Would highly recommend people to stay away from this place, Went here today ( Sunday ) Upon arrival was faced with a notice saying that they we’re closed and would only be open for breakfast only until further notice “Due to shortage of staff” which was rather disappointing as it was my mums birthday and it didn’t get any better as we then went to another Brewers Fayre The old brickworks at Drighlington to find a similar outcome with another notice saying “Due to staff shortages we are closing at 4pm with last food orders at 3pm!! Which was an awful experience and £25 down in taxi fares we then gave up all hope and we took our business elsewhere. We then ended up at Toby Carvery which was Absolutely fantastic, the best roast I’ve ever had and all of the staff were lovely, Warm welcoming on arrival. Nice to know where Brewers Fayre’s customer satisfaction/loyalty lies or is at…. Could have at least had the decency to advertise that they would be closed.

I would put ratings for food, service and atmosphere but we didn't even manage to get into the restaurant due to them ringing once at 8am in the morning, on the booking, to deliver the news that they will "only be serving breakfasts" and our dinner reservation will not be honoured. Also, the passive aggressive lady on the phone tried to argue with my mother over the matter.

Had lunch on Easter Sunday, we had the option of eating off the menu or carvery. Which was pleasing, there is also a good kids menu with healthy options as well as the usual kids foods. Service was quick & friendly, without being intrusive. I had the rump steak, rare, with chips & peas. Steak was lovely, cooked well & seasoned. My mum had scampi, with chips & mushy peas. The scampi was generous & looked plump & juicy! Cost was reasonable at £25. Well worth a visit if your passing through or live locally

A lovely greeting by Nic who like Kayleigh & Jen was extremely helpful & welcoming with great service too. The menu was varied with a good choice with value for money too plus delicious, hot tasty food & very enjoyable as well. Very much worth a visit so check out the weekly offers not only on the food but the drinks as well. Keep being amazing & doing the magic 👏👏🙏

Can’t fault the staff or location. Very friendly, with a lovely and quiet atmosphere. Extremely clean. Portion sizes of the food is where it’s a major let down. 3 burgers, 3 sides and drinks £52 (£70 odd without Blue Light) and we went to McDonald’s after to fill our stomachs. Burgers were around size of the palm and I think there were about 14 fries on the plate. (£12.99 each I believe they were). Garlic Bread w cheese was around £4-4.50 and I got 2 garlic slices which you can buy a full one from the supermarket for around £1-£1.50. Flaming Grill’s put the food to shame. Will not return to another Brewer’s Fayre, I feel robbed.

I was taken here by my daughter, son-in-law and 3 grandchildren for a mother's day meal. On arrival we were taken to our table by a very pleasant man, 3 of us opted for the carvery what a big mistake. The Turkey was dry with a green colour running through it, I mentioned this to the lady serving the meat, who informed me it was just a vein 🤦‍♀️ always thought veins were red. So I give it a miss and had gammon, walking on to the rest of the veg and potatoes. Oh dear chef how you think its alright to put black roast potatoes and hard/dry vegetables out is beyond me, the gravy was like coloured water. I was definitely not going to eat that so went for gammon off the main menu which was offered by the nice chap who sat us down. The only thing good about my mothers day was being with family. Hunsworth you have let us down and will not be returning

Ordered a big stack burger with family today, waited over 40 mins when pub restaurant was quiet. Food came out cold, not good really considering price paid. Yes, I could tell the quality of food was better than most other pubs, but don't expect it to be cold. McDonald's would have been hotter and that's saying something. Sadly had to eat it. As I didn't want to wait another 40 mins for another. Disappointed. Probably won't come back.

Good place to eat. Highly recommend. The staff are very kind and considerate and helpful. I have never been to a place where the customer were respected as well as they are at The Hunsworth. Kurt, Adam and Johnathan are the most helpful of the staff - nothing is too much for them. But having said that all the other staff are most helpful and kind. The food is good and the service terrific.

