Dreadful food, dreadful service & foul language from the aggressive management so avoid !! It is now called LITTLE ITALY & the Italians would be disgusted in their food & attitudes towards their paying customers.

The customer service is appalling. The food is good but our server didn’t smile once. Ordered a bottle of Sangiovese and was given a merlot as a substitute without asking. Then told us they were the same thing!! Laughable. Same price though funnily enough. Starter served with main course too. We were in the heated tent bit and food got cold. They add 12.5% service. We had that removed. Such a shame. Could be a lovely place.

Terrible service and food and very expensive - we were trying to get to a show and had little time to find somewhere to eat near Leicester Square but unfortunately we ended up here. Food was disgusting and service surly at best so I would hope this will serve as a warning to anyone thinking about eating here! Our lesson is now to always book somewhere in advance!

We went to the restaurant on way to a show because it was empty, thinking we could get fed quickly.Drinks and food ordered was ok, but then it went wrong. No follow up on the drinks after the starter, the main course for me was small but my partner had hot spaghetti with cold meatballs (never seen that before)There was also a odd, old man walking up and down the restaurant and holding the door, muttering to himself. One guest had to ask him if she could leave but he didn't trouble anyone and appeared harmless. When we got the bill we were shocked to see a service charge had already been added - we couldn't recall much service! We paid and left quickly never to return.

Now called "Il Funghetto" beware!16 Irving Street.London WC2H 7AU -----Near Leicester Square----- Went here yesterday with my wife. Looking for a bite to eat at a reasonable price. Before you know it we're down £40 for relatively poor Italian food.... and I'm half Italian! How embarrassing!ok let's get started on this review:They had a "lunchtime special £9.95 menu" which did NOT list a service charge on it. But because I ordered a starter from the main menu (listing service charge) the entire bill incurred a 12.5% service charge. Not impressed. Nice ripoff tactic.Next: My starter was breaded calamari.I'm guessing pre-frozen by the look and taste of them. Bland and rubbery. One of the 4 rings was rancid too. I had already taken a bite out of the bad piece and swallowed it. Smelled the remaining piece, to be sure... yes, it was putrid!Told the staff and she merely said "sorry about that". Nothing off the bill or anything. Also, £6.95 for merely 4 pieces. A joke. See pics. At other places I've been you get a mounded plateful for that price; and freshly prepared and cooked. This was not good at all.We each also ordered garlic pizza bread. Talk about tightwads: they cooked 1 pizza bread and served it to us as a half each. Didn't realise dough was so expensive! They also covered it swimming in oil. Why? No need to saturate pizza bread in oil. Never seen any restaurant ever do this. Lastly, we both had the spaghetti carbonara. This was actually not too bad. Just bland. Good portion sizes. Why so many names:This place used to be called "The Italian Restaurant". Now called "Il Funghetto"... but it gets worse... got the bill and it read "White Lion"... get my credit card receipt and it reads "Bluebird Catering Ltd". See pics. Why are they hiding? Seems like plenty to hide based on other reviews for this place....Would NOT recommend nor ever return.Just awful.

We went there on a Friday night and the menu looked okay - I'm vegan so usually get a pizza without cheese when having Italian. The waitress was busy getting her pen to work and insisted that rather than ordering a pizza with sauce and vegetables but no cheese I had to order one from the menu and just say what I didn't want on it. She failed to point out that the one I chose doesn't come with a sauce, so after 30 minutes wait I received crispy pizza dough with roughly five sun-dried tomato halves, a handful of mushrooms and some pine nuts. Really?! Nobody thought about double checking this with me? I asked for some sauce to just be added on top and explicitly asked the same waitress to make sure that the sauce was hot. Needless to say it came back ice cold. We should have complained, but didn't want to spoil date night. My husband's spaghetti bolognese was okay.Won't go again though.

We called in this place on a busy Saturday afternoon as it didn't seem too busy as some of the others were but obviously there was a reason for this. We were shown to our table by a young girl who then attempted to close the door which was fastened with gaffer tape and had a large piece of cardboard wedged in to keep it shut. We chose the set two course menu and very disappointed with what we ended up with. Bill arrived with a £5 service charge as well as another £5.50 charge for sundries whatever they were? questioned it and £5.50 was subsequently removed but the service charged remained. The owner sat coughing with a chesty mucous cough throughout and it was a relief to see him leave the place.Toilets were filthy with broken tiles and stained urinals . We eventually paid the bill under duress just to get out of the place and vowed never to go back. Strangely enough the owner was sat in the restaurant next door eating a sandwich when we left obviously cant bare to eat in his own place. Revolting place give it a really wide berth.

