Simply amazing! Service is great, food is delicious and the price is really good. If you are around, this restaurant is a must. Food looked and smelled so good that I forgot to take a proper picture lol Try the stroganof, it is awesome!

Warmly welcomed. Friendly and attentive staff. We both had filets. Excellent all around.

Twelve ladies of a certain age get together to have lunch. There are coeliacs, vegetarians, gotta-be-gluten-free, lactose intolerant and just plain picky. We meet several times a year and The Hollybank always manages to accomodate the various special requirements. Last week was very special for me as the soup of the day was Pea and Ham, which is always a treat and not to be missed, also on the specials board was Chicken and Leek pie. Home made flaky pastry covering tender chicken pieces with leek, wrapped in a fabulous sauce, (hints of rosemary?) it matters not; it was sensational, so much so that I had to forego my Meringue Surprise which is very much a high days and holidays treat. Honestly I have exhausted all the superlatives that one would normally apply to David, Sean and Michael. They are, quite simply a remarkable team, complemented by cheerful, smiling waitresses (so rare nowadays), and don't get me started on the merlot.

Have been coming for dinner here with family and friends occasionally for a while and every time the food has been great and the service has been amazing but in particular Nyree. She always has a smile on her face no matter how busy and keeps customers well looked after, thank you so much 🤩

Been coming here for 30 years since a wee boy. Proper wee family restaurant doing all The classics very well. Excellent friendly service. The chilli nachos to start are huge and amazing. The steak pie is to die for. Can’t beat it here for nice home made food.

Went for family meal ,was superb as always

Grest food, lovely staff, good value. Venue is a bit tired and worn out looking though, could do with new tables for a start...all scratchy, not a good look.

Have always enjoyed visiting the hollybank and always visit when I'm in Stirling as the good is lovely and staff are friendly and welcoming.

I hadnt been for many years, and the food was as good as I can remember it. Lovely meal, great value for money - we were there in a group and the service was excellent.

Great service from staff and excellent food.

Visited today and was disappointed to say the least. Table booked for 4 adults and 3 kids. The gentleman who served us made us feel uncomfortable. My 3 year old being a 3 year old was leaving the table and running up and down. Not being noisy or misbehaving. Not going near anyone just running about. The man who I think might be the manager couldn't have made it any more obvious it was annoying him. Even though my little one was not bothering anyone else. I was told he was shaking his head and just looked like we were annoying him. We all felt the same. He actually came over and told us to turn my kids ipad down. Even though we were nowhere near anyone else. And it wasn't even up loud. I am sorry but if he didn't want kids there like it felt he didn't he should have said when I booked over the phone and asked for a highchair. Nice little place. Menu was really good and the food was lovely. We all agreed. Just thought the gentleman was off with us from the get go. We all agreed that as well. Won't be back due to the man's attitude to the kids.

Another great meal.From start to finish very enjoyable the Wallace burger great and the double nougat a trip back to the days of the ice cream van.Well worth a visit.

The people were super friendly, so I'd say: extraordinary great service. And the food was delicious. I had the fillet steak and would highly recommend it. In general there are lots of great options on the menu, it was so hard to decide. Also, we were there on a Friday evening around 18:30 and it wasn't too crowded. Later on more people came to eat, but from my impression there still seemed to be much room. Also I really liked the ambiente, it was kind of rustic. There is a parking lot right next to the restaurant, so no need to worry about parking ;)

Staff member was awful. Been going to this place for decades. The place has lost the plot and I will never be back.

HollyBank - A Hidden Gem HollyBank was a delightful surprise! The service was impeccable; the staff were friendly and attentive, making us feel truly welcome. The food was an absolute standout. Every dish was freshly prepared and bursting with flavor. It was clear that everything was homemade, a rare find these days. We were impressed by how quickly our food arrived. Overall, a fantastic dining experience. Highly recommend!

Sunday night we stopped off for drinks in the beer garden as the sun was out , staff really friendly , went back on Monday night for a bite to eat , again staff really friendly, we opted for burgers and both were lush, worth stop for drink and food if you in the area

Fabulous Old School menu I opted for the chilli with cheese and rice it was delicious and I am fussy !! Hubby opted for good old fish and chips in breadcrumbs and there was nothing left on the plate, so…. Service was great and staff went out of their way to get us a taxi to take us to the concert we were heading to. Little gem of a place !