No seats available as fully booked between 6pm.amd 8pm, barely anyone inside. Spoke to the lady, she was kind enough to find a table even though they were fully booked (empty), waited 40minutes and walked out. Didn't even get to order in that time frame. The following day I came in for breakfast as my hotel had the upgraded option. No waitress for hot orders like in other Brewers Fayre's which comes part of the £9.99 package. Instead you have a buffet only, when the buffet would also be included with the hot orders. As for the buffet, usually this is full of different cereals, fruit and your usual full English items, however in this brewers there was no eggs, no hot order and the buffet selection was 1 cereal. I don't think this brewers fayre really cares for such bad performance and quality as there's no where else in the area to go which is why this poor performance continues.

Booked here for the all you can eat breakfast which is a good price as the kids eat free however they decided to finish breakfast as we sat down despite us paying for it up front. A lot of the food had gone and they weren't going to replenish it had we not asked. I wanted to go back for a little more but by this time all the food had been removed so it wasn't quite as unlimited as it seemed. The food itself wasn't fantastic and although it was cooked through, I felt like it needed a few more minutes cooking for my liking. The quality of the food is what you'd expect from a place like this, so so. The staff were pleasant. I wouldn't go back unfortunately.

Had to go to the bar because the coffee machine was not working. No floor staff. Staff members too busy on their phone instead of helping customers. The worst establishment I have ever dined at. Just had Christmas dinner here and the majority of the staff are brilliant but the person that serves the carvery is very ignorant and inconsiderate. Whilst waiting to be served at the carvery the lady serving was in conversation with a lady at the other side of the food counter and completely ignored what she was supposed to be doing, not once but twice, and it's not the first time this has happened. If she doesn't like working with the public maybe she needs a change of career.

I have never seen such a bad load of reviews, mostly saying having to wait for over an hour for service. We went ( group of 7 ) yesterday evg and the wait was 70 mins from the time of ordering. Food was poor quality and several dishes not available. Apparently the problem in the kitchen is two chefs who " don't get on " I gave the manager two options, either he refunds some of the bill or offers free sweets/puddings, we went for the latter. I suggest Brewers Fayre close this place until they can get it properly staffed and stocked. Visited again on 27/11, having previusly been assured that the place had been put under better management. However upon arriving customers were being told there was a 1 hour wait for food and a lot of dishes were not available ie no steak, no fish etc. We cancelled the booking and went to the Brewers Fayre in Halifax.. I can only assume the Regional Manager for The Hunsworth is not doing his/her job properly. As said on previous post, suggest Whitbread shut the place until they can get a grip with running the place in a professional manner.

I was with a group of 20 , service was a disaster food took ages to arrive and my wife got the wrong pie . Waiter came back and told usthat the pie she orded was not avaiable so she chose another meal only to be told that it also was not available. We were on a two for one offer but he told her to order anithing on the menu at same price . She finaly got nice haddock and chips . Meanwhile the rest of the party were still waitng for there meals the final meal arived 45min after us . NOW THE MITIGATING FACTORS. The chef had to leave on urgent family business and the maniger had to step in ,not a chef. And barman played waiter. SO CONSIDERING THAT THEY COULD HAVE JUST CLOSED THE KITCHEN WE FORGAVE THEM FOR THE DELAY AND FOOD WAS OK .

Beware this pub and it's carparking it's is cctv and you have to put your registration number into a tablet at the entrance I did so and it showed my car details and I had 3 hours parking. Today I had a £100 fine reduced to £60 if paid with in 28 days posted they allegedly posted on the 10th I received it on the 24th the notice stated it had to be paid by the 27th I contacted the Hunsworth and said it's nothing to do with them it's a private company.

First time here probably be the last. Starter was garlic and herb mushrooms £5 only got 6 pieces and they were small. Main course was OK steak was cool but cooked to my liking veg was average. I'm getting to think brewers fayres are just there to satisfy premier inn customers convenience as they don't seem to attract many other people . Given them a chance by visiting a few but I'm giving them a wide berth from now on.

