Used this takeaway for years not anymore after tonight, bought a salt and pepper box £22 90% of it was chips hardly any chicken and none of it tasted any flavour . when I phoned to complain he said we have no drivers to send anything else to u . Avoid this takeaway at all costs, they have no customer loyalty it's simply grab ur money and serve u crap !!!!! Shame!!!!....

Very disappointed with the poor level of service and the food we bought was just a large box of chips!!! rather than a large munchy box for £22 . I've been a loyal customer for more than 4 years patronising this restaurant .It is just a shame that I won't be buying any food from here again after my ordeal . Where is the customer loyalty and satisfaction It's just sad that I have been left with such a money grabbing technique without getting what we paid for !!!

we used to here all the time and never had a complaint about it until now. we had salt and pepper chicken the flavour was barley there and the chicken was dry, shared an egg fried rice which seemed to be the only edible thing, and the curry was absolutely inedible, made the mistake of pouring it all over my food, i couldn’t put it in my mouth without immediately spitting it back out again it had the texture of cement and the taste was vile you could tell they didn’t mix in the curry powder right and that it was made without a care in the world for the price too it was shocking never ordering from here again and i suggest you save your money and do the same!

Lovely guy served me I normally get King prawn with black bean sauce and rice and it’s a very big portion with loads of prawns and very tasty. It’s the best I’ve had and I got a complimentary bottle of water. Thank you

First time ordering from here….chicken chow mein was very dry along with the chicken friend rice the only plus was the flavour of the salt and pepper chicken The curry sauce had the consistency of cement

We ordered from here at 5pm when it opened. They said it was going to be 30 minutes and took 50 minutes to arrive. The food was disgusting, the chicken fried rice was really dry. The chicken chow mein which the noodles was okay but the chicken in it was over cooked.. the salt and pepper chicken had no taste to it. Then the curry sauce was thick and slide out of the pot all at once… will not order from here again!

Good size portions but didnt like the food

First time trying here last night, and it was absolutely delicious. The test of any Chinese food is the rice, and the noodles, so I got two of their meal deals where you can pick any main, and have it with either rice or noodles. First up was Sweet and Sour Chicken Balls with Egg Fried Rice, and then Chicken in Black Bean Sauce on Noodles. Both were fantastic. The rice and noodles were nicely seasoned and very well cooked, so an excellent base for all dishes to go with. The chicken balls were crispy and tasty, the chicken in black bean sauce was superbly cooked to be tender and having the flavour well infused into it. The price for the portion size was very good too. Jewel City is an excellent place to get food from, and it'll now be my go to Chinese takeaway. 👍🥳

The worst Chinese takeaway food I have ever had. The boiled rice was hard and bone dry, curry was inedible and vegetables raw in the other dishes ordered. I dont like leaving a bad review, all the family wasted most of it and meal was spolied. Never again from here.

We placed an order on the 31st and it took 2 hrs to be delivered. Furthermore, an hour and half in they rang to say they were out of something that was fine when we first placed in the order. When it arrived, the chicken nuggets were overcooked with a tiny amount of chicken. The chips were clearly stale and were hard, which happens when they've been cooked (or microwaved) twice. The vegetables were clearly out of a can, as they were slimy. The chicken was plasticky, and tasted cooked from frozen. They ran out of chicken balls, substituted us with some other chicken pieces. They were small, salty, and not good. The sauce that was hyped up was the sweet and sour sauce with a few refrigerated vegetables.

The food was amazing and came on time whilst very hot. The drivers were nice and the service was excellent. I would 10/10 highly recommended this takeaway to anyone wanting a yummy Chinese takeaway with efficient and fast service.

Unfortunately the salt and pepper box was far to salty I couldn’t eat it and they forgot to put an item in

Ordered dinner by phone to collect. On collection I was told it's payment by phone only. I was £3 short to pay in cash so had to add bank details to my bank app to pay. All took time and delayed our dinner. Still enjoyed it though.

Picked up our takeaway, and live less than 1min. Drive away. Food was stone cold and absolutely disgusting. 🤮

Only accepted cash or bank transfer as payment not cards! Had to sit and set it up . My curry and my partner's 60th chow mein were very hot, chili, spicy, gingery. I enjoyed them , she didn't. At least I'm set up for bank payment next time! A one off disappointment, we will return.

