Jalisco Brixton in Lambeth

Way overpriced, rude waiting staff, had to sit in a cold hallway with people constantly passing, burritos aren’t wrapped properly so the last bit disintegrates all over yours hands and plate. Not going back. Two stars cos the nachos weren’t bad!

I hosted my birthday at the Loughborough Junction venue for 40 guests. It was amazing! The space was fantastic and we had trays of tacos and incredible service at our private bar - lots of spicy passion fruit margaritas. My friend also DJ’d and got linked up to the main decs/speakers at venue. Wilson and his wife were extremely helpful and accommodating and it was the most brilliant night. Would defos recommend hosting an event here.

Never had a problem here, good food

The service wasn’t bad, but the food… We ordered enchiladas (spicy)… they were too salty even for me as a Mexican who is always putting salt in everything. Not much cheese and the sauce wasn’t fresh made. The Passion Fruit margarita was ok but didn’t have much tequila in it. Not thinking of coming back.

The nachos were flavoursome and good portion, but when we got to the bottom there was lots of liquid. Plantain and cheese tasty. The food came out quickly with friendly service!! 😄

Delicious pulled pork burrito and quesadillas with the right amount of spice! Super friendly staff and located in the heart of brixton!

Massive burrito was enormous, about twice the size of the average one. No room for dessert! Tamarind margaritas tasty, though the happy hour discount is not huge.

I love going to Jalisco because the staff are so friendly, always with a smile on their face. We went for dinner and had the “make your own” tacos with chicken and carne mechada, nachos and some margaritas. The meat was a bit bland in flavour but you had plenty of condiments to make it to your taste. The margaritas are overpriced in my opinion as they don’t have much alcohol in them, but the fruit flavours were delicious.

We had tacos to share and a pitcher of beer. It was great!

Great Food, great place, the best mexican you will find in Brixton

The food was very very good. Excellent preparation. I have been wanting to try this place for some time. It is authentic Mexican cuisine in the heart of Brixton. We shared the three taco plate and a pitcher of Paloma. The drink was tasty, but seemed lacking on booze - that seems like a UK thing though.

Food was cooked to perfection, drinks were tasty and we had a nice little table outside too! We ordered - 🥑 Nachos 🍗 Spicy Chicken wings 🌮 Pollo tinga tacos 🫑 Vegetable Quesadilla 🍹 2 Margaritas

Very friendly staff and good value-price ratio. Will be coming back.

Sadly I wouldn't recommend Jalisco. I was really excited to have some authentic Latin American food but it was really bland! I ordered a burrito and it was definitely missing some of the toppings, such as guacamole (it was basically just rice, beans and meat).

The food was alright and the customer service too. There were however a few options on the menu which were not available on the day. When booking using The Fork the take away option is not available.

We were the only table not greeted with water and napkins. The food was not restaurant worthy. The price was okay but the portions were small. The Lighting was not atmospheric at all but the music was good. The staff were friendly. My hibiscus margarita was rimmed with sugar and not salt and was far too sweet. This restaurant has a lot of potential, but a lot of key things were just missing.

I love the food here and the margaritas! Also used Jalisco to cater a private party. They have many catering options to suit taco trays with nachos or can even arrange for their own taco man! and they were able to cater for all dietary requirements (veggie/vegan and gluten free). They delivered the taco trays perfectly on time. Such an easy and hassle free way to order food!! Really can’t recommend enough

My absolute favourite. We order at least once a month for years and it never dissapoints. A lovely family run business with great tasting food. Quesadilla and Burito Massive is our favourite. Highly recommend!

THE FOOD WAS COLD, FLAVORLESS AND THE SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE! We were expecting authentic Mexican food and not tasteless canned food. The tacos were full of water from the salad, the tortilla fell apart and the meat had no flavor, totally inedible. Small portions for the value. They served us cold food, tasteless rice not 'fluffy' at all as described in the menu, the avocado was rotten, the beans had no taste of anything and the pico de gallo was only 3 pieces of tomato. The lemonade tasted like only water with half a poorly squeezed lemon. A very bad experience since the service was terrible. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE! @Jalisco Team/ Do not bother responding to this review as I won't be eating here ever again. To the owners: Such a shame the owners work hard to build this brand. Your careless workers are ruining the reputation of this place. If you're charging those prices make sure you're providing good food and value for money. Hire more competent people and check the quality of the food before putting in the table. Please respect the Latin American culture and serve decent food.