Early Monday family dinner,food was ok but service excelled itself,waitress was exceptional great with the kids and couldn’t do enough very friendly and professional would definitely be back

Delicious food (Steak Pie and Wallace Burger with nicely cooked sides), friendly service, spacious dining rooms.

Feel like this must be more of a lunch spot because it was deserted when I went for dinner, but the steak and ale pie was incredible nonetheless. I wanted to lick the plate. Bonus: it's a quick walk from the King Robert Hotel down the road.

It's been a couple of years since I dined there, didn't return because of the hygiene! But on dog walks I would pop in for a pint, always too be greeted by the manager/owner with a face of " what do you want". Tonight he excelled himself, with more disapproval, and refusing to serve a pint at 6 55pm because of tomorrow's service!!!!!!! Avoid at all cost! He doesn't deserve your money!

I have not been to The Hollybank for years. It still has the same decor and layout, which was nice in a quirky way. Family visited this afternoon (16 June 2024.) Still recognise some of the long-standing staff with the usual good service. Food was good as ever, and it was nice to see the owner/manager helping out by taking orders and serving/clearing plates. Would recommend and go back.

Meals so nice(curry,fajitas,belly pork and chicken skewers) we went back the next day..mince,curry and 2 amazing steak pies followed by Eton mess, new York cheesecake and snowball sundae with vegan icecream. Shame we on holiday and dont live local. The owner was a lovely man and went out of his way with great customer service

Excellent value for money, friendly atmosphere. Never felt rushed to free up table. Accommodated our table of 17 including 5 children with ease. Celebrating a 90th birthday & staff went out of their way to ensure everything was in place including cutting the cake and providing boxes for everyone to take a piece home. Thoroughly recommend, our go to place for family get togethers

Service was a little bit slow but the staff were really pleasant and friendly. The food was very good especially the desserts. Everything including the drinks were reasonably priced. Will definitely be back.

Definitely went downhill from previous visits, staff were friendly and attentive although once we got served just after 7pm, we're told we close at 8. Macaroni was average but fajitas were excellent. We were sat near a couple of "ladies" whose language would make the hardest of sailors blush. Maybe better visiting at busier weekend times rather than during the week.

Been many years since I visited the Hollybank. Decor the same, Great selection of drinks and big menu of foods. Food good quality and tasty. Service and staff was 1st class.

We visited for lunch. This place has unreal home made pub grub, anyone I know who has been raves about the steak pie, and I am now one of them. From the moment we walked through the door we felt welcome, the service was top class. It has a warm cosy atmosphere and was very relaxing. Thanks to all the staff for a lovely lunch 👍👏

The food was average, nothing to blow you away but will fill a hole. The male working who I assume is the manager was very rude, seemed very uninterested in his customers. Lack of effort and no care or attention from him, especially when going to settle the bill. Completely ignored us verbally, only to have the card machine presented with the total, which was excessive for 2 items off the "light bites" menu.

Food ok but premises need redecoration

Went for a bar lunch with my husband. It was 1st time in ages since we had been there. Food, atmosphere was amazing. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended

Had lunch on Sunday with family and some old friends From the moment we arrived greeted at door by a gentleman with a welcoming smile. And a friendly hello from all the staff. It was the start to a perfect visit. Food. drinks. service.. all you would expect. Thank you Hollybank for making our lunch so special. Just Perfect.

Staff here are always very pleasant and helpful. The food is and has been consistently very good over the many years I've visited. Today I ordered the ham salad and the portion of actual salad was Very poor and more of a side salad portion which was very disappointing. I won't let it put me off just won't order salad again .

The fish & chips weren’t homemade and seemed to be from a frozen package, so were tasteless. The dessert was reasonably good.

Great little restaurant. The waiter was extremely friendly, clever, and witty, with good knowledge of the menu. As this was one of the first places in which we ate in Scotland and are used to dining later, we accidentally overstayed our welcome and kept the staff from closing. Despite this, all staff were very friendly. The food was great - I had the Wallace burger topped with haggis. This was my first experience with haggis and it was very good! Highly recommend checking this place out when visiting the city.

