This lovely Pub has been completely turned around since the present owners have been there. The atmoshere is fantastic and the staff are very friendly and helpful. It is so nice to have a place to go for any occasion. The food is always freshly cooked and you would have to be very picky indeed to find fault with the quality as for us it is always cooked to perfection. We have been to several funerals there and the food has always been very good and well presented and the staff are always very respectful and helpful. The BBQs in the summer have been really good fun and it's so nice to relax in their lovely garden. We have enjoyed them very much and are looking forward to more next summer. So in summary, this is a great pub with great staff and we are very lucky to have it as our local. :)

Great service, brilliant atmosphere and an amazing Roast!

Excellent meal more than enough beef was perfect as everything else and reasonable in price for what is served topped by delicious pudding rhubarb crumble loved by all of us. One more observation at Jobbers you do not leave feeling hungry.

Unfortunately showing cask mark but no real ales on apart from Doom Bar but that was also on the turn undrinkable. Staff were very good shame about the ales disappointing

Really lovely pub. Great large garden. They allow dogs which is so amazing, not many places around Upminister and Hornchurch allow this. The food portions were incredible, I couldn’t finish mine. The staff were so attentive and welcoming, even though it was very busy. Will return!

We had my mums wake here recently, all the staff were lovely and so very helpful, the food was amazing, everyone that came said how lovely it was so thankyou all.we shall be returning on happier times

Excellent meal last night in a very busy bar. Menu and food was first class. Bar was very busy but service never wavered for a moment. Really great team front and back of house.

Visited the Jobbers Rest for a sunday roast, the food was very good, came out quickly and such good value for money, the beef was absolutely stunning as were the roast potatoes, honestly i was very impressed by them but my Yorkshire pudding was cold though, the menu said bottomless roast and Yorkshire puddings but the staff just ignored us, they weren’t attentive at all, when we ordered at the bar the staff was also very distracted by other members of staff. Really ruined the experience.

Firstly, my husband and I often dine at The Jobbers Rest due to its quality food and service. We even had our pre wedding family/friends meal there 7 years ago. For Valentines Day we chose The Jobbers Rest, Cranham after viewing the Valentines menu. We both loved the look of the pasta starter, rack of lamb mains and the trio of soufflés for dessert. All of which are not available on the A La Carte menu. When we arrived at the restaurant for our 8.15pm table we were both surprised there were no valentines decorations whatsoever. Okay, no big deal I suppose but it would have been nice. The waiter took our drinks order and we ordered from the special Valentines printed menu on the table with my husband saying “this will be easy, my wife and I want all three courses from the Valentines menu”. The waiter then informed us only the starter was available from that offer!! because they had ‘run out of the lamb and soufflés’. The excuse was the offer had been running from the 12th February and ‘the kitchen staff had not ordered enough in’. My husband was required to pay a £20 deposit at the time of booking and we assumed this was to guarantee the Valentines Day offer. Obviously this was not the waiters fault and he was so apologetic. To say we were feeling deflated is an understatement. I approached a Manager and explained our disappointment. I was further disappointed by his dismissive attitude. As it was too late to go anywhere else we decided to stay and reluctantly choose alternative options from the a la carte. When our mains arrived the waiter presented my husband with the rack of lamb saying “I’m so surprised! They managed to find a spare rack of lamb”. So, happy days! Even though it was only for my husband (he did offer to swap with me, bless him) As we later pondered on the dessert option my husband noticed a waiter walking through the restaurant with two trio of soufflés. He questioned this with a manager having been told they weren’t available. 10/15 minutes later we were each presented with the soufflés. Apparently, the chefs were preparing them for the following day (Mmmm, I thought they had ran out 🤔). Hurrah! You might think but feeling deflated just intensified when, as we both tucked in, we discovered each soufflé was uncooked. They were completely runny inside. The soufflés disappeared back to the kitchen followed by profuse apologies from the waiter and Manager. When a further batch, (yep! They surrendered more soufflés) arrived I am pleased to say mine were all cooked perfectly but one of my husbands was still uncooked. By now we were so fed up and I think more so by the drama of being told options weren’t available when clearly they were. Now, I’m not a restauranteur but I’m sure if I was and I was offering a particular menu for an occasion I would enquire at the time of taking a booking if the customer would be ordering the ‘specials’ menu or from the a la carte. It’s not rocket science and as they say “the customer is always right”. Joking aside, we will not be choosing The Jobbers Rest for any future special occasions. Such a shame because this has let them down.

First visit to The Jobber's Rest- what a pleasant surprise! The food was delicious- the duck especially was so tasty. The staff were great, very helpful. Definitely will return!

