The Indian Garden in East Cambridgeshire

Placed online order , it was waiting for a while for the confirmation from the restaurant, so I thought I will call , no answer. Driven there and it's closed ! Luckily paid by PayPal so have my money back

Ordered a takeaway using the Indian Garden app on the 6th Sept at 17.59 for a delivery, waited over 3 hours, still no food arrived. I called over 40 times, was either engaged or rang out with no answer. I even called the next day, still no answer. I've just learned that they were evicted on the 5th September! But they still took my payment of £81.70 online. I'm absolutely disgusted with the sheer audacity of taking my money with no intention of providing the food, you should be ashamed of yourselves!!!!

We have just come back from London where we visited Colonel Saab and in our opinion the quality of food is much better, atmosphere is very good and the staff very attentive. Highly recommend you pay this Indian restaurant I visit

We'd been missing the Fordham branch that was destroyed in a fire a couple of years ago, so decided to eat here. The food was as delicious as we remembered. Portion sizes are generous, and we didn't have to wait long. The building is getting a bit old and tired, but you're not going to eat the building! Worth the journey.

Good food. Generous portions. Good pickle tray. Not too much oil; which can be a plus or minus depending on how you like your BIR! Maybe the vegetable sides were a bit dry (cooked like a Sabzi) would have been nice to have been more liquid? Would go again or order takeaway. Heat ratings slightly exaggerated i.e. a 3 chilli is about medium in other places. Very enjoyable family Friday night meal.

PRICES INCORRECT! We visited on a Friday night and were given the restaurant menus, we then had our meal (food wasn’t great, the butter chicken was watery), we asked for the bill and the price didn’t correspond with the menu. The butter chicken on the menu was £9.50 and on the bill was £13. We asked to see the menu to double check we were right, the waiter said that the menus were old and incorrect, the real prices were on the takeaway menu - which were NOT given to us at the start of the meal. We told the waiter we were not happy to pay the price on the bill and he refused to change it even though we told him it was illegal to sell food with wrong prices. Just to warn those that are wanting to dine here, we ended up paying £15 more than we were supposed to, the waiters did not seem to care and continued to say he would tell the boss who was not present.

This is the very best Indian restaurant. The food, the service , everything. Excellent in every way. The King Prawn Kulna is particularly superb.

Food was mostly good, however, missing a portion of onion bhajis and were unable to get through on the phone. For the price we paid we were disappointed this time.

Had a takeaway from India Garden tonight for the first time- possibly the best Lamb Dhansak I've had in my life. Reasonably priced, quick turnaround and immense flavour.

Curry was excellent. The onion bhajis were inedible. They were burned or overcooked. Rock hard and had to go in the bin. Otherwise, an excellent meal as always.

the butter chicken is not butter chicken. It's sweet and full of crunchy coconut. Disappointed

Please don't order takeaway. I have waited 2 hours I spent £70 no food I said if not here by 8 want a refund he said driver was on way I asked if lying he said no 1958 refund issued. Food had not been cooked or out for delivery

the food was ok-ish however my korma was absolutely swimming in water - I probably could have poured about five egg-cup fulls at least out of the dish, so unfortunately it was a bit washed out

Always order our food from here. Jay is always amazing and has something to offer when looking for recommendations. The food is always well cooked and smells/looks great. Take away service is always busy.

DO NOT EAT HERE: Digging into a Chicken Curry and near the end of my meal I find what looks like a baby cockroach in my food, when we spoke to the cook and owners they justified the reason as that it could have been put in after the cooking (as if that makes it any better) I have photographic proof of this and proceeded to ban us for bringing this up. I beg if you want to eat at an Indian Restaurant. DO NOT EAT HERE! 🥹🥹🥵

We had a lovely meal in the restaurant. The food was all hot, tasty, and nicely cooked. The portion sizes are generous too. The waiters were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely return. Another tip: if you've hired a boat and you're on the river, this is a great place nearby to come to when you've moored up. We did it last year, and it makes for a very pleasant evening.

Unbelievable experience tonight turned up on a Wednesday night with no more than 4 tables already seated to say why haven't we booked and basically told us not welcome you should book next time no worries to us enjoyed a lovely indian else where I think they think they are the only indian Sylhet in ely spot on and they care.

Food was so-so, chicken was pretty dry alas, but somehow also pink still! They also managed to send the wrong dish, 2x Malayan instead of 1, and 1 Korma. Probably won't be ordering again due to the mistakes and overcooked food.

On contacting the restaurant I got told the restaurant is very busy so I'd just have to wait! I was still a customer just not within the premises so didn't seem to be respected as one! A paid for meal wether I'm in the building or not is still paying customer!

It says our food was delivered but we've not had it delivered. Its 23:16 and we orderd 9:30ish PM. Your mobile number doesn't work. I'm pregnant and my partner is diabetic, you left us with no food. I'm sorry, but at this point, I've got to leave a disappointing review.

Best flavour and portion size in the area

Really good portions giving great value for money. The food was excellent, and delivered quickly so it was nice and hot. Couldn’t ask for more, definitely recommend.

I have been here a few times and the food is above par, the tandoori chicken I had tonight was spot on, jalfezi wasn't as hot as I'm use to but left a little bit of a building heat in mouth and lips, which in essence is what you want as it means the spices have been fried off in general. However I would of wanted it a little more spicy (I'm sure they would accommodate that of I ask as the service is great). There was a little confusion as I ordered online through a new system so my order was overseen so had to wait a while but the staff and owner were apologetic and gave me a Fanta and coke (glass bottles) which let's be honest aren't cheap being glass bottles. The only issue I had was a couple that came in and complained about the Asian music and then ordered English tea! Not Indian! (I know) which was obviously not available. Staff and owner handed it well and I would like to just say to them that pls ignore cavman like this. End on a positive note, good value for money and will go yet again.