I have gone with my family to eat and sorry I ⚠️DO NOT⚠️ recommend this place. Just to let you know the don’t have a toilet. Upon arrival we had to wait more than 15 minutes for our orders to be taken, even having to enter to ask them that we want to order even when the restaurant was empty. Second, once the food arrived it was not good, the rice was for the microwave, the beans tasted expired dated and the egg had pieces of shells. Apart from this, when we went to pay, I told the waiter who served me to please put the rest of the food that we had left over to take away and they started laughing and also asked me to bring it from the table. Now to finish I tell him that I want to pay by card and he doesn't even show me the total bill for my table and charges me directly from my card. For this reason, I was forced to ask him to print the receipt and I see that they has charged me for a service charge when during the entire stay eating there we had to be going inside the restaurant to ask him for water, napkins, and other necessities that one has when eating in a restaurant. Anyway, a friend recommended this site to me and because of her I didn't say anything about removing the service charge or that they don't have customer service skills. In short, we spent £60 for two people, we didn't eat well and on top of that we left with negative energies from there. What a shame such a promising business is run by people who have no love for their work and laugh at their customers. Everyone deserves respect and dignity regardless of how much money they spend at a restaurant or whether they order leftovers to go. Shame on the lady who was in the till to laugh at others. ⚠️⚠️Spanish⚠️⚠️ He ido con mi familia a comer y sintiéndolo mucho NO recomiendo este lugar. Para que lo sepáis no tienen baños. Al llegar tuvimos que esperar más de 15 minutos para que nos tomaran los pedidos, incluso teniendo que entrar para pedirle por favor que queremos pedir, estando incluso el restaurante vacío. Segundo una vez llegó la comida no estaba buena, el arroz era de microondas, los frijoles sabían gastados y el huevo tenia trozos de cáscaras. Aparte de esto cuando fuimos a pagar le dije al camarero que me atendió que por favor me ponga para llevar el resto de comida que nos sobró y empezaron a reírse y además me pide que se lo traiga yo de la mesa. Ya para finalizar le digo que quiero pagar con tarjeta y ni me enseña la cuenta total de mi mesa y me cobra directamente de mi tarjeta. Por lo que me vi forzada a pedirle que me imprima el comprobante y veo que me ha cobrado service charge cuando durante toda la estancia comiendo allí tuvimos que estar entrando dentro del restaurante a pedirle agua, servilletas, y demás necesidades que se tienen cuando comes en un restaurante. En fin me recomendó este sitio una amiga y por ella no les dije nada de quitarme el service charge o de que no tienen habilidades de atención al cliente. En resumen nos gastamos £60 libras dos personas, no comimos bien y encima salimos con energías negativas de allí. Que pena un negocio tan prometedor sea llevado por personas que no tienen amor por su trabajo y encima se ríen de sus clientes. Todos el mundo se merece respeto y dignidad independientemente del dinero que gaste en un restaurante o de si pide para llevar lo que le sobró. Vergüenza le tendría que dar a la señora que estaba en la caja de reírse de los demás que encima gasta dinero allí.

This place has gone downhill. It used to be my favourite burrito ever but they are definitely cutting corners. I ordered a burrito and it came with no cheese, sour cream or guacamole. It’s such a shame, please revert back to old recipes!

Would not recommend this place at all. I went on a girls weekend to London from Plymouth and we had booked a table in Lost in Brixton to have some drinks and food and we paid for some drinks and they come but when it come to ordering food, I placed my order, had proof of purchase (receipt) and the money was taken from my bank account but never received the food. My two friends who were with me received their food and after an hour of not having mine I had chased it twice but never got an update so at the end of hour table reservation we spoke to the “runner” of the restaurant to see if I could get a refund since I never received my food and our table reservation was over. He took us to the restaurant to try sort it out but the people working were dismissive and said they didn’t have a ticket on their end despite the runner showing them my receipt and explaining the situation. The people working that day phoned the owner but told me they are too busy as it’s the weekend and would contact me tomorrow. They never contacted me so I phoned them and again they said they were too busy to deal with this and refund me so they took my money but never provided the service. Would never go back again as i do not want more money being taken from me

I love this place, and the food is usually really good but the nachos came with Guacamole out of a packet rather than homemade. I would have expected fresh guacamole from a Mexican place. I ended up leaving disappointed. The margaritas were great though !