While we were relatively lucky, the staff took orders where the table position was not recorded, leading to chaos. One table was asked after 45 minutes what they had ordered, following which they walked out. One starter was described as chunky calamari. It turned out to be 4 small rings and priced at £6.90. Despite that, the other food was tasty, but at the top end of pricing. 12.5% service was added to the bill.

Now called FunghettoAt 7.30 last night it because it was the only restaurant on Irving Street without at least a 20 minute wait, my husband didn't want to go in but I didn't think you could go that far wrong with pasta, how wrong could I be:1. They had run out red wine, the only wine left was the most expensive, a Chianti at £10 a bottle more than any other red wine2. They had run out of apple juice.3. The staff couldn't tell if they did gluten free pasta.4. They waited until after we had placed our order (and given us the wine to drink) to tell us that there was no chicken left - we wanted 2 chicken dishes. At this point with the wine open we couldn't really leave.5. In over 20 minutes I only saw 2 bowls of soup come out of the kitchen. People that walked in 15 minutes after us were given their starters, we were still waiting6. Their excuse as we walked out of the door was that they just had to change the oil to fry the calamari. Really? After 20 minutes? Without even a breadstick or olives...Customer service was terrible. The toilets were terrible. The people on next table ordered soup and was not given any spoons. There was a table of 6 girls arrived, there was one gentleman who wanted their table, he was pestering them until they left before ordering, he was something to do with the restaurant as well, not nice when you are eating though and he was continually picking his nose.Had to rush to get the bill as we had to make our way to the train, left a tip and had paid the bill, only when looking at the bill I was dismayed after leaving they had added 12.5% service charge on the bill and had not pointed this out, for this reason alone I would not go again! They also seem to keep changing the name of the restaurant which is not a good sign

Well, we had just been to see an amazing concert at the Albert Hall and decided to stop in here for a meal on our way home - as others have said we were enticed in by the evening special meal price and thought it looked ok - how totally wrong we were!! after a hopeless starter we awaited our main meal - the chicken burger and chips looked terrible and to be honest I've had better in McDonalds!! the pizza was like something I could have bought in a supermarket and heated up in the oven - even the Chilli oil wasn't remotely hot or even tasting of chilli. To cap it all we then asked for the bill and discovered it had an inclusive service charge added to it - this was not explained OR mentioned on the menu!! I would recommend that anyone passing this place to keep on walking as the Burger King round the corner will offer you much better fare! The waitress didn't even know what the restaurant was called when we asked her at the end! (it has a different name on the menu to that stated outside)! This is the same review which i gave to the 'Olive Grove' restaurant - why?, you ask! Well, it's the same place! it's also called the 'White House'! I wonder why they have at least 3 names for this place! and also a different name on the receipt!Visited August 2015

We foolishly chose this restaurant after reading the set menu shown to us by a young lady outside and seeing how empty it was should have served as a massive warning signal. My calamari were the same colour as fish fingers, and the breadcrumb coating shattered as soon as the fork came close. My partner's chicken wings were nothing special either. I had chosen the chicken burger with Cajun sauce, fries, tomatoes and salad. What arrived was a chicken breast in a normal bread bun with a spledge of pink mayonnaise smeared on one side of a bun, a slice of tomato and a couple of pieces of red onion. The fries were overcooked in what was probably, very old cooking oil. My partner's pizza had sparse toppings, none of which had any colour from being baked, supermarket pizza would have outshone this dreary offering. The bill arrived and we were dismayed to find 12.5% service charge added. Had I known what I know now, I would have refused to pay it, however we did and as we left, I looked up to find out the name of the restaurant in order to leave a trip advisor review. The outside of the restaurant has no name above it, the coloured large menu for show outside calls it the Olive Grove and when I asked the young lady who is employed to get customers inside, she had to call across to the man nearby to ask him what the restaurant was called!!!!! Yes, she works there and has no idea of the name!! He pointed to the set menu which calls it The Italian Restaurant, yet the receipt calls it the White House. Having viewed the Olive Grove and the Italian Restaurant on trip advisor and this similarly terrible reviews, it is clear that this establishment, reinvents itself every now and then and the White House is its latest incarnation. I asked the man where it was stated that there was a service charge and he pointed to the small print at the bottom of the menu at which point I told him that it was not on there and he said it was on the other menus! I'm convinced now that it wasn't but hindsight is a wonderful thing.Just keep on walking if you pass this place - you have been warned!!

