beautiful restaurant lovely interior!! And ok service. However as a someone with celiac disease I was incredibly disappointed with the options for food - which weren’t just greens. I was so exited as they advertise for gluten free being really good, however the options were extremely limited… when phoning up they said they can make the chips gluten free however, the waiter told me they weren’t and they don’t change the frier, so it would be cross contamination. I think it was off putting as someone who can get extremely poorly with having gluten it didn’t seem as though they knew what to do with the information of being gluten free. We were also charged for water which we didn’t ask for originally: - I would just say if your gluten free you can only eat the salad of the 2 course menu which is £19.85. - we also did get charged £70 pound for a meal that was meant to be £48. Although the food for gluten free wasn’t great. All in all the restaurant itself was beautiful and such a lovely atmosphere- and there were some really helpful waiters who took pride in helping customers. The Ivy can stand alone for its food and service but the day we came for lunch was not a great experience. The toilets both men and women were a disgrace! There was obviously a problem with plumbing that was ignored. Both toilet bowls were full to the brim, dirty and smelly! Don't tell me guests hadn't mentioned this to staff! It ruined our lunch as I was unable to go - very uncomfortable!!

Of course, the food was great. We were sat at the bar for lunch but it was quite difficult to get the attention of the bar staff to order food or drinks for that matter

Visited The Ivy on 25th January to celebrate my dad’s birthday. Being the Welsh Valentine’s Day it was busy but that didn’t distract from the amazing evening we had. Our server was McKaia and she was absolutely brilliant, food was stunning and the service was faultless, McKaia was a real star and The Ivy should be honoured to have her as one of their outstanding staff. Definitely a must go to. ***** well done Ivy

We came here on a Thursday evening. First time I've been, and this place is immaculate. The vibe, drinks, decor, and food are amazing. We had drinks and nibbles, and even though it was busy, service was quick and friendly. I can't wait to come back during the day for lunch or breakfast or both!

Great afternoon lunch and the food was lovely although the portions were quite small. We couldn't add the bill onto our Ivy card either, which was annoying.

As soon as we entered the ivy We were greeted by a warm smile By staff and immediately felt at home and like part of the family. It was our 1st visit to the ivy and certainly won't be the last. The staff and customer service we received was 1st class , and they did everything they could to make sure that everything was right for us. The food came out quite quickly even though the restaurant was busy with a great atmosphere. The meal sizes were generous The food was tasty and delicious. And definitely worth the price we paid

The Ivy, regardless of which city we are in, doesn’t disappoint. Having dined in a number of the restaurants, the Ivy is an excellent example of how a ‘chain’ of restaurants should run. The Ivy in Cardiff provided excellent food with attentive service to complement. We would like to thank the waiter who looked after us and took note of the occasions we were celebrating (January the 7th) and brought to the table three “Christmas crackers”. Here is well done to everyone and most of all the kitchen staff who tend to never get a mention or the recognition they deserve. Ivy in city xxx … here we come Ivy Asia too

Had a lovely meal here. Service was ok (husband asked for a 2nd drink & it didn't come) poor seating.......we had 2 couples either side of us and could hear their conversations, not very private at all. Christmas cocktails were nice

We dined at the Ivy Cardiff over the Christmas period, from the festive menu 2 days before Christmas and the Boxing Day brunch menu. We firstly dined on the ground floor although busy food was excellent. A high chair was provided for the baby, excellent service. On Boxing Day we dined on the 1st floor with easy access via the stairs or lift beautiful decor did not feel rushed food excellent.

visited today for my birthday & what an experience! Have visited The Ivy many times all over the country, including several trips to the Cardiff restaurant but this just exceeded all expectations! The meal, as always was delicious, service was outstanding but the birthday dessert box was next level! Ammar made us feel very special and is a great asset to your team. You’re lucky to have him. Thank you for making my birthday special!

Such a great experience. From the beautiful bar, to the upstairs dining room from the moment we walked in we really enjoyed everything. The smiling service, the impecable food, and the Christmas atmosphere. We had the festive menu and were not disappointed one bit. Would highly recommend the Ivy for any occasion. We will return.

excellent food, brilliant service, restaurant was full of Christmas diners on every available table and the staff kept apologising for the slow service even though we never felt it was slow, in the end they even knocked 25% off our bill which came as a surprise to us.