First time visiting Jobber's Rest. The food and drinks menu composition looked very nice, like you'd expect a gastropub. We ordered the duck and pheasant. Disappointingly, they were very overcooked and dry, not worth the price (£23ish?). The blackberry sauce from the duck dish didn't have any hint of blackberry, it felt like the dish was sitting in the kitchen for awhile, as the skin was soggy. Seasoning was good though. Not sure if I'd return for the food, although we only tried 2 dishes out of many others available.

Had lunch with a friend here yesterday and took advantage of their 50% off mains deal. Lovely place, nicely decorated inside, staff and food were great - can't fault them!

We had a meal for our Nans 90th birthday and it was very busy however it took 3 hours for our main and desserts. I know the staff were busy but we had drinks missing when we first ordered. When the mains came out they were missing mine and another family members, when they did come out I had ordered chicken and it was cold when I cut inside it was all pink so had to send it back. I then asked for a different meal off the menu and by the time it arrived the rest of our party had finished theirs. We ordered desserts and we waited a long time for them also and didn't get the drinks we had ordered for a while! When we got the bill we had been charged for both of my meals! We spoke to our waiter who had taken over half way through our visit who was really nice and rectified our bill. The staff were lovely and obviously very busy but it wasn't a great experience.

Well worth the visit and definitely coming back. The new menu was amazing, Guinea Fowl was full of flavour and the pastry casing crisp and buttery. The soufflé is worth the visit in its own right. The Chicken supreme was perfectly cooked and the mash was smooth and creamy. I went for the Pork Ribeye And must say this blew my mind. Think it was Sousvide then caramelised for a crispy finish, amazing, defo gonna try to replicate this. Staff was lovely, very attentive but not in your face. Made the visit feel special for our date night. Meal was very reasonable priced and the Merlot wine was defo worth getting two bottles 😂

We had my mother in laws 80th birthday here with a party of 29 family members. everyone had starters, main course and deserts and I can honestly say the service, staff and where we had been seated was absolutely first class. Even though we had a large group we didn’t have to wait for food at all. The caterer that supplied a birthday cake flowers and balloons was let in before the venue opened to set up the cake stand and balloons and flowers. This large group was catered for excellently. The staff and the manager was first class and a credit to The Heartwood group. The catering staff the food they produced was amazing. My personal choice was sirloin steak medium rare. And that was what I got it was amazing. Most places never get it right but this occasion it was first class. Everyone in the group was very impressed with the service food and atmosphere and stated that they would be back. One family had come from Dubai and said whenever they are over they will visit The Jobbers rest for meals. There is a large car park with disabled spaces just near the main door.

We had an amazing lunch with 18 of our family members, the surroundings and the atmosphere were very delightful. The staff were very attentive and the food was delicious. The jobbers rest is always a sure bet and always very clean

Best roast I've ever had (and ive had a lot!). All the staff were exceptional. Plus it's dog friendly! Lovely atmosphere suitable for all. Cant recommend enough.

We went for a Sunday large with our families. This is a lovely pub with fresh and tasty food. Selection of drinks was also great. The roast dinners were generous portion sizes and everyone really enjoyed it. Will definitely return andook forward to sitting in the large beer garden once summer arrives!

We chose the Jobbers Rest for a family get-together as it’s a fairly central point for us, with everyone driving around two hours to meet up. Based on the glowing reviews and fantastic menu options, we had high expectations—and I’m delighted to say it absolutely lived up to the hype! Tom was an absolute star—friendly, attentive, incredibly helpful, and very well presented! He made us feel so welcome and ensured everything ran smoothly. The food was delicious, with generous portions and beautifully presented dishes, and the drinks menu offered an excellent selection to suit everyone’s tastes. It’s rare to find a place that ticks all the boxes for such a mixed group, but the Jobbers Rest managed it effortlessly. We all left with full stomachs, big smiles, and a promise to come back. Highly recommend!

Great place for a midweek lunch.

Absolutely loved this restaurant. Can't fault it. The pistachio souffle is an absolute must if you go there. Think it is the best dessert I have ever had (and trust me, I've eaten a lot of desserts). They were also very thorough in checking for and accommodating my food intolerance.

Went for Sunday lunch based on the reviews and was so disappointed with the Sunday lunch. Potatoes didn't taste like home made, veggie option was horrible and the vegetables were all cold. Wouldn't recommend.

Not going back! One of the courses arrived after all the others. The mash was too runny. The dessert, their Autumn still life, was expensive for what it is and really a bit weird, possibly the worst dessert I've ever had. On a positive note, they've got a big car park so no problems parking! Looks like they only reply to reviews telling them they're wonderful!

Attended for a 70th party. Had a lovely area put aside for us all. Had a small intimate room also for the food and cake, and access to the garden terrace which was undercover. Nice place to visit. They all run around after us all making us comfortable. Good food provided. Good selection of drinks. Would return.