I'm always a bit wary of restaurants with someone standing outside but myhusband decided on this one and it was raining and cold so I went along with hischoice. The restaurant was pretty empty but it was quite late and a Wednesdayso I thought that wasn't an issue. We were seated by a waitress and then leftfor about 15 minutes. The waitress took our order, we both ordered a calamaristarter. My husband chose sea bream with a side of vegetables and chips and Ichose spaghetti in a seafood and tomato sauce. The calamari arrived and Imentioned to the waitress that there was no tartar sauce as it said on the menu. She seemed confused and a waiter came over and I mentioned the tartar sauce, hebrought back two small plates with the sauce on. The calamari was quite dry. Then the main, my pasta with seafood was OK. The fish my husband ordered lookedquite small and there were no vegetables. They also wanted to put parmesan ongrilled SEA BREAM. I doubt a real Italian restaurant would ever do that. I askedthe waitress where the vegetables were and then again CONFUSION and the waitercame to ask. ten minutes later, the vegetables were brought over but my husbandhad almost finished his meal so he sent them away. Sadly, there was a servicecharge added, given the choice I wouldn't have left a tip. I can understand poor confused service on a busy night but there were only three tables taken.

On Saturday 19 October 2013 my cousin and I went into this restaurant. We sat at a table for six although we were only two. the waitress had her mobile phone clamped to her ear as we were seated. I knew we should have left then. We ordered, my glass was chipped on the rim, the menu was filthy and falling to pieces. We would have gone for a more elaborate lunch but I had a feeling we would not be lingering. The garlic bread was soggy white bread smeared with garlic butter, starter ok but nothing special. Main course was hot but I needed a microscope to find the bacon. I had to ask for parmasen cheese and black pepper. No one asked if we wanted dessert or coffee or whether our lunch was ok. The staff kept out of the way unless you caught their eye.Worst of all, went to the toilets and they were filthy. The whole place was grubby, our table was sticky and the stair bannister leading to the toilets was mucky. I went to pay and get out, the bill was written on a scrappy piece of paper in biro and I was told the card machine was not working, cash only. No mention of this beforehand. Fortunately we had the cash.Avoid this place, it is a health risk.

We should have left this restaurant when we were offered 2 seats on a table for 6 instead of a table for 2 and the waitress was talking on her mobile phone!Menu was tattey and grubby.Table was not clean and when we tried to move the used nightlite from the night before onto another table, we found it had stuck to the table!Sparkling water was served warm and my cousin nearly cut her lip on her glass as it was chipped! She had to ask for another glass and bottle of water! The waitresses did not seem to understand what we were saying. We ordered garlic bread and 2 small triangles appeared which were like crackers and were full of air! When we said that we had asked for bread, we were given 3 small thin pieces of luke warm bread which had been soaked in oil. Service was very slow and a couple who sat down after us, soon left as they gave up waiting! Main course of pasta was small, and only contained a few bits of bacon. We had to ask for Parmesan cheese and black pepper....and we were supposedly in an Italian restaurant! The toilets downstairs were disgusting and the whole area needed a good clean. What was the state of the kitchen we wandered? To crown it all the restaurant would not accept credit cards and we had to pay by cash. When we left, the waitress did not even say goodbye or give us any eye contact. We will definetely not be returning to this restaurant or recommending it to anybody we know!

When we got there the girl at the door told us the food was not good and not to go in! I wish I had taken her advice. I asked for parmesan cheese, they said they didn't have any but they had cheddar instead.... The food was mediocre and overpriced, the toilets were disgusting. There was no toilet roll holder, the toilet roll was on the floor. When it came to paying they told me it was cash only. I only had a card so I had to go next door to pay. Absolutely appauled by the service, cleanliness and food.

