The Jolly Fryer in Conwy

We only had the cheesy chips on this visit (but twice) hence the 4 stars. They were great, well cooked and good portions with a decent amount of cheese. Would go back if we visit the area again 😊

We had fish and chips, very well fried and plentiful £7.90 regular and £5.20 for a small. The service was ok and cheerful, however the lady that was frying seemed quite stressed

I won a 2 fish and chips with mushy peas meals in a raffle. They were the best fish and chips going. The fish was thick and meaty. The chips were well cooked. I will be going there again

Chips are perfect, very popular with locals and service is excellent. We stop by occasionally and have only had positive experiences

A large order sorted out in good time and good sized portions, all enjoyed by our family camping at Platts Farm.

I have tried fish n chips for other chip shops in the area and in my opinion this is the best fish n chips on the North Wales coast. The portions are ample and the price is right and the customer service is second to none. Always with a smile and friendly chat. Well worth a visit.

Lovely crispy fish and chunky chips served in a cardboard box. Kept hot on the beach! Only open from 5 till 8 so don't be late!

Staff are lovely and polite however the food is very basic I've! I've ordered chips from here a few times and on each occasion they are very salty. If you want gravy or curry sauce I'd ask for extra as it is literally a droplet. Worst part is it's far to pricey for such average tasting food. I was charge just over £19 for two chips and gravy with two chicken burgers, I questioned the price and was told it was correct.

Excellent service and such polite staff. Placed a telephone order and food was ready when I arrived. The fish, chips, mushy peas snd curry sauce was delicious. Highly recommend.

Went to this chippy twice when staying in Llanfairfechan. I had fish and peas both times and it was delicious - cooked to order - best I have tasted. Can't believe anyone would give it 1 star. Good social distancing measures and prices and portion size no different from my local chippy. (which isn't as good) Yes, you have to spend a certain amount to pay by card, but I had no problem paying cash. Screens are in place and the staff were very friendly. Would recommend if in the area.

Not many chippys have a card reader, but this one does. As long as you spend £15 or more. Poor portion size for the money and tasteless peas. Clearly priced for tourism and not a tradesmans lunch break.

This use to be a great place for food not any more new owners and the food is poorthe chips are like dried wood from reheating old chips very poor and waiting ages for your food 15 mins at that time scale you would expect fresh food and not c-ap this is the second time in 8 weeks

It has to be said, this fish and chips is amongst the best I have ever had. Fish perfectly cooked, fresh tasting and a light crispy batter. Hot tasty chips with a touch of crispiness and not greasy. Lightly seasoned with salt and vinegar. Wrapped in a polystyrene tray so they didn't dampen our laps or enthusiasm whilst sat on a promenade bench munching away and watching the embers of the sunset.So, in answer to my question, I very much doubt it, and having just moved to the area, we are so pleased about that!

There was a long que in the shop so I told the gentleman behind the counter that I was going to order 3 large cods so he could get them in the fryer but he said he couldn't put them in until I had got down the line to make my order. One customer getting served every 5 minutes. Bad organisation. Took 40 minutes from entering the shop to leaving.

Very pleasant visit to the Jolly Fryer. There were 5 of us who sat in to eat one lunchtime after a walk. Staff were very friendly food was cooked to order. Everything was hot and well cooked from the fish and pies. To chips and mushy peas. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was very good. Would definitely recommend.

The food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing. We especially enjoyed ourselves at The Jolly Fryer. Personnel were very well trained, accommodating and helpful (all done with a smile). Everything was handled with efficiency and attention to every detail was given. I will definitely make a comeback! Kudos :)

We bought fish & chips one night then pie & chips another. All food was cooked fresh to order and was delicious. The proprietors are a husband & wife team who are very friendly and anxious to please their customers. We would highly recommend The Jolly Fryer.

New owners have brought a breath of fresh air - and a paint brush. Bright, stylish decor and a well laid out chalk board with all the prices and items grace the back wall. Friendly service, good food ... brilliant

The food here is good. Fish always cooked fresh - though on a Friday there can be quite a queue because of that. The owner rarely smiles and is pretty miserable though. Decor very dated.

I go there fairly often, they have decent prices and I really love some of their food. The staff are friendly and the service is quick.

allways have a lovely fish or chicken from here. good service,could do with trays with lids not half a tray though. would love spicy curry on the menu instead of fruity . sometimes chips are too sweet and poor quality. fish allways fresh and cooked to order.

