I work regularly in waterloo and always pay the hole in the wall a visit, lovely friendly pub and staff very nice 👍👍👍

A great find in the arches outside Waterloo. A great dive pub which ends up being much larger than it looks. An excellent selection of beer. Service wasn't that great though, guy more interested in his phone.

Front bar smells a bit but the arch is great. Always a good atmosphere and excellent range of beers

Cosy little pub, ideal meeting place for a drink

Myself and my work team chose here for our Xmas do. 3 course festive menu. We had a group of 16 people, all having various things from their menu and everyone said their food was incredible. The service was amazing. I'm so glad we went there. They looked after us so well. Thank you

A really good range of beers and good service.

Been coming here on and off for years. The barman with the long beard is a bully and is off putting to visitors. Watched him berate staff tonight and create an uncomfortable atmosphere. His behaviour toward female staff was worrying. As per other reviews he's the main reason not to visit. Truly spoiled (and shortened) our visit.

Witnessed a male colleague bully a young female colleague whilst having a pint here tonight. Young member of staff busy collecting glasses not to the liking of this person. Shouts at her across the bar, belittling her and causing significant embarrassment. She collects her jacket and leaves. The member of staff you are employing is a bully and the younger team are clearly in fear of him. The bully - White male, 6ft. Beard. Slim. AA. 30. Large ear stretch ear rings. Blue top. Won’t be returning to drink in such a toxic atmosphere.

This pub has great character. I love it when a train rumbles overhead. The whole place shakes. They also have a good selection of ales.

Este es un gran bar con grandes cervezas , hay TV's para deportes y el personal es acogedor , hay una zona para fumadores en una pequeña zona ajardinada y sus 2 minutos para la estación principal de Waterloo , los precios también son mucho mejores que los puntos de venta en la estación , uno creo que diría es los baños podrían hacer con un poco de lejía y una buena limpieza .

Very transient crowd as its steps away from Waterloo Station. Heaps of beers (20?), staff knew them all and described the taste and were happy to let you try them all. 😆

Unfortunately, the manager decided that our custom was not wanted (7 of us). Even though we were quiet and enjoying a drink without issue in an otherwise empty pub. On top his attitude was aggressive and unnecessary. Thanks for your reply but I think we both know that wasn’t quite how it happened! Nice try though 👍🏼

My friends and I were looking for a pub today and stumbled across this place. We went outside to scope out the seating in the garden and were met with hostility and intense stares. A table of people turned round to us and stated that this was a ‘Pro-Israel pub’ after seeing our kufiyas. We felt incredibly uncomfortable so decided to leave. After seeing someone trip advisor reviews, we’re glad we didn’t stay

This is a real British pub with an interesting concept. It is under the train bridge and you can hear trains passing regularly. It is very close to Waterloo station. Smell was a bit unpleasant but I guess that’s the way it is.

A classic pub feel for the locals, nice selection and nice barmen

Proper boozer of a type that is now less commonplace, in a quirky location under the Waterloo railway arches. Very well stocked bar, easy-going vibe, and reasonable prices. It's not a gentrified gastro-pubbe (though the food isn't bad) It's a proper honest decent boozer. It's not a tourist attraction (though visitors are welcome). It's a proper honest decent boozer.

Gem of a pub so close to Waterloo. Just popped in for a quick pint before catching the train and had to stay for two as the beer was sooo good! They always have at least 4 hand pulled real ales plus today there were 3 hand pulled ciders. Lovely staff and did I say the beer was great ?

The atmosphere is much nicer than I remember pre-covid. Tempted to make this a more regular visit.

Oh dear ordered a pint. It was flat! Took it back told all the beers were flat . Been drinking quality beer for 50 years. Even Weatherspoons will replace a flat pint!

Nice cheap pub close to Waterloo

Superb experience from Ashleg and Deborah - good tunes and a lovely little vino or seven made this a tip-top night! Excellent musical choices too.