My husband and I visited yesterday for lunch. For a Saturday afternoon it was empty compared to next door which was full, should have reviewed it there and then but didn't! Out server was a lovely young girl who has yet to master the art of being a waitress. Her understanding of English was poor yet her ability to smoke rather than take our order was obvious. We asked 4 times to order. The table next to the window was filled with bags and boxes that is so unprofessional. The ladies loos dirty and in need of an update. The tables down stairs also housed boxes and debris of what had once held veg. Our food was ok not a 5/10 but for London it was ok. Over priced and microwaved to an inch of its life. I ordered pasta and had to ask for pepper and cheese. My plate was terribly chipped and when I mentioned it i got a smile and that was it, I explained the dangers of hygiene and cross contamination from a plate so badly damaged but it wasn't understood. Another girl also found it difficult to understand our drinks order but that may be due to her texting as she attempting to listen to us. I travel round this amazing planet of ours and embrace every experience good and bad, I will however discourage anyone to bother with this unfortunate establishment - I feel ashamed it sits in London.

Located just round the corner of Leicester Square this place should be a goldmine but sadly it doesn't cut it. No fresh bread is offered, and there is a very short menu. The only beer available is Peroni or Fosters (both bottled 330ml £3.95). Other restaurants all around were much busier which is usually a telling sign. The girl at the front 'enticing' people in did not really want to be there. No one working there seemed to be enjoying their job unfortunately. The vegetarian ravioli pasta dish was £9.75 and was fairly tasty but it was a very small portion. The pizza looked kind of sad. Luckily I was more thirsty than hungry. I agree with others - avoid.

All the other restaurants in the area were full, so we decided to try this one. From the moment we sat down, we were sceptical. We had to ask for the menu, our drinks were served warm, and we had to wait an hour for our food - two pizzas. We ended up leaving before we even got the food, and so did almost everyone else. Most of the people who got what they ordered ended up sending it back. AVOID THIS PLACE!!!

The food is tasteless, if not rotten. The service is unattentive, unfriendly and generally unhappy.I have seen cleaner public facilities at rugby stadia at the end of big international matches! The atmosphere matches all of the above.Avoid at all costs. If you feel you must have Italian food and don't want to go to the chain just across the way, buy a spaghetti or lasagne dish from Tesco or Sainsbury - I guarantee you it will taste better even if you don't heat it in the oven, and your chances of catching diseases will most probably be much lower as well!I concur with some other reviewers - this is most probably a money laundering front for some clandistine operation from further afield. We were a hungry and tired group, coming out of Trafalgar Square and looking for a central place so we could all eat together before heading different ways back to hotels. Should have guessed by the generic name, but we were blinded by, "It's available." One waitress was sweet, but she could not provide even the basics for us without being asked (water, salad dressing, parm cheese); the other waitress was downright surly. Menu appeared fine, but the reality was sad. Salads came with no dressing and only upon request did we get oil and vinegar. Asked for water and they seemed like it was the first time they had to scare up some pitchers. Brought pitchers that could barely hold water for two glasses. Main pasta dishes were actually decent, which was a surprise after the miserable salads (and the only reason I have rated this 2 stars vs. 1). No bread served in "The Italian Restaurant"! We couldn't finish and get out of there fast enough. Filled the belly, but avoid it if you possibly can. Eating out in London should be more than utilitarian!

This restaurant offers a £7.95 2-course lunch and the menu outside looked OK so we went in. My friend had soup, which was acceptable and I had a salad which came without any dressing and there was none on the table, nor were pepper or parmesan offered, unlike any Italian restaurant I have ever been to. As well as iceberg lettuce the salad included a couple of poor olives, about a quarter of a soggy tomato, cut into pieces and a few slices of onion. I left most of it. Our pizza and pasta main courses were edible, but mean offerings. There seemed to be lots of staff and they were pleasant enough, but apart from the waitress taking orders, the others had little or no English. Is this really an Italian restaurant? The chain Italians are 100% better than this and do great deals too. The toilets were pretty awful and the whole place looked in need of a good clean. Avoid at all costs.