No Working card machine so had to drive to a cash point to get cash. Food was over cooked and greasy and made it almost un eatable will give this place a miss in future

New favourite Chinese takeaway!!! Delivered to us within 20 minutes of ordering, delivery driver was really nice and came piping hot. Absolutely delicious food and good value for money, we will be coming here again!

Good quality takeaway at a reasonable price, hot and a very quick turnaround. Large portions too (would order less next time!). Nothing at all to complain about.

Normally order from here at least once a month and I've never had a bad meal until last night crispy chilli chicken was awful it was just crispy batter in a sauce could not eat it will be going elsewhere in future.

Not the same since it changed ownership Jewel city was my go too takeaway but I think ill be staying away. Awful food

Ordered our food nice food but who ever takes your order is rubbish my daughter came to see us before Christmas who doesn't live in Sheffield and the order was wrong it cost me £40 and she told me I had to pay for her mistake bang out of order I won't be ordering from there no more

Awful, people who order from here must eat out of the recycle bins absolute garbage! The person on the other end of the phone wasn’t much better either if I could give -5 stars I would!!

First Class Food Order Every Weekend Nearly’ Alway Busy So What Does That Tell You. Plus Their Curry Is To Die For 👍

I ordered from here way too much at one point because the food was delicious, not anymore, everything is just too salty, chicken balls are constantly over cooked or reheated, especially when i ask them not to make them too crispy. Curry sauce, salty. Capital spare ribs, salty! Whoever is cooking wants sacking!

Ordered 2x salt n pepper chips 2x curry sauce 1x chicken fried rice 1x salt n pepper chicken 1x Thai chicken red curry 1x Thai chicken chow mien which was just chicken chow mien with sweet chilli sauce in and very sweet and 1x prawn toast. I was told it would be £37 something which I thought was a little expensive but accepted it anyway but when it came there was no rice. I phoned the restaurant and explained to be told I didn’t order rice even though the rude woman on the phone said my order back to me. She did say I could have the rice delivered but would have to pay extra so probably talking about £42 I normally get the same from golden house on Richmond road for £35 and get a more friendly service. Will not be ordering again!!!

Great food came piping hot and on time

Great value for money, food was absolutely fantastic, and they have a large variety of vegetarian dishes and meat alternatives which is something more Chinese takeaways need to start getting! Only reason it's not 5 stars is because there's no card reader in-store so you have to bank transfer the owner, which feels a bit dodgy. Otherwise, staff are lovely and food was great!

We order here quite regularly, at least once a month and it can take a few attempts to get through but keep trying. Food is good, delivered hot and always within the time they say on the phone. New menu from May 2022, prices have gone up but hasn't everything 🤷‍♀️

Excellent food and fantastic service

Can't say our experience was as good as the reviews? Ordered the Thai vegetables and there wasn't one fresh green vegetable in the dish at all! Instead it was packed full of bamboo shoots, which overpowered the taste of the mushrooms, onion and some baby corn. The special Thai rice and the chicken in chilli and garlic, tasted exactly the same as the vegetables with the same sauce and Ingredients! So if you like the sweet, earthy taste of bamboo shoots and not much else, you're laughing. 2 stars as the hubby enjoyed the Singapore noodles!

Visited whilst in the area from down south. Fairly quick and very polite service. A1 Hot Box was large and superb. Satay Skewers great also, but a little messy eating in my car. Would recommend.

The food is usually of a good standard and piping hot - , although the noodles can sometime taste a little bland and stale as if they are straight from a plastic bag with no seasoning. The ribs of all types and flavours are amazing, tender and succulent every time. This review would have been 5 stars apart from one thing, the abrupt attitude of the lady who takes the orders is consistently appalling, rude and dismissive, even when you try to be friendly to her, she completely dismisses you with "anything else?" which is so unfortunate as this is the first voice any new customers will hear, it's not a huge complaint, but I think for any business, it's an important one.

Ordered a takeaway last night very disappointed waited over an hour for food when it arrived all the food was overcooked and nothing had any flavour will not be going back to this chinese

This takeaway is always out first choice for Chinese, and it's always hot and tasty . But today we were disappointed because after collecting our order we found it was wrong, instead if our beef with onions it was beef in a sweet sauce . And instead of the pancake roll we got a bag of chips !! Can't understand why anyone would eat chips with a Chinese meal

This is the jewel in the crown, excellent food, plenty of choices the amount you get is unbelievable would highly recommend.

