Great restaurant, good service, good prices

We went to this restaurant because of the previous reviews and we were not disappointed. As per other comments, the restaurant was like going back in time, but the food and service were first class. We all thought the food was extremely tasty and we would definitely go back and I thoroughly recommend a visit.

Best meal I have had in this area, staff polite and food was excellent

A really pleasant dinner served at 5.15pm, in The Jade Restaurant. Great service and as the proprietor was there, I enjoyed a very nice conversation with her.

Excellent service quality food very friendly family run business!

When you mention the Jade Restaurant on Exeter Street to the Salisbury Locals (albeit of a certain age, Like myself!) you hear great stories of many a night spent simply enjoying the best Chinese Food Salisbury has to offer. It’s reasonably priced too at approximately £30 a head for a good few plates you really can’t complain. That coupled with great service, We were left very happy. Unfortunately, I didn’t catch the name of the server/waitress but she was brilliant. Not making us wait too long between courses and checking in between for refreshments. Every time I step foot into here it’s like going back in time. The decor is truly like stepping back into the 90s and I feel as if I can remember when times were simpler. I almost felt as if I should have my old Capri parked outside. I would thoroughly recommend coming here and please don’t be put off by the decor.

The food and service were excellent which is important. The staff were lovely. The restaurant lacked atmosphere when we went, possibly a Thursday night was a little quiet. The entrance looked tired, in need of an update to be a bit more enticing and make the restaurant stand out.

As it's a little out of the centre of town The Jade may be only known to the locals but it is worth finding. The previous owner was renowned for his serving and deboning of fresh sea bass in ginger and soya sauce and the new owners have carried on the same menu and service. Eating at The Jade is like a trip back to the Chinese restaurants when they first arrived. Horse shoe seating, Chinese bhuddas with Green and Red decor. The one thing which could be improved is the decor from the outside and entrance door. It does not look welcoming at all, however don't let that out you off the food and service inside. Worth seeking..and make sure you ask for the fish of the day.

Food was slow due to low staff numbers and it was very warm. AC not turned on.. food was excellent and staff did their best to keep the service going.

Having an audit in Salisbury area this week, first time to visit this takeaway, ordered chicken sweetcorn soup, salt and pepper spareribs, king prawns ginger and spring onions, special fried rice. Overall tasted okay, spareribs were good because not so many bones, all soft bones n meats 😋 special fried rice was nothing special this time but the fried rice texture was nice n dry. This dinner costed me £26.70, portions of each item were okay, so final verdict was value for money. Give it a try. 😊

Not been for years and after tonight I must say food is cooked to perfection! Can’t rate it enough! We had the seafood platter, pork and seafood dumplings, hot and sour soup and crispy duck. We will be going more often! Thank you again for a wonderful meal!

Visited the Jade quite a few times now and what a beautiful little restaurant. The staff are so friendly make you feel very welcome but most importantly is the food wow we’ve never had a bad meal. We always try a different dish each time we go and are never disappointed. Highly recommended 100% must give it a try

We loved the fried rice and fried noodles. We are the only customers on Thursday evening. It was lovely to chat with the restaurant owner. Cars can be parked on the road, after 6pm was free.

Please don’t let the building or decor put you off. The food in this place is stunning! Best Chinese meal we have had for a long time. We personally recommend the stay chick, Singapore fried rice and crispy chilli beef. Would be 5/5 stars but the decor could do with updating. If it was based on food alone it would be 5/5. Don’t let the appearance put you off. Enjoy it!

Great tasting food, relaxed atmosphere. Portion sizes were large. Overall a great experience. I would definitely recommend for a meal out.

We ordered a set meal for two, this consisted of duck and pancakes to start with, 4 main course dishes and egg fried rice. The food was very good, however the portions were so small and we were still hungry at the end of the meal. The waitress was delightful and is a credit to the restaurant.

We enjoyed this little gem of a restaurant. The food was good and the staff friendly. We will be going back very soon, its just a matter off how soon.

Good to see this local restaurant busy again. As excellent as ever. I always enjoy coming to The Jade when visiting my home town from London. Always friendly service and the food is excellent. Last visit was 24th February 2023. Still as good as ever.

My husband and I stayed in Salisbury for 2 nights and booked this restaurant as we love Chinese food. It is a family run restaurant and the young lady and her mum are most charming. The food is really delicious- top-notch and one of the best Chinese meals we have eaten. We chose a set meal and it was wonderful. We will definitely return when next in the area.

