The Hong Kong Cuisine Ltd in Kettering

Decent local Chinese, ordered lots of times over the years, saw some of the recent reviews and thought I should share my positive experience and try and bump the rating up as genuinely never had a bad meal from here. I'm very fussy too.

The shredded beef was very disappointing. The sauce was the consistency of water, the beef appeared to be missing or that small it could not be tasted and the batter tasted very greasy. The banana fritters lacked syrup too. Had far better food elsewhere.

Take away service only, the staff are friendly and the food was nice. There is a good range of dishes that seem well cooked and tasty. However some of the dishes were really sauce heavy, intact the chilli shredded beef was actually swimming which was a bit of a shame. I would eat there again but the I’ll be a little more selective with my order.

I actually really like this place, the food is really good, great staff, great customer service. I recommend it, but I'm not everyone's taste.

In all my years of takeaway food, this has to be the worst I’ve ever eaten. Ribs were that hard and dried out when we bit into them they crumbled and completely dried out. House special fried rice was boiled rice with a spoon of juice, carrots, cabbage and a tiny cut of meat that had no taste. When we called them they didn’t care and the lady laughed. CASH ONLY! Now we know why. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!

Very expensive! £7 mushroom rice! Lad on the counter has as much charisma as the counter itself. Actual place inside looks like it's from the 70's era.

Good Chinese but very expensive for what you get

Very poor, the two meals we had (crispy beef and sweet and sour pork balls) both in a thin liquid like soup! Both only tasted of vinegar, won’t use them again! Chips had been over cooked!

Avoid, thought we would try a new Chinese cuisine… made a mistake doing that today as the food was below average, chilli shredded beef was too watery, sweet and sour sauce just tasted of vinegar and the beef and mushroom had no taste. Sorry but not coming back here again

Special chow mein was bland and dry. Could not recommend.

Very nice local Chinese takeaway, always find you get plenty of meat in the dishes and personally I find in nicer than others in the local area...very clean inside , it's always still lovely and warm even after we have walked home with it.

Guy on the front desk looks like he could do with a good wash. Special szechaun, took 2 minutes. Not fresh. Got it home and it is just a congealed mess. Been there previously and was good but whoever is cooking now needs to work in the dog food factory, saying that i chucked it in the bin cause I wouldn't even give it to the dog. Stay clear unless you haven't eaten for a month

Just had a meal for 1 from here for the first time in years. Had set meal with a swap to fried beef Cantonese style instead of chicken with vegetables. I would rate this dish 10/10. The sweet and sour pork balls were just ok as they used cheaper cuts of meat 6/10. Egg fried rice was fine. £12:20 delivered. Reasonable value and delivery within 25 minutes of ordering.

Excellent Thai takeaway. Anybody giving this takeaway a bad rating doesn't know quality. I've eaten here many times and it's always great. I've lived in Vietnam and Thailand this is as close as you'll get to the real thing. I read one bad review about the chef's should not be visible and serving parts of the chicken that isn't edible. Both are not true! And both these things are apparent in 5 star restaurants and very normal in Asia. Bon appetit

Great food again from hong kong cuisine! John on the phones knowledge of the menu helps to deal with orders quickly and Efficiently!

Always a good meal here can't fault the dude on the till. He's memorised every number on the menu.

Had a delivery very nice ..all hot and very nice cooked food.

We went to this place for a takeaway, on entering the man behind the counter was on the phone. We waited a couple of minutes until he finished, there was no smile no hello and basically no manners. We ordered and I offered my card but he just said we only take cash. My partner drove home whilst i waited. A lady came in and offered her card to pay and he told her what he had told us but then said there was a cash machine in the shop along the road!!!. Why did he let my partner drive home instead of giving us the same info. The food wasn't nice either, will never use this place again.

By far the tastiest sweet and sour chicken in the town. Not too sweet, not too sour. Just right.

The food is delicious, the price is reasonable and the staff is friendly.

I have used this takeway for years has always been good. 30 mins late today and i had pre-ordered Food arrived cold. The answer i got when i rang to complain i will tell the chef I will not use them again Very poor customer service

Worst fried rice and spicy wings l have ever eaten. Not authentic Chinese food. Really wonder if its really Chinese or Asian chefs cooking the food as you can't see the chefs behind the counter. Will never ever buy from them. The wings smelled of stale blood and the fatter part of wings was removed. Ony the middle and end of wing was given to me of which the latter is inedible.