Some food came wrong, sent back, and came wrong for second time, so one of us had to wait and then eat something we didnt want. Wings were cold, they said its late and its whats left (so they served us with leftovers). We sent them back, but still they came in the bill and had to pay for them. Will not go back there

Tacos taste great (F***ing hot is the way to go otherwise it's okay) but I don't understand why service charge isn't optional especially when we're using the app to order, and being asked to tip before receiving any food or service.

Fish tacos were a bit boring. No lime at all. Hardly any coriander (which is what makes it!) Just fried fish with lettuce, chopped tomatoes and jarred jalapeños. Meh.

Fantastic place to go for lunch. I had the quesadillas which were fabulous but found myself envious of people's burritos (which only come in large or MASSIVE, which is a very correct way to do things)

I love this part of Brixton and I really enjoyed the food at Jalisco. It was really tasty and well presented. But the best thing about the visit for me was the lovely Venezuelan mother and daughter who work there. They were friendly and gave the place a happy vibe. A genuine smile goes a long way. 5 stars for the ladies.😁⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ordered a burrito via deliveroo. No rice, no beans, no cheese, no guac, just soggy vegetables and lettuce in a wrap. The side of guac I got wasn’t fresh, tasted like it was from a jar & way too salty. We got chips too and these were stale and cold. Disappointing all round and would definitely not recommend.

Really sad to see this venue with such a low rating, as the food and people working there are so nice. It is a very much causal dining experience, with food being tasty and good size at a fair price. But when we went it was fairly busy so hoping it's Google msps rating isn't hurting it too much.

Used to be a great place, what happened? Came in to have a couple of margaritas, only to be greeted by a moody waitress sitting in the corner of the restaurant annoyed that we came in. She took a long moment to get up off the chair and brought over tap water and two plastic cups! PLASTIC CUPS?! We ordered a couple of margaritas which she didn’t proceed to make. After 5 minute of sitting there, we decided to leave. It’s not as if the place was busy, there were only two other customers there who by the looks of it also got bored of waiting. I’m never coming back, such an unpleasant experience. I won’t be surprised if this place closes soon if this is the attitude they have.

Considering majority of food options in the market are exceptional, this place was very average. The female waitress was quite rude, Nd our food options tasteless won't be going back.

I do not get any enjoyment out of leaving bad reviews but I need to spread the word about our experience so it doesn't happen to anyone else. I went to this place with four family members for some tapas and beers. (The place was empty so we should have known better.) We ordered a few different apps, one of which was the ceviche. It arrived and the shrimp was cooked which we found odd, then as we ate one or two, we noticed that they didn't taste right. We called our waiter and asked when the ceviche was made. He didn't know, so he went to the back to ask. When he returned, he told us it was made 4 days ago. 4 DAYS! We were actually at a loss for words. After expressing our displeasure, the waiter returned with another ceviche. We asked what was different about this one and his reply was "it was made 2 days ago". Again, we didn't know what to say. I can not recommend anyone go to this place for food. The beer was fresh and cold but other than that, diner beware!

The breakfast burrito on the menu is listed as Hashbrown, Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Guacamole, and Hot Sauce. My breakfast burrito did not have guac or hot sauce. It did however have cheese, which it hasnt any other time ive ordered it. Im allergic to dairy so no better way to start the day than having to make yourself throw up I’ve let a few small things slide prior to this but thats the last time i go

Food was similar to DF Tacos, staff was nice. The deal breaker, however, was being charged for another table by mistake, over twice what we ordered, and not getting refunded, in spite of visiting the restaurant again to amend this. Hence the amount spent was ~£45 per person :)

Ordered a quesadilla on Uber Eats and the order was missing sour cream and guacamole! I called the restaurant to ask if they would be able to send the missing components. The server tells me he will ask his boss and keeps me on hold for 10 minutes. He then says he is very busy and his boss will call me back. SUCH POOR SERVICE! I’m only asking a simple question which they thought would be best to just avoid instead of saying a simple no. Used to love this place but will not be ordering again.

We ordered the “para compatir” and the ingredients came separately which you need to assemble your own tacos. The taste was so-so, drinks were okay. It’s a bit overpriced for the food quality and service. Also, the staff mis-charged us the bills for the other table and we only knew after we left. They asked us to go back the other day just for the bank details but the refund is still not processed yet after 3 weeks now. A bit of disappointing experience

Me and my girlfriend went here on Thursday evening for drinks. The place itself looks nice and the jug if sangria was tasty, however to my disappointment, one of the staff ruined the entire experience for the both of us. We came in feeling relaxed and happy to have a nice chat, but when being served by a waitress with oddly coloured red trousers, we found her to be quite rude. I’d ask her basic questions like ‘does the happy hour work for the jugs as well’ and she would respond by saying ‘no’ with a disgusting condescending look. She would do this a few times again. Not very pleasant. When we asked to have the service fee taken off, she had the courage to look and act surprised. Incredible. I’d encourage not to go here, as the bar/restaurant need more time to train their staff team on basic customer service skills.