Basic chip shop with a small seated area, run by a friendly Chinaman! Usual range of food for small chip restaurant. Decor not inspiring BUT.....I enjoyed the fish and chips we had.

Combined with the seafront view, this turned out to be a five star experience.

Though the decor is a bit dated and looks as though it’s still in the 1980s, don’t let it put you off as the fish and chips was very good - fish lightly battered. Just under a fiver too.

Best fish and chips around, plain and simple. Having been let down by Oceans I went here for fish and chips but needed to run up to the Co-op for GF sausages and asked if I could order and come back for the order in 10 minutes. This was no problem and when I came back, despite a long queue, my order was ready and given to me without a wait.

Had a while to wait and then not very good, chips were not cooked and a bit hard, fish was not up to he standard we are used to in Yorkshire

Got some fish cakes , potato scallops and mini spring rolls and they were all good. Took them down the road and ate overlooking the ocean. Service was friendly and reasonable prices .

Fish chips and gravy for me with the batter not nice and the gravy watery. Not the best portion size either. Kids sausage and chips ordered for kids and was also average Best thing was driving to the end of the road and eating it...

Chicken or cheese burgers n salad please and all you get is bloody lettuce. Why just why. If i just wanted lettuce thats what i would of asked for tomato or cucumber would not of been missed.aslo two chicken burgers and two sausage £8

Treated a visitor yesterday and the comment was "best fish and chips I have ever had." We ate in the restaurant which is basic, comfortable and clean and we all had the fish and chips with mushy peas. Huge pieces of fish covered in thin crispy batter and cooked to perfection, served with tasty chips. Very nice meal and friendly service. Highly recommend.

We were on the way back from the Beach and fancied some chips. it doesn't look much from the outside but the man couldn't recommend more even if he tried. The food was hot and the chips were excellent. Whilst I was waiting which wasn't very long he had a few more customers, The place could do with a lick of paint but I can't see it getting that busy which is a real shame as he puts all his heart into it. Whenever i'm passing i always buy chips now. Deffo worth a try

chips were dry and slightly underdone and pie was not enjoyable at all, bought at 5.30pm and have been several times and have been very disapointed

Though yes owned by Chinese people this is not a Chinese. This does get confused for the Chinese and vice versaHere you can eat inside and you can see them cooking. The Chinese next door is takeaway only and you can not see them cooking.Sadly not a fan had heart burn each time I've been here I'm not a big chippy fan anyway but partner prefers others too. I try now just to have potatoe scallops not chips from here as they seem stale. Battered cod yep heartburn, the breaded plaice though seems huge!! Your in luck if your a plaice fan.I'll just travel to enochs and use the microwave when I get home!!

Always excellent fish and the best chips...if at the harvest Moon next door which is also very good, pop here for their chips....very friendly service too

Been in here 3 times over the last year, usually when we have had a busy day and no time to cook a meal. Each time the chips have been hard, undercooked. Pies microwaved, sausages VERY cheap discount version. It's just not worth it. Won't go in again, shame we don't have a decent chippy in this village any more

Now the only chippy in Llanfairfechan and what a disappointment! Chips can be stale at times and pies are microwaved. Generally poor quality.

Got food from here twice during our week on holiday so can't be that bad! Fish and chips first time - fish slightly greasy but cooked fresh and not over cooked. Chip portions are big! Steak pudding second time - you don't see that in many chippies anymore and it made a nice change. Gravy was lovely.

We went with the grandkids (and their Mum and Dad!) for takeaway fish and chips......having lived abroad for a few years, we wanted the children to have the experience of fish and chips at the seaside........the fish was really fresh and tasty, chips were hot and not at all greasy (which is sometimes the case)..........a very enjoyable experience.

Two visits in one week, must be good! A good old fashioned, honest 'chippy', fish cooked to order and never fails to satisfy.

I should have trusted my senses when I entered this Chinese Chipshop and sat down at one of the tables. It was 545pm. The place was empty and the decor and tables needed bringing into the 21st century. I then foolishly ordered fish and chips with a pot of tea. I am certain the owner thought I was a tourist and anything would do. The over battered item placed in front of me was overcooked, dry, and i struggled to find any fish within it. The chips were terrible. On leaving I was asked by the owner for my views and I told him the meal was awful as above. Not wanting an argument I paid the £6 40p and left. Obviously the locals are aware and stay away. It is a shame there isnt another chip shop in the town.
