dartmoor national park area. Tight lanes and miles away from any town make this a lovely quiet area. The staff were outstanding. The landlord witty (made me chuckle a few times) and the chef really nice guy, breakfast sausages were amazing (his own recipe!!) Parking easy and a nice warm fire always burning away to keep your cockles warm. The views from the room were outstanding showing the roaming hills of Dartmoor. We highly recommend the Kestor and if you are looking for a base to explore Dartmoor then this is the place to do it. Excellent price for the budget weary traveller but you certainly get a lot more for your money. For those who like getting from A to B quickly and don't like the odd tractor or two, or Dartmoor ponys here or there on the road for that matter then perhaps closer to the A30/A38 would be better for you. (that makes you a little boring though doesn't it) For those who like the slow pace of the countryside and local village pub feeling then book this lovely place now.

Having just moved into the area, we have had the pleasure of visiting this very good establishment a few times for meals and their quiz nights. Both are very good. Our first experience was last November, we chose the Ham hock, a 'sharing meal' for two, it was so large that we took 3/4 of it home and we both had another 3 meals from it. We've been back a couple of times since that and so far have been very pleased with the place. Returning again tonight for food and quiz this time. Yippee!

Set in Dartmoor, the drive is simply wonderful. If you’re approaching from Bovey Tracey (which is the approach I’d recommend given the size of some of the other roads) It’s well worth stopping at a car park you’ll find on the way, with spectacular views and beautiful horses just mooching around. The pub itself is very welcoming. It’s a good, old fashioned décor. Very nice beer, very reasonably priced. We certainly weren’t the only ones to make the journey out there, and everyone seemed glad they had. About half an hour from Exeter but very much in a different world, absolutely fantastic for walking. We stayed on the car park with Britstops, and if you do that, you know how nice it is when the people running the pub are pleasant and helpful. He even gave us directions over the phone because sat nav can be unreliable (google maps actually did us right, though). There is a local shop run from the pub to stock up on supplies. Friendly, well behaved dogs are welcome, but ours were being neither of those things at that moment in time, so we sat on a little porch outside and enjoyed the countryside.

I have been coming here for many years, mainly with a local hash house harriers running club, and I've got to say this is without a doubt the best pub not just on Dartmoor but in the whole of devon. It is a beautiful pub in a stunning remote setting. Whenever I go there is always a great atmosphere and Maurice and his team do an excellent job at accomodating their customers and they have been extremely good to me and the hashers over the years, right from the amazing food to the events and parties that we have hosted at the Kestor. Cannot fault this pub at all. Thank you Maurice for your continued excellent work, service and hospitality. I cannot thank and praise you enough. See you soon. Avatar

We walked to the pub at lunchtime over a bank holiday weekend and decided to order a carvery meal. Despite the lunch sitting being close to ending the staff went out of their way to prepare extra fresh vegetables and really tried hard to ensure the meal was not lacking.
