It was not a very good experience , no atmosphere at all. Won't be going back.

Kaz & the staff are fab lovely good & drinks great atmosphere!

Bar maids very pleasant, even asked how I was. Atmosphere was good . Also had an app to change the duke box.

The bar staff are lovely and the place is a good laugh, the roast dinners on Sundays are amazing, Karen the manager is amazing ❤️

I had 19 drinks and then when I tried getting my 20th they said we serve drinks not drunks. So I went to wetherspoons but they wouldn't serve me there either so I went to bed.

I went to The Fox to attend the wake of my oldest friend's mother. Have been in the past, but not for quite a few years. The staff are first class, very helpful and patient as my wife wanted a fruit flavour gin they ran through the various options for me. Food was tasty and plentiful and the atmosphere was congenital.

Been driving past the fox for a while always meaning to go in , yesterday we finally went in ,how lovely it was , a proper pub , spotless inside lovely vibe full of friendly people , harry the barmen was so welcoming and chatty , felt like we had been going there for ages , definitely our new local from now on , thank you

Lovely place to go with family for food and drinks, food is amazing! Nights vary, you can go for a quiet drink, as there are 2 bars, some days they have entertainment and a bouncy castle for the kids, some nights have live entertainment on, management and bar staff very friendly would highly recommend 👌

Stopped off for a reunion with some friends and we absolutely loved the friendly atmosphere. Ordered Scouse and the Chilli which was so tasty and homemade. This is the ideal local

Amazing Lamb Roast dinner by Kaz, honestly the nicest dinner weve had in a long time, came with extra gravy and was nice and hot. Would highly recommend and we will be coming back!

So we paid this pub a visit yesterday for the 1st time in a while. It's under new management.. staff were amazing and In all honesty the place is brilliant. We ordered food for 2 adults and 3 kids. Roast was decent and home cooked. Bouncy castle for the kids outside was a nice touch. We'll worth a visit and we will be going back

Ate at the fox on Tuesday popped in for lunch food excellent and great value for money The manager was really lovely and nothing was too much trouble for her she was totally professional.

Had a homemade Scouse when I was in, absolutely delicious. Friendly team and lovely Manager. Would highly recommend

This is a lovely establishment set in a built up area of Maghull, under new management it offers a friendly atmosphere with staff that are very amenable and professional although we havnt yet dined here we believe the Sunday roast dinner is to die for, we look forward to experiencing this. It is also a dog friendly pub ,SO, get yourself along and enjoy the whole experience as we did 😍

Nice pub needs something doing to the back though, should turf it stick a kids play area in an would get more business an have little one an it's more a adults pub, lot more boozy now to people walking home rowdy late of a night

Visited The Fox pub after hearing it is under new management - lovely atmosphere and decor aswell as friendly staff and manager! The selection of Gin is an eye opener and spoilt for choice. Saw so many people ordering food which looked lovely - will be ordering at my next visit! Can’t go wrong with a pub lunch!

We have never been here before. On the entrance a women was talking on her mobile phone. We entered and went to the bar it was very empty. We thought the building looked a bit tired. The lady who served us at the bar said she was was the new landlady.

I returned to The Fox as I heard it is under new management. I had the beer battered fish and homemade chips with mushy peas it was delicious. My friend had the Sunday carvery and she said it was just like her nan would make - a homemade roast at its finest. The children’s menu with 3 courses for £4.99 was excellent value. Thanks to the lovely staff see you again soon!

Great place for drinks and food.

Very welcoming relaxed family pub, local people are so friendly. Great choice of food but also experienced chef willing to personalise to individual preference too - bar staff go extra mile - would recommend 👍

We had a table booked for 7 people 6 weeks ago for Saturday 30th November. They had all the contact details and the menu choices of all 7 guests. No one contacted the person who booked everything to say they had no chef on on Saturday evening, we only found out by chance. They did manage to get someone to cook, however, they did not have the food choices available, despite the fact that they knew 6 weeks ago and the replacements weren't wonderful. It was not quite the evening we had planned for our friends birthday.

