The Indian Streatery Express in Birmingham

The Indian Streatery Express is a really nice place for having Indian street food (chaat). The Indian dishes we ordered were super delicious along with a cup of Indian masala tea. I was so craving for the Indian chaat and when I had it; it was just like I had in India. The wrap was quite filling. Samosa was nicely balanced with spices and flavours with dips. Overall, a great place to have Indian chaat. Highly recommended!

Maximum food was not available and serving time was too high

The chicken used in the homemade chicken dish tasted quite bad. Other items like paneer and rice were also average.

We visited last week in Birmingham and had a horrid experience at this place. Visit only to spoil your evening :-( 1. Food is very bland and very unlike Indian food. Their spicy chicken wings were actually sweet and uncooked. 2. They serve starters and main course in one go and place it on small table. It doesn't look good and one has to eat very carefully. When requested Manager if they main course be served later, she denied it. After much argument, they took main course way and served it cold later. 3. They won't change your soiled plates and very arrogantly ignore your request. 4. Manager said she would take moeny off for uncooked food. We paid bill thinking they would have taken money off but when I checked bill it wasn't. I approaced manager for mistake in bill and very reluctantly she did the refund. 5. Staff is generally rude and arrogant. They are serving food and moving around with their hair freely flowing. P.S: Fresco of map of India is incorrect.

In Google it shows the store is next to pizza hut and Nando’s but I had a hard time in searching it. Finally couldn’t find, little more information about how to access the store would be helpful.

Went to have quick food as it is mentioned express, I was hungry and I had to eat or else I was going to give them back the food. The service is not at all good and the food tastes really bad. They take the money but forget why they took it for and forget to serve. As I work at a restaurant I quite know how that should be done and I'm not a master at that but they really need training. Quantity and quality doesn't match the price. Tea was the worst.

The menu is limited but the food is nice and the service from staff is great. Very lively atmosphere. Will definitely recommend

Had the tikka fries and the home style chicken and they were sooooo good

We've been here 5 or 6 times and really enjoy the great food, especially the Homestyle Curry. The food quality is better than in many more expensive and formal restaurants. Keep up the good work!

The food was good but it was really expensive. Especially chapati, It's more than one and half pounds and it's not even a big one it's just a simple small roti divided into four pieces.

Good tea, and masala chips. Small little place which has good ambience too

I ordered curry bowl with chilli panner. The rice is not boiled appropriately. However, panner is good. Much appreciated Achnit for his service.

Food was ok, we got the chat but it wasn’t really. It’s was a bit too oily as well. Chai was nice and service was as expected.

Food no great at all and cold and when something is said they will refuse to change or offer an solution, so after spending a lot of money we left hungry as the food wasn’t nice wouldn’t recommend at all Lovely restaurant but not good food

What a great place to eat if you like Indian Street food. Lovely food, atmosphere and helpful staff, you must give it a try.

Only good part is location, food pathetic and not good at all. For the price one should expect decent quality if not great. Wont recommend anyone. No taste or spices typically in Indian food. No flavour,

Very rude my husband can’t eat halal meat upon realising it was from a other customer as it didn’t state on the Menu or on the restaurant it’s self he had eaten a small amount of the chicken he want to get a refund they then told him he couldn’t have a refund because he had eaten a Tiny amount after saying he can’t eat the meat due to religious reasons he was then told he should ask next time then and was very rude with him and the restaurant it’s self was unclean had to clean the table myself I do not recommend

We went to have a quick bite expecting good indian chat after seeing the great reviews. The food isn't good at all! We ordered samosa chat and pani puri. The supposed pani( spiced& flavoured water) was so bland it felt like they served plain water!!!

Came with ninjamessi0523, . We both had a mind boggling experience. Would recommend to everyone and their dogs.

Just tried the Pakora Chaat - Unique and it was Excellent !!! A must try. Will defo return for the others on the menu ....

No value for money, Sticky food tables, moderate quality of foods are served, smelly bread are used for wraps. Never recommend to anyone.

It’s coming from an Indian so take it people! The tea (masala chai tea) takes like water with fennel seeds crushed in it. The curry is good Never order a naan bread or kulcha, it’s not even close to a naan bread. (Some flaky bread) The pani puri water is literally lemon water. Went in after reading several reviews but I am very upset with the food!

Ordered a couple of Items, One item was chilli paneer from the menu which came with chips but there were hardly any Paneer cubes. When asked the employee he told we just give 5 paneer cubes. Is this a joke ?

First time here and absolutely appalled. Ordered a chicken tikka wrap for £6.50 (doesn’t include drink or fries etc) Firstly the manager called suchin made the wrap and was touching it with ungloved hands and then touching his t shirt. I think this is gross and very poor hygiene but tried to overlook this as didn’t want to create a fuss and have to find elsewhere to eat. He then brought across my wrap. The wrap was poorly filled and floppy but held together by the foil it was wrapped in. I proceeded to eat the wrap and half way through I realised there was no chicken and nor could I see any chicken pieces. I spoke to the manager who told me he had to speak to the owner diraj! He came back to me with the offer of refunding 3.25 as I had eaten half the wrap so couldn’t refund the rest! Bear in mind that there was not a single piece of chicken in the half I had eaten so essentially I had paid half a for salad wrap. I’m shocked at this service! I’ve never ever experienced this in the food industry! You have taken money and not provided the food I paid for! Awful! Also on a side note there was no high chairs and also the shop needed a proper clean! The table surfaces and floors were sticky! Absolutely disgusted!

A smaller restaurant with welcoming staff, and great service with affordable prices, I tried the popular Bhelpuri, has great taste and flavours, this time the popular Masala Chai which blends well with the Indian Street Food was run out.