We came to the jade on friday for my husbands birthday,wow the food was amazing i had belly pork it was out of this world no fat and cooked to perfect.a fantastic resturant with very friendly staff we will return next time we are in sailsbury

I had beef with ginger and spring onions, barbecue ribs and Singapore noodles. Everything was delicious and freshly prepared and the staff were very polite. It took 10mins maximum to cook , I will return to this restaurant again.

The food we had was all great; the duck pancakes stood out particularly, they can be quite fatty but this was very crispy, a good amount of duck too. Staff were very friendly and efficient. I have eaten in the restaurant and had the takeaway (collection only) it never disappoints!

We came here as we were in Salisbury for just the afternoon having travelled to come to Stone Henge and then staying out of Salisbury but finding time to come into salisbury so googled for a chinese and found this one had great reviews. We were a little surprised when we did find it as it looks very tired from the outside but that is just the building. We went in and asked had they got a table for 2 and bearing in mind there was no one in, they said have you booked. We said no and she went to go and check and were told yes and seated us. We did notice that there was a musty smell slightly and it did look a little tired inside too. We were given the menu and we ordered. We were sat waiting and 2 more people came in who had booked and were shown to a table and then by the time we were finishing there was a family of 4 who had also booked. So not quite sure how long they thought we were intending to stay that evening or whether they had a lot more people soon to be appearing to come for booked tables or what but 6 people in a restaurant is not what I would call busy and be needing to check if you can take 2 more! The food was ok and not quite sure about the rav reviews I am afraid. It was average only. We had 2 mains & 2 rice and a portion prawn crackers and no drinks. It came to £29.30. We didnt think that this was particularly good value frankly.

Food was great i just felt the decor could do with updating

It has delicious food and a nice atmosphere. The service was good and the duck pancakes were a particular highlight. They do takeaway on collection and are closed on Sundays.

Service was good and they had Chinese beer but the food was bad not even close to Chinese

When we came to live near Salisbury 20 years ago there was only one good Chinese restaurant in Salisbury. Unfortunately this closed down over 10 years ago. We tried the Jade restaurant at that time but found the food to be poor and the tables cramped and never went back. Since then the Jade restaurant has closed and reopened under new ownership. A recent Google search highlighted good reports and we decided to have dinner there the other evening. We lived in Hong Kong for many years and are quite critical of the quality of Chinese food served in Chinese restaurants in the UK. We were pleasantly surprised by the good quality of the food we ate the other night. Other than the sweet and sour pork which had obviously been prepared well beforehand, was dry and somewhat overcooked, all the remaining dishes were excellent. Service was very good though there was only one other table occupied in the restaurant. There was, however, a steady stream of takeaway customers coming into the restaurant which would indicate a responsive customer base.

What a great find this was. Food was brilliant - they even accommodated my mock meat request which was not on the menu. The lady who runs this restaurant also supports orphaned children in Vietnam. So round up your bill as a donation is my suggestion ;)

Ive tried most places that serve Chinese food in Salisbury and The Jade is easily the best. The staff are very friendly, welcoming and polite. Ive eaten here and had takeaways a number of times over the past few years and its has been great every time. So much so that Ive felt moved to write a review!

Excellent Chinese best we're had for a while

Fabulous meal, and very accommodating. We called with 5 minutes warning after another restaurant let us down (at 5.45pm!), we were welcomed. The food was fantastic and the service was impeccable. Can't wait to return.

Very poor tiny portions and more expensive than menu price - avoid

Had a takeaway from here and wish I'd not bothered. Do yourself a favour and go to any other Chinese takeaway(except classic aroma, Wong's is my favourite)The only positive was that the prawn crackers were crispy. Measley and mostly bland portions. The sweet and sour had little meat and bulked out excessively with vegetables. The deep fried chili beef had no sauce to speak of, was bland, no chili heat at all and was so thin I'm not sure there was any room for any beef. The special fried noodles had a weird burnt flavour that masked any others that might have been in it. And for the privilege of this meal, it cost an extra 20% of what I'd normally pay.

Best Chinese food I've ever had!

I hadn't been to The Jade in 20ish years until tonight as I had moved away. Took my daughter out for her birthday with some other family and it was just as good as I remembered it! Outstanding and personal service, incredible food in a very relaxed atmosphere. I was so pleased. Absolutely top notch establishment.

Away from the main area for shops and restaurants, this place probably gets a bit overlooked. It's near the cathedral and has a lovely light and airy, peaceful and calm atmosphere. Nice food at reasonable prices. Carlsberg £4 a pint. Worth going to.

