Do not eat the fish and chips absolutely horrendous, was taken back twice and still came out terrible would never go back

Lovely pub in quite cosy area the pub itself reflects this with a cute homely rustic atmosphere the beer is superb and the food has that home cooked vibe and is super tasty especially for the money if you are in the area and want a chilled drink and some lovely food come here With special probs to Emma and Nicki

Visited for mothers day, the food was fantastic. It was extremely busy (which is great to see) not a criticism but service could have been slightly better in terms of drinks, but could see all the staff were super busy. Lovely place and gorgeous food! Can't wait to go back!

Fabulous pub. I travel with work and it was so good we ate here twice in one weekend. Staff were very friendly, food was amazing! We had steak, the lamb skewers and one of the burgers. Everything was seasoned and cooked well. You could feel the care and attention given to the food. Which is shown by how popular it clearly is. We’ll be back!

4 of us eating. I ordered the Hanging Lamb and another in the party ordered the Salmon. These meals were terrible. The Lamb was tough, the potatoes were hard and the vegetables were just not good. The remaining meals were fair. Lesson learnt. Great location, decent bar but avoid the food. Such a pity that the Management couldn’t invest in a half decent Chef.

Great food, dog friendly area, ample parking and right in the edge of the chase so you can go for a walk to burn off those calories from the pudding.

Explain the logic. I can order a sandwich and chips outside, but I cant order a burger and chips (which is still a sandwhich) because apparently its to heavy to bring outside. 2 pints are heavier then a burger, and youll happily bring that outside. Its like you want to loose customers

My partner and I love coming to this place. It's in a great spot for walking the dog, plus the fact it's dog friendly is even better. The food here is always incredible. The Sunday roast is amazing and great portions for the price but I would highly recommend booking as they are always busy. Alot of seating outside too with a small car park. My partner is a vegetarian and she still has great meals here. Definitely worth a visit

what can we say about the horns apart from me and my fiance love it up there. Beautiful walk up from rugeley up sants brook in the summer so we can have a hazy walk home 🤣. The girls have really turned this place around and should be proud of themselves it really is a rugeley place to be! The food is fantastic and fair priced it's dog friendly and the dog loves her treats and when we buy her a doggy bowl( yes they cater for dogs too) . Good beer, good beer garden, beautiful surroundings and sometimes live bands or acts brilliant keep up the good work ladies

Just dropped in after a drive and have to say the food was spot on. Had pie of the day (Steak and Ale) and the pie crust was crispy and the meat had no grizzle . Mash and veg well cooked . Wife had the sausages and mash and again couldn’t fault it. Bar staff cheerful even though she couldn’t understand my Yorkshire accent asking for Coke :-)

been there several times and it never fails to excel prices, compared to some of the other establishments in the area are very reasonable the food and the service is excellent. the best thing for me is that it is consistent. always a very good experience. I can't praise the place highly enough

The staff were perfect, the food wait at over an hour was a little disappointing, steak and ale pie somehow the meat was very dry, pizza was bland and veg hard..They missed a meal in the kitchen too, personally would have knocked that off the bill considering it's only £4.50 to lessen the blow but no.. The price for food is a little more than the Chet and Swan with two necks but the food quality is less. Nice place to go for a pint but I'd leave the food 🤝

Always a lovely meal and service

Popped in this evening with family who were up from Torquay. Very welcoming - lovely tasty food, the young man waiting tables who served us was very pleasant and helpful. Nice atmosphere and we had a lovely evening.

Top food chips like mom used to cook great friendly service best find after moving from Birmingham to Staffordshire great pint and lots of gins to choose from.

The food tasted fine but the next day I had terrible food poisoning. This was the only food I ate so I know it came from the pub. Such a shame. Reply to owner: The proof is that this is the only food that could have caused it that I've eaten in the time frame suggested by the NHS. I've added information direct from the NHS website which says you can show symptoms between hours and days of eating bad food. Plus I started to feel sick last night and then it got worse.

Horrible service, Staff were nice but the owner was horrible. Booked for a Christmas dinner and pre-ordered ended up waiting 2hrs and only had starters. The owner was horrible when any complaints were made. Overall generally horrible business

Food was good and the service was pleasant but slow. The prices are surprisingly expensive, The same quality of food is available for less elsewhere, and better food is available for the same money elsewhere. Would I return? Maybe. It's OK but nothing special.

