The Ho Ho Chinese Restaurant in Oldham

Came here with colleagues first time we’ve been. All the food was cooked to perfection and very tasty and authentic. This is coming from a manc girl who is use to eating in china town. Beautiful decor. Two waitress was polite and friendly.

Mid week meal out. Great food. Very nicely furnished don't think you will find much better anywhere? Manchester centre(perhaps Wings)? Didn't like the constant chime(I assume) indicating dishes ready in kitchen. Food and restaurant top drawer.

Placed an order at 7pm for home delivery. The estimated wait time was supposed to be 45 mins. After an hour and half and still no delivery I called up and was firstly advised it would be another 45 mins! Completely unacceptable. After continued exchange on the telephone a delivery driver was identified and delivered the food 10 minutes later. Very poor service and should have managed my expectations when I placed the order.

Ordered as a takeaway, food was ready n 20 minutes for collection, was lovely and hot, not at all greasy and would definitely try again.

We visited ho ho, myself, pregnant girlfriend and son. We had a little hic up when we arrived there but I can honestly say the food was lovely. We had banquet b and was really nice, the duck was crispy and tasty. The place was spotless which is a big plus. I had a couple of pints of cobra which I enjoyed. Staff was friendly. We will defiantly be going a second time lovely food 👍👍👍

Visited this restaurant about 3 months ago , been back twice since, food excellent, best Chinese outside Manchester in my opinion. Had the banquet and also ordered separate dishes , both equally as good . A little bonus is cobra on draft .

Had a collection takeaway from here last night. Starter mix platter for 2. Salt and pepper chicken wings dry and tasteless. Prawn toast were deep fried in what I can only describe as dirty oil so greasy. Ribs rock solid.. Went in the bin. Main course. Fillet steak with ginger spring onion tasteless. Chicken honey chilli Bone dry. Whole thing went in the bin. Won't be going again. Just deep fried rubbish.

Visited as a table for 6 and the food received was fantastic. Visited numerous times over the last few months for inside and take away. Never been disappointed with the food. Prawn toast, steak rolls amongst my favourite as starters and you cannot go wrong with any of the salt and pepper main courses. The beef chow mein was also a favourite on this visit. The staff are friendly and attentive and the restaurant is very pleasant to dine in.

Really great just awkward to find., nice inside and staff are friendly snd helpful, we ordered a starter and both had main meals and a drink. Might go again another time!

I wouldn't of rated this 1 star, only I had to to leave a review. I visited the restaurant yesterday, it looked beautiful from outside and inside, I should of realised the food must of been bad when there were only 2 people in, I over heard the waitress say to that table do you want to bag your food up, they said no. I ordered ribs, dry and hard, main course fillet Cantonese and fried rice, the rice was like rice pudding and the sauce was awful, i mentioned this to the waitress and it became broken English, I paid the bill and can honestly say, I will never be returning, I eat out a lot and this is the worse food in a while...

Ordered take out. Was very average as not quality I expected. Fillet steak Cantonese had way too much ginger in the sauce and beef and cashew nuts was bland. Even the fried rice lacked any flavour. Curry sauce was creamy and not “Chinese curry sauce” and was awful. Salt and pepper chips were ok and actually had too much seasoning but could at least pick out the bits you wanted. All in all a disappointing and expensive flop of a meal.

Visited tonight with my son , really good looking restaurant,,,,, food quality was A1 , steak rolls nice and spicy , spring rolls were proper good , super crispy duck , chicken chow mein was wolfed down , my spicy beef dish was excellent 👍🏻 Customer Service was professional if a little flat ,,,, 1st visit, will be back with the full family ….. don’t need to drag yourselves to Manchester for a quality Chinese, get to The Ho Ho👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

