Great pub, good well kept beers, great friendly locals. Good to meet you Tex!

Today’s visit was a 5. Guinness was poured expertly. Although last nights visit. Hmm. Asked for a single JD he poured a double. Then proceeded to charge us £11.90 For an “asked” single JD & coke a capri sun and a Guinness. Tonight we got charged £6.90 for 2 Guinness’s. Stark difference. Moral of this story don’t get served by the old bloke with no neck.

Landlord is racist to travellers and made comments that was disgusting. Landlady was spot on

Fairly local to us. Food was tasty and good value for money. Gentleman behind the bar was very pleasant. Carparking could be a bit if an issue as very small carpark, but parking on the street possible.

Friendly staff amazing place to make new friends off all ages has fun games night highly recommend trying it out

A good classic boozer. Don’t expect fancy drinks or pricey food.

After moving to Barnstaple l looked around for a pub that does live Football, The horse and groom was my final destination. The bar service was quick, the bar staff friendly, as things stand this has become my local, excellent

Really great atmosphere,,got multi screens to watch sport, staff were happy to turn one of the screens to the sport I wanted to watch while I was in there. Only thing didn't like was when ordering a specific short felt it was really expensive as if I had another it would have been cheaper to buy a bottle from the local tesco.

Stumbled on this pub while in Devon for short break. Great pub. Nice atmosphere. Lovely pint of doom bar, cheap as chips. Locals seem friendly. Dog friendly as well. Well worth a visit.

What a great pub with lovley landlord Ray and Tracy.Relaxed atmosphere with lots of fun games bingo nights etc. Lovley locals very friendly and very safe for all ages.

Rowdy customers egged on by staff

Only went in this pub for a few weeks whilst I was working in the area, Ray and Tracy the landlords are such nice people always made everyone feel welcome and involved, always games bingo and raffles going on, sports galore on the TVs a pool table couple of dart boards. All in all a great proper pub. Thanks guys keep it up hopefullyill pop In again

My work colleague and I visited this pub last night and I have to say its one of the best pubs I've been to in a long time. The warm greeting we received by everyone was just perfect. Pool table well maintained. Haven't got a bad word to say about it.

Another Barnstaple pub that well, disappoints.

A good pint clean and comfortable surroundings shame no sandwiches or pie's. Worth a visit anyway.

Tracey and Ray who run the pub, are not only great hosts, they also do fundraising for SSAFA and donated food and goodies for 25 families at Easter. They have a bingo night, raffels and a meat draw, not forgetting the fun duck or camel race. There is a lot of entertainment here, you won't be disappointed. Peace ✌️❤️

Handy location and had sport on numerous TVs. There was an altercation outside when we arrived in the afternoon

Good afternoon spent watching the football staff were fantastic and joined in the fun

Great service. Friendly and helpful staff. Accommodated a large group of us really well given the number of restrictions in place due to covid. Great set up with the TVs for sport. Good selection of beers and very reasonably priced. Best pub we came across in town and we sampled most.

Very pleasant staff and loverly clean pub

I moved here nearly a week ago and went in here for a few drinks. I had a warm welcome off the landlord, shown me to my table and served me straight away. Friendly atmosphere, Ray and Tracey were absolutely amazing along with all their staff! Quick service, always served with a smile and made conversation which was lovely after being new to the area!! This will definitely be the pub I go to from now on! Definitely would recommend on going there!

My local pub and greatly improved since the old manager Dave left. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere, good value for money. All staff are nice and helpful, Kat is a particular stand out member of the team.

I usually go here on a Friday and Saturday night . Great atmosphere. Lots of friendly guys. Bar staff really nice. Oh and the door MAN TIM well let’s say he’s really nice !

I never post anything on Facebook but I have to say that this establishment was a good place. Now however is a different matter. I've been drinking in the pub for about 18 years. I had an accident 7 years ago due to to this i am now disabled and have walking issues. I was out with a friend and I went in for a beer and as soon as I got to the bar the manager told me to leave without telling me why and rudely. I have travelled round the world been on 4 contents been to 8 different countries over 30 different places in the world. And I have never had to deal with discrimination in all my travels. I suggest that till there is a different matter don't go in.

Alright but scabby/ rough customers.

We were feeling thirsty so went into the Horse&Groom, I had a pint of Thatchers Haze which was delicous&refreshing, A nice young lady behind the bar&A good pool table 2 games for £1.

Lovely environment we come to karaoke some times and it is a great night

Went to watch the football with family, arrived and abused by the landlord Dave for asking to put the game on the many TVs there. Later on guests constantly bombarded by Dave the barman about his 20 person ‘brawl’ in the pub the night before. Afterwards we were lucky enough to enjoy Dave’s racist abuse at customers and players on TV, in which he responded as ‘it’s my pub’. Run by the scum of the earth so recommend to avoid this place at all costs. Run by a racist, rubbish beers, cash only and a dangerous place to go.