This is the 1st time we have used this Chinese we’ve driven past so many times, but always was happy previously with another local Chinese takeaway …But not anymore ! Jewel city is now going to be our first choice !! Food was superb food tasted so fresh, not greasy, rice cooked and tasted to perfection , loads of chicken highly recommend

Delicious food. Was our first time trying but will definitely order again. Was delivered quickly and was hot.

Used them for a while now and always beautiful food, only ever had one that was a bit burnt. However i will be waiting until after lockdown until i order again as they are obviously pushed out with work. It took 2 hours to arrive and was luke warm, on top of that it was all squashed and leaking all over the bag. Again though the food is amazing and i will carry on using them when things calm down a bit.

My daughter recommended however after 2 hours of phone being constantly engaged gave up trying!

Excellent Chinese takeaway - one of the best I've had. Very generous portions of high quality food in full boxes, with super ribs and special fried rice. Set meal for 2 is easily enough for 3 people. Good value for money and swiftly prepared when ordered in store. Cash only however.

Poor very poor, meat was smelly went straight in the bin otherwise my insides would have. Save the toilet roll and have beans on toast instead.

Have been using this restaurant for about 2 decades but haven't used it in about a year anyway went other day and the quality was very poor don't think I will bother anymore.

I’m so disappointed!! We have order out of catchment for a while and gradually it’s got worse!!tonights meal consisted of soggy spring rolls that that nothing in but bean sprouts and was completely tasteless and watery black bean and over cooked noodles. I will not go back there again after many visits x

After been told this takeaway was extremely good we decided to give it a go. Ordered for the family at 19.30 and was told it would be about an hour. At 21.25 there was no sign of our food so I called up to see if it was on its way, the lady who answered asked me to wait a minute while she found out. After about a minute of screaming at each other in the take away she hung up 😡 I called back to see what had happened and was told that our order had not even been cooked. So disappointing

My mum's birthday and we thoroughly enjoyed every bit, we go in and order and despite being inundated with takeaway calls, the service is pleasant and fast. Always get a free extra surprise too, as well as prawn crackers. Highly recommended. Thank you

We don’t live far from here, and after trying many Chinese takeaways when we moved here, this one has won hands down!! We have a Chinese takeaway at least every month, and it never disappoints! The food is amazing; always fresh, hot and tasty. It’s generally always around 45 mins to 1 hour for delivery, so we time it well! We wouldn’t go elsewhere, and 100% recommend!

Not ordered from here for a few years, but our usual takeaway was closed midweek. Arrived promptly and everything was piping hot. All the dishes were delicious, especially the salt and pepper prawns and the spare ribs. Will be ordering from here on a regular basis from now on, it has definitely improved radically since we last used it.

I have only recently started ordering food from here after being told it was lovely. After two experiences with this takeaway I won’t be returning. The first time I ordered I was missing a dish, when I rang to say it was missing they told me they’d misunderstood my order. I decided to let it slid but realised they had still charged me for the full dish even though I hadn’t received it? On the second occasion my dad went in to collect the order and asked for it to be re read back to him so that we knew we wouldn’t be missing any dishes and that we was paying for the correct amount. The Order was read back too us, it was correct but when we got back home we was missing 2 dishes. I’m all for mistakes and second chances but I don’t understand how this Chinese can charge for dishes, be read aloud to make sure it’s correct and still be left short. The food is nice but make sure you get what your paying for.

Order placed at 7.24pm was told around 45 miniutes for delivery, which was fine. 1 hour later nothing had arrived, I rang to be told it would be with me in 5 to 10 mins taking us to around 8.35pm. At 9pm we rang again to be told more lies with them saying he was just getting ready to leave with our order and not even an apology they guy just said do you want to cancel !!!!! We have never had any issues with the food it is always spot on, however 1 hour 35 mins for a take away delivery is not acceptable and as for customer services this is none exsitant.

Probably the nicest chinese I have ever had!

We moved from Woodhouse 16 years ago and used to use jewel city regularly. After the break when we have had food from this establishment when visiting friends nearby. We discovered they would deliver to our new address it was like de ja vu superb food great service thank you very much
