Great breakfast - fast, tasty, good value for money. Only negative was the scrambled egg as it was far too wet for my liking. Friendly, efficient staff. Would go again.

been going to the imp for a for years now about once a week but in the last month the food seems not to be up to its normal standard sad but staff and service still great

Called here for breakfast yesterday. We both had the Traditional breakfast which was excellent.It is excellent value for money and you also get coffee or fruit juice included in the price. It consisted of bacon,egg,hash brown,sausage ,tomatoe,,mushrooms,beans and if you like it black pudding.As we don't like black pudding the Manager gave us an extra piece of .bacon.He was very welcoming when we arrived and friendly throughout. We eat here quite often and always find the staff very friendly and helpful.Also it is always very clean.

Last time we were here food was great gone downhill now small portions and tough chicken sorry won’t be in a hurry to return

After reading some of the reviews I'm hoping our experience was a flux. Our server was a round-faced brunette girl who was incredibly rude, she slammed our plates down and as for ‘service with a smile’ this was more ‘service with a frown!’ Never have I ever felt so unwelcome. The food was average, but we had to ask for any condiments as she never asked if we wanted any. Very disappointed after reading how nice the staff usually are. This girl clearly thought too much of herself and came across as spoilt. Don't know her name, but she spoiled our romantic evening.

The waitresses were great but the food not so. I had chicken korma there was only 3 small peices of chicken and the sauce was very watery. The popadoms were stale. All 3 of us had the malteeser and salted caramel sundae i had half a malteeser my mum had none . Wouldnt go again

We had a family gathering for Dad/grandads birthday as well as our daughter, grandson and granddaughter. Food was brilliant , service was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. Even though there was around twenty of us there. Would definately recommend it. Thank you all. 👍

We rang and booked as it was the air show in Southport. There were 14 of us including children. The imperial has a good car park with some tables outside too. The interior is very pleasant and all the staff are well dressed. We found everyone efficient and pleasant. I had fish and chips they were delicious and the mushy peas too (I make mine at home, so I know good mushy peas!) Everything was hot, crispy, and very enjoyable. My husband enjoyed the ultimate burger, again hot tasty and good portions. We tried the house wine which was very good too. Will definitely go again when in Southport. Worth the little extra walk beyond lord street.

Visiting Southport on a day trip, decided to walk into the centre. Passing The Imperial Joseph Holt pub had a sign advertising breakfast so decided to try it. Had traditional breakfast and eggs Benedict with unlimited tea and coffee. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food excellent quality and enough to satisfy an appetite. High chairs clean and working properly with straps . Will definitely call again.

This pub was close to our accommodation in Southport, so handy for a drink or two! It is a big dining pub with lots of room inside and outside - with nice patio seating areas and beach huts. There was a weekly quiz going on when we frequented and we joined in the music round. The staff were incredibly friendly and good at their job. The place was spotlessly clean including the toilets. We also looked at the menu which was impressive and we planned to eat there the next day but something else cropped up - maybe next time we visit Southport!?

Beautiful food. Not a bad price. Plenty of inside and outside eating space including cute little colourful beach huts. Staff were professional, helpful and friendly.

We visit a lot as a family of four and always have a great experience. My youngest daughter has a peanut allergy and the staff here are right on top of it. The first question they ask when ordering is ‘are there any allergies?’. They’ve changed the menu a couple of times to make it more expensive which is the reason I’ve only given 4 stars. The food isn’t fantastic but it is good, the service from the staff is excellent and the whole experience is a great one!

Must say from the off we totally enjoyed our food and the staff looked after us impeccably..what ruined our dining experience was the presence of a group of people..who we believe were visiting management..talking aloud above our enjoyment of our meal..they made our dining experience very uncomfortable ..

