We visited the Ibberton as we often do when In Dorset. It was warm, cosy, beautifully decorated for Christmas and the food was delicious. There is even a little jewellery cabinet made by a local lady and proceeds go to charity!

A lovely country pub with good choice of food and ales . Open Thursday to Sunday . The only reason not a 5 was they had run out of many of the deserts and we didn’t go late in the day. Every time we made a choice the waiting staff said not that one. Maybe better they tell u what is finished straight away. So maybe I am being mean. Lovely spot staff great. The roses in garden had such a lovely fragrance that was lovely on a sunny evening, would certainly go again. Dog friendly. Mid price range. Used to the crown so old books would have as that.

Quiet location, nice gardens and friendly staff. The real star is the food - regularly changing menu, all freshly cooked (so expect a short wait while you relax and enjoy the surroundings). The small plate starters are tasty and fresh, main courses well presented and beautifully cooked. If it’s on the menu look no further than the monkfish scampi, but everything is good. The side salads are a joy, fresh and well dressed without being overpowering, and the homemade tartare sauce the best I’ve tasted.

Yesterday we received a very warm and friendly welcome for our Sunday lunch. Whilst the adults thoroughly enjoyed the sumptuous roast beef, trimmings and lovely vegetables, the younger members of our family were delighted with the range of burgers and fish and chips. The food was beautifully served on hot plates and very generous in portion size. The ‘mushroom’ shaped Yorkshire puddings were a culinary triumph. Delicious puddings rounded off an excellent meal and we would highly recommend this pub/restaurant to anyone looking for a traditional Dorset delight for food and drink.

Was recommended this by our Airbnb provider and what a place. Visited in mid-October and was fortunate to arrive in glorious sunshine, so we have tea and coffee in the garden to start with. After enjoying the sunshine we went in to the pub as we had booked a table (always recommended to do so, especially on a Sunday). Firstly this a historic pub building, over 500 years old, with a huge open fireplace that had a log burner. We were shown to our table and the offered drinks and menus immediately. We decided to take time to order our food, which the staff were ok with, no rushing us to order. When we did order, we both went for a traditional beef roast. Firstly it was served within a reasonable period of time and the portions were amazing. The plate was served up with the beef, potatoes and Yorkshire pudding, then side dishes of cauliflower cheese, carrots, and cabbage with bacon. It was extremely tasty and filling. One of the best Sunday roast ever! When we finished, we were unable to fit in a dessert immediate, so they kindly agreed to do us an Dorset apple cake and sticky toffee pudding to go. It was delicious. So great food but on top of that, the service was great and it was good value for money. Definitely will go back if in the area.

We'd not been here for several years for reasons which require no further explanations. This is an authentic, rustic in and offered a friendly, personal welcome. Its also popular with walkers and rider and has traditional flagstone floors and a cosey wood-burner. Interesting menu with a blackboard with the wines being offered - all prices very reasonable. We all thought the starters were excellent - freshly made soup, scallop dish and king prawn dish as well as some nicely present fresh oysters. The roast meal were very good with a home cooked feel and generous vegetable portions, including a broccoli and cauliflower with white sauce which had clearly been freshly made and oven-baked. A decent choice of pudding, again all evidently home-prepared not bought-in, and very nicely presented. So while not holding itself out as a "gastro-pub" its best parts were effortlessly hitting this level as a more reasonable price point. Friendly, unrushed service and chocolate mints came with the bill (always a pleasing sight!). We'll definitely be returning, and soon!

The views from the ridgeway above the pub are fantastic! We stopped for lunch and sat out in the lovely garden at the back of the pub. Were visiting friends in this area and thought would have Saturday drink and food at this quaint village pub. We arrived to a busy carpark at 1.50pm and headed to the bar. My husband ordered 2 alcoholic drinks and asked for the food menu only to be told they finished serving food at 2pm. It was in fact only 1.55pm on the pub clock and was not 2pm on our watches either. It was such a shame as it left a very bad taste and when our friends who live here say that pubs in this area find it hard to survive we know why! This pub needs to up its game. We then drove to a lovely pub in Child Okeford where we were greeted with a smile and a nice welcome from the barmaid. Very good food and very welcoming so next time will head straight here and avoid The Ibberton at all costs.