The service is dreadfully slow - somehow a starter and a main took three hours! The servers are polite and nice but that is beyond acceptable for time. There was also a massive wait at the door to even make it in, making it feel like you're getting on a bus when starting your night! The food was mediocrity at its finest - it is not much better than a Wetherspoons and at £60 a head it should be. The starter being smoked salmon and bread was super thin and not at all exciting (and it was by far the most fun sounding!). The main I got a steak and it was a tiny sirloin with an unseared strip of fat and a side of chips - for a £5 supplement on an already outrageously expensive bill for the quality of food, this is unacceptable. No sauces are offered until you ask so you just have dry chips and steak. There are better restaurants nearby - think Pasture, six by Nico, gaucho, daffodil. Don't waste your money on the ivy. If you'd like to experience a similar level of service and food quality, I can recommend any Wetherspoons - the price matches the quality.

Went for a work Christmas dinner (10 people). Food was okay - my steak was overcooked and arrived 5 minutes after everyone else's. But not good considering the price. Service was rubbish: forgotten drinks and super slow service. We got there for 5.15 booking and left at 7.45, only had 2 courses. They also forgot the crackers that we paid for, after asking twice and being told they should be there soon. Considering the price, a very underwhelming experience.

We were a group of 6 ladies who had a table booked at 12.30 last Friday. No surprise that as it’s December it was cold - however we had to queue outside the door before we were able to reach the check in area. This area was far too small and the reception staff were struggling to take coats due to the limited space and the coats were eventually squashed into a small cupboard. Our table was near the door and every time someone came in or out a cold blast of air came in too. I had to resort to having my coat over my lap but I was still cold even though I had several layers on. Quite a wait before our drinks order was taken. Menu choices were good as was the food BUT it was all served on cold plates and the meals themselves were lukewarm. By the time I finished my meal the food was cold , I had eaten it quickly before it got colder. Very disappointing for a meal that was supposed to feel like a treat - would have been happy with the price if I had felt I had had a good time - memorable for the wrong reasons - will not be recommending or back any time soon. Also lift not working to access the toilets

Booked a table a month ago to make a special Christmas trip to Cardiff. My old work friends had given me a voucher for The Ivy and we were very excited. Whilst waiting to go in a get seated, there was an issue with a missing coat as an older customer was leaving. This was eventually sorted out. We were taken upstairs to our table. The restaurant looked pretty but the pot plants in the window areas need some tlc. We ordered a 3 course meal, starter was delicious (chicken skewers and scallops) we weren't told the squid was off the menu, until we tried to order it! Main course was steak. I have to say for the price, rib eye £38 fillet £35. You then have to order sides on top of that. Very expensive for what it was. Desert was delicious, creme brulee. We had such high expectations and came away disappointed. There was then a discretionary charge added, £20. Which i know you dont have to pay but it shouldn't be added automatically. For a Thursday evening before christmas i thought it would be busier, which would have given it an atmosphere. I also had to ask for the heating to be put on, it was 2 degrees outside and felt about the same indoors. Then as we left, my partner was told his coat ticket wasnt the right one! And we had to point out his coat. It was ok but i wont be rushing back to the Ivy. I think you can get much more for your money these days. The staff were friendly though

Treated my daughter and a couple of friends to breakfast. They loved the decor and food. It's now become an annual treat!

We are a family of three and we were greeted on arrival by the host who took our coats and bags. A pleasant lady took us to our prepared table and we were served by a smiley and attentive young lady -nothing was too much trouble. There was a large selection of drinks, and we were offered water . There were signature crackers and I chose the Ivy Snowman dessert. My wife had frozen winter berries and yoghurt with carbon dioxide effect smoke. I was given a complimentary large profiterole dessert with a lit candle and happy birthday chocolate. All the food was perfectly acceptable and was served promptly . There were no errors in the bill,but despite the high cost,it didn’t put us off coming again . There was a lift upstairs and the toilets were top class. We did notice that one of the chairs we were sitting on was worn and needed reupholstering. Other than that , was quite a nice experience,and as we picked a lunchtime experience,the atmosphere was a little subdued ,compared to an evening event in my opinion. We gave the loyalty app a go,and the young lady was kind enough to add our loyalty points towards another visit. We would definitely visit again,but I would expect a higher standard of speciality cuisine,considering the costs involved. Overall a very welcoming experience with a relaxed atmosphere and pleasant staff.

Don’t know what the hype is about! Had a family celebration here last week and it was a very disappointing experience. Service was poor,very slow .meals were poor.wrong meals brought to the table ,steaks were like leather so they weren’t eaten . Not one check back to ask how the meals were . Ordered desserts and whilst eating them it almost felt rushed as they were clearing up and looking at our table constantly as I guess it was coming up to closing time . The bill was over £500 with a £60 service fee!!! Absolutely not worth it at all . We won’t return .

