Boshhhhhhhh Best Chinese I’ve had in years . Owner is lovely and made us feel so welcome . This will be now our local

Went in Nov23. Definitely worth a another visit in all respect. Went again in April24. The service can be rated more than 5*. Enjoyed the house Red. Capital Spare ribs were nice flavour, good size, meaty, juicy and tender. Next time would like to try the other choices of spare ribs on the menu. The sizzling prawns are very nice. The sauce has a very slight touch of sweetness that helps bring out the sweetness of the prawns (clever!). Again a good size portion and nice tender prawns that are not over cooked. The szechuan chicken is spicy hot. Personally would have enjoyed it more with bit more of flavour of than just heat. Loved the tender ginger pieces to in it along with other vegetables. Again a good size portion. Their chilli oil is the best I have had. Very fiery!! Will definitely visit again and again and sit at table2 (table for 2) when next in the area!

Nice place to have a meal great food and a very good selection of drinks from soft to alcohol also a great selection of desserts to. For the first time customer I was shocked at the bill being over £100 pounds. For me and my friend. Would I come back maybe.

This restaurant has and is an outstanding Chinese restaurant. Romford institution! Visited today and ate from the lunchtime menu £12.50 per person to pick off selected dishes menu sheet. Food came piping hot & freshly cooked & this also included tea/coffee. Excellent value for money

The food is obviously the best Chinese. That's a given. Not forgetting any boxers or families of them. The service, hospitality, care and humanity encapsulated both family, work ethic, altruism and expertise. I'll never order a take away from anywhere again. Plus if meeting a client, then done deal, with good food.

Cannot believe the amount of delusional people in the reviews, best chinese in the area,best chinese I've ever eaten etc etc, what a load of rubbish, this place is bang average, but the prices are out of this world, there's far better and cheaper chinese restaurants in the local area, wongs in collier row to name just one, I think you're all blinded by the decor, which to be fair is top notch, but the only other thing about this place that is top notch is the prices, I think they need to realise they are in Romford not the West end. Near enough £270 for 5 people, 1 diet coke and 1 cider the rest of us had tap water. Absolute p*ss take, I don't know about anyone else but I like to be kissed before I get f***ed. 100 percent will not be going back here again

Excellent here been eating there for 43 years I love it its my favourite Chinese restaurant I go for my birthday and wedding anniversary each year, going on the 14th Dec

£16.50 for 8 prawn balls, taking the absolute piss. I made a genuine mistake by paying £2 less with cash and the waiter joked ‘ I know your kind’ this really ruined my night and will not be coming back

All the testimonials that I'd had recommending the Blue Orchid raved about the place. After going there for the first time recently, I now understand why. The food is outstanding, the staff unfailingly polite, the service excellent. I only wish that I'd taken enough of an appetite to do justice to the Set Meal that we'd ordered. The vast majority of the reviews of this place are eulogies; if you go there yourself, you'll see why. I'd give this place six stars if I could. NB For avoidance of doubt, booking is definitely recommended. Don't turn up on spec, particularly on the weekend, and expect to get in.

I have been searching for years to find the best restaurant, i travel from westminster to blue orchid in romford, it is worth travelling, you will not find better, people in romford is amazing, i had king prawn balls i could tell they are fresh with the highest quality, proper curry sauce full of flavour, chips cooked in vegetable oil, king prawns in black bean sauce amazing perfection, finest seafood, enjoyed the banana fritters the staff are amazing.

Just got. Takeaway from here. Charge extortionate prices. I got half a container of curry sauce for £3 each. Chips that were soggy for £4.20 And food is not all that. Absolute rip off

On my hunt for an excellent chinese restaurant/takeaway i finally decided to try blue orchid . Seeing the restaurant nestled on north street roundabout for many years i thought it looked very good and quite upmarket . Unfortunately after parting with 60 of my hard earned pounds for a dinner for 2 adults and 2 children takeaway , i was very disappointed with the very plain , ordinary bland food . Nothing exceptional at all, acceptable food . But not worth the upmarket price tag . Could have brought a similar dishes from another takeaway restaurant for at least a 3rd of the price less .

Visited recently and it was our first time coming here. A lovely family owned restaurant with great service and food. Reasonably priced - however the spicy pork dish was not spicy at all and tasted very sweet like BBQ sauce, that was the only thing we didn't like. Portion sizes are very decent too.

Absolutely 💯 superb..nothing was a trouble, staff treated us as one of the family We ordered lots of different dishes. 5 adults one teenager and everyone was catered for This place is quality .

This family run restaurant is a hidden gem. We always treat ourselves to quiet birthday dinner here and it never disappoints. Top tip book your table in advance as it is bustling especially on a Friday and Saturday night.

I went here because the great Johnny Fisher recommended it. Bosh..The restaurant has a good atmosphere and was nicely busy for a Thursday night. Service was very attentive but not overbearing. Food was excellent. Thank you big John for the tip.

Recently had friend's 60th birthday dinner here upon another friend's recommendation. We had a wonderful time, there was 4 of us and the place was fully booked. The portions were decent size and we ordered 4-portion sharing platter of appetiser, and a couple mains (crispy duck pancakes, mix vegetables, fried rice, steamed sea bass and beef with oyster sauce). We shared the mains between us and we were all satisfied and full at the end of the meal that we didn't have room for dessert. The sesame prawn toasts and spicy shredded beef were amazing. Would definitely recommend this place. Hands down the best Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to in a long time, and will definitely be coming back! Only downside is there isn't any parking near the place, the closest local car parks were about 7 minutes walk (Romford Brewery or Liberty Mall).