This place relies solely on passing trade due to the location and is just a sham rip off for tourists. Made the mistake of grabbing a table outside when others all around busy. They care nothing for food, service and reviews. Sent starter back as mouldy bread. Still got charged! Food very poor. Chilli sausage pizza, no chillies or topping to speak of. Wife asked for Parmesan but had none! Offered cheddar but never came! Chicken pasta made with processed cubes of chicken. Stream of customers sent off to cash point after meal as no cards. Avoided disinterested waitresses and went inside to manageress who had sham argument with waitress over Parmesan saying she had not bothered looking for it!! Refused to pay for starter and now, having read reviews angry I paid anything. Stood outside for 5 mins advising others to stay away much to distress of staff! Cash situation is just another part of the scam. Also obviously Not run by Italians or anyone remotely concerned with their food. Bordering on a confidence trick. I work in London and may go back for a chat with them now seen reviews.

I live in London, but have a North American accent. I went into this place tonight with a friend and asked for a table for two. We were very polite. The waitress asked us if we'd like drinks. My friend ordered water and I ordered a coke. The moment I said "coke", she rolled her eyes backwards, didn't give an answer and slowly turned with a look of disgust on her face. It was the rudest/weirdest thing I've ever seen. Both my friend and I looked at each other in shock and disbelief. What? Did we accidentally step through a portal and end up in Paris? The woman was so horrible, that I just stood up and told them to cancel the order and we went to a terrific restaurant across the road called 'The Green Man and French Horn' and had a lovely meal. They were perfectly fine with me ordering a coca-cola. "The Italian Restaurant' was surprisingly empty, despite being in Leicester Square. Avoid at all costs!

Myself and two colleagues tried this restaurant whilst working in London but it was very poor. The food took a long to come and the orders were continually wrong with some dishes not arriving at all. Starters were ordered, one mushroom dish and two garlic bread, but only the mushroom dish arrived. When this dish arived, it had garlic bread on the side and we waited for teh other garlic bread starters to arrive. When the mushroom dishes were removed we enquired again about our remaining starters and were told that the garlic bread which was on the plate of muhrooms was our starter. A medium rare steak was ordered as a main meal but when it arrived it was like a piece of leather which was burnt and crispy around the edges. When I sent it back the waitress suggested it was medium rare! I ate my chips whilst waiting 20 minutes for another steak which was barely an improvement. The bill couldn't come soon enough but when it did we were greeted with, you need to pay cash, as our card reader isn't working. It would have been nice to be told earlier as one of our party then had to go and find a cash machine to settle the bill. With so many restuarants in the area, especially larger chains such as Bella Italia, etc, there is no reason to take a chance on this independent restaurant.

I didn't think that this place was as awful as some of the other reviews said, but it was pretty poor.We were tempted by the 2 courses for £8 lunch deal, which seemed good value for Central London. The starter of cheesy garlic bread was rubbish. A small piece of flat bread with no cheese I could detect. The main of penne arribiata was fairly tasty, but, what drove me mad was when we asked for Parmesan cheese, the waitress brought out a little bowl of grated fake cheddar. I informed her this wasn't Parmesan and she simply replied "it is". Shocker! They could at least admit they were being stingy! What kind of Italian restaurant doesn't have Parmesan?! What was really annoying was that there were 2 more Italians next door offering a similar meal deal including a Bella Italia. Doh!

This place can only still be going because it relies on passing trade for theatre land or poor unsuspecting visitors to london, no one would go back again. Food-vile, so it was probably just as well the main course was so small. Salad brown and slimy and should have been binned. Condiments on table were gross and really crusty so no dressing. Drinks warm and no ice and on a hot day. Didn't tell us up front that the card machine was broken and we could only pay cash but they didn't know where a cash machine was. avoid, avoid, avoid. we stopped off here by chance for a pre-theatre dinner on a saturday evening - should have thought more on why it was empty of customers while everywhere else was packed. so much was wrong about this place. we asked for 2 glasses of prosecco as an aperitif - "sorry, we don't have any." ok, a bottle of frascati - "sorry, we don't have any." in a supposedly italian restaurant?! the food: my wife had a completely tasteless risotto, it was made with "pudding" rice! when we asked for some parmesan cheese (to try to give it some flavour) we eventually were brought a bowl of grated cheese with was ceremoniously (and sparingly) sprinkled over the rice pudding. turned out to be grated cheddar, not parmesan.espresso coffees tasted like dishwater...the list could go on and on. to conclude, when i presented my card for payment the waitress looked awkward and asked for cash, saying their machine wasn't working! i said she should have told us before we ordered, and insisted on paying by card. she mumbled that they would see if "next door" would process the payment for them, at which point (sensing a lengthy delay!) i paid cash - could not wait any longer to exit this dreadful place.