Nice pub lovely wine but the food was poor. Had pan fried chicken in a “ mustard sauce”with mash n green beans. Certainly couldn’t taste mustard in the watery sauce and had about 2 grren beans chopped up in 6 pieces. I’ve had better food served in Wetherspoons

Although I only had one drink the pub felt comfortable and friendly. Service was good and efficient. Nice, warm atmosphere.

Overly expensive for what you get

This place is absolutely fantastic it's the third time we've been here, we came it won't be the last. All outside tables "full". Would not serve food to empty tables that were reserved for drinks only customers. Crazy.

Went for my Mums birthday, called on a busy Friday night to add people to our table, the girl on the phone was super helpful. When we turned up every single member of staff had a smile on their face, our waitress was amazing (we were sat in the outside dining area, which was lovley) Food was fabulous too, lovely garden for the kids and dog friendly. Win win

Went on a day when no cards were being taken due to fault. Lunch menu very limited didn't like most of the options. Was going to have the steak strip but this was unavailable. Had a burger a bit too pink bur it was good. Staff great.

Took far too long to be served. When we finally got some table service, then the drinks order took another long while. Portion of food was very small for the price. We will not visit here again.

Absolutely amazing food, with friendly staff and a pretty outside area. Vegan choices were delicious. I've dropped a star as it was unbearably hot when we were there. Please get your air conditioning sorted out so we can come back with friends and family.

Popular venue judging by the speed on which the tables filled during our lunchtime visit on a Monday. Tastefully decorated. Friendly and helpful staff. Relaxed atmosphere, our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu, gave us loads of time to make our choices and was happy to provide additional items to the dish selected. The food was freshly prepared and good sized portions. As the restaurant filled up, the noise of conversations increased due to the hardwood floor and surfaces - this isn't a complaint, just an observation from a person who's starting to become hard of hearing. There wasn't any pressure to hurry and we had a thoroughly positive experience. There is a large tarmac carpark to the side of the venue and another gravelled car park to the rear. There is a large garden for outdoor seating and our host mentioned tents. I noticed on the way out bowls containing dog biscuits and water, but I cannot confirm whether they are allowed inside. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the ambiance, but I would advise booking your table, or getting there very early.

Great food. Lovely, friendly and helpful staff all. Wonderful Vegan selection. Needs air conditioning! That is the only reason I’m not giving a full 5 stars. As Vegans we still struggle to get a decent meal out, without travelling miles and paying a fortune. We had 3 delicious courses here, at very reasonable prices. Just off the M25 too. Thank you too all staff.

A great pub. Plenty of parking and a warm welcome from the staff. It has a large garden and is kid friendly. Food was excellent and service was quick. All in all a good experience and value for money.

The service by our waitress was 6 start the food was extremely nice . My only complaint is the cauliflower cheese wasn’t cheesy enough, but that’s being picky

My friends and I have just walked out due to the worse service I have experienced. We never managed to get our main and it took a long while to get our starter, needless to say we won't be returning, definitely wouldn't recommend.

This is our favourite place to eat or drink in Upminster. A home from home ! The manager Roger goes above and beyond to make this pub special and he has a great staff behind him. 5 stars

This was our first visit but definitely won't be our last. Food was amazing. I've never had so many vegetarian options to choose from. Service was fantastic. Everyone made sure we had a great time and we felt really spoilt. On top of this it's dog friendly! We were shown to a great table which was out of the way enough that our dogs could relax and not impose on other diners but still in the heart of the pub. We will be back soon!

Very disappointing experience. As a Raymond Blanc gastro pub our expectations were high. Unfortunately the reality didn’t match our expectations. The dining area was tired , dated and in need of a revamp. The food was no better than average. We will not be returning.

We love the Jobbers and go here frequently. The food and service is always great. However we went a couple of weeks ago on a Tuesday evening (6.30) only to be told that quite a few options on the menu had sold out. I found that quite odd considering we weren’t even booked for a late dinner. I ordered The Hake but told it was cod because they had run out of Hake. My partner ordered the steak and ale pie and didn’t come with his tribute taster. My fish dish wasn’t great, there was a measly amount of veg with a watery sauce. Sorry Jobbers Rest, not impressed with this new menu, as we know how good the food has been previously.

Got a drink wrong but was very nice about it

The place is nice, clean etc. The food was lovely..... When it finally arrived. Which leads me to the only real downside. Although the staff were very friendly. The service was very slow. Food took forever, and whilst waiting I had to go to the bar myself to order more drinks. It didn't appear to be a particularly busy evening, otherwise I could have understood. Overall, I would ultimately recommend it here.