The Ivy is generally great no matter which one you go to, but Cardiff also benefits from tremendous staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Our food was uniformly excellent (the sourdough bread starter remains the best value menu item on the planet), and we left thoroughly satisfied. Couldn't recommend more highly!

We visited The Ivy in Cardiff to celebrate my sister’s birthday with a group of six. Booking was seamless, and even changes to the reservation were easy. The restaurant is stunning, with a gorgeous central bar—one of the most beautifully designed places I’ve seen recently. The food was very good, with portions that felt just right, though prices were slightly high. Unfortunately, my sister’s main course was forgotten and arrived 10–15 minutes later after we pointed it out. However, the manager apologized and removed it from the bill, which was much appreciated. The staff were warm and polite, though some lacked experience, with minor issues like how wine was served. Our table also had paper napkins instead of proper dinner ones, unlike other tables. Desserts included a special one for the birthday girl and an extra treat gifted by the restaurant. While thoughtful, the desserts didn’t quite meet expectations and felt overpriced. Still recommended!

Absolutely terrible service from the gift voucher department. Would not honour part of the voucher of only £28 even though I made phone calls and emails. DO NOT BUY VOUCHERS. They have not even got back to me with my last few emails.

Made to wait 25 minutes outside in the cold rain on damp seating for a special surprise event. Having been bombarded with emails prior to the date and on the day of the event - "not to be late" we arrived 7 mins early. Excited. Then, informed our table was still in use. Shuffled outside by staff where patrons cigarette smoke drifted our way. Asked staff to wait inside in the warmth at the bar (as indicated on their promotional pages), was told no - albeit with a smile. Back outside in the cold on damp chairs now 15 mins in. Hungry and very bored. Went back inside and politely asked again to wait at the bar. Told no again : "How long?" asked. "Shouldn't be much longer". Now, 25 mins outside. Still damp, now colder to our bones. Trying to keep my cool with polite smiles on our faces. Then! We were in! Our server was kind, but in my opinion too overly attentive, needy and robot like. A few of us were not in the best of moods because of the wait. All hungry, slightly damp and cold. How are you supposed to enjoy when your senses are messed with the 25 minute wait outside prior? Eventually, as we warmed up and foods arrived, we were happy. Yay! At the end and without asking a surprise complimentary 1 portion cream cake was offered. No questions about allergies before so unable to eat. Yes, the decor was wow, yes the main food was wow. But poor table time management has put me and other attendees off to book there ever again. Get the one chance. There are plenty of other venues in Cardiff with better customer care. If someone invited me however, I would go indeed and pray.

Not sure how I feel about this place. We didn’t have a booking but wanted drinks. After being told we could have seats at the bar, we were then turned away as they didn’t want to sit 4 people together by asking others at the bar to move down

Still waiting for a manager to call me after our bday meal was ruined 😡 came here sat night was booked into ivy Asia and was told there was no booking for me smd I had to go to the ivy instead ! So I thought it was a genuine mistake of mine that I’ve actually booked the wrong place but the man who worked on the door actually told me this mix up happens all the time and it’s the restaurants fault !! Was promised a phone call still waiting ! I drove over an hour to visit the ivy Asia as a bday treat for my partner when I could of stayed in Bristol and gone to the ivy there but instead we ended up in a restaurant we didn’t want to be in , completely shocked I’ve not had a phone call

Had a most amazing dining experience at The Ivy, Cardiff. From the welcome, to the waitress, to the outstanding food. All of it was brilliant. We had a 3 course meal with a glass of champagne for £30 each from the autumn menu so not only was it was excellent value for money but the food really was exquisite and we left feeling like we were floating on air. Loved the whole experience - thank you :)

About 7 of us went to the ivy for my partners 50th birthday party and the food was delicious although my sister in law had to sent her steak back because she asked for 🔉 rare and it was bloody but another than that it was perfect the waiters where more than happy to help with anything you needed and the cocktails were lush best cocktail I've ever had think it was called raspberry la creme. They even give my mother in law a birthday dessert 😄

Went for breakfast. Food was lovely, even with eating in the dark for a few minutes due to the power being cut. Service ok. We did leave feeling that the dining experience wasn't to expectation.

