La Cueva in Stockport

I can’t begin to tell you how amazing this place is! My son loves the food here and requested that his 14th birthday celebrations were held there. There were 15 adults and 4 children. The staff went above and beyond, they also made my son feel so special. I was able to go during the day and decorate the tables , everyone was so helpful. The food is amazing!!! Literally every dish on the menu is exquisite. We have all come away on a high and can’t thank you all enough. What a place! What a night! THANK-YOU each and everyone of you xxx

I come here with my boyfriend for a celebration, this place is fabulous. The food is always 10/10 and the staff are amazing. The atmosphere is lovely it’s a great experience, especially with the salt cave.

What a fantastic service!!! Our waitress was called Julie and she was the best, so polite and recommended us dishes to try. She was faultless I'd return for her to serve us she was just brilliant! The food was sublime, the creamy chicken was outstanding. Thank you so much

Overpriced Wine. Food very average. Small oration of olives £4.50 asked for some more pitta bread £2.95 for 1 Chicken paella for 2 few peas, green and red peppers for and 4 pieces also very dry and tasteless not worth £26.95. Customer service dreadful rushing around like headless chickens once order taken that was it! Not even a smile! Would definitely not recommend and certainly wont be going back.

First time here Food was nice, had to wait a long time to order drinks each time and the male waiter was very miserable just looked like we were being an inconvenience. Shame really when you’re paying good money.

We really enjoyed our Mother’s Day celebration meal. Food is exceptionally tasty and authentic. Service was amazing and prompt. We will be returning back to celebrate in future any other special occasion.

Never left a bad review in my life worst tapas I have ever had and massively over priced fell bad for putting this review but I'm being honest flavours we're terrible and I had 4 forks my partner also left 80% of her food was 180 pound , also waited 20 min to take drink order and had to ask to order , sorry 😞

Great food but it was extremely busy and we felt rushed as they had people waiting- that’s good as you know people want to eat but not at the expense of being felt like you are holding people up! Very small table for three people meant glasses were balanced on little shelf and we had to mix tapas to get everything on!

The food was very good, but the presence of halloumi, feta parcels, hummus and pita (all traditional Greek dishes) on a menu for a Spanish restaurant seems out of place. The lamb estafado, chorizo and garlic prawns were excellent, but the pork belly was slightly overcooked and dry. Nonetheless, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. They also cater to gluten intolerant diners. And they do excellent cocktails. Vaya!

Fantastic staff, unbelievable food , top quality 👍

We’d heard rave reviews for this place from friends and family so we’re excited to try it for ourselves. When we arrived we were rushed in and plonked on a table with no greeting or menus, bearing in mind at this point the restaurant wasn’t very busy. We were left for about 20 minutes before anyone came to greet us. And the first thing we were asked was “how long will you be staying because you might not be able to stay at this table”. To which we didn’t really know how to respond as at this point we hadn’t ordered or seen a menu. Bearing in mind all this time other tables were being seated, given menus and had drinks orders taken. We finally ordered or drinks which then took about 15 minutes to arrive again all while other tables seated after us were receiving there drinks. We ordered various tapas (which arrived faster than the drinks) and the food was okay nothing special but the service at the start really ruined the whole experience for us, so purely because of the service unfortunately we would not return again or recommend this place. Over all we just didn’t feel very welcome and felt slightly uncomfortable which shouldn’t be the case.

Ordered a take away paella for 50+ people for an event. Easy to organise, collected it on time, even got a trip through the kitchen, which was spotless clean and well organised. The food was a great success - tasted FANTASTIC and everyone loved it. Clean plates all round!

One word… WOW Been to a few tapas places over time but this by far beats every one of them. The sangria was lovely and each dish I had was so nice. I think if I had to choose a favourite it would be the creamy chicken. Service was good and very speedy. All the staff we spoke to were absolutely lovely. My only negative was the volume of the music but that is all I can say as a negative. I don’t think this place is pricey like I’ve read, it’s tapas and I think the pricing is normal. We all agreed we would definitely come back again and I would highly recommend it to everyone and anyone.