Ate here on 25th may, 3 adults and 1 child, went for the set menu as it seemed reasonably priced. Basically, the starters are barely there. The caprese salad was horrific, one tiny basil leaf, one unripe and tiny tomato and watery, tasteless fake mozzarella ... The leaf salad and other starters contained equally disappointing ingredients. When the mains came out, already cold and delivered by a truly miserable waitress who was a new kind of sullen, they smashed our previous disgust with this place and went straight through misery's boots. Mum had maybe been to Iceland, but had been digging in the bins for stuff that had been thrown out from a broken freezer. Soggy, scarcely topped pizzas, one with no cheese (wtf!!) and the worst out-of-a-jar pasta sauce on penne that was a mix of uncooked, rigid packet pasta and soggy, disgusting slop. Begs the question "we're we the first people to "enjoy" this meal?". The staff were a bleak bunch, with the exception of the welcoming maitr'e dess, who should cry herself to sleep each night for her judas like ways and betrayal to culinary standards..

Went there on a Saturday evening as it was the only place where a table was left. Atmosphere is terrible, no music, only young girls serving that don't have a clue at all and aren't able to speak proper English. Ordered mushrooms with gorgonzola as a starter which was in the end 3-4 canned mushrooms in a creamy sauce that didn't taste like Gorgonzola at all.Mains were pizza with a salad to share. The salad should be a rucola and parmesan salad which turned out to be only rucola and regular cheese. We asked a waitress whether that should be parmesan and she agreed that no it's not... we sent it back to the kitchen. Pizzas had very few ingredients on it - looked like sprarkled. The taste was all right but one should be with parma ham and aubergines. It had regular ham on it a 4 pieces of aubergine. I asked again whether they know that that wasn't what it should be according to the menue. Again the waitress agreed and sent the manager ober. She promised to cut the bill which she did in the end. Paid 30 quids for half a bottle of non-tasting house wine, two pizzas and a starter (didn't have to pay for the salad). Seems as if they think their customers are idiots! Never again! Oh dear! We were sat at a table set for 6. The waitress informed us before we ordered, that the card machine was down, and therefore we could only pay by cash. This wasn't a problem so we ordered from the 2 course £14.95 menu (a greasy looking laminated sheet of paper). The Alacarte menus were old and tatty, and although it listed grapefruit juice when I tried to order it the waitress looked at me in dismay. I asked for orange juice, and they didn't have that either, so I settled for Diet Coke, my partner a large Pinot Grigio. In the interim a couple who sat behind us tried to pay their bill with a card. Following an altercation with a severe looking senior waitress resulting in the couple walking out and them being followed out and yelled at, several more people had come into the restaurant and ushered to tables. Its not often you see a tesco trolley being pushed through a restaurant filled with shopping, but thats what we witnessed. When the starters arrived, the offering of mozarella and tomato was laughable in portion size, and the dressing (olive oil), was brought seperately in grimey condiment bottles. My vegetable soup was tasteless liquidised potato and carrot.Diners began leaving as quickly as they were seated, without placing an order. When our main courses arrived, the tagliatelle was good, but the calzone which was supposedly 'stuffed' with cheese (cheddar as opposed to mozarella) brocholli, tomato and salami was served with what can only be described as cold tomato juice poured on the side of the plate. What was sad was the staff, who looked totally brow-beaten and demoralised, two of them working in turn as a maitre d role standing outside in freezing temperatures, trying to get diners through the door, only to see them 5 minutes later walking out without ordering.Very sad to say but this place had had its day, overseen by a scruffy elderly man and a very unfriendly head waitress.

