The Jolly Friar in Basildon

I waited to get served at the bar and the bar staff were serving there locals before me, although I was standing there for ages. Also the tables and bar is always sticky and the toilets smell.

Best part of the area food is very good all bar staff friendly courteous. Nice outside space and a lot of entertainment on bank holidays and over weekends highly recommend

Staff charming. Very clean pub but unfortunately the chef needs training. The Chicken was like either. Seemed to be rebooked not fresh. The flavourings had been poured on instead of brushed. Not an enjoyable meal.

Despite living nearby for over 30yrs this was our first visit. Wanted to have lunch out somewhere that allowed dogs inside - like we do when away on holiday. We where given a lovely welcome, the food was fantastic. We will certainly be going back.

The Jolly Friar has great music, great staff, great drinks, great food, great garden/indoors and great atmosphere. Love this pub.

i visisted last saturday and to say the least it was amazing, all the staff were amaxing but i'd specifically like to thank tracey, she was an angel aand really made my night amazing, we were originally seated in the shade which was making us freezing as we were catching the brunt of the breeze, she the found us a table which was warmer and was very attentive, checked up on us regularly despite how busy it was, such a credit to the team, super polite and maintained a positive vibe, she was well and truly amazing! thank you :)

We ate at the Jolly Friar on a Saturday lunchtime. Staff were very nice and attentive, but the food was very subpar and we won't be going back. You'd be better off going to Wetherspoons.

A sunny afternoon and a chance to eat in the garden. Ordered by app. A bit of a mix up over order but staff were pleasant enough and apologized. Fairly limited menu but what we had was well cooked and presented. Service was good and the two meals for £13.00 offered very good value. Down side was clientele in the garden. Children left to run around without suppervision and some very Loud Adults. (More reminiscent of closing time on a friday night) Not conjusive to a quiet meal. Offputting to the point we are unlikely to return. Sorry.

I joined some friends there last January to celebrate my birthday and I have really enjoyed it a lot! Lovely place, nice atmosphere, food,drinks and staff, children friendly also. Definetely I will do it again as soon as I can.

Lovely open plan pub, staff were friendly, good range of beer and drinks, great pub food at reasonable prices, dog friendly, lots of car parking spaces, sky sports being shown on various tv's.

I’ve had a few meals here and they have all been great it’s a great pub with a good atmosphere the governor is a smashing fellow with a great team of staff.

From what this pub was just over a year ago, to what it is now is short of remarkable. The pub now has live music, live sport inc all the premier games, amazing food menu including Sunday Roasts & Midweek deals, new TVs, huge projector screens for the main events and family fun days with bouncy castles and BBQs . What more do you want from a family run pub 10/10. Staff have always been 10/10 too.

The food is lovely! I have come here on several occasions on a work lunch break and the food comes out quick, fresh and reasonably priced. Big green area outside so the children can play.