Food was warm at best, asked for steak well done and after a dire 75 minute wait it was medium. Didn’t have the patience to send it back in case it was another 30 mins to rectify. No BBQ dipping sauce even though it’s meant to accompany and it was somehow even possible to mess up an egg 🤦‍♂️ To top it off like a cherry on a cake starters arrived 15 minutes after my main.

Had chicken dinner, didn't come with cabbage, though menu stated it did. No apology nor mention of the missing cabbage. The chicken was absolutely awful, menu stated roast chicken.bl The chicken had been chargrilled and just tasted so bitter, it was also quite tough. The carrots were hard, but edible, the stuffing and roast potatoes were quite nice. When the waitress asked if the food was okay, I was honest about the chicken and missing cabbage. I was offered more chicken but I said I didn't want it if it was the same as the one I had. The waitress said she'd speak to the manager. I did get a fries egg from my partner's plate, as we had requested it to be hard, but it was still too runny for her. The manager didn't bother to come over, hence my honest review. I didn't bother to approach the manager, as I also couldn't be bothered. I'm out for a meal for convenience, not to argue over chicken and cabbage. Manager and waitress seemed pleasant enough, but meal wasn't worth the fee, especially as I had no chicken or cabbage. I was travelling, so hadn't been to this one before, but I'm quite regularly at the branch near where we live. If ours was like this, I wouldn't bother coming.

How do I even start!! A completely horrible experience. The wait was horrendous and when the food did arrive the waitress dropped a meal (which I completely understand and not why I'm upset) she hands me my "rare" steak which was completely charred and medium at best. I asked if I could have my steak re done as she took the other meal back. The "chef" then comes out WITH the dropped meal and my steak saying "you want it blue thats a perfect rare" and being completely rude infront of a whole restaurant of people. "I'm going to have to redo the whole meal and gunna be another long wait for you mate" was another thing she said. I am completely appalled and having to eat a takeaway in my hotel room! FOH staff were happy enough to help. Unhappy.

2 out of our 4 meals were incorrect and incomplete. We waited an hour for our food at a quiet time. A guy who was there well before us and had ordered before we got there was still waiting for his meal when we left 2 hours later, even though several other groups had been served their meals (all ordered while we was there) At least 5 other groups meals were served incorrectly, with bits missing or completely incorrect. One customer complained to the waitress only to be shouted at and verbally abused by the manager of the bar. All in all the service was discussing, the staff need to be re- trained, the atmosphere was horrendous as everyone was complaining and the manager needs sacking. But the food we did have was hot... eventually! I will be emailing the company head office with a complaint.

Disappointing visit this evening on the way home from Rotherham for the football. Usually go to the Water Mill at Halifax because it is difficult to book a table here, but managed to book for 6.15. Ordered according to our receipt at 6.16. No Doom Bar on pump, no Pepsi Max on the bottomless drinks, not to worry, got a Tetleys Smooth and told to just return to the bar for top-up Pepsi. Went back for a top-up of Pepsi - as expected people queuing for food and drink orders, so took a Fanta instead from the self-service. Meanwhile, we waited and we waited and we waited. At 6.55 returned to the bar to see if there was a problem in the kitchen and when might our food order come? Told us it was busy. Yes, it was, Saturday night, but no-one seemed to have received any food since we arrived. No waiters seemed to be rushing to and from the kitchen. At 7, a waitress was sent to apologise and offer free drinks and said it would be another 15 minutes, so of course the kids set their timers on their phones. Free beer not much use when you've got to drive afterwards, kids drink water. At 7.20 food finally arrived. Son had said he would have a Smothered platter until he realised what was on it and listed out loud the things he didn't like and so chose a smothered chicken burger instead. He needn't have bothered worrying about the platter, which was lacking the pineapple on the gammon, onion rings, coleslaw and barbecue dip. Daughter and I realised one had two pieces of gammon, the other had the chicken so we swapped. Both of us tried to cut the "well done" steak with the barely sharp knife, to discover it was medium rare when we finally cut a piece. The peas which could have been cooking for an hour and five minutes were barely cooked and hard. Anyway we won't be coming back.

