Earlier in year we held my mums 'wake' all staff were caring/helpful/understanding.We could have balloons/photos/films show..the buffet was very good, the rooms gave it a 'softer' feel . for a sad occasion.lowers on the tables. most guests complemented us on our choice/poshness of all ,,, we had been for meals before, & I'm sure would be a good hotel to stay in ….so thankz to all it would have pleased my Mum

I organized a Christmas Dinner for 20 at the Ivy Hill. It proved to be a perfect venue for us. The dining room was beautifully laid out for Christmas. The bar area and dining room were smart, warm and comfortable. The food did not quite meet that standard but was acceptable. The meals were served efficiently but the staff weren't easy to get hold as they were covering other parties. Overall though, everyone enjoyed the event and we had a great time.

Just off the main road, when for some reason we had not seen a roadside service for ages. This was a nice place for a sandwich in the bar, also offered everything. Quite traditional but none the worse for that. Nice staff.

We took my mum here for afternoon tea as part of her mother day present. It was lovely. The service was great, the food was of a high quality and extremely filling and well presented! The only thing I would mention is that when asked if we wanted tea or coffee, we were not offered a selection of teas as had been expected after our previous experiences of afternoon tea. Still we had a lovely time!

Ivy Hill hosted our club Christmas dinner this year. The experience was distinctly lacklustre. The food itself was okay if a little plain. The service however was quite lacking. My guess is that the management had failed to provide sufficient or effective training for the seasonal staff. For example, the gravy arrived just as everyone was finishing their meal and additional vegetables were served to just half the table. I know it was the busiest time of the year and it can't be easy dealing with such uneven demand but it seems to me the management need to up their game. I doubt we'll return.

My OH and I called in to Rossini's on Friday evening for a quick bite to save cooking. The restaurant is in a cordoned off section of the Two Brewers Pub, and although the pub itself seemed quite busy

Megan and Leah were really good, so was the chef. Had a good, sensibly priced meal. The menu was quite varied with the specials. Good experience. We come to Chelmsford every 3 months and stay at a Prem

brought my Aunt here for Sunday lunch - we both had the carvery. There were 5 different meats on offer: lamb/beef/turkey/pork and gammon - all looked delicious, and we were given plenty of it. The v
