Made use of the function room for a wake for 35 people. Lovely room, lovely buffet provided. Helpful and unobtrusive staff made sure everything ran smoothly.

Very dark and dingy, one of the young girl staff in the kitchen had long hair hanging down, it must have hung into the food, health and safety should pay them a visit

A proper traditional pretty pub. Great food & not a huge menu which is always a good sign. Very welcoming staff. A pleasant change from all the same forgettable eateries you get everywhere

I've just left. Had the most awful Sunday roast where everything was tasteless, boiled and microwaved. Gravy was brown water. Even the Yorkshire pudding was mushy. I didn't touch the food. Nobody came to check up on us so I just left hungry and £19 poorer. They also didn't do card refunds so my friend had to accept cash refund for the food they didn't have anymore. Staff also clueless on what they had in the kitchen and kept complaining they were busy but there were only 3 tables taken.

I stayed here with my brother whilst going over the South Downs Way. It is quite a steep descent to the pub from the Jack & Jill windmill's, when using the foot path, however, you can come down via the road also, but the road going past the pub can be quite busy, so use caution. The pub wasn't that busy when we arrived but they'd clearly had a busy day prior to our arrival, the staff were fantastic, really friendly, very accomodating and the food was very good also. Our room was a bit dated, but had some fantastic views out over the downs. Overall it was great place to stay and suited our needs perfectly.

Very disappointing, food advertised on website not even available. Food very disappointing. One starter served nearly 25 minutes after everyone else. Incredibly expensive drinks. Will not be returning.

A traditional English pub... typical country style building. Decor could do with a little TLC, as it felt a bit tired and dated. Felt like a local pub, for local people... Layout is unusual with lots of nooks and crannies, some areas were a little gloomy. This aside, the atmosphere was pleasant and we enjoyed a glass of wine before exploring the nearby walks.

Pub is in a fantastic location with great garden and stunning views. However, every time I return, I wonder why I have. The pub itself is pretty small, dark and claustrophobic, the toilets unpleasant, bird poo all over the outdoor seating and tables, run down kids play area and drinks are expensive (especially alcohol free beers). It is frustrating in some ways because it could easily be a fantastic pub and I think that's probably why I do return as I'm hoping it has turned a corner but it always manages to let me down.

Hired the event room for a wake, and we were very well looked after. First time I've ever been to one of these events where the buffet was actually good! Delicious food made it easier to come together and have some family time after the funeral. Staff were friendly and considerate, I liked the old fashioned feel of the place. Would definitely recommend for similar events.

Lovely staff, reasonable food but really let down by the service. It was busy (but apparently less busy than normal.) Four of us ordered 3 lamb Sunday lunches and a nut toast. The nut roast appeared ten minutes before two of the lambs dishes, the third lamb dish only appeared after we chased, twice. We ordered desserts and coffee. The coffee arrived promptly but was not what we ordered (that was speedily resolved) After a lengthy delay we chased to see when the desserts might arrive only to be told what we had ordered was not available. We changed our order but again had to chase to get a progress up date. We had just about given up when the desserts arrived. We were told that it was just our table, but that was patently not the case as I heard the word sorry being used a fair few times, plus tables around us got their food with large gaps. I realise that at busy times there will be delays, however they were still taking bookings and seating people despite not coping with the current demand, people seated after us (ordering after us) got their food before us. Something process wise broken between the front of house and kitchen. It spoiled what would otherwise have been an enjoyable meal.

Whimsical like the nursery rhyme but with a happier and tasty ending. Jessica and Daisy made sure were had a most pleasant lunch. Plus they let me be "fire maintainer." Soups and cheeseboard were delicious and a real value. As comfortable an ambience as you will find the British countryside. A+++ experience.

I found this pub/restaurant online so decided to give it a try, we had a family meal there on Saturday night, it's like stepping back into a good old fashioned run pub, great beer, great food, great staff and a lovely atmosphere. We arrived and the staff were really welcoming, the ales are locally sourced and were really nice, the food, delicious, piping hot and lots of it, the staff attentive and friendly. I will definitively be back there and have already recommended it to friends.