This is what a country pub should be. The welcome is warm and friendly and the food freshly cooked, simple yet tasty. If the monkfish scampi is on look no further for a real treat, otherwise the sausages on bubble and squeak (a treat in itself) or the burger will hit the spot. Visited The Ibberton on the 28th of December 2018. I enjoyed the Seafood Stew (Prawns, Crab, etc.) which was wonderfully fishy and filling and a pint of Dorset Gold (Palmer's, 4.5%) which was in superb condition. My mother, had the Country Chicken which she thoroughly enjoyed for its juiciness and flavour. Both portions of food delivered were substantial. Going hungry was not an option. Cost was middling with a bill for the two meals (mine being about £14 and hers being about £13) with two drinks came to roughly £33. For the size and quality of the meals, plus the very warm, welcoming environment (which well blends the age of the establishment, complete with large fireplace complete with bread oven with newer modern colours, furnishings and decorations), the friendliness of the attending Bar Lady (a special thank you to her!) and good, open conversation with the other customers, I can heartily and forthrightly rate this experience "Excellent" and will gladly make another excursion out this way again. I strongly recommend you do the same. A slow jaunt up to St. Eustace's Church afterwards is perfect to walk off the meal.

We had the Mushroom + blue cheese starter which was delicious and the mushroom was meaty and succulent. My husband had Rib Eye Steak with hand cut chunky chips and I had Country Chicken with a cider + celery sauce. I have to compliment the chef as I do think it was the most delicious tasting chicken I have ever had and I am extremely fussy. The vegetables were fresh cooked well and my only observation was I would rather have had new potatoes than chips. My husband then had a very well stocked cheese board with Dorset Blue Vinny and several other cheeses and I had Pecan Pie and cream. Yes the prices were slightly higher but the food was class fresh and the chef knew what he was doing

My family have visited this pub often over the last 40 years in the various hands it has been in, and althought the place looks fresher and feels more open than it had previously, my strong feeling is that it is now a very overpriced local pub. The food we ordered was good, but paying £14 for a hambuger in a rural pub is crazy. I chose monkfish and chips - £19 for 5 small battered pieces and a handful of chips and a small salad garnish is not acceptable. The other critisism I have is that they do not offer any kind of a childrens menu and could only offer us smaller roast dinners on the day we went. I asked if we could have a smaller hamburger or a smaller kids size portion of fish and chips but they could not offer either they said or they'd be out of pocket. So we paid £14 for a burger that was way too big for my 8 year old and half the burger was left untouched. when we paid we politely told them that we were suprised that they could not accomodate children more readily and we were told firmly that they were not the sort of place that would cook chicken nuggets or fishfingers!! - Sadly we will not hurry back if they keep their prices this high and are this inflexible, shame as we would like to support it and recommend to others.

This once drab country pub has been transformed into an excellent venue for really good value for money food and an excellent selection of 'real ales' as they're known to many people.( I still prefer to call it beer because that is what it is). Virtually all of the improvements here have been carried out by the young couple who are the new owners and a first class job they have made of it too. They can be very proud of themselves. The Ibberton, as it is now called is certainly well worth more than just a visit!!

New owners, 7 weeks in to their new venture, have a sensibly sized menu, some fixed, others specials. The quality of ingredients was exceptional for pub food, and sauces, dressings and seasoning were all faultless. Generous helpings mean good value. There is a good offering of real beers and well-priced wines. It may be e bit 'remote' but it really is worth finding this place. If you enjoy it, pass it on. The Ibberton deserves to succeed.

Worth the Visit. Walking on the Wessex Ridgeway, it is worth a detour. Last visited under a different name, it is hard to think of The Crown. We just had a quick ploughman's, one between two. Plenty of fresh produce, friendly service and surroundings. We looked at the lunch and dinner menu, we shall be back soon.

After being closed for some 2 years what was The Crown has new owners and has been thoughtfully reimagined as The Ibberton and is open for business! They have done a wonderful job on the interiors, making it much lighter and brighter, they have bought in a great selection of wines, local ales, cider, etc and are very friendly and welcoming.

Family run pub. Lovley relaxed atmosphere. Lovley smiley happy staff. You have two menus. One is the good old pub classics.....with a bit of a twist ... Which is really clever. A printed menus which is changed every day.

We found this place through a recommendation whilst on holiday in the area. We had a lovely family meal here and sat in the small garden.

We managed to visit this recently re-opened establishment on Friday 5th August. It was formerly known as the Crown. It was not easy to find a phone number, but fortunately the helpful Penny at the Victorian Barn managed to dig out the number. Made a booking and off we went.

This pub/restaurant only opened at the end of July, after having been closed for some time. Now under new ownership, I can only say that the owners certainly seem to know what they are doing.
