The Indian Streatery in Birmingham

The restaurant had a very warm friendly inviting atmosphere. The service was very good quick professional helpful efficient & friendly. We shared bel poori which was delicious with just enough spice but not over spiced. The channa betura was so sumptuous with tamarind infused over the top giving it a tangy flavour. Our main of keema ( lamb mince) with matter (peas) was very tasty coupled with jeera (cumin) rice was a match made in heaven. The battura bread accompanied the dishes very well. If you like street food, i would strongly recommend it. You can either book in advance or just walk in that makes it even more appealing

Really delicious food and great service. Had a lovely evening and the lamb curry was particularly yummy. Highly recommend.

Can't fault this unique Indian Restaurant. Great urban dining atmosphere, fabulous family inspired 'home' cooking, witjh welcoming an attentive staff. Menu is filled with unique offerings. My Chicken Chat starter was plentiful and had a was full of flavour. Choose 'tapas' style smaller dishes or more hearty sized mains. Lamb keema was fab. Would definitely return and recommend. Good choice of beer and wine too.

I wish there was a -5 option The staff was very rude and useless They served us stale and bland food when we ordered chicken curry. We specifically asked for it to be spicy and the waitress did not inform us that it could not be done. The food was cold when it arrived and very bland when we complained the staff member told us a story about adding cream and we should order something else and pay for it. Absolutely would not recommend if you want Indian food that tastes like actual Indian food -5/5

Food was absolutely amazing and affordable. 100% reccomend to anyone in birmingham for the weekend. Will not be disappointed.

It was great to have an Indian food every time. Mainly masala tea and lamb kofta was nice. And obviously the environment and staff named khusi treated us very well. We will visit next time also

Not even worth one star. Slow service rude staff! Food beyond awful !!! Ordered spicy wings that had no flavour just a lot of chilli flakes! Would not recommend! Save your money don’t come here!

My first visit and very enjoyable. Friendly and efficient staff. Good menu choice and a decent lager to go with my Chicken Curry, bead and raita. Fair price in my opinion.

Wonderful staff. Very good vegan options and staff explained these well. The food was delicious and I felt it was a good price for the portion sizes.

Many restaurants say or use the word, Streetfood. Well, rest assured this is from one of the daddy of street food location DDC. Yes. They started in Digbelth then set their roots in this fab spot. Cracking location with New St STN a few minutes walk away. This is a Fantastic restaurant. So good our future king & queen popped in.

Popped in yesterday for the first time and had a lovely delicious meal. I ordered several dishes, and was impressed with all of them, especially the Cannon Hill Park Picnic which was very nostalgic. The environment was clean and cosy, and the lady who served us was absolutely wonderful

Not a kid friendly place. Avoid if you are visiting with kids. We, a group of two families went in the afternoon for a quick snack. We were the only people in the restaurant then.Our kids (2 yrs) were hungry and couldn't withstand their spicy food, so we wanted to offer them outside food. The waitress said they don't allow outside food in the restaurant, and didn't care to explain why other than it's their rule. We had to feed our kids feed outside standing on the footpath among drunk people walking while part of our group stayed inside to order and wait for the food. The above could have been the lowest point of the experience, but it's not. The chole in the chole bhature was too oily and it was deeply unsettling after having it.

Really a disappointment after Visiting this restaurant. Firstly to be very honest the introduction to the menu was very quick however the food we ordered like the Tikki chaat and Methi Paneer seemed to be too salty and also when I requested for a ketchup for my Kid for whom we ordered chips the staff said they don't have ketchup which is a basic need in any restaurant . Also they gave me an alternate called Tamrind sauce which was sad and they charged me for it which was not fair. Somehow my overall experience and hospitality is not satisfying as I visited first time coming all way from a far off place. The welcome staff needs to be more gentle and have to deliver more caring and friendly hospitality. Sorry lots of comments but have to say this with no choice.

Great service from Sonny, food was delicious, we chose the lamb and spinach dish with aubergine side, masala fries and roti, superb. 5th time visiting and it didn't disappoint, we will be back!

Fourth visit to this great restaurant. The food is so different from the usual Indian restaurants. Great varied choice of dishes with great advice from friendly staff. Great value for money.

Great food - authentic and tasty.

Very small and loud place. Food wasn't good at all. V bland and very small portions. If you want authentic Indian, this is NOT the place to go! Don't waste your money !

Wow The food here is amazing. Lager on Draught was tasty also and good service. We had 4 of the street food plates between 2 of us plus a bread side. And we couldn't eat it all. 2 plates per person was plenty

I walked in off the street, didn’t know what to expect, asked the staff to order something that I’d really enjoy and make me want to find back … and that’s exactly what happened. Friendly service, great atmosphere and awesome food. I’ll be back!

Christmas meal for 5 @ 1715. Pre booked, delighted with attention to service, menu options, food delivery within approx 20 mins. All food fantastic and hot. Truly delicious and interesting menu. And it was fully stacked out busy. Well done 10/10 to all the team. Thank you.

Visited this restaurant with work colleagues x6 everything was spot on. They gave us an option of picking through the menu, or a set menu of their preference, could not fault a single thing. Service brilliant, food lovely 10/10 guys, see you soon 🙂

Had Lunch at The Indian Streatery with some work colleagues recently, has chicken curry and rice. The food was simply delicious. Nice and helpful staff.