The food was faultless - it was very delicious. However, the service was not. We felt really rushed and unwelcome during our meal. The waiter took our plates as soon as we finished our food and promptly brought over the card reader before we had even asked for the bill. We decided to wait few minutes after we paid to let our food settle but a different waiter came over with a card reader AGAIN to take a payment, even though we had already paid. We got the message that we were wanted gone afterwards (even though there were plenty of free tables). We were there for total of 25 minutes. I am unsure if the reason for the rushing was because we appeared young (two Uni students) but I do not believe that spending £50 on brunch reflects this level of customer service.

This place’s heartbeat is the service and I mean it literally. It started at the counter. I asked for a table (and probably sneaking in a little bit of information that it was my birthday). The gentleman and the lady (Amelia) kindly led me to the table. Then I was hosted by Emma, who had the loveliest of smiles. I mentioned about the birthday again and very sweetly her and the manager wished me. Later on I ordered two courses meal which had the Grilled Peruvian Chicken and the Chocolate bombe. Let’s talk about the food - the Peruvian chicken was delicious. The chicken was well cooked marinated with jalapeños sauce and served with Avocado on the side with a little bit of salad and a big slice of lemon. Very tasty and beautiful presentation. - Next is the BOMBE. The bombe is absolutely sublime. You have vanilla ice cream-base covering the whole plate with a honeycomb . They put a hot caramel syrup on it so that it dissolves into the ice cream which makes it delicious. Very highly recommended if you have sweet tooth but be careful to eat slowly and steadily because it can give you a sugar rush, if you’re in a rush. But coming back to the service again, as I mentioned about the service. They were kind enough to provide a small doughnut with a smaller candle which really made my day and which is why it’s understandable why they’re so successful. Because the Ivy is a classy restaurant which tends to the needs of the guest present in this artistic masterpiece.

Without a doubt one of the best restaurants in Cardiff. Worked, fine and refined dishes. Lovely British atmosphere, very courteous staff. For comparison, this establishment is reminiscent of the Parisian “Bouillon Chartier”: local charm, a must! I recommend!

Lovely meal and atmosphere as expected from an Ivy restaurant. £7 for a 330ml craft beer that was served in a can for you to self pour was a bit disappointing at this level…

Hosted my sister's bridal shower here for 15 people and service was absolutely amazing. Quality food, service and atmosphere. Starters, mains and desserts were 5*! I will definitely be returning for lunch/ dinner in the future.

This is very much style over substance..... I had the ivy breakfast which was OK it just lacked flavour which meant I could do a better breakfast at home. The sausages although cooked the skin could have used a little longer under the grill. Having said that everyone else enjoyed their meal but personally would I hurry back absolutely not.

Really disappointed with the Ivy at Cardiff location. We had an afternoon tea (vegetarian option) we were served yogurt with our scones instead of Clotted cream, when we informed our waiter, he said, it’s because it’s veg menu afternoon tea, we explained to him, it’s vegetarian and not vegan but just brushed this off. There was also flies, around our seated area which was so unpleasant, and I have captured this in video, which will be posted to TikTok to show people exactly how many flies we had to deal with. When we informed our waiter, he said, “well there is nothing I can do about this” not even attempting to seat us elsewhere. To top all this off, we were also charged a service charge, it’s very sneaky how they add the service charge fee, without stating this is an option. Fair to say, I will not be dinning at Cardiff Ivy again.

definitely have mixed feelings about our visit here I’ll start of by saying we booking in advance and was still left waiting in reception to be seated for around 20-25 minutes .. the food we received was lovely but I definitely had a few issues , firstly the steaks were over cooked although it tasted nice flavour wise etc it was definitely well done instead of medium rare , you had to pay for sides separately so it was £35 for just a stake no salad or chips etc you have to pay about £5.95 extra per side again wouldn’t of minded if the chips were decent but they tasted like over cooked frozen chips so very disappointing ,and although the food was ok it definitely wasn’t worth the prices that the ivy is charging the cocktails were absolutely disgusting the margaritas tastes nothing like a margarita and were incredibly overpriced again , we was a party of three each had a starter and main course and 2 drinks each and the bill was over £200 , the building itself is beautiful although rather dirty we was put in the corner next to a plant pot that had leaked all over the floor and obviously over sometime as there was dried stains and dirt all over the floor next to where we eating upstairs the stairs also had bits of debris and stains on aswell as the mirrored walled were practically filithy worh stains all over them , the staff aren’t very friendly or accommodating it actually felt quite awkward talking to them at times they didn’t seem to know anything about the menu or like they enjoyed their job much at all they were all standing next to the tills talking to one another which I understand a lot of people like to socialise while at work but maybe not in front of customers while people are waiting to be served and on top of this they added their own “service charge “ which i personally found incredibly rude , if I wanted to leave a tip I happily would but honestly if I had a choice I wouldn’t of tipped at all and it’s not even a little service charge it was 20% ! Our tip was £27 which is just ridiculous I’m pretty sure the staff get paid by the ivy itself so to be adding services charges so high is just shocking if the service was actually there to begin with it probably wouldn’t be so bad x

You’re paying for the ambience which is indeed 11 out of 10! The food is instagrammable and service is impeccable. Unfortunately, everything tastes very basic. It’s your regular pub specials at as high of a price as it could be without it being criminal!