Went there craving good Indian food... The chicken curry tasted very bad and seemed to be frozen.... the chilli paneer also was equally bad.... Naan was average.... Chain was good.....

Friendly staff. Jeevan the manager was very polite. Love the spice & Enjoyed the food. Will be returning again. Keep up the good work.

Popped into this shop as I could smell it from a far. Didn't regret it. I literally go to city centre just to get this food now. Wish the shop was a bit bigger because I can imagine that it's going to be packed out in the summer.

Pakoras were good. Chai was lukewarm & way too sweet. The Chicken Curry was bland. Seems like they just added curry powder and chili. No flavors and depth to the dish. My first and last time eating here.

The masala tea was very cold and not tasty ,a street vendor can make better panipoori than here

Gol gappe (pani puri) were quite nice. Lack in favour strength but still really good!! Could do with a bigger portion

£6.95! For a great big serving of chicken chickpeas and sauce which packed a real flavourful punch. It’s not as prominent as the other eateries but go for it I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Went there for brunch as there was a queue for Bill's. I am so glad I ended up here because the food was absolutely fantastic!!! Best Pani Puri I've had in forever. If you're hungry go here because the food gets to you so quickly!

Waited awhile for food for then to notify me the naan isn't vegan despite them saying it was at first.. could of used that time and went else where

Fantastic Malasa Fries. Exquisite Malasa Chai. Every time I've been there, they never disappoint! Friendly and welcoming service. 110% recommend.

Love love love the chilli panner roll here. Also the Samosa's are at such an affordable price. With the great location of the place it ends up being a mid-shopping stop everytime for me and my friends. I've recommended this place to everyone. Mango Lassi and Masala chai are a must!!

My vegan friend was initially served a chicken curry, which they took back and replaced with her actual order. Then we were waiting for at least 45 mins for her chips. We asked the staff multiple times and we never got them. Eventually the waiter came out and we were essentially accused of lying as we were told that they had already sent us 4 portions of chips. This clearly hadn’t happened - we even showed them how many empty bowls we had on our table. One of the staff had obviously made a mistake and given these chips to the wrong table. Manager clearly doesn’t care about customer service. We weren’t even that bothered about the chips, it was the principle of being accused of lying over a £4 portion of chips and being made to wait while other tables were served. Ridiculous. The poor waiter was trying his best but was made to be a messenger between disappointed customers and a manager who couldn’t be bothered to come speak to us himself.

I Visited Saturday amazing experience the managers Jeevan and sushan where extremely helpful as it was my first time will definitely be coming back again food was really tasty I loved the homestyle chicken curry and the yellow daal was absolutely amazing if you want real authentic indian food this is the place

We went there today. But food quantity is awful. We ordered chilli panner wrap. It wasnt even made correctly and hardly anything in there. They charged me full which I wasn't impressed with at all. Will not be going back there.

I really like my Indian street food but the food here was anything but authentic. The table was sticky, and my partner asked for a damp table cloth to wipe it down. So, rather than show some professionalism, by cleaning the table for us, the waitress threw the cloth on the table and walked away. I ordered the homestyle chicken curry, which i was expecting to be a large, well spicy and garnished dish. But it was small, bland and very watery. My relative ordered 2 samosas, which arrived with a bit of tamarind sauce. She thought it was spicy but it was just full of potatoes with a bit of seasoning. This again is not authentic street food. If you want to waste £5 to £7 on inedible food, this is the place to go. If you want proper authentic Indian street food, avoid this venue. So disappointed, so don't bother.

Poor food. Ordered samosa chaat, basically a samosa with sholay and the chilli paneer was not chilli paneer. More of a paneer watered down curry. No flavour to the dishes. Also surprising doesn’t stock water bottles.

Welcoming staff, some of the dishes from the main Bennett’s Hill main restaurant are also on the menu with some exclusive additions for this location. The food quality is consistent, never lets me down. Great for a quick bite, will definitely be back as always for the meaty fries and pakora fried chicken burger

Amazing, quick service, staff were friendly and helpful when I asked about vegan options. I had the vegan curry with rice (without the mint yoghurt) and it was delicious, large portion full of delicious flavours!

The staff here are lovely. Great service, really created that friendly environment. And the food was really good.

Quick service and satisfying food, but I would prefer to have paid less for their portion sizes. Their staff are pleasant to interact with and made the experience all the better.

I went in during my lunch break, the staff were super friendly and the service was great! The food was amazing… and was made so quickly!! Would deffo recommend if you’re after something quick and on the go!

Worst customer experience ever! They close by 7pm but they stop taking order at 6.30 which would have been fine, only if they would have bothered to inform the same to their customers when they are picking up menu from counter.

The service is outstanding! Nothing is ever too much hassle for the staff and they’re always so polite. I came in slightly late at 7pm yet they never refused to serve me and the food was absolutely delicious. I’d totally recommend eating here. The tall indian boy was particularly funny and made it a great experience. The pani puri was to die for!!!

There’s more taste in a 50 year old chewing gum

The portion size is tiny. Order mixed veg with rice, samosa chaat and veg wrap. It was all the same stuffing in everything. Kulcha was served with no curry and it was just a parantha. Taste of everything was horrible. Overrated and expensive, never again.

Worst and dumb staff at this place.i went there on Thursday and they took order and let me wait for ages and finally I come to know that they took my money and refused me plainly that u haven't gave any order to us...its a shame to have this place in heart of Birmingham.not recommended at all.

Pathetic service and rude staff, also very small portions

Just tried the chicken tikka wrap. Very nice tangy, good sauce. Staff polite. Veg samosa bland but the sauce made up for it. Good size samosa. So overall nice place and worth a try.

Had their chats for lunch !! Took the samosa and pakora chat. Both were amazing. Great taste , not so pricey. Very much affordable , great and friendly staff , would definitely visit again and recommend too