On entering the place it was obvious that no one cares. When we were shown to our table the carpet was covered in food from the previous night or nights. The manager who was a stand in looked as if he had slept in his clothes. We ordered 2 chicken and mushroom pies and one carvery. It took ages for the pies to arrive and the carvery wasn't ready as some one hadn't shown up for work. The pies were nothing special and the pastry was burnt. I went up to the carvery and had to wait while the lady behind the counter talked to her friend which she continued to do while serving me. I have never seen anyone carve a turkey with a serving spoon but she did. It was so over cooked she couldn't cut it but scrapped it with a spoon. Everything was over cooked. When I went to the toilet I even heard her say to one customer you don't mind having the dry bits do you! The toilets had not been cleaned the place was dirty and uncared for. We are visiting from Australia and had stayed at the Premier Inn 6 years ago and eaten at Brewer's fare which was good then. All I can say now is do not go there. It would be better if they closed altogether.

Just got home from the hunsworth.Not been for awhile as it's been going down hill.Thought I'd give them another chance . We met friends there. So four of us . Had to wait ages . The pub wasn't very clean. When all four meals came all overcooked and dry . I sent my club Sandwich back .was in crusts and was full of slop!! . Very sad used to love this pub .None of us will be returning .

On the 9th or 10th of May 2023 we ordered a family vegan breakfast. It was a very well presented vegan breakfast and we received great customer service from our waitress Diane. Diane is a brilliant representative of Brewers Fayre. Very attentive to customers’ needs whether it’s checking if any of us have allergies or keeping us updated with an issue with our vegan order. Diane also checked to see if we were happy with our food. Customer service experiences can make or break a holiday. Due to the high level of service we received, we will be staying in the nearby hotel (Premier Inn) on our next visit.

I ordered the trio of pies in which I didn't want the steak and ale which I wasn't offered an alternative and when I received my meal the pies was so hard I couldn't cut them and for 13.29 I thought it was a disgrace. I won't be coming here again I'm afraid,when I showed the staff member her reply was omg I will tell the chef

On Friday 13 July I had occasion to visit for dinner. Chicken dinner on the menu was not available, had to make do with Scampi. There were no draught beers at all available, had to make do with coffee. I find the general service is dismal ever since you have replaced the two girls who used to run things with your clients. Because of this I have been using Spoons for about six months.Thought I would try you again and found that things are gettiong worse. When shall I try you again? Say 6 months?

Food was OK.. daughter had carvery and at 5pm alot of the food had been sat there a while and was rather dry.. staff really helpful and friendly explained how to order, plenty of parking and it was rather quiet to say it was tea time on a Sunday.. will try again at diff time to see if any better.

We stayed at the premier inn as guess and paid for breakfast in room 28 over the weekend of the 14th to the 17th of July for a family wedding,but the first night we went there the staff didn’t seam to know what they where doing as we where ordering drinks a staff member went away halfway through serving us a then came back and said he forgot. At breakfast the first morning nothing was on the hot plate and had to wait forever for it to be replenished it was absolutely disgraceful.

Highly recommend! First time here and the food was way better than any other carvery! More to choose from and fresh produce. Staff were polite especially Kurt who was really helpful and pleasant he helped with the car reg parking system and showed us to our table. Service was impeccable. Will defo be back thanks

Keep away from this place the food was heated up slop. I had to send my curry back twice because they hadn't made sure it was hot. There was a bit if plastic bag in the rice. Obviously a boil in the bag effort. Very disappointing.

