Had a beautiful Sunday lunch, roast beef and all the trimmings. Good service and a reasonable price 👍 highly recommend.

Lovely friendly landlord and staff good food. A great place to go.

Have eaten there twice since the new landlord took over. The food was pretty average for the price and the portion sizes on the smaller size. Toasted Ciabatta (not toasted and the cheese not melted) also had the Lasagne and it came with a small accompaniment of mixed frozen veg. The beer is good but the food is pretty basic for the price.

Saw last week that Christmas menu had launched and we decided to give it a try. When we got there we were told that if you want Xmas menu, you need to let them know in advance. Went with normal lunch. Food ok, chips are oven chips, cheese was a processed cheese slice on my sandwich and the place was freezing. There’s a log burner but it had not been lit. Overall very disappointing. Shame as not too far so could’ve been a regular place to visit but I’m not sure I will be back. I suggest they get the fire roaring to make the place inviting, clarity on Christmas menu that it HAS to be pre-ordered, maybe some low level music to create an atmosphere.

Had a lovely fish & chips lunch today. Beautifully presented and great value for money. As locals we would definitely recommend this pub to visitors. The staff are friendly and it is close to the Middlewood Way and beautiful canal walks.

First time I have had the food in the Horseshoe since it has changed hands but it won't be the last. Food was great and well priced. Good service and nice staff.

First time in for a while, new management team so things look on the up, enjoyed the beer,and service at the bar was fine. We will be back for another look in the next few days, not tried the food yet but definitely will. 👌

Just what this pub needed. Mike and his team are a fresh of breath air to the place. Great atmosphere play your own music juke box. The wife had the Sunday roast which she said was one of the best she has had in a pub. I had the 5 tapas style nibbles and they were very tasty and great portion sizes. If you haven't tried this place before give it a go, and if you have tried before and wasn't impressed please try again you won't be disappointed.

I've stopped here as a random pick but will 100% come back the food and service has been first class the chef deserves a pay rise

Felt unwelcome. It was very quiet yet music was loud; they refused to turn the volume down. Lights went out about 9 o'clock and we felt we needed to leave !

Amazing food! Lamb skewers are delicious, the steaks are fantastic, you won’t get a better fillet anywhere in my opinion. Good friendly service too. We have been many times and will continue to do so 👍

This place never disappoints me. Friday night meal with friends is made even better by the top quality food and ever so friendly service Rib eye steak served on the stone was again outstanding and so was my wife's lasagna..

This place is absolutely fantastic. The food was excellent and the portion sizes are big. If we are every this way again we will definitely be going back, the Mrs even said on our way back to our hotel that it would be worth booking an hotel here again just to go back.

In the area again ,and joined the village people for the pre toasting celebrations prior to the ancient vintage meat draw,which takes place each Friday night in the local community pub. At the given time of six thirty with eager villagers gathered safely in the establishment,Mike the mine host extraordinaire, will commence proceedings ,and make the draw. There are at least 15 prizes during the draw, so the opportunities are good to win your next meal. The place is alive, with service and beers excellent,and this time we chose to partake of the generous menu,as it was always recommended. The food on all plates ,that evening was well prepared,hot and welcoming,which sums up the various aspects of the INN its self! It's become a must visit when we fly back ,and the horse shoe is consistent in all aspects.

The food in this pub is amazing we had the chicken skewer which came with salad pitta chips and garlic sauce my son had 8oz fillet steak on hot stone with chips and salad the portions are huge and such good quality meat the staff were amazing considering they had a big party in who were late! They were great with us defo reccomend this place to anyone and such good value 😀😀

Met up with friends at this lovely place. Once again i had the steal on the stone. Again it was fabulous,. A special mention to the lovely Sophie who waited on and loooked after us all night. Thank you, you are a star .

If you love steak, you will love this place. My preference was lamb cooked on the stone before your very eyes. Great pub/dining experience. Can be busy on Fridays though due to the meat raffle

We had a lamb skewer and a chicken skewer with salad and chips and it was absolutely amazing, well worth the price. Friendly staff and great atmosphere...I'd definitely recommend.

Nice pub food, we had black and blue burger, lamb kebab and hallumi burger, all were yummy. The chips could have been better though - bit over done and seemed to be frozen oven chips.

My favourite place for a Sunday afternoon beer. More choices for real ale would give it 5 stars

Visited the Horseshoe last night, the food was lovey, hosts are really nice people and the atmosphere is cosy and relaxing. Recommend visiting to anyone.

After returning from Spain,we revisited the horseshoe on a Friday night,once again a great reception and the patrons are always very friendly. Friday is meat raffle held about 6.30,and people travel from far and wide to enjoy this popular raffle,and with the chance of winning Sunday Lunch,what's not to like. The meals that were being being served around our table looked delicious ! Thursday night is quiz night ,if you wish a evening in The Pub! Yes never let down at the horseshoe !🍻🍻🍻🍻😀

Met up with friends, as we do every 6 months at this great dining pub. I had(not for the first time) The steak on the volcanic stone, very, very nice indeed and a nice change from the normal traditional grilled steak. Service was very friendly and we were treated as if we frequented the place every week. Highly recommended.

Called here with friends in a day out. The service was excellent when the staff were really friendly. Ten if us ordered good and it all came atvth e same time. It was well presented, hot and really tasty. If I am out this way again I will call in again😁😁

Absolutely fabulous meal. From outside it looks a normal pub that may serve normal pub food. But don’t let appearance deceive. The food was great restaurant food but at pub prices, great portion size so you definitely don’t feel cheated. We were a family group of 6 and we were all very impressed. Mine was a rib-eye steak which was server on a hot stone plate so I could cook myself to perfection. The steak was spot on. We would definitely recommend and would return again 👍.