Myself and my husband ate here a couple of days ago and unfortunately I have nothing positive to say. On approaching the restaurant a waitress was outside promoting their 'starter and main course for £14.95' offer - after a bit of deliberation, we decided to go for it.On going inside, we should have trusted our instincts - there was no music playing, no ambience whatsoever, there were several empty tables, despite it being a very busy Saturday evening, and the place and staff were very unwelcoming. The drinks were massively overpriced - £2.95 for a relatively small glass of lemonade, poured from a bottle of Shweppes. The first lemonade we received was completely flat (they took it back and opened a fresh bottle). On closer inspection of the menu, the £14.95 offer was a con - there were meals on the main menu that you could choose as a starter and main course, which would have come to less than that, so we certainly weren't getting a better deal by using the offer. Our starters were fine, however you can't really go wrong with garlic bread and tomato and mozzarella. For main course, I ordered a pizza, which whilst edible, was nothing special. My husband ordered a pasta dish, which was overcooked and extremely bland. He asked for some parmesan cheese (he specifically asked for parmesan, not just 'cheese') - the waitress came back with a pot of cheese, which she then started to put on his food. We very quickly realised that it wasn't parmesan, but just cheddar! When we questioned this, we were told 'this is the cheese we have' - I couldn't believe an Italian restaurant doesn't have authentic Italian parmesan to put on their food! My husband asked to see the manager, told her the dish was now ruined by the waitress scattering it liberally with cheddar and that we would not be paying for it. When we asked for the bill, they did indeed take off the cost of my husband's meal, however this didn't make up for the fact that the whole experience was hugely disappointing. The staff appeared to have no idea what they and each other were doing, there was an old man wandering through the restaurant, who I can only assume was the owner but wasn't actually doing anything, and the food was some of the worst Italian food I've ever come across. As a previous reviewer has said, this restaurant clearly remains in business by serving one-off customers who are probably tourists - I can't see anyone ever wanting to go back. Avoid at all costs.

Visited this restaurant with my parents, looking for some good Italian food. Wanted to go to the restaurant next door, but it was full, so looked at this place which was half full, so we thought it might be OK. The girl at the door quickly led us to our table, but we didn't receive any menus and there were none on the table. After 4-5 minutes waiting we asked for the menus (should not have done it). We ordered house red wine (as the selected bottle wasn't in stock) which was OK, but first we didn't receive our glasses. Then asked for them, and with the glasses we also received a scowl on the waitress's face. We went for a steak medium/rare with fries, a veal with a tomato/marsala sauce, mash and some extra broccoli on the side and a fish in garlic/lemon sauce where we asked for a garnish different to the one at the menu. About 30 minutes later our food arrived. The steak was totally dry, and didn't really look like a steak, much rather some cheap beef. The tomato/marsala sauce was too salty (this might be personal preference though), and the mash was missing. Had to ask two waitresses to get it, and by the time it arrived, the meat was getting cool. The mash was tasty though with some nutmeg. Instead of the fish we ordered, another was one delivered with our choice of garnish (apparently it was another item from the menu). Could have sent the hard steak and the non-ordered fish back at the beginning, but we were hungry, and the whole thing already took more time than expected. In the meantime another one or two waitresses came to our table to give us some pizza we didn't order, and the place looked disorganised altogether with around 3-4 waitressess wandering around, going out for some fresh air. There were two waitresses though who had a more professional behaviour, thanks for their help. In the end we didn't leave hungry, but certainly hugely disappointed. I don't recommend this restaurant.

Girl at the front door was very warm and welcoming, so in we went. The waitress who came to the table was surly and charmless. We requested a jug of tap water but got glasses of water instead. I ordered a design your own pizza which clearly caused great offence to the waitress judging by the loud harrumph and sigh she proclaimed. When it arrived the base appeared to be a large wholewheat chapatti quite unlike any pizza I have ever had. However it was crisp and tasty. My daughter also had pizza but was not impressed. My wife had risotto and was underwhelmed. We saw the majority of other tables complaining about the food and lots of food was not eaten. Several diners came to the bar area for more drinks as they could not catch the eye of the inattentive staff. Several tables appeared to have problems getting desserts and their bill. There was a very frail looking elderly man in dirty clothes wandering around staring unsmilingly at the diners. It was a little unnerving if not creepy. The gents toilet was disgusting. The smell of disinfectant was so strong it burnt my throat. We won't be going back and cannot believe this place has ever had a repeat diner.