Just back from Sunday lunch with my brother it was lovely we had a starter of mushrooms and the crispy beef .Turkey and beef on the mains food was hot well presented with a great selection of veg Angelique as always friendly and well informed re the food love the new decor fab again

The Horns is a clean and comfortable place. The decor is traditional and warming. There is an outside area thst overlooks the car park (when I was there last summer I saw a whole herd of deer run down the road!) It's one of the few places as a woman that I'm happy to go to alone. They welcome dogs and have a real fire! Bonus!! Behind the pub is a lovely country walk to take the dog before going in for the yummy food. They do all the usual stuff- fish and chips, steaks, burgers, etc. The sandwiches are to die for (they have their own smokers and the pulled pork is plentiful and divine). The loaded fries (I think they have 5 different kinds?) are a main meal in themselves. If I had one criticism, it would be that I would like them to provide a soup and sandwich option. I have no doubt the soup would be homemade and delicious like everything else is!! Really deserves a visit. Xxx

Met with friends for a Saturday evening meal. Beautiful meals for us all.... the fish and chips was the best i have tasted in a very long time. Etablishment was warm and friendly and staff were very attentive and polite. Well done to all. Looking forward to visiting you again.

Excellent Sunday lunch, came a few weeks ago and told the staff I don’t usually have Sunday lunches from pubs as they’re never the same as at home, but they definitely are here! Beautiful and tasty, and all staff friendly, helpful. A lovely place to come for a treat. Highly recommend ❤️

lovely atmosphere,however there was a snail in my salad! when telling the manager, she apologised and offered complimentary hot drinks. I don't really drink hot drinks I told her , she then said " well theres not a lot else I can do for you, other than apologies" I then had to pay the full amount for the meal I couldn't eat all of " . I would have liked some money knocked off the total bill, considering there was a snail in my food 🤢

I visited this pub a couple of Sundays ago, the service was quite slow and they seemed to take for ever to take our first drinks order, we ended up going to the bar in the end ourselves. Another long wait for our food order to be taken, but when the food arrived it was all forgotten about. The Sunday roast was to die for, by far the best Sunday roast I've had in a while.

So disappointed. Food is good but service is worst I’ve experienced and the shouty moaning image created on special media makes you feel like you’re not good enough to visit. I won’t be able to answer the inevitable reply but trust me, this place makes you feel like a flump for expecting drinks order to be taken within the first hour of sitting at an uncleared table that you booked two weeks in advance. I miss the Horns that we moved to area for.

Went here last week. Food is flavourless, stodgy but is piled up high. Assume most of the food is frozen / reheated with little freshly cooked. Similar to wetherspoons standard in my opinion but more expensive. Gordon Ramsey would not be happy. And waitress had a bit of an attitude. Wouldn't go again.

I’m putting a review on here purely based on their service, or lack of it. I’ve tried to book this place on multiple occasions and it takes way too long for them to confirm a booking. Needs to be better

A lovely Bar/restaurant situated in the beautiful forest of Cannock Chase. The servers are all very friendly, the food was excellent and there was a really good atmosphere. Will definitely return.

The manager was really rude, this was a while ago but has bothered me ever since. I asked the waiter if I could get my pizza extra crispy as i can’t eat stringy cheese due to a phobia I’ve had since I was little. The manager piped up from the table next to us and just said, “you’ll get it how it comes mate” . I was only young at the time and this had really upset me, I try to avoid eating here due to this

Went for the first time today. The Sunday roast beef dinner was absolutely lovely. The meat was delicious and the Yorkshire pudding was so light. The veg was cooked to perfection. Then we had dessert. OMG!! Absolutely perfect. Well worth the money. Definitely would recommend and definitely going back. 5+++++ xxx

Great food and very friendly staff

Me and the hound popped in on our 8 mile hike for a much needed half way pit stop. Lovely pint of Wainwright's or 2 later and we were both rested for the trip back. The service was prompt and professional and we were both made to feel welcome. Lovely.