One of the best restaurants I have been to. From the moment you step into The Ivy, it’s an experience like none other offered by any restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable, thanks to Rhiannon. Highly reccommend if you are ever in Cardiff.

I recently celebrated my anniversary with afternoon tea at The Ivy in Cardiff, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. What truly set our visit apart was the impeccable service. Our waiter noticed us raising our glasses and immediately congratulated us on our anniversary, which was such a thoughtful touch. To our delight, he later surprised us with a special anniversary chocolate pudding adorned with fresh strawberries. It was not only delicious but also a gesture that made us feel truly valued as guests. The afternoon tea itself was exquisite, with a delightful selection of sandwiches, scones, and pastries, all beautifully presented and full of flavor. Every detail, from the food to the ambiance, was perfect. I can’t recommend The Ivy Cardiff highly enough for any special occasion—or just a luxurious treat. The combination of superb service, delicious food, and a gorgeous setting made our anniversary celebration unforgettable.

The restaurant is very nice for breakfast, delicious and the filter coffee is good Order for four people: -Eggs benedict without bacon and adding avocado - Buttermilk Pancakes (comes in 4 layers with berry sauce) - Two-free range Hen’s eggs (eggs on toast come 2) -Breakfast pastries (comes in 4 with two types of jam) - Fillterd coffee 2 - Cappuccino - Tea with milk Tea with milk

Booked for 6 adults and a child. One person with gluten and dairy intolerance. Place is stunning, lovely atmosphere . Stuff was lovely and very helpful. I have found gluten free and dairy free options for myself. Avocado on caraway seed bread was super nice! Everyone was happy including 4 years old.

It is a relaxing place to enjoy a delicious lunch. The staff were welcoming and attentive.

Over priced restaurant. Went for breakfast but they said breakfast menu finished and offered brunch.

What an impressive Restaurant. For my wife's birthday, we were looking forward to going here. Our host looked after us from the moment we sat down but that's what they're paid to do. I skipped the overpriced starters while my wife and son had theirs. For the main meal, I had the shepherd's pie but couldn't believe you have to pay for any veg you want to go with it as an extra. The Steak was cooked nice but you can't go wrong with a thin piece of meat. The chocolate bomb dessert my wife had was the best and came highly recommended. Again I skipped this as I don't like getting ripped off. When the bill came I saw that they put the gratuity on. If I want to leave a tip I will but don't put it on the bill. I asked for this to be removed before paying (dont be embarrassed to ask for gratuity to be removed ). The staff get paid to do their job. I can't see how Ivy has the Gaul to set these prices for small portions. I can go on. But don't think that by going to the Ivy you get value for money. And just to say you've been there to your friends wouldn't be impressive . Sorry but give it a miss.

This was our first visit with our Daughter where she was old enough to eat and our first lunchtime visit. Sunday lunch was lovely and the child's portion of bolognaise was very generous, my only feedback would be that for a child the pasta should be smaller. The staff were great with her, especially as we're at the stage where dropping things on the floor is fun 🙈 Thankyou

Had lunch here, food was really good and nice atmosphere. My wife absolutely loved the Apple Tart Fine.

We came here to celebrate my sister starting a new job, and we can't fault the wonderful service we received, especially from our server Niall (I hope that's how you spell his name!) We had been here once before and it's the perfect place to celebrate special moments with friends and loved ones. The decor is to die for, the lighting and atmosphere perfect, and we felt very looked after the entire time. The food arrived quickly and was all absolutely gorgeous. I had the plant based Malaysian curry (lovely), but it was the chocolate bomb dessert that really stood out for me - heavenly! They also bought out a profiterole with a chocolate saying "Congratulations" for my sister, which really exemplifies the type of service that goes above and beyond. My partner would have preferred more variety when it came to the vegan desserts (that aren't just fruit or sorbet), but all in all I highly recommend The Ivy for a memorable time with faultless service. P.S. The women's toilets here are the best toilets I've ever been in!!!!! You'll know when you go in. 🌹😊
