We’ve just been to the supper club, which is a film with food associated with the film. It was absolutely brilliant, can’t recommend it enough!! The room is cosy with comfy sofas. Staff were so friendly and enthusiastic! The film is kept a secret until you get there which added to the excitement! It turned out to be Alice in wonderland. Included was an afternoon tea and two cocktails each, absolutely amazing experience!!

We had an excellent Team day at The Hub in the Box screening cinema room. This is in no small part to the professionalism, courtesy, service, venue and catering being second to none. When running events, one of the biggest headaches can be the venue and catering, and having this run so effortlessly (you’re all probably the proverbial swans!), cuts away so much headspace that I don’t need to think about. We will be back for future team days!

Totally average!! Halloumi salad served as a whole thick block of halloumi so rubbery and not cooked throughout - should have been in nicely griddled slices, twice cooked chips anaemic and needed colour and cobb salad just ok. Like a previous review, asked if we could sit at a brighter table, was told it was booked and it then remained empty for the duration. So many better options for lunchtime restaurants available! Disappointing and need to up their game imo!

A birthday lunch for Dad and family, table for 10 located back to back ( literally chairs touching) with another family gathering by the door leading out to the courtyard where a bbq was in full swing. As the way through to the loos for customers outside was through the door I suggested to the supervisor we move over to a table set for 6 next to a table for 4 ( I was going to offer to help push the tables together) but no can do as the table for 6 was booked. I should have asked what time it was booked for as it sat unoccupied for the time we were there. Drinks orders taken and we were left to study menus, not sure why they advertise 'Sunday roasts' as the only roast on offer is a chicken breast. Drinks arrive and we then discover that half the menus we had been given were only available Monday to Saturday. One son asks if he can order from the bbq menu, computer says no but we do reach a compromise as kitchen give the ok for him to have the chicken burger from the Monday to Saturday menu. Other family table appears to have connections as a variety of food is brought in from the bbq My roast chicken was advertised as coming with garlic aoli, I got carrots instead, highlight was the roast potatoes. Two had what was advertised as pulled lamb shank in spices with couscous with roasted tomatoes. To me it looked like the meat from one lamb shank shared between 2 plates, the 'roast tomatoes ' tasted suspiciously like tinned, chopped tomatoes with no seasoning. The sides... when you order a side you sort of expect a bit of work has gone into it, the glazed carrots with herbs were boiled carrots with a sprinkle of green, the broccoli with smoked salt sort of lacked salt of any type. It's not as if they're short of staff, I could see 4 chefs, plenty of bar staff but we and the table next to us had one hard working team member who took orders and brought everything from bar and kitchen to the table. She very kindly brought out the birthday cake my children had organised. This was meant to be a treat that my 3 children were paying for but I just slipped away and settled up, and yes though I could ( as the menu states) request the optional 12.5% service to be removed, but I'd lost interest by then Best of luck for the future, I'd certainly recommend as a place to visit for a game but they need to invest in some herbs, spices and chefs who taste food occasionally.

We were the wedding DJs here last night for Scott & Ali and had a brilliant time. All the staff were friendly and super helpful and everything ran smoothly. The party in the evening was great! If you are getting married in St Albans and are looking for a great spot for food and a party, you definitely need to check out this place!

Lovely spot for a bit of brunch. Service and ambience was just what we wanted. St Albans has been needing something a bit different and pleased this has come along

Went for a Sunday lunch at The Hub, probably one of the best Sunday roasts in St Albans! The chef, Miles, went above and beyond making small changes to the order and accommodating my young son. Definitely would go back again and would highly recommend to everyone, very lovely and helpful staff!

Wow! Possibly the best brekkie in England in a divine setting. A real gem! I had the Smashed Avocado with poached eggs and a Nduja sausage on the side. A taste sensation. Sorry there’s no photo, I just looked at it and ate it!

Had been here before for dinner and the service was slow but we still had a pleasant experience so returned a few months later again with friends. Waited an hour for our main course. They bought two burgers out to the table, which they left for a couple of minutes (my friend had starting eating a chip) and then they said sorry this isnt for your table, picked them up and put them straight on another table even though we had touched them!!! Disgusting!!! We told the what we thought was the manager who didnt even apologise or do anything about it. She just said she didnt see it so cant comment. My friend is also gluten free and double checked multiple times that it was as she had doubts when it came. Unfortunately it wasnt gluten free and she was up all night being sick. All in all a terrible experience and we wont be going back.

I agree with others that this place has some teething problems but the Saturday afternoon barman was spot on. He totally knew his stuff making it a pleasure to spend an adult hour drinking red wine on a cold afternoon.