Perfection. I can't praise the food, staff and management enough. We have been eating here for 5 years regularly and a further 20 years previously Normally I list what we have. All I will say that a Chinese restaurant that only uses fresh ingredients hits every spot. Every dish I have ever had has been perfect. They specialise in seafood and am sure nothing sees a freezer. It is fresh and meaty as it should be. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. We only go here and avoid all the cheap imitations. Advice is to book ahead as it is really hard to get in. Two floors of perfect food. Nothing is ever too much for them to make your experience perfect. A family business that deserves all our support.

What a very pleasant experience Richard and the staff were welcoming and friendly. The ambience of the restaurant was great and is well appointed with a good decor. The menu is extensive with all the classic and a few with additional items. The food was of a very high standard and plentiful.

Amazing food, best Chinese i have had. Been coming here for years and never had a bad meal. I moved area so don’t come as often however i came for my Birthday last December and am always pleasantly surprised how delicious and fresh the food is. Ray and Richard have been doing a great job for many many years.

Been going here for 50 years best Chinese ever

Very good value lunch and good choice of set meals

I believe we came here shortly after our marriage in 1973. There is a tasty reason while we return time over time these years. Times change and now my wife is disabled and is always treated with the same kindness and attention. Richard follows in his grandfather tradition in being the genial host. I had the sizzling beef dish this time. They were very busy for a Thursday evening (maybe the new Friday?) and the service was slower, but hey not a problem for us.

Had a wonderful time, there was 11 of us and even for that amount of people the service was unbelievable. The prawn toast was amazing, the beef sizzler blwas excellent but the honey prawns were the star of the show. Would definitely recommend this place.

Chicken egg spicy noodles are really awesome. I did not expect the taste I was actually looking for but I just got the exact taste more than my expectations. I really love this restaurant with good ambience and good people. Highly recommend..❤❤

Best chinese in Romford and still is

I have eaten at The Blue Orchid several times over the past couple of months. The food is really tasty and the portions are generous. The customer service is excellent. Plenty of staff on hand to serve and ensure you have everything you want.

Always high quality and friendly staff, we were upstairs and the air conditioning is fantastic. Only 1 downside was the apple fritter was a little tasteless, but put that down to the apple and not the cooking

This restaurant has been here for decades. It’s a family run restaurant with the owner Ray and his children all working to help out! My 18 year son had never been to a Chinese restaurant (always had take aways) and I said the best I remember was the The Blue Orchid ! Hadnt been here for 17 years (ex wife and myself are here so avoided for years!) Covid turned the world upside down but we eventually got to go for a meal tonight along with my daughter and her partner, my eldest son and his partner, plus my 18 year old newbie ! The whole night was amazing! Atmosphere was perfect ( as my 18 year old said, we can talk to each other) , temperature perfect , food was amazing !! This really is the best that can be!! Further proof of attention to detail , after about 5 mins, the waiter (owners son) remembered me from 17 years ago!!! How many restaurants could that ever happen !! I won’t leave it so long to return and now my son realises Chinese food is much better here than the delivered via scooter and in Tupperware !! 6 stars ⭐️ Enjoy

What I asked for was Roast Duck fried rice in black sauce (with roast duck on top of the rice) like the first picture, but I got egg fried rice with shredded and mixed duck like the second picture. ROAST DUCK FRIED RICE NOT SHREDDED DUCK FRIED RICE

I'm not a great lover of Chinese food but I did enjoy the food here. Service was good and quite frankly, I can't think of anything I didn't like. I would recommend this restaurant.

We were a table of 8 and had booked in advance. We were seated quick in the downstairs area and served drinks quite quickly. But then things seemed to slow down. Prawn crackers arrived but no-one seemed to want to take our order. My friend let them know that we had a minibus picking us up in 2 hours but still that didn't seem to shift them. Whilst the food, when it eventually arrived, was lovely the whole experience took too long to get started and we felt rushed at the end which was a pity. If only they'd taken our order early it would have been perfect and we'd have probably drank a couple of extra bottles of wine post-meal. It had all the promise of a great meal but fell short.

Whilst the restaurant is well run, clean I found the food whilst cleanly and professionally presented really bland and the prices are quite high for the lack of flavour...other local chinese although they are takeways cheaper and offer more flavoursome food

Delicious Chinese (Cantonese) food. Quality ingredients and very friendly staff. We ordered the Chicken with black bean sauce, salted chilli King prawns, salt and chilli bean curd and sizzling fillet Cantonese style. These king prawns were our favourite but all dishes were nice. Would definitely go back again.

family run best chinese for miles around,we travel from billericay to romford once or twice a month.the owners are very hospitable and very good hosts,always make you feel welcome.the food is excellent and you can always get something different thats not on the menu,just ask richard for his specials,we ordered a turbot as a treat and boy was it good,slightly expensive but well worth it.can recommend to anyone,top marks

A gem of a restaurant just outside Romford's inner ring road, so not an obvious destination. It is well frequented by locals who appreciate the great food and wonderful service. The only criticism is that the portions are rather large and toilets are upstairs. I didn't notice any disabled facilities.

Whenever i eat a Chinese meal locally i come to the blue orchid, i always seem to not review because its local ! I have never had a bad experience here, always well greeted as is all customers not just regulars. Drinks service is swift, nice choice of spirits as well, the menu is vast and contains varied fish dishes which is lovely to see, the food always comes out piping hot you can tell its freshly cooked and not re heated, as always looking through the vast menu i order too much so i didn’t have a desert, if your looking for good food in a smart restaurant with friendly staff look no further. Happy New Year guys