Only had 3 vegetarian options on the menu and 2 of them weren't available! 🙄

I visited The Fox on the evening of Saturday, September 21st, 2019. I asked the bar tender, a young girl, which white wines they had, mainly because I was having a little difficulty seeing as far as the fridge due my eyesight not being all that great, and was told that they only had Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio. Disappointed, I settled for a large glass of Pinot Grigio. I took one sip of this wine and very nearly spat it out. It was clearly, without any doubt whatsoever, oxidised. It tasted absolutely disgusting.I handed it to my wine appreciating friend, who did exactly the same.. I attracted the attention of the bar tender and explained that the wine was off. Fiercely, she snapped 'there's nothing wrong with it! I've just opened it!'. She had, indeed, just opened it. That, however, does not mean that the wine could not have been faulty; this being a fact that she had obviously overlooked.. Looking absolutely disgusted, she also snapped 'well, we've only got this and the Chardonnay'! Strongly suspecting that I could see with my poor eyes a bottle or two of an acceptable Sauvignon Blanc in the fridge, which would have been my first choice anyway, I asked my friend to confirm my suspicions, which she did. 'I'll have that Sauvignon Blanc in the fridge, please', I said. She then proceeded to empty the dregs of the first bottle into my glass, then top it up with the fresh wine. Yeuch! Not being in the mind to continue my battle with this person, I just accepted the wine. It was, after all, the only one I was going to have that evening. As I took the glass, I reaffirmed politely that the Pinot Grigio was off. The girl very rudely snapped yet again that she had just opened the bottle and that there was nothing wrong with it, before simply turning her back on me and walking off! I suppose I should admire the talent of this young lady. After all, it must take an immense gift to know that the wine was perfectly fine, even though she had not tasted it. I can only stand back in amazement, too, at her flat refusal to listen to a customer who is actually trying to do the landlord a favour by pointing out that the wine was off. I presume she then went on to palm it off onto other customers.I do hope they did not have the audacity to complain about their foul tasting wine to this font of knowledge, cunningly disguised as a very young, incredibly rude, inexperienced girl behind the bar! The Fox's website claims that it is an 'upmarket pub'. Er, no, I think not!

I tried the new menu with a friend today, since they have now employed a new chef. The Fox has really taken on board the comments of customers and is a great place for food, drinks and events. It's clean, trendy, has friendly staff, shows the sporting events and has a fabulous new menu. We had fish finger sandwiches and nachos. Freshly battered cod goujons on fresh white bread, served with chunky chips, tartar sauce and salad for a fiver. The menu is very reasonably priced and has a great selection to suit everyone. They have done an outstanding job at turning this place around. Lovely.

Lovely local pub, still building itself up. Really friendly staff and a fun atmosphere when they show the football matches in the bar on the big screen. Worth a visit if you're passing. 5 mins walk from train station.

No food on Saturday but great live band The Pocket Rockets.

We visited the Fox after not being here since it changed its name from the Red house. The food and service we received was outstanding. Great atmosphere and really good value for money. Definitely come again and Thank you to the Manager for making us feel really welcome. Pub looks like it’s definitely heading in the right direction.

Very good price wise. Food OK. They often get your order wrong but they don't charge you if they make a mistake.

Price are good but if more than two of you don't expect to all eat at once.

Went for tea at the fox tonight , after some good reviews from friends in Maghull thought I’d give it a go , everything was really nice and freshly cooked , arrived hot , the new chef vinnie introduced himself , lovely man , thought it was really nice of him , will be going back , thank you ..... After reading a number of reviews about the new menu and new chef at The Fox, we decided to go for lunch. As soon as we arrived we where greeted by the manager Jordan who was very friendly and welcoming. We ordered some lunch.The food arrived quickly and was very nice and enjoyable. The chef,Vinny introduced himself and asked what we thought about his food. We told him how much we enjoyed it and would be definately be returning to have another meal. We were made to feel very welcome by both Vinny and Jordan. Thank you.