We’d been to Jalisco at Brixton and loved it, and the new branch near LB is just as amazing!! Delicious food and cocktails, and wonderful staff!! Kenny (our waiter) was brilliant - attentive and absolutely lovely!! Would give it 10* if I could!! Will definitely be back!!

food is ok, tasty but not the best. However, the service is far worse. Home to the rudest waitress in London. I am always very respectful of staff, I understand it is a tough job and I used to be one, so I do understand the difficulties and I can forgive most things. But in this place the food took over an hour and the drinks didn't come at all, this is something I would forgive in general. But I went to look for the waitress to ask for the drinks, I was completely ignored by her, a very strange experience. I spoke to another waitress who did apologise and said she would get it sorted. The food did come soon after that, the drinks did not. When the other waitress came to give the bill, there was no eye contact, no conversation or apology.

Phenomenal place with divine food and immensely friendly service. My friend and I went for Happy Hour and their Margaritas were out of this world. Would absolutely recommend this restaurant if you're ever wondering in Brixton.

Were so happy we discovered this place. They serve the best churros (best churros I ever had). Their burritos tasted really authentic. We love everything we ordered. Big portions and great value for money.

Really liked the vibe of this restaurant and Brixton village in general. We were both really impressed with the enchiladas. Prices were fairly average. The service was ‘relaxed’ which was fine until we were presented with a £7 charge! I wouldn’t normally mind but we were given the wrong drinks.

First things first, the food was good. Nothing spectacular but certainly no complaints. I'd recceomend the food. I have given this 3 stars for the following reasons. The person taking our order didn't seem to know what she was doing and we had to keep repeating our order before she understood what we wanted. When we asked how hot the "hot" option was she said its hotter than the option before (which they call spicy). What she should have said was the "spicy" has a sauce and the hot has the sauce and jalapeños. She wasn't helpful in that respect. We ordered fries that didn't turn up but were placed on the bill anyway. Other than that the staff were friendly and the bill was rectified without issue. We didn't get an apology however and but for us checking would have been charged for an item we hadn't received. The sides are pretty expensive imho. We paid just under a tenner for guacamole and some tortillas. 6/10 but I would still recommend.

I once got charged twice for what I ordered, the second time being two weeks after the visit. They haven’t done anything but my credit card company reversed the charge. I thought I would give it another chance but tonight, we waiting 35 minutes for another drink and asked a total of 5 times, twice at the table and physically went inside to ask for two margaritas which shouldn’t be so long as they are pre-made and poured from a plastic bottle. We then de used to leave and the waiter wanted to charge us £35 for two margaritas instead of just under £16! When we complained, the “manager” with the funky eyebrows showed us two fingers up and told us to f off, I filmed him so if any management is interested in the material, happy to provide. I would recommend you stay away from this place as the service is disgusting.

Very nice burrito, I had chicken and hot as level of spice and it was indeed hot. I had a margarita as cocktail. The service was nice and fast, considering it was Friday night. I like the place and the food.

Not sure if under new management, but definitely some things have changed since my last visit. Burritos were good, but drinks were definitely watered down. We asked for a few to be remade and seemed okay. Beer was lukewarm. I felt a bit uneasy to ask for all the drinks to be made again. Really friendly staff, but also very slow service. It used to be one of my to-go places in Brixton for years, not sure if I'll be back now.

The food was good but we were really unhappy with our drinks. First of all, they forgot our drinks, so we got them after we ate our lunch and second, the margaritas we ordered were too expensive for what we got. The margarita for almost 8£ did not taste like tequila at all and we actually weren't sure if there was alcohol in them at all. So the margarita were really disappointing...

Food was good however was disappointed that our £8 margaritas didn’t seem to contain Tequila. After some discussion the server offered us £3 off the bill. Much better places to spend your money in Brixton - it’s an avoid from me 👎

It’s hard to give one star when the food was actually not terrible. But had to wait through starters and halfway through the mains to get the drinks on the table… got a blob of sour cream on my plate after asking explicitly for no sour cream… not great. Cannot recommend.