Two of us visited this lovely little streatery for Monday lunch. Not particularly busy which was fine. Staff were polite, helpful & knowledgeable. We ordered vegetarian from the ‘Family favourites/Indian tapas’. This included the Bhartha, yellow dhal, palak paneer, and vegetable kofta with roti. The quality of the food was excellent, tasty & authentic. This was followed by cheesecake gulab jamun which was a nice surprise (not too sweet) to finish off. Slightly larger tapa portions for the price would get it 5 stars. Definitely looking forward to going back. Well done!

The experience here was great, it's my first time visiting and the customer service was amazing, Isha was really nice whilst attending to me and made sure you were fine. All in all, everything was nice. Thank you!

Too oily food. Not worth the money

A total disappointment. Food tastes below average; quality off the food is not worth the price; service time is too long.

The staff were reasonably friendly but the food is AWFUL. It is not Indian food and more like the worst tasting fast food ever. Some of it tasted inedible. 5 people ordered rice….so they gave us 1 bowl to share and there wasn’t enough to go round Be warned - they don’t sell Indian food and you can buy chicken wings !! Awful

We were recommended to go here and we were glad we did. My husband and I shared a variety of vegetarian dishes and we really enjoyed the aubergine dish and the paneer dish. The staff were very friendly. Our own very slightly comment was the place was not warm. However if we were in Birmingham again we would definitely visit here.

We visited this restaurant for the first and last time ever. The food was on that time looks good but after i had food and left restaurant i got stomach pain even i didn't have any allergies, i don't recommend this to anyone. Even there tables very small not spacious Xxxxxxxx

The food was good. It literally served 'Ghar jaisa Khana pardesh mai'. Although the place is small, the ambience is good.

Easy relaxed atmosphere, different from other Asian restaurants but food was delicious. I tried more vegetarian dishes than I normally would and they were superb. My wife had the tempura battered chicken wings which she said were the best that she had ever tasted. Definitely one to go back to the next time we’re in Birmingham

Probably the friendliest staff I have ever met, and the food was outstanding. As someone who has lived and worked amongst Punjabi lads, and been regularly fed by them on site, the food was a beautiful and had that home cooked feel. Go there you will not be disappointed.

It was my 2nd time here and this restaurant is just fantastic! The food was incredibly flavorful, with that perfect homely vibe that made it feel so comforting. And Isha was just extremely sweet —her warmth and kindness made the whole experience even more special. Can’t wait to come back! (found my ghar wali feeling here)

This is one of the best places I've ever eaten. You can taste all the full flavours in the food, staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. The cocktails are amazing! Highly recommend

Lovely staff and great atmosphere -would recommend sitting in. Our chole bhatura was a bit too oily but tasted good and the deconstructed samosa chaat was delicious.

Nice little find in Birmingham. They accommodated us without a reservation which was very kind. The food in itself was lovely. However, the paneer fries were so sparse for the price and the batura was more of a naan than a puri. The service was excruciatingly slow albeit very kind when we had any interaction. The drinks were nice. Wish the menu had more photos so that we could see the portion sizes. Overall it was top on food taste, couldn’t fault it (except the batura), and nice location. Sweet ambience. Would visit again.

Food was not fresh. Someone needs to do a hygiene check as its quite concerning what I ate. I've been unwell since eating here. Also they cover everything with a tamarind bottle sauce. There are so many better choices in town such as Pushkars, Dishoom, Asha's, ithihaas. Compare the quality you get at all these other restaurants compared to here.

Food quality and taste has massively declined since the restaurant opened. They just smother everything with tamarind sauce. In terms of service, they take a while to bring out the food, which would be fine if they then didn’t give you 20 minutes to eat it.

The crispy samosa, mixed with rich chutneys and fresh ingredients, makes it a real standout on the menu. It’s the kind of dish that keeps you coming back, making your taste buds dance with joy. I’m sorry I missed taking pictures to capture the beauty of the dishes, but trust me, the presentation was just as lovely as the ambiance itself. Despite a miss with the pani puri, the overall experience at Indian Streatery is lovely – the ambiance is wonderful, the staff are welcoming, and many of the dishes, like the Samosa Chaat, are definitely worth trying. It's a place full of potential and flavor, just a little refinement away from perfection.

Just left after an afternoon in Birmingham with a friend, seen previous reports so thought we'd give it a try, the service and food was superb. , not sure what we were ordering so did so on staff advice and had an exceptional meal.. lamb, chicken, breads, pakora etc... Superb, will return whenever in Birmingham.. Top marks..!!

Really nice food, with great service (Abhi was my main server, but several checked in to see if I needed anything). Fantastic advice about different dishes, how much to order & even how to eat some of them (the "down in one" Pani Puri)! Music was a tiny bit loud for my taste, but that's personal preference I guess!

The Indian Streatery offers a fantastic blend of authentic Indian flavours with a modern twist. The dishes are bursting with spices, and the street food-inspired menu brings a unique and fresh dining experience. The atmosphere is vibrant, and the staff are welcoming and attentive. The Kulchar, in particular, is highly recommended as an excellent accompaniment to any dish.

Love the food and vibe here. Manager Khushi is a friendly and welcoming. Would recommend this little place to all. I celebrated my birtgday here and will always be memorable. Must must try. We will be back again.

Samosas are not made consistently. But the Black Dhaba Dal Combo is very tasty and healthy. Staff is very friendly.

Great food and great service. Eaten here several times and the staff are always pleasant and greet you with a smile. Today I had the pleasure of being served by Khushi, and was very flexible when I asked to change my takeout order to eat-in. I have recommended this place to colleagues and they have all raved about the food too. Would highly recommend to all who are in Birmingham City Centre.