Booked the imp for my wife's birthday on Sunday 23rd April We had 18 adults and 2 children all family The area we had was brilliant all together and a separate table was laid in with an ice bucket for the prosecco We had a variety of meals ranging from Sunday roasts with either beef, gammon or falf a roast chicken,buttermilk chicken burger, steak/ale pie, cheese/onion pie fish/ chips and kids meals, All were brought out at the same time, piping hot and excellently presented, hygiene was spot on The atmosphere was great ,the service was excellant the ambience was superb and nothing was to much trouble Danny and his team are to be congratulated on a well run venue Special thanks to the kitchen staff who fed us, we'll done ,keep bringing that standard of food out and we will keep coming in to eat it Thank you all for a great day, my wife really enjoyed her special day

We have eaten at 'The Imp' for the last 9 or 10 years and, sadly, it is not as enjoyable as it used to be. The place is fine with tables well spaced apart, most of the staff are good (special thanks to Katy) and the food is ok, although the menu has become boring. Our major disappointment this time was with the young man (assistant manager?) who took our drinks order. I specifically asked for a wine on the 'buy 2 large glasses and the rest of the bottle is free' offer but, when our bill came, our PG Blush was almost £19! It would have been good if he had told me that our wine was not in the offer. That kind of 'sharp practice' is not what we expect at 'The Imp'. I couldn't find him to discuss it when we paid.

I came here for lunch last Tuesday and it was very nice, I had sausages and mash and I had sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The facilities were very clean and many precautions were taken in order to ensure that you could dine safely. It was nice here and I would come again.

This is my local, I have previously only had positive things to say about this place. I was very disappointed today. Was not greeted with the usual welcome. The woman who normally runs the dining area was clearly not working tonight, and it showed. We had prebooked a table, which is advisable. When ordering at the bar I asked a question about the 2 for £13 offer, and was informed by the server that this was not running as it was 'half price' INSTEAD. I questioned this, the girl asked another girl working the dining area to clarify, and she confirmed this was the case. Now, I'm no legal expert but isn't FALSE AND MISLEADING advertising illegal in this country? I had already checked on the website that the 2 for £13 offer was running, indeed it informed me that the deal was on Monday to Thursday for selected mains. The paper menu on the table ALSO confirmed this. And a large blackboard in the pub also had the same DEAL written on it in large lettering. Shame on you for advertising this deal in 3 separate media and failing to comply with it. Your reason being the food is half price. The 50% off is a benefit to me, the customer, you claim the money back from the government! I realise revenue was dessimated during enforced closure, and your offers are your business. However, do not advertise them FALSELY as you are. I wonder what trading standards will think of such false advertising? As for the food, we tried the sharing nachos which we had never had before. The portion for sharing was sadly disappointing. The sour cream was very firm, and no where near the quality of a supermarket tub of it. I had the house salad which was very good. We were not even given napkins for the nachos which can be messy - we had to ask for them. We were provided with cutlery after our meal was served. We were never checked on during our meal, but did notice tables nearby were asked if everything was OK part way through. We have been here so many times in the last 2 years (moved to the area 2 years ago), and we have had many of our family celebrations here. This was the first place we wanted to visit after lock down (and did). I am extremely disappointed and really don't think I want to return.

First time here on a Sunday and have to say thoroughly enjoyed the Sunday roast. My friends all had different meals but all enjoyed them. Staff were very friendly and very attentive. Was quite happy to get our meals from the table behind us so the staff didn’t have to come too close. Would definitely come again.

We have now eaten at 'The Imp' twice since the reopening and we have felt very comfortable and safe both times. The staff have been well trained for the new normal, there are screens on the bar, the tables are well spaced with a serving table between two dining tables for distancing to the server. Ok, the menu isn't wonderful but the food is good, the service is very good and the value for money is good. It just feels great to be able to go out for a meal again so, as I said, it's great to be back.

I was visiting Southport to see my family and my sister recommended we go here. I saw one member of staff the whole time, we had to ask for the table to be wiped down and the young girl that was serving our food put the food on a completely different table for us to go and get ourselves. I understand she didn’t want to get too close but she was wearing a mask and many other restaurant staff give the food to us and then step away.

