Ree Ming in Oldham

Very busy chippy...but worth the wait

The staff have made me feel extremely welcome beautiful food served by people with a beautiful soul I have been I oldham hospital with my Mrs and really appreciate the owners comments on her health hope she gets better amazing people🙏

What a disappointment the salt an pepper ribs are disgusting don’t have a clue what was on them loads of white stuff never again go back again

We have just ordered from Ree Ming, not our first order but probably our last. We've had poor meals there and decided to try again and they weren't too bad. This visit they went back to the standard of being very very poor. We ordered Salt and pepper chips, salt and pepper chicken, young chow fried rice, soft noodles and curry sauce. No flavour, no spices, just nothing. The curry sauce was thin and tasteless and, sadly, that's a reflection of the whole order. Salt and pepper dishes should have a bit of zing, spices and such... None of which were there. The best thing about the young chow rice was, it was warm. I won't go back and, if anyone is reading this, I'd advise them not to go either.

Absolutely awful, we ordered salt and pepper chicken. This was overcooked and very tough , the salt and pepper chips were greasy, with no flavour of spices, the egg fried rice was tasteless with no egg! The soft noodles tasted like cardboard, and the curry sauce was the blandest curry I have ever tasted ! The whole meal went in the bin ! Absolutely a waste of money! Tried to ring to give some feedback, but nobody was answering the phone ! It's really bad when you can't even get to speak to anyone and rang numerous times. Would not recommend or return.

It's a great family run chippy, portions are big, cheap prices compared to others in the area. This has quickly become my favourite chippy in Oldham, I am willing to walk out of my way to pick it up (for me that's a huge thing, I don't walk anywhere if I don't have to). That's how much I love this place. Not usually a huge wait for your order, food always hot (a 30 minute walk home and it's still hot). I would highly recommend this chippy.

Some times the place does have a bit of a wait but it is really worth the wait and they are so busy because just that many people know it as well. Friendly staff, clean location and great value for money.

One of the best chip shops in Oldham

I have had Chinese from lots of places in Oldham many times. Many of them have really declined in quality over the past year and have lost that Chinese taste, eg noodles that are tasteless. Decided to try Ree Ming as it was mid week and my partner wasn’t having a drink so he could drive to collect ( delivery Fri and sat only). It was absolutely gorgeous. I had the char Sui sweet and chilli dish. I went with the pork because so many Chinese takeaways get it wrong, too tough or fatty. Not here though, it was delicious. The pork was actually tender and the dish contained a really good amount of vegetables, which I love because it makes it healthier. My partner was happy because they put the grease proof paper in between his steak pudding and the foil tray. Many places don’t do this anymore and you lose the top part of the suet because it sticks to the foil! The prices are fantastic too. In fact I think they could get away with putting the prices up a bit. It’s my new favourite and I can’t wait to try more dishes. Only improvement I would make is to offer delivery through the week . I think you would get loads more business.

We had takeout by collection (10 mins), and the food was lovely and piping hot. We are all vegetarians and the selection is large enough to give everyone, including the fussy eaters, in our family something nice. They even added some lovely Sweetcorn soup upon request when I came to collect it.

Tried this for the first time. Ignored the first few negative reviews because there were loads more positive. We were not very happy with what we ordered. It looked pleasing when dishing out but in all honesty, we found it all extremely bland. The salt and pepper chicken wings had NO taste WHATSOEVER. The salt and pepper chips had a slight flavour but very different to what we have ever had before. Duck spring rolls were more veg than duck. It just wasn't great. Might be to other people's taste but definitely wasn't to ours. Onto the next one to find a nice chinese to make our local.

Went here tonight as read very good reviews, so wish I hadn’t. Worst Chinese food I’ve ever eaten. Sweet n sour chicken was so bland, wasn’t sweet or sour 🤷‍♂️ Salt n pepper chicken was vile Can’t get my head round why people swear by this place. Normally love this place, but we had a 2 course meal on a recent Saturday night, and EVERYTHING was nothing short of RANK!... Threw the vast majority in the bin as it was literally that bad! Cold, chips were hard and little crispy things, spring rolls completely tasteless, and the main meals just dreadful!... The soups were passable... Complete waste of £30.00!!

We decided to give ree ming a go as we no longer live in royton. We ordered an array of Chinese takeaway. O how I wish we could have taken it back it was that bad.

Not impressed at all! I was told how excellent they are hence why we tried there, whilst visiting family in hospital. So disappointed the food was cold, sausage was burnt plus the chips were bitty and burnt too, obviously given the last of the batch! Even so the chinese dish was cold too....apologies unfortunately I wont be calling there again

I would give 5 stars but the curry sauce is unpredictable. Sometimes it's so flavourful, other times mediocre. Come on Ree Ming, you must know when it's good or bad!

To be honest there chips were amazing but the chinese food was a let down

Well respected Chinese take away with very pleasant staff but there has been a change lately and the standard is not what it was. The rice dishes, especially House Special Fried Rice, is very greasy and this was not a one-ff and has caused our patronage to be seriously reduced. Ironically the fish and chips are superb.

Absolutely outstanding takeaway, we ordered a huge order from here for our works christmas meal and they absolutely smashed it, despite the volume of the order the food was piping hot and really tasty. They also gave us a really good bunch of free extras. We communicated on facebook messenger about the order and nothing was too much trouble for them!

Was looking forward to a Chinese tonight but our regular place now closes on Tuesdays. Checked reviews on line and opted for Ree Ming - wished I had just had beans on toast !!! The food was tasteless and bland. Don't know how it has got such a good rating

Great value local chippy with high quality, large portion chips and the best gravy in Oldham. The staff are friendly and the chippy is family owned. If you ever come to Oldham, do yourself a favour and go to Ree Ming, you won't regret it!

Used this chippy since 1980 when I started nurse training. Best Chinese around and the service is impeccable. Never had a poor meal in 37yrs.