Lovely restaurant and decor. Nice wine.. awesome chicken wings, calamari, and chorizo. Service was quick and efficient but lacked a friendly attentive touch from the serving staff who looked like they didn't want to be there. Pricing is spot on.. A busy venue and a nice atmosphere.

Me and hubby went for his birthday treat as its quite expensive , beautiful food , Our daughter phoned earlier and paid for a bottle of Prosecco to be bought to our table ..which we never received 😢 She has received a refund and an apology to say it was very busy !! Sorry La cueva really not good enough !

Absolutely delicious Wish we had one nearer to home

Came for first time wanted to visit for a while. Ordered pina colada was given a warm glass of milk with coconut bits floating around the glass, the drink had not shaken as a cocktail should be. He stirred with spoon tasted it and put back in my drink paid for drink and starter and left won’t be back.

Food is nice. Drinks very expensive. J20 with soda £5.95! When ordering food, read the Spanish of what we wanted which is on the menu next to the English and got told to order in English. Bit rude when I was just trying to make an effort

Food was AMAZING. Can’t fault it!

Me and my other half came here as we’ve been before but it’s been a while. Absolutely faultless, fast and fresh. We got a table fast without booking. We ordered 6 dishes between us and that was enough. My favourites were the ham croquettes and the lamb cubes! Definitely worth going in. One of the best places we have been to in a while. Cheadles hidden gem.

Having heard good recommendations and being local to us in Cheadle, we booked for a party of 10 in early October for Friday 15th December at 9pm. Despite conflicting information about the last order time for the kitchen of 10pm, we were assured by staff, and even the owner, numerous times over the lead up, and when paying the deposit, that there wouldn't be a problem on the evening. We arrived on time and were seated off the main dining area which was fine, firstly ordering drinks. There was continually confusion between the waiters as to whether the draught beer was Estrella or San Miguel, and 2 bottles of Rioja were placed on the table open, and left for us to pour ourselves. The waiter didn't ask if anyone wanted to taste if it was acceptable. I have never experienced this before! We ordered entrees and tapas dishes, which arrived very quickly, and have to say the food was very good. Once we had all finished, the waiter came to clear away the dishes, and we asked to order main courses, this was at 9.45pm. He told us that the kitchen was now closed and the cook had gone home. We protested this was contrary to what had been said during the booking process, and the stated kitchen closing time of 10pm on the website, nor had it been communicated when we ordered the drinks and tapas. Over the next 15 minutes, a waiter, then a manager came and went but kept coming back just reiterating that there was now nobody in the kitchen, along with various irrelevant excuses and apologies. Extremely annoyed and our evening drastically curtailed, we asked how much was owed, but that we would not pay the 10% service charge, and were informed that it was £211. This was after the previously paid deposit of £100 had been deducted. No bill or receipt was offered, and we said we would pay £200 (cash} and this was readily accepted. We walked out at about 10.15pm. In the 45 minutes we were sat at the table, we had spent £311.00, and had we been able to complete the evening with additional food and drink, we anticipated that we would have spent at least further £250.00, our evening was completely spoilt by the mismanagement at La Cueva. We have never had an experience of this kind in all the years we have been doing our annual 'get togethers', either in Bramhall, Cheadle or Wilmslow restaurants, and despite the food being fine it has certainly put many of us off going to La Cueva again unfortunately.

With a warm welcome and spacious table arrangements, allowing freedom of movement and conversation, this a new favourite for me. The menu offers plenty of choice, the prices seem on the high side but the food is excellent quality and value for money. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient with a special shout out to Alex who has brightened each of our visits. I would highly recommend this little gem. Private dining is also available.

An authentic tapas restaurant with quirky interior. Food is superb and the staff welcoming and helpful

I really visited this restaurant after hearing rave reviews. I have to say that o wasn’t overwhelmed. The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy and I liked that the staff weren’t hovering over us. Unfortunately the lady who took our orders was very stony faced- no hellos or pleasantries- just a”what do you want”. I had a glass of very average Rioja, which I found bizzare in a Spanish restaurant. The food was was really delicious but the prices are insanely high and the portions are insulting small. The calamari we ordered, for example (which was £8) was literally 4 small rings on a plate of leaves and so it went on with every dish. There’s one thing to keep costs down in this economic climate, please understand things are expensive, but this was really a joke and an insult. I’d be embarrassed to recommend this to family or friends for this reason.