Absolutely SHOCKING. The only reason I’m giving one star is down to the hostesses who greeted us, everything else in this place needs working on! We had booked a table for brunch at 11:45 although running late we called to inform the venue. Fine with that they said there is no issues but they needed the table back at 1:30 which worked for me and my wife. Arriving at 11:55 and placing the order at 12:02 the waitress who clearly was not in the best of moods and having a bad day, rolled her eyes when we ask would it be possible to eat from the brunch menu rather then the set lunch menu. Thinking only being 2 minutes late and calling in advise this would be not an issue, however clearly not as the kitchen said no. Having already gotten relaxed in our seat we decided to just have coffee and make the most of our booking. Although I found it weird that the venue turned down a food cover considering no one else was sitting in the restaurant or arriving until we left at 12:50 so around £35-£45 lost? Although we were provide some entertainment while reading our papers and coffee as the management decided to have a meeting with our waitress next to our table advising her that she was unable to take her allocated holiday during December and that she would need to do so in January. There was various negotiations on what could be done right in front of us where I feel it might have been best to do this off the floor or in the managers office. I can see why she was in a bad mood now! With one coffee down and no one asking if we wanted anything else me and my wife decided to go to Brad and Dills for our food. In conclusion, a note to the owner. I think your staff need to go on a training course for their customer service as it seems this has definitely not happened. Secondly you management might consider being more managerial and taking personal discussions off the floor and do this in a more private area. Regrettably this is my first time to the Hub and I can say will be the last and only time I will be going there.

I will start by saying that the venue is really nicely designed and has a great outdoor area. The food options were limited and also overpriced. £13 for a handful of chips with some ragu. They were really lovely chips but not worth that. It could do with maybe some nice bruschettas or something a bit more filling for lunch. The sweet heart cabbage was lovely but not very filling. They also forgot our food order. They did kindly give us free drinks to say sorry. Also the servers were really friendly and it had a nice vibe. I will be back for drinks.

Wonderful atmosphere of sophistication as we walked in through the yard with a fair few people enjoying an after work Friday drink. The smiling staff greeted us for our meal which was delicious I had the whole Cornish plaice from the specials menu. The creatively curated cocktails were fantastic and the decor and background music were relaxing. Definitely recommend and will absolutely be back again soon.

Absolutely awful service. Too many cooks cooks come to mind. 8 young people behind the bar, yet no one wanted to serve us. Weren’t paying attention either as served two other people before us despite us waiting a long time. All we wanted was a drink and couldn’t even get one … seemed to be no management or direction or authority in this place. Drinks bought out with no bill just a card machine, unsure what we were charged for but £20 for a small beer and wine is so overpriced. Shame as we’ve been here a few times before and loved it but sadly don’t think we will be back again.

Disappointing....met with a glum faced barman who appeared to be totally dis-interested in our drinks order. Charged £4.30 service gratuity to deliver the drinks all of 3 metres. First and last visit.

A group of us had a birthday meal here and were impressed with the decor, service and food. I had the duck salad starter which was divine, followed by the sea trout. My friends had the terrine, followed by tuna which was tasty but not quite as good as my meal. We were served by Billy, who was very helpful and knowledgeable. We will be back!

Went there for brunch, but ended up ordering their house fry up breakfast. Drinks were Bloody Mary, some wine, orange juice, and some coffee and champagne outside in the garden, later on. Food was spot on. Great customer care and service. Will definitely go back.

We went with friends on Saturday night, we expected healthy well prepared food and professional service. We felt sadly let down and ripped off. The food was dry and tasteless, small portions and very very expensive [plus they automatically add a large tip to the bill]. The drinks were especially expensive and the bar area uninspired. The staff were polite but not particularly engaged and just followed their basic training. The menu is unimaginative and just covers a minimal selection you find in any chain restaurant. With so much competition locally they need to employ a manager with experience who can guide them to make this a healthy vibrant alternative to the usual offerings. I recommend you avoid until then!!

Wanted to join a pub quizz spontaneously tonight with my partner and it was quite tough to find a quiz around the area on a tuesday night. When calling this pub to check if they had one on, the person on the phone (sorry not sure who I spoke to) delivered a great customer service, was friendly and professional. When coming to the pub, we received a warm welcome by Sarah and she delivered an excellent service from the beginning. So did Ruby and the Italian lady. So thanks to you three! Joined the pub quizz hosted by Pete which was fab and will join again soon. The crowd had a nice vibe. The pub is cute, cosy and typically english looking which I love. The toilets were cleaned too👌🏻. We ordered food which was ok. Happy to discuss feedback directly with the team if they wish. Anyway, thank you all and we will be back!

Girls who walk lunch gathering - Tudors restaurant was recommended and booked on as a Groupon Steak and Prosecco deal. Not being a steak eater, this was swapped out for Fish and chips and was no problem for our accommodating waiting staff. Starter (Not part of the deal) was Shrimps with garlic butter and bread. Whilst this was quite enjoyable - the Grease from the garlic butter was excessive and not conducive for a pre-diabetic diet. The mains - Fish and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce. Was plentiful and chips nice and fluffy. The fish was not In my opinion fresh and the batter was over done. The mushy peas was dry and bland and I did not eat it or the Tartare sauce. Dessert (Not part of the deal) was Vanilla Ice cream and a welcomed treat on such a hot day/weather. All in all I was disappointed with the food and felt it was "Just okay". Will I visit again? The jury is out. Thanks for the friendly service though.