We visited the fox yesterday approx 7pm as a family of 5 ( 2 Adults and 3 kids ) after seeing a new menu on their Facebook page and thought about giving it a go. Don't bother. Service is poor, no cutlery given before meals came out and then a mad scramble for condiments when we did get our food, which was very poor indeed. The burgers are frozen, like the birds eye ones your mum used to cook when one of your mates from primary school came round for tea. Mixed grill was very poor, cold and for £9 wasn't good value. 2 small chicken peices ( approx 1/2 of a small chicken breast total ) 1/4 of a gammon steak, rump steak and 1 very small sausage, 2 mushrooms a sprinkle of peas and a few chips, which again are frozen chips. Don't know what the chef was doing in the kitchen, as the pub was filled with smoke from the kitchen, and doors had to be kept open. The food doesn't do the fox any favours at all, it seems like they buy their produce from the likes of cool traders in the morning. It's a shame as the pub has a decent pint but it's needs a lot of work on its food. I wouldn't mind so much if the place was rammed, but it isn't. So there is no excuse. This is my local pub and I'd eat here with my family more often but I won't spend money on frozen food. Sorry .

Nice quite place staff very polite but the food was awful would not revisit

Came here Friday with a friend and we got food, it was well presented and tasted homemade, proper pub food the chefs where chatting to us about the different options we could get which was nice and the bar staff where attentive and friendly, made us feel welcome and chatted to us which makes a change from some other pubs in maghull will be coming back again, nice surprise!

This has been my first visit since changing from the red house, I visited here Saturday night although was a little quiet myself and friend had a great night the girl behind the bar was lovely megan I think her name was very chatty and friendly excellent service will be coming back more often and maybe try some food next time brilliant keep up the good work

Desent Place good good food, but a bit quiet

If Carling made cannabis cafes this would be the place to go. Wade through the clouds of weed in the doorway, ignore the lads sniffing and wiping their nose as the leave the toilets, and you enter the lounge which is quite nicely decorated. Wouldn’t eat here as everywhere has a pervasive aroma of weed, ok for drinks though. Could do with getting rid of some of their toilet regulars

Amazing service and lovely personnel working here. Traveled the UK for 2 weeks and this was a lovely place for our last night out. Very personable and caring. 10/10 would recommend

I have tried to get in touch with the company (Foxy Owl) I have sent emails and had to responce from them, totally ignored. spoke to both managers who have now both left, Martin said that he gave the details of the complaint to the Area manager, He had my contact numer but hasnt bothered to get in touch.

What a fantastic meal together with a warm welcome from All the staff, after what must have been a very busy time for the Fox , nothing was too much trouble Mike and the chef catered for all our needs. Fantastic value for money. Me and 4 generations of our family really enjoyed our time big thank you .

Open and clean. Didn't eat, but seemed to be a bunch of old people eating, that's normally a good sign as they like to complain.

Myself, husband and kids popped into our local 'The Fox' for a bite to eat and a drink on Boxing Day. I cannot fault the service as both members of staff where so friendly and accommodating- even offering to warm up the milk bottles for my youngest. Food was tasty and prompt to arrive and all in all cannot fault the food or service we received, looking forward to returning in 2019, Well done!

Formally the "Red House" but I have to say much improved. Fast friendly service at the bar and much improved look to the place . I've not eaten here yet but I've heard good things from the locals. My main interest is live music and this is an excellent venue really intimate with reasonable acoustics too. Car park is ample and easily accessible as entry for wheelchair users especially at rear but front entrance poses no problems either. Toilets very clean too!

Me and my family booked Xmas dinner at the fox what a experience absolutely disgusting. First of all no Xmas table trimmings we were served dinner five minutes apart from our company not good enough we all had dinner at different times the gravy was served cold in a cup. Then there was no Xmas pudding. WHAT. So had what ever pudding was given to use. Again five maybe more minutes. We were given soup spoons with the pudding. Not good. Then we asked for our cheese board it eventually come one chessboard for eight people asked staff for more we were told the staff need to go home come back next day manager not in. Staff very rude standing in corner. We bought a bottle of wine and was charged extra for soda water. We paid a lot of money for Xmas day. My family was totally disappointed.

We visited on Christmas Day with family for drinks. What was supposed to be a great family occasion was ruined by someone called Mike who was extremely rude to one of our party. We have lived in Maghull all our life and never experienced being spoken to in such an awful manner anywhere. We will never visit this pub again and will let all our friends and family know to avoid it.l

We took family over from Canada to The Fox tonight for tea. Lovely food all main meals were only £5 including steaks. Special offer this week. All our meals were cooked well and good choice to choose from, service was very good would certainly recommend The Fox. They seem to have got over the initial teething problems they had with the service when they first opened.