Booked to eat on a Saturday evening, had mixed feeling as I have read some bad reviews but we were pleasantly surprised as the food was delicious. I had a Rump Steak and the wife a lasagne both came out looking and tasting great. The steak probably tasted better than I have had anywhere else in years. The staff were very friendly, polite and attentive. The price was very reasonable also. I would recommend this place and will be going again.

Arrived for lunch on a Thursday; staff were very friendly and the food was amazing. I honestly had the best ham, egg, and chips ever! Everything freshly cooked and piping hot; 2 eggs perfectly fried; a mountain of garden peas; chips cooked to perfection with no sign of grease; and ham which was so thick and of the highest quality. Honestly, try it, you won't be disappointed.

This was my me and my wife's first visit here. We first went for a walk to the slitting mill waterfalls well worth a visit 👍. Then on to the horns. My wife had the fish and chips it looked and tasted exceptional. I had the hanging kebab with fries and garlic nan absolutely stunning my wife then finished off with a oreo cheesecake 👌. Service first class we will be back 10/10

Under staffed but friendly. 3 meals ordered Slow cooked belly pork was a tasteless cremated strip, plate swimming in grease from sauce , duophoise potatoes which had a hard burnt top. Fillet steak ordered meduim came out cooked meduim to well and looked more like a sirloin , sent back and fresh steak given Informed chef cooks different and next time to order rare to meduim!! Chicken skewers no problems and very tastie. For money paid for meals would not recommend and won't be going back

Staff were superb, the owner was lovely and the food was outstanding. The combo was huge and the delicious could have fed 2 people. Pie was also brilliant

Called in for a drink, nice atmosphere

Absolutely terrible we ordered food and we waited over 50 minutes for our food but I ordered food and told them I got allergies and they told me I could have some of what I put my order in then 20 minutes later I was told that everything I ordered was cooked in things I couldn't have, then when we refused to pay we were told by the manager that the food was on the pass but we still had to have it and take it away and the manager made us pay for the food even though we never ate it, the manager said that everything was cooked from fresh but the lasagne was reheated and not once did anybody apologise to us and the manager was very rude, sarcastic and intimating and very unprofessional for her position as a manager, she had absolutely disgusting behaviour towards us and we are very disgusted by her behaviour and how they treated us and infront of a child absolutely disgusting she should be ashamed of herself for the way she treats customers, so never going back and won't ever be paying those prices absolutely disgraceful and to be so bad mannered in front of a child no child should have to hear what the manager said to us.

Lovely afternoon with great food ! Booked a table for 2pm, arrived slightly early but was welcomed and shown to our table. Given plenty of time to choose from the menu and was not disappointed with its our food. Nice amount of time between courses didn’t feel rushed at all and a nice chilled atmosphere. Really enjoyed all of our food, we had starters and mains and think it was around 1 hour 40 for the whole time we were there. Cannot fault the food or service and will definitely return!

Don't bother going on a 'hot' day - we arrived at half 6 to be told kitchen is closing and will only do pizza to then order at 6.50 to be told kitchen is closed because of the tremendous heat! Missed out on 4 families walking out and not eating. Avoid for disappointment.

We stayed in our our Campervan on the 27/07/2024 in there car park through park for night. Nikki the host and her team were amazing. So kind and generous. Above the bar it says come as customers and leave as friends and that is so true. The food was amazing. Rump steak was just like eating butter. They must have an amazing chef. Attention to detail amazing. Thanks for letting us stay

Disgusting food we ate it because we was starving , we waited 90 mins for the food to come and I bought most of it home for my dogs ,expensive food but rubbish used to go pub quite often but never again

Just had our first meal here and wow.Why didn't we find out about this place before. The food and service was 1st class.We were a party of 4 and each course of food was fantastic and we were all commenting on the quality and quantity of the food.. With the feel and location of a country pub with a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff this is a place we will be going back too,again and again.5 stars and thank you for providing us with a memorable visit.

A lovely country pub. Warm, welcoming, rustic and cozy. Plenty of seating inside and out. Main meal...1 adult peperoni pizza and a kids cheese burger and chips. Desert...(childs) chocolate brownie with ice cream. 3 pints of larger, 1 pint shandy, 3 orange J20. Really good portions and value for money. Furry friends were welcome too.