It is very pricey and things like a portion of beansprouts cost £7.50 but only 79p to buy a pack in the supermarket so the mark up alone is over the top £.3.50 - £3.75 would be a reasonable price to pay for them. My sizzling filet steak was Luke warm and they did take it back to heat it up but my then my sauce had diminished by the time I got it back. My starter was barbecue spareribs which I really did enjoy as they were delicious and I would recommend them and they were cooked to perfection wish I’d had them for my main meal Example Cost for what I had For my started barbecue spare ribs, and for my main fillet, steak in Cantonese sauce, with one portion of beansprouts cost almost £36 But I suppose it depends on what you order my granddaughter had Salts and pepper ribs and they were tough and the noodles were barely warm the crispy duck was a bit dry side and these are the reason for my marking The staff were very nice and helpful and attentive the place is very nice too and when the Weather get better they have plenty out side dining space. The toilets were very nice and clean and they had a disability toilet too. It is still a nice place to dine if you don’t mind paying a bit over the top and more than normal as drinks are not cheap either. They also do takeaway food and deliveries too. It wouldn’t take much to bring it up to a higher rating

I have always been here even from when it was a previous owner. I called tonight to see if they had any tables available he RUDLY told me there taking no reservations there only taking orders for delivery and then hung up on me. So I called back as I was willing to put a delivery in if there were no tables available and I asked why he had hung up and never gave me chance to speak or ask for a delivery and he said "what do you want" I said i think your really rude im wanting to order food and you've just hung up on me he said "bye" and put the phone down again.At this point I was absolutely fuming as I had been so rudly spoken To after willing to spend my money here.I called back and asked to speak to a manager he then replied with " I am the manager" I said well if thats the case I dont know how you run this place you are really rude he just hung up on me again.Never have I had such a place be so rude after being a very loyal customer. Chicken and sweet corn soup, prawn toast, chicken chow mein, chicken in black bean sauce. All incredibly tasty. Never had a bad meal or takeaway. Never.

Spot on takeaway. They are really efficient and the food is amazing. Love the garlic and chilli ribs. The duck spring rolls are excellent too, clearly homemade. Would like free prawn crackers like most places do but apart from that it's perfect. A+++

I have visited twice and will come back again I am sure. The ambience is spacious and airy, a far cry from the claustrophobic red flock wallpaper that was everywhere in my younger days. MThere is a delightful terrace outside which was excellent in Summer, but not on a wet Saturday night in February. Car parking is adequate though the entry/exit gate can be a bottleneck at busy times.Entry is down a short flight of stairs or via a ramp. I have to say that the ramp was short and steep and a little hair-raising on the way in, and hard work on the way out. Don't let that put you off too much. The restaurant is well worth a visit. Book ahead, particularly at weekends when large parties are in evidence.Once inside, the tiled floors are smooth and level. They have no unexpected trip hazards for the less-mobile.Service is friendly, solicitous to a fault, and very patient with ditherers, in my experience. There are both Chinese and Caucasian staff on duty.The food: excellent choice of dishes, beautifully presented, and utterly delicious. This is a top-ranking Chinese restaurant. It compares well with any I have visited, including 'Chinatown' establishments in major cities on both sides of the Atlantic. I think the prices are very reasonable too. Portion size is well-judged: neither too small nor mountainous.The only negative note to the evening was a visit to the toilet. First let me say that cleanliness is certainly not an issue. As is fairly common, I found that I needed help to get through the heavy, springloaded doors leading to the lobby where the toilets are situated. I was using my little tri-walker. The accessible toilet had a hand dryer adjacent to the wash basin rather than on the opposite side of the room. Hooray!It wasn't actually working, though. Boo hoo!As is so often the case, the red emergency pull-cord was looped up and tied to a safety rail. Anyone suffering a fall would have needed long arms to reach up to it, and then would have found that tugging it did no good at all. It's often the cleaners who do this stupid trick, as a floor-length cord interferes with their mopping.I reported it to a waiter, who went off right away to tell the manager. A couple of minutes later a small Chinese lady went past, heading for the toilets. I assume that things have been put in good order now.Was everyone in the party happy? Yes. Would I consider going back? I believe I would.