Absolutely gorgeous food and usually very fast. We're regulars and it's standard for them to say "within the hour" what's there to moan about when it arrives especially quickly!

9 minutes from ordering they were knocking at the door. 2 minutes drive to my house so that's 7 minutes to cook a beef in blackbean sauce and a chicken curry. But the delivery driver was adamant its all cooked fresh. The person on the phone said delivery within the hour but it took 9 minutes 😒 🙄

First time we have placed an order.Fabulous takeaway, food lovely, meat very tender, service to a very high standard. Good value for money. On time with delivery.

We love this Chinese take away. They aren't always 100% cooperative if they make a mistake with your order but the food always tastes great and you never have to wait long if you phone in advance.

Really delicious food, no idea what the person said about portion sizes as these are the same size as other Chinese takeaways. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic customer service and food!

Ordered sweet and sour chicken balls and didn't receive any sweet and sour sauce, no prawn crackers and took over an hour to arrive. Very poor

Pretty rough, had a chicken chow mein to try them out and had both a bit of fatty skin and chunk of cartilage/bone in it. Wont be back unfortunately.

Food quality is inconsistent, pricey and not as good as local competitors. Charged for items I did not receive. Upon calling to request my items I was refused. However, I would have decided to continue using if I had received a better service after their mistake.

First time using this Chinese, fantastic every dish!

Ordered a takeaway it took 1.5 hr to arrive , once the food arrived it was STONE COLD with some of the order missing . I rang and complained to which the guy just said ‘eeeerr sorry’ after kicking up a fuss they sent out the order again but by this time it was way past 10pm and I didn’t even feel like the food. Would never order from here again ! We’ve ordered a takeaway from rothwell before , a good 15/20 mins away from me and it still manages to be piping hot when it gets here and they can get a order correct. It’s a takeaway surely it shouldn’t be this hard to get a order right / have hot food.View less

Ordered a veggie dish only to find meat inside , I certainly won't be ordering food ever again from here .

Very tiny portions same price as there competition.Poor value for money. Kings are much better & quick service.

Food not bad but service terrible. Repeatedly given the wrong order. Maybe the guy taking the orders should take his hat off so he can hear, and then try looking interested!

Great Chinese, good menu choices, reasonably priced and prompt delivery.

Quite possibly the best Chinese I have ever eaten! Staff are friendly and the service is what it should be! We order take out from them regularly and the dishes are always delicious and consistent.

Honestly can say it has been my favourite place to eat from for a long time,most of the time they are quick and food is always hot

great service, fast delivery, and the BEST chinese I have ever had.

I called them up just to see if they were open yet, and despite being obviously busy the woman who answered the phone was friendly and polite. When I popped round there, I realised I had no cash on me so I asked if they took cards - they don't but they pointed me towards Budgens who have a free cash machine in the shop, a few doors down. As I left they asked to take my order to cut my waiting time. My order was ready when I returned a few minutes later. If I had to criticise I'd say the portion was a little smaller than what I'm used to.

My family and I have ordered food from this takeaway on at least 50 occasions and although the food is usually good the despicable service has completely let them down tonight. When one particular person answers the phone to take your order, three times now it has been missing a meal. I called to report this yet again tonight and was told that the item they missed would be an hour, fair enough, I'd already paid for it so i was prepared to wait. Despite the minor inconvenience I was prepared to let this go. Until the delivery arrived and the bag was thrust at my mother and not a word said, no hello or apology and she stormed away and the bag had clearly been unwrapped so we did not eat it as we couldn't be sure it was in a fit state to eat. I called to complain about her attitude and was told they had no control over the behaviour of the drivers, their employees. This was followed by a call from the delivery driver himself from a private number - the girl at the takeaway had given him my details! He wanted to tell me clearly I had gotten the order wrong and this was all my mistake. His attitude was a disgrace and between them they have thoroughly ruined what would have a been a good review as I now can't trust them with food, service etc. We have brought a lot of business to Hong Kong Cuisine and this is the end of it, never again. There are several other great takeaways in Kettering who would be pleased to have your business. Don't eat here!