Went last week for lunch and the staff were amazing and food great. Decided to go back tonight for a meal with family and the service was awful. It took 45mins for the starters to come, another 30mins for mains and 20 more for dessert by which time the entire pub was almost empty and we just wanted to leave. Nobody checked once that the food was ok and we had an overcooked prawn starter that no chef should have sent out. Rest of food was ok but the service ruined the meal overall and it wasn't cheap. Shame as I'd go back for lunch possibly but never an evening meal again. No staff to even complain to, the bar lads just wanted to finish and go home by the time we finished due to being so slow!!

Recently visited here with my family of 6, including two toddlers, and both the service and food were outstanding. All the staff that served us were very polite and couldn’t do enough. The food was beautiful - the best roast dinner we’ve had in a local pub. Will definitely visiting here again.

After our first visit which was a fantastic experience we decided to book to celebrate a family members birthday. The roast pork was fantastic very tender, can’t fault the dinner and the trimmings. Would help if sauces came out before the dinner arrived had ate half of it before the apple sauce arrived. Disappointing that two of the dessert options had run out and it was only early afternoon, shouldn’t be happening especially if they are popular desserts that early on. It was very busy so service was slow which didn’t bother us we were having a lovely family get to get together until we were told very rudely at 2:45pm that we needed to be off the table by 3pm which the manner it was delivered was uncalled for particularly as we were on time for our booking it was out of our control. It took 55 minutes from the time we arrived for our meals to arrive because they were busy, which we had no problem with but we can only go as fast as the people serving and was still waiting for our dessert order to be taken at 2:40pm did not appreciate the eye roll when pointing this out…however the manager and server did apologise.

Fab Sunday lunch, definitely coming back!

We've found our new favourite place to eat....cannot fault the food at all, excellent portions, high quality food, cooked to perfection. Sunday lunch is the best I've had. Recommended to family and they all agreed with us. Lovely friendly staff and nice atmosphere. What more could you ask for.

Was hopeful for this place, as the reviews and food looked good. However we arrived,were acknowledged, but proceeded to wait at the bar for 15 minutes and still hadn't been served. We decided to leave when the lady at the bar started serving others who had come after us. It wasn't particularly busy either.

Used to have good food, but very disappointed with tonight's meal, gammon way too salty could not eat at all. FURTHER COMMENT TO PUB OWNER'S REPLY: I dined yesterday 26/06 for a birthday meal, I did complain and was told gammon is salt meat, same attitude as your comment, i know it is salty meat, but it is way beyond normal salty, my daughter's gammon is the same she could not stand it either, it is unfair to me paid meals which we could not eat!1 star is for gammon, new profile did not mean I did not dine at yours! Attached the screen shot of payment, maybe you can refund me the cost for "my made-up visit"?? Popped in after a bike ride on chase Told they were closed but website states open until 11pm?? Only wanted a drink and chill for an hour but bar man was quite rude and said the pub closed at 7pm on website. I said it states otherwise online but still he sniggered and stated “I don’t think so luv!!” Won’t be back as attitude was not good even though good reviews made us visit.

We have pre ordered meals due to number of people attending but a couple of us had their starters missed, so that was an additional 15 minute wait. Some of us found the meals bland e.g the salmon and swordfish and literally everything had spice/chilly. However the portion sizes were huge. We initially booked a dog friendly area which was confirmed but later we were told it was double booked, as a result our dogs couldn't attend . Parking is a nightmare, when you first go in it's really tight, should be a one way system as it can be accessed from another route.

Excellent place for a leisurely lunch

I've got into the habit of not deciding on how much I like a place until the 2nd visit or more. This review I am leaving as I sit at the table with a full belly for the 2nd time and I cant not express how Inlove this place. I can honestly say it's some of the best food I have had. Great tasting food, brilliant portion size and the staff are amazing. Even my very picky child loves it here. Can't wait to come back again

Can't rank food, only stayed for a drink. All staff were friendly and welcoming. Revisited the following week, staff were same , food was fantastic, portions are really good, and from conversation we had with another diner they too were very impressed.

The food was fabulous. We couldn't eat it all so took some away with us and had it the next day
