The Hill Top Cafe in Brighton and Hove

Soooo very expensive, ended up having just coffee at 3.40 as bacon sandwich was £8.. won't be going back, would rather wait till I got home.

I’ve been up here a few times to walk my dog in the massive field,he loves the open space. I grabbed a hot sausage roll from the cafe as I was walking back to my car,the member of staff serving me offered a cooked sausage to my dog which was a nice touch.. Sausage roll was okay,nothing to get excited about for £3.20.. I’d return,but I wouldn’t rush back…

Popped in for breakfast as near to me. Fast service, nice coffee, but breakfast itself was subpar: gristle in the sausages, fatty bacon, runny eggs (I.e.. runny whites). All felt like done to the cheapest standard rather than thinking about quality, which is odd as my breakfast was £13.95. Others may enjoy, but was not to my tastes considering the same plethora of options nearby.

Used to be great, popped into for burgers and chips. Person who served me was rude and unhelpful. Had to wait for some time for my food. Chips were less than half the portion they used to serve, very greasy and two black hairs in them. Burger was undercooked, absolutely tasteless. Very disappointed today.

Ordered a double blue cheese burger and was completely overcooked. It was dry and tasted awful. Really poor quality

Ordered for delivery. Food was missing, it was cold and poor quality. Very disappointing experience. I called and no one responded. No refund or offer of replacement. A real shame

This place does not compromise on quality or on portion size - flapjacks are huge, bacon rolls are so generous, coffee is posh quality, and fizzy drinks are lardidar. You will be pleased to pay what they ask and the position of it, for stop overs when working in horrible Brighton, mean that you can relax outside the crap city away from all the naffness and craziness of Brighton. The staff are super clever and really amazing too. I've used it about 30 times this year, maybe more. And they have a loo.

£4 for a plate of chips. Not even home made. But from frozen. Come off it! My local cafe. Will not be returning.

Love the vegan variety, always available and fresh orange juice... lovely staff and great location, start of the south downs...

Excellent food - and friendly service. Portion sizes also make it good value and they do delivery too! Definitely recommended.

Ordered - hilltop breakfast with no egg, no mushrooms and 1 extra sausage The breakfast came with literally a handful of baked beans, it was the smallest portion of beans I have ever seen in my life. I politely asked for some more beans with my breakfast which turned out to be problematic for the staff at the cafe, who wanted me to pay even more for the additional portion of beans (I would have neeeded about 5 of their portions of beans to actually get a normal portion). They could have took the 5p hit, given me some more beans and I would have been a very happy customer, returning to spend more money in the near future (everything on my plate tasted pretty good). But they decided to go for greed, argue with me about the portion size for beans and basically offer no real customer care or service. Most places wouldn’t think twice about sorting some extra baked beans (its the cheapest thing on the plate!) Overall 2/5… let down as I spent £20 on lunch for 2 people and couldn’t even get the whole breakfast down me as it was so dry without beans. Without the beans ‘incident’ would have been an easy 5/5

I always call into this Cafe early morning on the weekends around 07:00 for bacon roll and coffee ahead of my walk / jog on the South Downs. The quality of the products are always consistent each week and the bacon in cooked just right - crispy, but not over done. The roll is fresh and not from the freezer as with many Cafes. Coffee is good and hot and the team are always friendly and offer a great service.

Finally visited the Hilltop Cafe today after many years of living in Brighton. Ordered the cheeseburger meal (burger, skin-on fries and a tea) for a very reasonable £8. The food arrived pretty quickly and was excellent! A really lovely cheeseburger, perfectly cooked in a great bun with pickles and fantastic fries. It really was delicious food and I was very impressed. Will definitely go again.

We went to this establishment on one promise. Although the flat whites were great, we never got our free wifis!

This was a lovely treat for lockdown. After a walk past the windmill and over the hills we came across this cafe and stopped for a hot chocolate and some flapjack. The flapjack was huge and extremely tasty and the hot chocolate had a nice consistency and flavour. Will be back!

We spotted this cute cafe on our way passing through and stopped for a baguette.. and we are very glad we did. Lovely food and friendly staff. Thank you

We started using Hilltop in lockdown and I wish we'd found it sooner. Fast service and really good coffee along with a wide menu of good food. The bacon baps are superb and the skin-on chips are always tasty.

Wonderful food and drinks here, really nice and chilled, service was quick and Efficient and the portion size was brilliant. Really lovely smashed avocado on toast - catered for gluten free which is a bonus!

There are so many options here and it's all great quality. Friendly staff and very convenient location.

I was over visiting friends and family and we normally go to a different cafe but they’ve let there standers slip, so we seen this cafe, the food was cooked fresh! And tasty The vibe was friendly! And everyone was so nice and helpful! It was spotless!! Would definitely go back there again when I’m back visiting!

After a stressfull morning and a long night, we stumbled upon the hill top cafe. Food was absolutely divine. Service was incredible all round top cafe.

Ubicado al final de la cresta verde en la parte superior de Dyke Road, justo al lado de la salida A 27 para Hove. Esta excelente cafetería familiar sirve un excelente té / café y tartas caseras (muy generosas y sabrosas), además de servir buenas hamburguesas y papas fritas, todo a un excelente precio. Hemos estado aquí 3 veces y volveremos de nuevo. Gran servicio de toda la familia.

Simple and pleasant outdoor cafe on the edge of a lovely walking area (with windmill and downs view). Service was very engaging, food fresh and local (sausage sandwich went down a treat) and Small Batch local coffee. We’ll go back

Qué increíble cafetería en la cima de la colina. Nunca he estado en un lugar mejor que aquí. Buen aparcamiento, precios razonables y realmente encantador. Venga aquí en la semana y me reciban y saluden comprando una joven encantadora. Incluso obtienen su carne del carnicero de Westdene (los mejores carniceros de Brighton y de todos). Su pan es de pastelería real que se hace en el día y el café (bueno, hay mucho que puedo decir sobre el café). Es de lotes pequeños (pero el café es un estándar más alto que los lotes pequeños y mucho más rápido). Lo siento pequeño lote! Hay brillantes asientos al aire libre y un área interior para los días fríos y lluviosos. Abierto buenos horarios. Tienen los mejores flapjacks caseros (como pastel de zanahoria, cereza de almendras, pastel de chocolate, pastel de banofee y mantequilla de maní). Siempre tienen mis rollos de salchicha favoritos. Y si eres un tipo de persona que hace croissant, hacen croissant de almendra, te duele el chocolate y el liso.Muy recomendable. Un inodoro gratuito para los clientes también. Yo le daría a este lugar 100 estrellas si pudiera. Así que si necesitas un día, ven aquí. Puede dar un agradable paseo hasta el molino de viento mientras disfruta de un sándwich y un café.Buen trabajo muchachos.

The Hilltop es un excelente lugar en el borde de Brighton al entrar o salir de Dyke Road, un fácil estacionamiento y un excelente lugar para tomar un desayuno o almuerzo que sea apto para vegetarianos, y también hacen un excelente café y pasteles. Tienen asientos al aire libre, pero cuando llueve también tienen una bonita zona interior. Gran servicio y un lugar perfecto para tomarse un descanso.

Me encanta este lugar para tomar mi café cuando voy a pasear a un perro. El personal es siempre tan encantador y amable. He estado viniendo por un tiempo y ahora recuerdan lo que me gusta ordenar.Me encanta el hecho de que hacen café en pequeñas cantidades y tienen leche de soja.