5 star service from Ashley and Deborah, they and Abba really brought the exquisite 70s vibes. Immaculate 10/10. #Sundaynightfun. Sunday the new Saturday.

Finally a good Guinness in London

Great, quick service here, cheap beer and a great environment for an end of day beer. Very warm in summer but it's a top spot in walking distance to Waterloo.

Most disappointing pub in London..don’t even bother to come here they won’t serve ya drink because I accidentally fall of the chair and they accused me of spilling drinks even though I haven’t even ordered one and then 17 years old member of staff told me I can’t order drinks . Fair enough I have more money to spend in another pub there they have more respect for customers. Your lost not mine ! Maybe you should employ better staff

Shocking boozer. Inconsistent bouncers like you wouldn't believe and a Youth Training Scheme manager who doesn't appear to have a clue about running a pub. Shame as it has the potential to be a fairly nice pub. Maybe I caught them on a bad day but I wouldn't come back

I must have walked past this place dozens of times without realising it was a pub. Large range of beers to choose from here, at reasonable prices for the area. When compared to that gigantic theme park "pub" inside Waterloo station, this place is far superior.

A nice little find, a short walk from Waterloo Station. Decent quality cask ales, and a selection of craft beers and better quality lagers. Only popped in for a quick pint, but would happily return next time I find myself in this part of the world.

A nice little pub. Perfect location, just across from Waterloo Station. Prices are reasonable. Clean. They have an outdoor area in the back where you can bring your drinks and have a cigarette if you want. They have heat lamps that turn on when it's cold. Friendly staff.

Refreshingly different to all the pubs nearby. A special mention to Amy, attentive barmaid. Very welcoming.

What a great find. I needed to kill some time in London Waterloo and rather than sitting in a chain outlet in the station I went for a wander. As a firm believer in never walking past a pub to find another one the HITW was the first place I came to-right outside the station entrance. A proper pub. Excellent selections of great beers and ciders very good music selection playing at the right volume-you can hear it and still hold a conversation. Every time passing through Waterloo I shall now come here for a pint (or two).

Very rude barmaid the bar. As we were waiting to order at the bar there was a bit of a queue. My friend had to get a train back so he casually mentioned to me he didn’t want to wait too long to be served. The barmaid overheard him, she then rudely butted in on our conversation and aggressively confronted us as if we were blaming her and she said there was another bar, which we were unaware of as it was our first time there. My friend then apologised for the misunderstanding but she then proceeded to snap at him and say “you better be” which then caused a massive argument that involved her calling my friend an “ugly c*nt” in front of a load of other guests. Nasty and abusive service (saying that as someone who has worked in hospitality). You can’t take out your anger on guests like that.

If the staff members here are having a bad day, they should NOT take out their frustrations on their consumers. Walked in their first time around, was not meant to know it was a bigger a establishment and could only judge what i could see. A complete misunderstanding that the staff member overheard, she took way out of context. And rather then handle it professionally, attempting to make civil peace and apologise she threw it back in my face rudely and unprofessionally. And what else did she expect, when she scares of consumers with that toxic attitude? Thee worst service I have ever come across, if anyone has got any sense. They would avoid this rude, unprofessional and disgusting establishment would NOT recommend AT ALL.

Avoid this place at call costs. The bar-lady was extremely rude to my mate as the bar-lady called my mate an ugly (CU next Tuesday). Would rate 0/0 if I could. And i hope the bar-lady loses her job.

Decent beer hall right outside the front of Waterloo train station.

7 old godgers gathered for a bevvy or 2 before setting off for a pre-arranged lunch. We have been to the HITW many times, but this visit was notable for the quality of the Guinness, perfectly poured by the lady behind the bar.