I have been going here for years but since all the nice good staff have left it's gone down hill. The lady on carvery on Sunday had an attitude problem but this isn't the first time I have experienced this from her. I understand that they are short staffed but there is no need for the attitude. Wouldn't recommend going these days as all staff that are there are not very welcoming. Only thing that was good was the food.

Would absolutely give 10 stars if we could the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. They met all our needs and more they went above and beyond after fitting us in at last minute due to being let down by somewhere else and as a family of 9 at gone 8pm with 2 fussy kids and a baby they were an AMAZING. We will definitely be back soon. Kim and Kurt were great and couldn’t have done any more for us, they were so friendly and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

Dreadful, slow service, over-charged for food and the manager refused to refund the overcharge after promising to do so. Have visited previously and had decent experiences, but most recently visited on Sunday at 1pm and although the carvery was "off" due to supply issues we were happy to order from the menu. We were advised there was a 30 - 40 minute wait for food, which was fine - we ordered 4 meals including a smothered double no-chicken as it sounded amazing so was happy to pay the additional to double-up. The drinks arrived and we waited, and waited, and waited for the food. The staff appeared to be rushed - the Dr Pepper had run out and I heard several customers ask if it would be refilled but they were told the same as I was "if we have any more it will be back on in a minute". It was not. Half an hour after placing our order, a staff member came to us and said they had no veggie chicken so would I like something else, it was disappointing that we weren't told at time of order, and that it had taken 30 minutes before anyone noticed. I changed my order to a filled yorkie with vegan sausage. Over an hour after we placed our order, the table next to us received their food and the staff member said to us "Yours is just coming out now". It was over 30 minutes later when the food arrived and by that point we were actually planning on just leaving. As the meal that I received was several pounds cheaper than the one I originally ordered and paid for, I enquired if I'd be getting a refund of the difference, and the employee said "of course, you'll receive the difference in price" - when I asked "who do I need to speak to about it" he said he would handle it. The food itself was below average - whilst my father enjoyed his chicken and mushroom pie, the two veggie filled yorkies we had were unappetising - overcooked, rubbery "sausages" and claggy cheap smash - my mother had ordered a normal meat filled yorkie and left over half of hers. As we were leaving my partner queued up at the till to complain about the slow service and poor food and enquire about a refund. She was eventually able to speak to the manager who initially agreed to a partial refund "for the food you've left" (no reference to the appalling service or to the refund for the overcharged meal). When she pointed this out and said our review would reflect our negative experience, the manager refused to refund any money (including the meal he had overcharged us for) and was absurdly confrontational and obnoxious. He said "well if you are going to contact head office then I won't give you any refund at all" - when she said she hadn't actually said she was going to contact head office, he was belligerent. As he was not going to give us the refund owed to us for the overcharged meal, she asked for his name and head office details and he refused to give his name, simply writing it down as "manager". We waited too long for poor food and were over-charged and then refused the money owing for this - all in all, a dreadful experience all round. We will not be visiting again, and I advise you to go to a Greene King or similar instead.

The food has changed from traditional food your gammon and chips,fish and chips etc to trying to compare with bao buns at the Riverhead,sorry no contest. The pub smells of wet dogs particularly around the fire and the sofas and been bitten there. Not in a rush to go back .

We arrived without a booking and after a couple of minutes we were shown to our table and handed menus. Unfortunately after that, we were left around 15-20 minutes and nobody came to take our order. Eventually we got drinks thank goodness but then the food must have been another half an hour before it arrived. My husband and I ordered turkish eggs and it was nice but all 4 eggs (my husband's and mind) were all over cooked. I wouldnt go if you are in a rush to be honest, it took almost an hour and a half from start to finish.

Popped into town for a few bits fancied coffee and came across this hidden gem. The old Virgin music store is now a lovely bistro / cafe sharing the space with the post office at the back. Brilliant idea. There is something for everyone on the menu - mowe had continental croissant and desi omelettes....just beautiful. Definitely worth a visit even if its just for a coffee - lovely space to relax in. Will come back.