The Jade has been the best Chinese restaurant for years and continues to be so. The seafood specialities are excellent, all the food is cooked to perfection. Highly recommended.

All I can say is that these dishes are not too oily as they look but fresh dishes! Sorry for the take-away images but this is all I could do during the lockdown, staying in a hotel for a work.

Just had a meal from here after reading great reviews.Well unfortunately I do not feel the same .prawn balls were chewy and too much batter chips were undercooked and basically the portions were tiny,which I am surprised about as I read a review saying large portions.Not a great meal

This is by far the BEST Chinese Restaurant in Salisbury. I so wish they had a delivery service as if it hands down the most authentic, tastiest and freshest Chinese food. I would recommend the Chilli beef, not packed out with veg, you get exactly what you pay for. The prawn balls are full size king prawns in a light tempura batter. And the Ribs! Yum yum yum!

Finally pulled finger out and visited. My partner used to go before we had kids, 15+ years ago. She could not fault any of the food, describing everything as 10/10. The food as incredibly good, tasty.

Las comidas, Dios mío, todo llegó muy caliente y se mantuvo caliente hasta el final. Nunca antes había experimentado esto con una comida en un restaurante. Tuve los crujientes fideos mixtos con una hermosa salsa satay picante. Mi marido tenía fideos picantes, langostinos al curry (fabulosa salsa cremosa de coco picante para morirse) crujiente de panceta con hoisin. Los amigos comieron arroz mixto, costillas y cremoso pollo ártico y, por último, pero no menos importante, el otro amigo comió pollo al limón con fideos picantes. No puedo alabar este restaurante lo suficiente. Vivimos a tres horas pero volveremos. Gracias

Was in Salisbury for a couple of nights and due to the "Dine out to help out" promotion going on it was difficult to find somewhere to eat. Didn't particularly want to have Chinese tonight but very glad I came across The Jade. Pretty non descript building but the food was up there with the best I've had in London.

Best Chinese food we've had in a long time, and we were surprised the bill had Rishi's contribution, since we didn't see any mention on the website. Excellent.

We have just returned from a lovely evening out at The Jade. Service was friendly, efficient and professional, the food was delicious and well presented, and it was good to see that all Covid-19 protocols were being adhered to. Will definitely visit again soon.

Lovely fresh and authentic Chinese food, not at all gloopy like can be found in some places. Large take away portions, well packed, and always friendly service. Our go to restaurant in Salisbury for Chinese cuisine.

Three of us had a delicious meal at The Jade. We found a clean and pleasant restaurant with a calm and relaxed atmosphere and friendly efficient service. We shall definitely come again.

Used to be regulars here but for some reason not been for ages. So looking forward to this restaurant- the lady who took my booking could not have been friendlier and helpful- if that’s a taste of the service to come I am really excited! Will let you know how we get on !

Amazing food and service, I couldn't hope for anything more!

This is not a Chinese takeaway, This is a proper Chinese restaurant with actual Chinese dishes. The waitress is amazing and knowledgeable about all the dishes. She is lovely and very cheery and you can tell she is very passionate about the restaurant. I think people need to stop expecting the same food they are used to with different culture. You are not going to be satisfied if you keep getting it to your own standard instead of respecting where it came from.This restaurant is Amazing and one of the only authentic ones around.

This was first time I have ever eaten at this restaurant, Chinese restaurants are a dying breed which is a real shame. Upon arriving we were taken back by the old and dated decor of the venue. There was an odd damp smell. I wish I could say it got better from there.I ordered the mussels in black bean sauce, spring rolls and king prawn in sweet and sour sauce. Tres excited!The mussels arrived and for £10.50 as a starter I was expecting something special, 6 half shelled mussels turned up. They looked good... however when I tried to pull a mussel out it wouldn’t come and when I did manage it was incredibly chewy... they were selling frozen mussels at top end London prices . I asked the waitress if indeed they were and she confirmed that they were ...! I sent them back!Spring rolls ...they were NOT made on site but were clearly bought in from Iceland . They looked miserable , shrivelled and sad!! And tasteless... by this point I didn’t want to ask any more questions or complain so just ate the rest in haste!I have always heard great things about this place...hate to say it as it’s someone’s personal business, however AVOID.. especially at the prices they charge!!

My partner and I go to The Jade when we fancy being spoiled and just want to relax talk and enjoy a night out without having to shout at each other.This is a family restaurant where the mother and daughter seem to be front of house every time we come. They always recognise you and chat with you. The food is amazing and there is no rush to eat like some restaurant’s and you can have a chat without having to shout. Altogether a fantastic relaxing experience.