Visited Friday night with the family, the food was fabulous from starters through to the main course. We all chose different meals and we’re all really pleased with our choices. Definitely worth a visit

OK got home a few hours ago, calmed down a bit now to put up my review .. SIMPLE .. DONT BOTHER ! Went today Sunday 8th od dec 2019 to celebrate our grandsons RAF acceptance ! his choice to try it .. sadly he said sorry all the time we were there ! .. it was bloody freezing we ate in our coats/ covers etc .. table of 11 sat at 2 round tables pushed together .. so no way to chat with others on the "other" table" .. orders taken , saly i have shellfish and nut allergies, was told i could have soup ?? asked if i could have duck ? nope it fried in the same fryer as prawn toast .. and chicken stay ,, i couldnt have ANYTHING fried .. asked for 6 dif things got told no .. asked for fillet steak in garlic , got told ONLY IF I HAVE A SAUCE ?? Finally after 10 mins of total discomfort ! ordered something it ddnt really want .. just because 10 others were waiting ! finally the food arrived , looked good for the others and they enjoyed it .. my main arrived with a "sizzling" hot plate i asked her not to put my fillet steak on it but she did .. then very loudly asked me in front of the whole party "Why you not want it that way we do sizzling fillet that way " .. my reply "i didnt ask for sizzling flllet steak "! her reply "thats how we make it hot" .. umm nyway main meal finished .. they hovered made us feel unwelcome .. still to find out IF they do desserts ! .. asked for the bill, they brought it in 2 tables ?? although we were a full party .. on the bill it said 2 x seaweed £5.80 .. i questioned that as 1 portion was par of the set menu .. but although it said 2 x seaweed they only charged us for 1 portion ! at £5.80 !!! so be aware ! £135 for our table of 5 plus £127 for the other table of 6 inc 2 under 12 .....PLUS bar bills ! that seems a lot to eat food in a freezing place where they def want you gone ! go anywhere else folks ! yes the place is bright and nice but cold and very expensive !

We went to this restaurant to celebrate a special family occasion. From the start the service was indifferent. It got worse however and after an hour we’d only had some soup. After an hour and a half we’d had some Dim Sum and after nearly 2 hours ....we walked out!

We were in for a Birthday with close family it was a great night the food was spot on. Honey glazed ribs were amazing. Kids were a little upset after because they didnt get a duck mug of icecream but they still enjoyed themselves. Price was a little on the high end for the portion size but was worth the quality of the food. I would definatley recommend The Ho Ho to anyone looking for a decent chinese banquet. (Also cha-sui bau needs to be added to the dim sum menu please.)

Great to see this place is back on form! The crispy duck was the nicest I've ever had. The salt and pepper wings were dynamite they did ask if we wanted them mild but we didn't and wow! It is a bit chilly but only because of all the windows, a small price to pay for really tasty food though!

Having ordered takeaway from here multiple times I chose to come here for my 30th birthday celebrations as a party of 11.

Lovely place. Feels modern, and all the food is fresh. Excellent service. Most of the staff are young but have a great attitude. The menu is traditional but well made.

We visited as a party of 4 on a Saturday evening. There were only about 4 other tables occupied and the atmosphere was a bit subdued. The menu is wide and varied but the prices are a bit steep for what you get. We wouldn't be in a hurry to visit again.

Me and my wife were so looking forward to our first visit to Ho Hos in Mossley. We remember the excellent food and service of Ho Hos in Lees and thought our prior experience would be replicated at Mossley. Unfortunately we were to be very disappointed.

This was our first time here and I would definitely come back again. Absolutely loved the food and the staff were fantastic. We chose a banquet and it was gorgeous. We were asked after every course if we wanted to take a break and enjoy just talking which we thought was very helpful and added to the whole experience

We love this place! Food is always fresh and tasty. Staff are absolutely lovely. Prices are reasonable. It’s very clean and well presented every time. We often go for the banquets and staff are happy for you to change up the mains etc. Also very wheelchair friendly - has a ramp & a designated disabled toilet, which was great for my friend who visited with us.

We had heard good things about this restaurant so felt we were long over due. The meal started well with prawn crackers and a drinks order arriving quickly. Overall the food was nice but I found the member of staff who took our food order quite unhelpful when I asked a couple of questions about the menu. After the meal we waited twenty minutes for the plates to be cleared and then another ten minutes for the bill. For the high prices they charge I expect better service. We’ve tried it now but would have to be convinced to return.