A different take on a classic, certainly the recipe was a little different to how I have had it previously, but different is not necessarily bad. It was a good variation. Quick enough delivery, although on a Sunday night I might have hoped for better, if I’m being super critical and brutally honest. Delivery driver was friendly and respectful of property, always nice to see.

Second time ordering from Indian gardens through just eat as phone lines were busy. And both times food was delivered late

Took 1hr & 55 mins for food to arrive! When I first phoned to chase they told me the driver had just left - after another 20 mins I phoned again to be told the same thing! Delivery charge is £3 and we literally live on the same street - seem to always have issues with late delivery!

Best curry in the area if you are dining in the restaurant along with friendly service. Will be visiting again very soon!

Now totally Useless delivery service, one week took 100mins, this week nothing arrived at all, I tell you all don't use them for delivery service at all.

Has to be the worst Indian we have ever eaten. Food was cold, every dish tasted the same from Tikka Masala to Korma. Everything was like eating sweet coconut and the rice was awful. Never again 😒

Great takeaway - one of the best we’ve had! We were moored on the river and found this a short walk away and got some yummy food. Onion bhajees, chicken tikka biryani (huge portion!), dansak and rice and naan. Fresh and delicious- I loved it all as did hubby. Very glad you’ve got a restaurant in Fordham which is just down the road!

Been using this restaurant for many years. Sadly falling into past bad habits. Poor delivery service, incompetent delivery drivers and uncaring phone staff. Sadly when ordering online they have your money long before you get your food so you are at their mercy. Not even bothered when I told them I would be going elsewhere in the future

We think they've changed the chef. This used to be a fantastic restaurant that we visited twice a month but the last four visits we have made have been very poor.

Great restaurant. Yummy food and good size portions. Delivery is always 30 mins on a weekday and can be up to 1 hour on busy days.

Called to chase but number you give is wrong, then found a number and was lied to by management several times. They wouldn't know how to be honest with customers if their lives depended on it. And the food wasn't great or worth the wait!

Why oh why can the staff not be honest? Placed order through Just Eat, confirmation of delivery 1915 to 1930. That came and went, called the restaurant... three different stories given. Told was taken out for delivery at 1920... we live off Parsons Lane so not far. 1945, no delivery. The person on phone said was out for delivery with one other when called earlier, now another 3 had miraculously bern taken.... said he had called the driver and would be 2 minutes. Driver turns up 1955, with a freshly cooked meal. The owners had decided to send someone else's orders before us even though we placed first...and lied three times about what was happening. I hate liars and will never use this place again. One true word would have helped, but not a single honest comment passed. Customer service epic fail

Very friendly staff was a bit worried after reading some of the reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised. Jay and his team looked after us the good and the wine was good. Very large portions!! I would definitely go back

A really really good Indian!! Had one of the recommended dishes, something slightly different and it was lush. Portions are a sensible size ie quality not quantity as such which I think is much more important. Service is exceptional - being new to area I didn’t know there was a curry house and I was surprised; this place is really good food! Not cheap but well worth it

Such a shame that the delivery is an absolute shambles, totally atrocious, if I could give it zero stars I would - 3 times now the food has been ordered to be delivered over an hour and a half later, so plenty of time, and on all occasions has been woefully and unacceptably late by over an hour - even calling the restaurant had little effect with fob-offs as to why the food was late. This is such a shame when the food is generally very good!

Although the food was on time -this time - our main dishes of Chicken Tikka Mossalla and Chicken Paitia were completely overloaded with coconut. My husband had to scoop chunks of it from the top of his dish, which is not usual for a patia, and mine was so sweet it became inedible after a while. However the rest of the meal was ok.

When ordering it stated 35 minutes for delivery, once confirmed it changed to 1hour and 30 minutes and then took another 30 minutes on top of that time. Had to phone the restaurant twice and both times were told it was on the way which took 25 minutes to be delivered. Not good service.

Didn’t turn up?? How do I get my money back?

Before the delivery driver even arrived he called me telling me it was my fault that they were late because of where we live, which is strange as they have delivered to us on more than one occasion before and it was not a problem. Also our village is clearly listed in the list of villages they deliver to, and they had our post code and could have simply refused the order. Instead the driver decided it was our fault the food was late and so cold, although I’m pretty sure the house did not move in the more than 2 hours after we placed the order and gave them the postcode.

Well, this was the best curry I’ve had in the years I’ve been living in Ely! Really lovely. Mixed grill starter was all delicious. A plain old chicken tikka masala was spectacular. The salmon kebab - a new one on me at an Indian restaurant- was to die for. Thanks!

We cannot recommend the paneer curries more highly. Just delicious, really really delicious. One of the best takeaway meals we have had.

Really disappointed,, we ordered at 6 pm and didn’t arrive until 8.30 pm, and then the food was all cold so was really a let down for the amount of money we spent. I appreciate the man on the phone was apologetic and gave us some popadoms and sauce free , but we were very much looking forward to it and were completely let down.

Great food but only 0ne member of staff having to deal with everything so some people left without ordering food. It was such a shame the service let it down. But I will say the gentleman who was on his own did his best for us.