Food was absolutely perfect! Couldn't be better. Service was good but a little slow (Friday night and 1 staff member down). Will definately be back!

Every dish was absolutely beautiful, the staff were incredible, such a beautiful meal in a fantastic setting..could not recommend it more 😀 I went last week for the 1st time, and went again yesterday, and will definitely be back there soon.

Would not recommend this place. Reservation made for a group of 6 well in advance. We arrived too early and where told the table was not ready, so no drama we'll pop to the pub down the road. Arrived back at our reservation time to find now there is no table available. Made to wait outside for 40 minutes past our reservation time, when we eventually gave up and went else where. Very poor service and management.

Booked a table for 11 people for my hubbys birthday meal, we were seated on arrival and were looked after from start to finish. Food was amazing. Everyone had different dishes and said how lovely and tasty they were. Highly reccomend booking 5* Will definantly be returning. Thank you all so much.

My wife and I went for dinner on Saturday night, and we both said what a cracking place this is. The staff were very friendly and gave us time to pick out tapas. We picked 5, and that was more than enough, and they were all to a very high standard . We also had a glass of very drinkable wine ( just 1 driving ) . The price was an even better so good value

Friendly restaurant, with a great range of dishes available. The food comes out as and when it is ready as is normal with tapas. Our group had items including the Belly Pork, which was very tender and Paella which was very tasty. All dishes served are big enough to share between 2 people so nice to try a selection of dishes.

Really nice restaurant with authentic tapas. Food great, it's real tapas rather than all your food coming at same time. The cave at the back with the rocksalt walls is great and service excellent.

Went as a Saturday night treat. Booked the table for 7:30. The greeter couldn’t find a table for us so we waited near the door along with a few others. Eventually seated whilst the waitress cleaned our table, apologising, she said they always overbook. Had to ask for menus. Then had three waitresses in succession ask us if we were ready to order. Drinks served fast and we eventually ordered 6 tapas dishes. The waitress said they would arrive as they were ready and we expected the usual relaxed tapas style service. They all arrived within the next few minutes. Wham bam thank you mam. We were in and out in under an hour. The food was disappointing. Calamari was 3 rings of 70% batter to 30% squid. Goats cheese croquettes tasted very processed and mostly filled with a floury sauce. Again 90% filler and I could barely taste the goats cheese. The potatas bravas were really disappointing. Soggy squares with a tomato sauce on top. No crunch there at all. Even just chips or deep fried potatoes would have been an improvement. My husband had meatballs which he enjoyed and some pork which was edible. The pardron peppers were the only thing they got right. When they bought the bill the waitress bought the pay machine with her and waited for us to pay up immediately. I asked for a few moments to review the bill and said that we felt that the whole meal had been rushed. She apologised and agreed and left us for a few moments. For some reason this place is incredibly busy. I really don’t understand why. There are loads of better restaurants in Cheadle.

A great place. Tapas are only small so it's better ordering two dishes. Plenty to choose from and great drink selection as well. The bill can add up (the more you have), but still: a celebration, date night - it's worth at least once a month. Best to book a table in advance as well. Parking is practically no existent so- a taxi is best - drink more sangria that way!

If you love tapas food and excellent service it's a must visit venue. First time visit and nothing but praise from us. Staff are very attentive food delivered very quick even when resturant is full. Very tasty dishes and great varied menu. We had 6 plates between 2 and a bread side easily enough and the Malbac is a great wine nice seating on the kerbside its like you are on vacation on a warm late summer evening a definate for another visit 5*

Late afternoon meal with family. Enjoyed each dish, eleven ordered. Requested a staggered service (twice) but most dishes came all at once. Space an issue. Delay before salad and then paella. Recommend only order a few dishes at a time! Wine expensive for quality. Recommend food.

Service was a bit slow to begin with, as in it took a while for then to take the food order, however the food came quickly once ordered. Food itself was very nice.