First: this pub has had to put up with large-scale road works for three months - and another three to come - which cause a long diversion from the A6 to the car parks. Anything said here should be judged against that, in case it has any bearing. And the rating system on this page does not allow N/A entries. Muzak: very noticeable; our request to have it turned down did not seem to have any effect. Meanwhile, we read the menu several times, and found no vegetarian main dish, so we left. This is a pity; we had thought from reading the website some weeks ago that this would be a good place for lunch. It now seems to specialise in burgers.

Lively pub good value food very friendly staff and clientele

Average pub inside and out, located on a busy main road. Staff pleasant enough. Six of us went for an evening meal and chose a selection of dishes. The meals arrived with food virtually overflowing from large plates. This is a place where the prices are reasonable for a large amount of food. The trouble is that the food is quantity over quality and much of the food left on the plates as the volume was overfacing. We do not feel able to recommend.

We had a wonderful evening with our friends at the Horseshoe on Buxton Road on Saturday 3rd February.We go in here quite often they offer very good food and excellent beverages.The landlord and his staff offer excellent service it's a must if your on the area.

We had a fantastic evening with our friends Madeline and Stuart at the Horseshoe Inn at High Lane, Stockport, Greater Manchester.This pub is a must to visit, they also serve fabulous food, the owner and staff are all very welcoming.

Visiting son who lives locally , and pleased to say received a warm welcome, on a busy night where local ladies and gentlemen were watching football on a Tuesday night.

We have had at least 5 meals here and have every intention of continuing. We always intend trying something different, but can never seem to drag ourselves away from the steak! Quality of the produce is superb - great jacket and garlic green beans. The kitchen has been closed for a re-fit and due to open again today I think (1 December) with a new menu to be introduced. It's a great pub, friendly locals and the staff are fabulous. We've been made very welcome on each visit and will keep on going back. They have a quiz night on a Thursday at 9.30 which is great and also do a meat draw on a Friday night at 18h30. Highly recommended.

We visit at least once a month if not more as the value for money is unbelievable.

We had two different meals both excellent. One a classic steak meal and a surf and turf. The service was prompt and attentive. Beer was good and wine OK. Definitely returning!

Excellent food , great atmosphere and good choice of beer

I have been going to this pub for several years now. I have always until now praised it for its food and atmosphere and good beer. However last night I was at the pub and ordered 2 pints of beer and offered my card for payment to be told they would take a further £1 on top of the £8 for the beer. I asked the staff why and she just said she had been told to do it. I was not happy but since the beer was already poured I felt obliged to pay the extra £1. when it was my next turn to buy a round I doubled up thinking that the fee was because it was under £10. but again they demanded the extra £1. the staff could give no explanation. I couldn't see any sign anywhere explaining this extra fee. the landlord was not around so rather than start arguing late at night I decided to go back the next day to speak to the landlord. I told him what had happened and he pointed to a sign that was on the underneath of the bar hatch (now open but shut last night ). he said he had been doing this for years. I said I had bought numerous meals at the pub and had never been told about the extra charge. he said they just added it to the bill. he said it was to cover the banks charges, however he agreed that the £1 was more than the banks charged him. I was dismayed to find out I had been ripped off every time id previously been in the pub paying with my card. the landlord was unconcerned that he was charging his customers like this. I suspect many customers are simply not aware, he just saw an opportunity to make an additional charge and blame it on the bank. The food is till good but this blatant rip off has left a bitter taste in my mouth. I shall now be telling everyone I know.

Excellent food as always, we visit regularly and the food is always beautifully cooked and great value. Mum and I shared the chilli nachos tonight with a bottle of Rioja mmmmm. Hubby had roast lamb the meat is always excellent quality.

There is always something on the menu that's 'Just what you wanted', even if you didn't know you wanted it. Freshly cooked appetising food served by friendly staff in a clean and welcoming environment. Portions sizes are good too so it's value for money. At lunchtimes it's a popular spot for locals whilst in the evenings it's a lovely traditional village pub.

A very, very popular eatery. Met with friends for a catch up meal, couldn't have been more impressed. Without doubt a lamb steak as good a one as i have ever tasted, and i have tasted my fair share. In addition the portions were very generous and the staff very friendly. Please be aware it is very popular, so book to avoid disappointment. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Been here a couple of times for lunch and the food was excellent. Really friendly pub with great staff and customers. Also called in by myself for a drink when my bus to Marple didnt turn up and was made very welcome.....highly recommended.

Our family had lunch in this pleasant village pub last week and we were very impressed with the quality of the food and the generosity of the portion size. I had the lamb skewer, which came with pitta bread, dips, salad and chips and which was delicious. Two others had lasagne and three had burgers, all including chips and side salads and not one of us managed to clean our plate! We were a party of six and our total food bill was less than £60. Outstanding value!

Good beer, excellent food and a welcoming atmosphere. The Horseshoe was refurbished recently and they did a really good job on it. Fortunately, they didn't mess with the beer and this remains one of the best pints of Unicorn around. The food here is just fantastic. Massive portions and cooked perfectly. The lava-stone steaks you sort of cook yourself are fab. The half-roast chicken is the biggest pub meal I think I've ever had but then so is everything else. Sharing nachos are also well worth a try. The staff are all very friendly, as are the more colourful locals (you know who you are") . Whether you want a quite drink in the snug, join in the Thursday quiz, Play Your Cards Right or try the meat draw, you'll have a very pleasant evening. If I was to criticise anything, the occasional guest beer runs out far too quickly!