Disappointed at all the years we have been customers that staff were not happy to resolve a problem and even made us to feel we were liars about a mistake made. After spending £54 and tipping a fiver and being treated in this way, no matter how nice the food itself is we will not be returning based on this lack of customer care

Visiting family in Stalybridge and they suggested Ho Ho for a takeaway. I must admit it was some of the best Chinese food I have had. Very tasty and would not hesitate to use again.

After a very disappointing meal in August, made an apprehensive visit on a Friday evening. I can happily say that the service and food was perfect. I am just so relieved that it has found its "Ho Ho" back

Called early Sunday lunch what a mistake only customers ,had to ask to turn up the heating Cold warm plates left on table then food appeared 5minutes later probably warmed up from Saturday . Very disappointed even though it’s our local Chinese restaurant

Dined at Ho Ho's Friday 16th November together with family for my wife's birthday. Firstly, the staff are lovely and don't rush you to choose your food. The menu is exciting and varied with new items. I can honestly say that this was the best Chinese food we have ever enjoyed! We have all been to many, many Chinese restaurants, even in China! This excelled. Forget your Wings in Manchester ...... not a patch on this food. Well done, Ho Ho's. Will return many, many times.

Been coming to this place for a long time back when it was Foo's. The food is superb and very reasonably priced.

Although service is a little slow, the food was delicious once it arrived.

It’s a good job the food was nice as there seemed to be some problem in the kitchen as it took over an hour between starters and mains.

Family party, met and greeted by staff made to feel welcome. Lovely clean location the menu had every thing excellent selection. Staff made you feel that you were very special.

We have been frequenting this Chinese restaurant for several years and have found it to be consistently good,in a par with anything you would find in a large city. The restaurant is large in size,great for big parties,but equally intimate for just two,as the tables are well spaced.the decor is pleasant too and service is always spot on.

We had a lovely family meal at Ho Ho's this evening. The food was wonderful & the staff were very attentive. Our active 3 year old grandson was made very welcome and when his attention wandered the staff were great with him. There were tears when they played happy birthday for a very emotional Granny. Thank you for making my birthday celebration so memorable.

Stopped here for a meal after reading TA reviews. We're not at all disappointed with what we encountered and would not hesitate to visit again. Had soup all round, four mains and a round of drinks 70 quid the lot. The food quality superb and plentiful, staff are lovely and attentive and the place itself was spotless. Would not hesitate to return and in fact, would go out of my way to do so.

While visiting with friends we choose here to eat. Duck starter plentiful and moist meat, also chicken with lettuce fresh and very tasty. All the mains tasted Devine. Our party of 5 left happy and all of us said they would go back. Highly recommend.

Our family had a fantastic 17th birthday celebration for our granddaughter. The staff were lovely and very attentive. There were nine of us dining and we all felt we had received individual service. The menu is extensive and good value for money. There were so many dishes we wanted to try. The food was fresh, tasty and served hot. We will definitely be returning to sample more of the menu. The restaurant has a very welcoming feel to it and is comfortable and clean. Our granddaughter really enjoyed her birthday celebration. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Went with my wife for a date night / Birthday meal. ...being a Tuesday night it wasn't overly busy ,, but still a nice atmosphere ...The food was lovely with complimentary Prawn Crackers and dip. When we asked for some more they were happy to oblige ....Dim Sum was excellent with the best ribs I've ever had . We opted for two courses and a bottle of wine ..We couldn't fault the service and the staff were attentive without being overbearing ...A nice touch was hot towels after the Dim Sum as wel as at the end iof the meal .....Complimentary Water Melon and Grapes were served after the meal before the statutory mint .( a nice touch ) .Lovely all round and we will be back soon for our anniversary ..."Thank You "

Si quieres ser deafened por el ruido en absoluto cachophony este restaurante para comer comida normal, no está mal. No está mal si quieres tener una conversación con la persona con la que estés, especialmente si es un pariente mayor. El suelo de mármol, ventanas de cristal, arrastrando sillas, estrépito, clientes escandalosos, música significa que no puedes tú oyes creo! No importa hablar con cualquiera sin gritar. He comido en este restaurante durante años. Es un poco más caro pero sin duda vale la pena el dinero extra. Obviamente el costo aumenta si decides comer en vez de conseguir una para llevar, pero las raciones en la respecto. Hemos intentado todo, desde el menú, y sin duda recomiendo el siguiente;