Great food, lovely staff and atmosphere! We had 9 dishes between 3 and they were all delicious, would 100% recommend the lamb cubes! The red wine sangria was really nice and complemented the food well (as you'd maybe hope with tapas).

Had a lovely atmosphere in Le Cueva tonight, the staff were attentive and friendly and the food was delicious ! Thank you to all we had a fabulous time, we will definitely be back soon.

Great food and excellent lunch option in Cheadle

The lamb stew 'Estafado' was Awful. Only good dish was Chorizo. I have eaten there before and it was great. Not sure what has happened.

Myself and 4 other ladies attended tonight and wow what an amazing meal we had, food was FRESH, piping hot and cooked to perfection!! The staff were attentive and so pleasant! not one of our party had single negative thing to say about our meal! what upset us however, was a group of 'older' ladies and gents sat directly behind us being downright rude to the staff, making comments such as "won't be coming here again" and using expletives to describe the food and so on as the lovely staff were walking past, the place was so busy for a Wednesday evening and that just goes to show how delightful the atmosphere and food was. to also comment about other people's meal choices as they left the restaurant "oh they had what we had poor them" so rude! also, when they complained that the food wasn't fresh, the chef even invited them to look in the kitchen to see how the food was prepared, to which they declined. I must also mention these people CLEARED their plates before complaining about how unsatisfied they were with their meal! some people are just looking for a free meal! thankyou to all of the staff at La Cueva we will definitely be visiting again! and how you kept your cool I will never know. Many thanks again!

Let's start with the service. Crack a smile girls it costs nothing miserable all the way through. Absolutely couldn't be bothered. The food. Well if you like frozen food fresh out of Iceland this is the place for you. The paella is no different to Iceland own with the exception of a 2 extra prawns and a couple of muscles. The croquettes were straight from a packet. And the belly pork sauce was tomato ketchup fried in a pan. Highlight nicely decorated. And not half bad wine.

dined here with friends, hoping for an evening out, grazing on tapas. only to be given all the dishes at once, overcrowding the table, then given the bill without asking for it. we were planning on ordering more food later after ordering more drinks but then asked if we needed the card machine. £160 bill.,… and we were in and out within an hour!!!! so we moved to the bar next door and gave them our custom. the male waiter needs to learn some customer service….if he worked for me, he’d be in the back washing dishes. food is lovely…calamari melts in your mouth. meatballs are delicious, so is the belly pork, bruschetta and creamy chicken. paella was a bit boring, i make better myself.

Great saturday spot- 2 dishes each were perfect for lunch, but may want 3 dishes per person for a decent dinner. Recommend getting garlic bread or fries to mop up the sauces, all of which were fantastic

Fantastic restaurant, throughly enjoy my time here

We were seated in the back of the restaurant in the "cave" area. On the really warm evening of 7th July 2023 we were glad of the cooling air-conditioning. Drinks ordered and food order given it didn't seem too long before we were tucking into our delicious tapas meals, although 3 out of 4 of us chose the paella and myself, the creamy chicken. Super tasty was the comment from us all. We ordered more drinks but by now we were ready to get warm again so we sat outside where it was warmer and a thoroughly good evening was had with great friends, great food and drinks, very pleasant and accomidating staff in attendance and a great atmosphere. We will definitely be going back there again 😊

From the excellent reviews, I was expecting a lot. I wasn't disappointed. The menu contains the traditional tapas options, with the odd twist. Everything we ordered was delicious. We ordered 6 tapas between the two of us. This ended up being quite a bit of food. We still managed it though. Some dishes are on the pricey side, but the quality made them worth it. The mushrooms in cream, the pork belly and the albondigas (with cheese) were the highlights. But, as mentioned, everything was delicious.

Being a Spaniard in Manchester, I’ve found it quite hard to find a Spanish place with an authentic taste that’s not overpriced. La Cueva positively surprised me! The food took me right back to Spain - I was a little child again enjoying my grandma’s cooking. The portions were decently sized and the atmosphere was great. Definitely will be coming back!

There is no need to travel all the way to Spain if you can make your way to Cheadle! Amazing tapas, friendly staff, fast service.