I’ve been to the hole in the wall many times and usually have a fantastic time. I was there again yesterday and was having a wonderful time. The pub got really busy and as I was making my way back from the bathroom one of your staff (short, mid 20s maybe, slim, brown shoulder length hair and glasses) tripped over my foot. I did the typical British thing of “oo I’m sorry, I’m sorry” expecting her to do similar as she was the one who had not been looking where she was going and tripped over me, however, instead she turned around stormed back over to me, got in my face and yelled “maybe you should watch where you’re putting your feet!!” Before storming off. I’ve never had any issue with the staff before. I honestly love coming here but this experience was just pure nasty and seemingly out of nowhere. I know it was busy but I used to work in a pub and I’ve done plenty of shifts when it’s been at least that busy and never once have I thought it appropriate to scream in a customers face the way she did. Really disappointed.

Can’t give a 0. Someone within the bar stole my coat and the bar didn’t really care, an expensive coat taken and very little interest taken by the bar. Disappointing as it’s a really good bar. I’d avoid going there moving forward

🚇 Waterloo 🍺 £4.70 Pravha ❤️ A Waterloo institution, nestled under the arches. . Station pubs can be very hit and miss but now again you come across an absolute blinder. . The Hole In The Wall is situated in a railway arch just below the tracks going in and out of Waterloo Station. This is a two bar pub with a large bar at the back and a smaller bar at the front. I visited on a Saturday lunchtime and decided to plot up in the back bar to watch the Arsenal v Villa game. The pub was busy and there was a great atmosphere and buzz about the place. . This independent pub has an extensive beer choice, I opted for a Pravha which was decent and under a fiver. This is a no cash boozer even though the pubs name suggests otherwise. . The decor here is traditional and mixed, the back bar has a bit of a working man’s club feel to it which I love, no frills and an excellent social space. The front bar is a little bit more elegant with proper copper tables, plenty of wood panelling and a more relaxed feel. There is a small beer garden at the rear which has a TV so you don’t miss any of a game if you pop out for a salmon. . As I sat in this pub with the rumble of trains above my head, I couldn’t help but admire this place. This is a station boozer but the majority of punters here weren’t waiting for the 5.45pm train to New Malden, they were here for the beer. During the week this pub is also a firm favourite for post work pre commute beers. . A cracking wee pub right across the road from Waterloo Station Be prepared it's a busy bar with a great atmosphere with some great background tunes

Does serve food. Very good prices. The last of a dying breed of pub. Great jukebox unique staff and a great set of punters.

Been coming here off and on for the last 40 years, when back in the day, real ale was the exception rather than the rule. A lovely, unpretentious boozer refreshingly unmodernised. Friendly staff, the beer is always well kept and the prices reasonable for central London. If real ale is your thing and you prefer a proper pub to the pretentious joints in the area, you won't go far wrong.

As station pubs go this is a decent one, with a good selection of ale and craft, football on the telly and Scampi Fries (and Cheese Moments) available at the bar

Stopped in for a late drink before closing time. Really good selection of beers and ales. Jukebox. Crowd had thinned out a bit, but nice pub.

We did a happy hour here and great atmosphere to be hanging out with friends and coworkers.

What a shame , a great little bar tucked away by Waterloo station . I’ve been coming here for years , but the service has absolutely nosedived. It’s service with a grudge. I stood in the little bar at the front waiting to be served, the male server was clearly unhappy I didn’t walk into the other room to be served , it was 2.55 on a Saturday and he was unhappy as he has to close down the bar for 5.00pm - welcome to the hole in the wall. If you don’t serve in that bar - put a sign up. Lots of people walked in , waited and left. He had time to retire to the kitchen to chat and play on his phone. Really sad to write a review like this because it should be a welcoming and hidden gem

It's one of those pubs which freeze their clients by keeping the doors open for cross breeze when it's +2 outside.

This was my first visit to this pub and I'm so pleased I finally went. A proper pub, reasonable prices, not too loud so we could all hear each other. Just what a London pub used to/should be. Only reason I haven't given it an 'excellent' rating is the bar staff were a bit miserable.