Having dined at Ho Ho for a number of years I was deeply disappointed by a take away meal when requesting a dish with no MSG and vegetarian.Having collected the order first time round the dish was not what was requested. I was challenged by the staff on what I had actually ordered and required to go back to collect the correct dish.Second time around I got home only to find that the dish was bland with no taste. Having pressumed the dish was lacking satay I rang again to raise the point. Only to be informed that it is not satay but chicken powder they put in the dish!!!Surely something that we should of been made aware of, when ordering a vegetarian meal.Unfortunately we will not be going back.

My wife and I were looking for a chinese restaurant close to us that would mean we could avoid having to go into China town. We looked on TripAdvisor and this place was both close and had very positive reviews.We booked a table and made our way over, the communications were absolutely excellent. We arrived and were shown to our table which looked out over the garden. We ordered hot & sour soup plus mixed chinese starters which arrived quickly and were of exceptional quality. For main course we chose two different pork dishes with egg fried rice and noodles.The mains were very very tasty with fresh vegetables, the egg fried rice had the right amount of egg and was not greasy at all.The waiting staff were very attentive and engaged in just the right amount of small talk without being intrusive. The restaurant was very clean and the bathroom was spotless.All told we really enjoyed our visit and we will definitely be returning very soon.

We booked a table for 4 at 7pm. We all ordered a starter and a main. The other 3 all got their starter and I told them to eat rather than let it go cold. By 7.50 they had all finished and I was told my starter had gone to the wrong table. I then instructed them to cancel my starter and bring out the mains rather then eat alone. One waitress said no problem it'll be out in a few minutes. Another one arrived 10 minutes and said don't worry it'll be out in 10 minutes. It was 8.30 by the time I got food and to be honest I was so angry by then I couldn't enjoy it. A complimentary glass of wine was no compensation for a ruined evening.

This is the best Chinese restaurant me and my family go to, we all ways go here now. Never a bad meal!

Visited with my friend last Thursday night for a treat! We had a starter platter to share that was delicious but expensive at more than £7 each! We then had a main each and shared rice and noodles and we had 2 pints of Diet Coke this came to £56! The staff are friendly and the service excellent! The little extras with getting some fruit after your meal and a few sweets with the bill is a nice touch! I would go back but don't understand why they don't do a weekday deal as there was only 4 tables used when we were in and as a tea out at a local restaurant it's pretty expensive! Thank you x

Went to HO HOs last night for the first time in over 15 years and the food was lovely.Greeted by friendly staff who took our orders shown us to the table and then brought out drinks over.I had duck and my partner had chicken skewer starters both were of a great size and really fresh tasting.Mains we had beef in blackbean sauce and salt and pepper chicken with fried rice and chips. Chips were more like French fries rather than Chinese chips and rice was a little bit mushy but still ok.Staff couldn't do enough for you and nice touches with the hot towels between courses Price was reasonable as well, would defiantly return

Ordered pork. Sent prawns. To short of time to call back and the rest was just okay anyway. Worst recooked and soggy cold chips too. Hardly any egg in egg fried rice. Just poor.

Very good food & friendly service, would definitely recommend if you fancy Chinese. Had a whole seabass which was cooked perfectly.

I'd been to a similarly named restaurant in the past and had a bad experience. As such I was in no rush to visit. When I did I felt a bit silly, a hidden gem just down the road. I was collecting takeaway, lovely riverside location, great interior decor complete with indoor fish pond with smoke on the water.Everything we ordered was excellent. The salt n pepper squid was super spicy (in a good way) and I can't wait to eat it again. I'll eat in next time as it looked great.

The food is amazing but last nights service was diabolical, I think our table was invisible. We will give it another go and hopefully this was a one off.

Good meal and wine, Banquet B for 2 and bottle Chardonnay.Spotless restaurant and facilities and service attentive without being fussy.