The food was disappointing. Carrots and potatoes soggy over cooked.

The food is usually good here but the service wasn’t as good the steak was ordered medium to well done and we ordered 4 portions of potato cuts instead of chips. All came with chips but swapped over and the steaks were all well done and had been checked with slits on steak but still served. Will definitely come back and hope service was only a blip on this occasion

Saturday evening, hadn't booked but managed a table for 3 ,made it just in time before no tables left,service was excellent and food was of a similar pattern, no real wait,staff were attentive but not in your face,food was excellent even the harshest critic "my mother" asked for a takeaway for next days meal. We all enjoyed our meal ,I had French onion soup first time in years absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend a visit and with dog 🐕 friendly area in bar your best pal can come along.

29 of us visited for my parents 60th wedding anniversary. Food was good and reasonably priced. Fantastic service from Nyree and the rest of the team.

My partner and I went here for lunch yesterday. The food was served quickly, was hot and tasted great. The service was excellent, and staff very polite and friendly. We will definitely go back. Both chicken and beef fajitas were excellent

My son and family attended for his Birthday. I will start by saying that the macaroni cheese was off. It was, no doubt, as it smelled of blue cheese. 4 meals needed returned due to it. We let the manager know and he begrudgingly agreed to swap the meals. The manager tried to take replacement meal order. My partner commented to me on the way she was being spoken to by the manager as he felt no one on the table was speaking to him directly during the ordering process. The manager was rude and easily offended. My partner turned away from him in conversation to assist my baby daughter who was crying because we removed her plate of food which was tasting unpleasant and off and he stormed off and no longer waited on the table in frustration. As he and one other waitress were all there was working it made the service to our table slow/halt. No drinks were provided and my brother in law and 2 kids didn't get a meal. When it came to paying the manager insisted the kids meals were paid for even though they were not eaten and he argued otherwise but as he refused to attend the table he didn't help clear it and would have seen that the 2 kids mac n cheese was not eaten either. The manager was rude and aggressive towards my 73 Yr old mother in law and sparked anger in my partner who then proceeded to have a very heated argument with the manager about how he speaks to people, about the mac and cheese which he decided was not off and continued to serve to other guests and about the payment. The manager said his feelings were hurt by the lack of eye contact during the ordering process and that my partner assisting my daughter was rude to turn from him. He then admitted he was not coming to our table for the same reason. Eventually the payment was discussed and sorted by my sister in law. The point of all this is that at no point was this manager even pleased to have our custom. He was rude to other parties including an elderly disabled woman who he basically dismissed in conversation. He didn't like my partner from the off. They continued to serve food we told them was off which is absolutely shocking especially as on of our party is a chef and agreed with us. For 2 days after that trip all who sampled the mac n cheese were getting stomach cramps n loose stools. We attempted to reach out to the owner who proceeded to tell us we were wrong and he had nothing to say to us and that he will be glad when he no longer runs the restaurant. Well done David. The worst thing is we have been eating here for years and to be treated like this is disgusting. The fact all negative comments mentions mac n cheese and how things used to be better explains alot. Clearly someone has lost interest to the point their food hygiene standards have dropped.

First meal out in a while. The service was excellent and the staff were lovely and attentive but not overly so. The meal itself was delicious and I look forward to eating there again soon. 10/10

Disappointed I'm afraid. Overcooked veg and below par chicken balmoral

Had a meal with a party of 12 (family gathering) including 4 kids ranging from 2-5. Arrived and there was already a long table set up for our booking, high chairs were provided quickly and the staff were efficient and pleasant. Menu had a good range of options, food was of great quality and generous quantity. Staff made the effort to engage with the children and ensured they were provided for first - allowing for less likelihood of meltdowns. No complaints and would happily visit again.

Such an underrated place which deserves recognition. Stopped by on the fly after a long day of travelling. Glad we found this place. Sadly not very busy, maybe a few other tourist's who had found the place but the food and service was impeccable. Closed at 20:00h A* for the Haggis balls! Would definitely go and support again!