The imperial was always going to be our first port of call coming out of lockdown.On arrival we were greeted by the manager Dan and asked to scan the track and trace app and hand sanitise. The pub was well laid out and has everything in place, not the usual buzzing atmosphere but calm and organised, spotlessly clean disposable menus ,food was delicious as usual and staff well organised, we will be back very soon well done, the beer garden appeared to be very organised too.

You a greeted by a member of the team with a friendly face. They walk through what you need to do to stay safe(COVID-19) in a ver professional manner. You feel safe and informed while you visit. The price for beer is very good too!

My partner and I have come here quite a few times - each time bringing someone with us to enjoy the experience. And we have never been disappointed! Beer is reasonably priced, and the food it's delicious! Decor is nice, although I never like to see a arcade grab machine in a venue - cheapens it slightly! The Hanging Kebabs are to die for and come with a beautiful garlic butter that drizzles down from a hole in the top of the skewer! Maybe 2 slices of pitta would be better for the size of the kebab though!

Visited today 19th Feb lunchtime with a friend. The food was above average “pub grub”. Well priced, presented and tasty. What stood out to me was the fabulous friendly service we received. I was asked immediately before ordering if anyone in party had any special food allergies or requirements. Never been asked that before in a pub. We didn’t, but full marks there! At the time a young girl was being trained and I was impressed with the way this was handled. She wasn’t left floundering as is case in so many situations. Lovely warm ambience and although busy we didn’t feel rushed or had to wait long. We had a long leisurely catch up in comfortable surroundings. Very well done to all at The Imperial.

My partner and I called in as a last resort when we couldn't find a convenient takeaway open on a Sunday evening visiting my mother in Southport - a town that I hate. Staff were lovely and friendly. We were delighted to find they were serving until 10pm so we didn't have to rush. We were even more delighted when we both saw tasty interesting menu items at a reasonable price so it took no time at all to choose.I am vegetarian with an intolerance of starchy foods such as potatoes and pasta, so was overjoyed to find a vegan curry served with cauli rice on the menu... and it did not disappoint. My partner loves flavoursome meat dishes so was also overjoyed with his lamb tagine. We were enjoying ourselves so much we chose two vegan desserts and again they were stunning. The beer (Two Hoots) was lovely and one I've never seen anywhere else.I usually hate eating out due to my dodgy digestive system but this turned out to be a rare treat, and an oasis in a horrible town.

What a wonderful evening we had to welcome in 2020. Met with a delightful cocktail on arrival, food hot and plentiful. Not been here for a while as it had somewhat gone off. New owners, new group I believe. Staff were very attentive on such a busy day. Couldn't fault any of the staff throughout. We were only there for a snack but after we had ordered we looked around and people were leaving a reasonable amount. The reason was not quality but quantity. Even our snack was quite well stacked. We ordered a sandwich that came with fries and coleslaw. The sandwich itself was very edible if not plain looking. The fries were hot and the coleslaw was tasty. The speed of the service was inline with just how busy they were so hard to tell if it was an ordinary meal time not near Christmas. We will probably return to sample one of the main meals as our faith in the place has been restored..

To start with the positives the staff were very friendly and welcoming on arrival, pointing out facilities for the baby if needed. The dessert (cheesecake) was lovely and the main meals mostly good, although mine was a little on the cold side it was still ok.Less positive was the length of time the food took to come, although not a huge problem as we were chatting and enjoying the time but my little girl was very hungry.The biggest concern for me was when we discovered a piece of what looked like broken plastic in my daughters ice cream. On making a staff member aware we were told we would be refunded the cost of the dessert. Not really the point as it was only a couple of quid. What we really wanted was for it to be taken a bit more seriously as my 4 year old could have hurt herself eating a piece of sharp plastic. The pub was busy and staff were clearly working hard, but in my view this could have been dealt with better.We will probably return as its conveniently located for us when visiting family with small children and nothing about the food was terrible, but would like assurance that this h&s concern will be looked in to.