We Dined here after a day trip to London and we were disappointed from the moment we set foot through the door. The decor is drab and uninviting, not dissimilar to the waitresses- who all had an attitude match. After sorting out drinks etc- which arrived in various states, some in a glass, some still in cans we ordered our food. This experience in itself was an ordeal, when it did finally arrive, it didn't all come together nor did it look appetising! What we ordered: 1) chicken wrapped in parma ham with a cream sauce. Literally 1 small dried out piece of chicken breast with a burnt bit of grilled bacon on top covered in cold double cream. REVOLTING!! When ordering we were told saute potatos accompanied this dish. When it arrived (15 minutes after the rest of our meal) we were told that we would have to share one small bowl of sauté potatoes ( burnt!! ) between us as the chef had run out of them (???) and were not offered any other side to compensate for this. 2) smoked salmon & brocolli with tagliatelle. This apparently tasted OK but there was very little evidence of any salmon being smoked or in fact present in the dish. 3)pizzas ... 2 slices were eaten from each sums up how utterly disgusting they were. The base was so thin it could have been sandpaper (sandpaper would have had more flavour) one was a goats cheese pizza - there was a single small piece in the centre. The tomato and cheese ( questionable) base looked and tasted like the variety you get out of a super market value brand jar. There was no sign of cheese on either of the pizzas. Our experience was so bad we were trying to signal to the few sparse diners in the room to save their money and walk out whilst they had the opportunity. The manager refused to come out and speak to us about our experience. The head waitress did take off 50% of the bill after much arguing, and even then I still feel we were being totally mugged! We made it clear on leaving to customers who were being seated how monumentally aweful this restaurant is. Words cannot describe the experience we had. Best advice, don't walk through the doors!! This is a restaurant that stays afloat by preying on tourists - I'd be very surprised if there was any returning custom. DO NOT EAT HERE!! A blot on Leicester square.

If you have allergies, need a table for more than 2 people or are hungry, I would avoid this restaurant. When I asked if they have wheat pasta as I am allergic to egg, the response was “yes we have food with pasta”Manager to the rescue and we established the pasta situation. We asked for a table for 8 and were told the wait will be about an hour – reasonable for a Saturday night in London. Oh wait, manager had better be consulted again.....no, they have a table available now. This should have been our first warning to walk away but our hungry stomachs took control.2 menus were plonked on our table which managed to get all the way around before we were given 2 more. After ordering our drinks...twice... then food, we sat waiting patiently for 50 mins before any meals emerged. The menu should have read:Spaghetti bolognaise – great if you are not hungry as portions are suitable for pixiesSausage and pepper pasta – don’t worry if you don’t like sausage much, we don’t put any in anyway.Pizza – served stone cold for your scoffing convenience – oh and if you asked for something to be taken off but we forgot, don’t worry, we will just pick it off for you in a matter of mins (4 to be exact) and give you the same cold pizza back.In the area there are around 7 other Italian restaurants, all with queues, there is a reason.

Called in for lunch on Sunday 8th July during weekend in London. The only plus i can give this place is the location. We were looking at the menu when a member of staff approached and mentioned a lunchtime special for 2 courses so we decided to give it a go. I have to agree with the previous reviewer in that the food was revolting at best. I would actually rate this place less than terrible if i could. Starter of garlic bread with cheese - the thinnest piece of bread humanly possible to produce with oil poured over it - no taste of garlic and no evidence of cheese. It was so thin it was like a poppadomThe main course faired no better either, again the pizza was so thin it was almost see through and made of Indian type chapati bread which I've not come across in a pizza before. Topping and flavour was minimal and i left the bulk of mine. I had fresh orange to drink, £2.95 for cheap carton from concentrate juice!I diner sat next to me also went from the special and judging my the amount of pasta he left it could be presumed his was as bad as ours.To be honest i wish after the started I'd canceled the main course, paid and left to find some decent food. This restaurant relies on one of customers it can cheat and never see again and if they have a chef he / she should be sacked as they are really not doing the restaurant any favours at all. When searching for them to leave review i noted several reviews on the 'allinlondon' website all of whom have had the same service and left similar reviewsPlease don't waste your money in this place, you WILL be disappointed, they don't care about your custom or if your return so don't give them your hard earned money. If the owners read this i am truly sorry but the food i experienced was truly the worts Italian food i have ever had in my 46 yrs on this earth

The food and service are a match made in Heaven. Appalling. Myself and three friends all ordered different dishes off the menu. When the food arrived which took an age, two of the dishes were completely wrong - both cold. The waitress had no interest. We explained the error. she removed the dishes and then avoided our table. We were ignored by other staff so we asked for the bill and had to be asked for the two dishes to be taken off. It was hard to believe that places like this still exist.

Stopped off for breakfast. Not too expensive and the Guy serving was hilarious and very chatty
