Great food, great service from the local teens. Overheard one say “should I serve that table the olives and bread at the same time? Is that the way people eat those two things?” Adorable.

Wonderful farm shop!! The bread, meats and produce were wonderful. The staff was lovely too.

Always lovely with warm welcome. Only stopped for coffee and non-resist rock cake. Helped first timers understand more to be had inside . That's before you take on the pub!!!

The food was delicious and the staff were SO friendly and lovely. That alone makes this place a must visit and we will certainly be back!!

Stopped off for a coffee and decided to get a lunchbox. It's a really nice place and everything was so tasty.

Stopped in while family visited the castle and we were so quickly welcomed by both staff (Jessica) and locals that we immediately felt at home. Couldn’t have imagined a nicer way to spend an early evening. Thanks and cheers!

Pint of cider was vinegary and off. Asked to swap. Was told I couldn't because.... I had drunk a couple of cm or so of it. Which struck me as a bit odd as you needed to drink some to find out. Barmaid suggested I should have requested a taster first, and 'that'll be £5.50 for a new pint please' In the end was swapped for another but only because they had an extra spare poured by accident. Came for a pint not an uncomfortable argument. Pub itself was nice though!! Edited for clarity

Great pub, one of the best in the area. Love coming here for drink and food is good to with daily specials and a Sunday roast to die for in the winter months. Full bar available and quiz nights too!

Didn't go to the pup but to the veg shop on the side, fresh fruit and veg bread cheese, deli meats ect lovely staff, now doing coffee and pastry

Great place, very friendly, good choice of food, still a pub. With the addition of the coffee shop, deli and grocery it is everything you would want in a village👍

Proper pub with lovely chatty locals as well as visitors from further afield. The staff was charming, had character. Food just perfect. If ever there is a snowstorm around Highclere/Newbury I want to be snowed into this pub please.

Such a lovely cosy English pub, so friendly and welcoming. Great food (portions were a touch small for the price but that’s splitting hairs) there’s a lovely log burner in the centre that helps create such a lovely atmosphere. Would definitely come back. We spoke to the owner who was very kind and helpful and we loved the doggie friendly vibe

Great pub good food and they have a small shop selling fruit and veg looks like they getting hand made iron work for the garden.

Pit stop in our way back from holiday. We always try to find a pub not far off our route home and this was a real gem! I had the best steak I tasted for ages. The addition of the herb butter was a master stroke. My husband had fish & chips. The fish was really crispy and the chips were awesome! Would definitely recommend!

Went for lunch after visiting Highclere. Nice pub with great service. Food was average and portions were on the small size and the flan I had was served cold. No warm option available.

It advertises itself as a "PUB" but they get very hostile if you use it for a Public House, which is to be used by the public. Apparently you aren't allowed to stop and use their facilities even you're disabled. Don't advertise yourself as a "PUB" if you are not willing to allow the public to use the facilities. Also the toilets are actually really bad...

Went for dinner last night and hadn’t been before. Lovely welcoming team and cosy pub feel. The food was so tasty and came out in really good time. Will 100% be coming back again!

Lovely pub with really lovely publicans & friendly locals. I had fish & chips and my coeliac husband had the curry, they were both delicious 😋 after a lovely walk around the village and highclere we went back to the pub and had another drink and I got to have an apple crumble & custard which was so, so tasty I could of eaten it all over again 🤤🤣 would definitely recommend and will be back if we r in highclere again 👍🏻🤩

Fabulous Sunday roasts. Excellent food and friendly staff.

I needed a midpoint area to meet friends for dinner and so booked this gastro pub. It bode well when I turned up to find the car park full and I wasn't disappointed. The staff were fantastic, both friendly and efficient. All members had a smile of their faces. Lovely warm and cosy interior too. Next craft beers. Staff helped me to choose one that I may like and they certainly weren't wrong. Menu - really good choice of food. We chose a shared starter and I had the steak whilst my friends had the vege burger. Really delicious. Really couldn't fault it. The experience was fab from start to finish. If I didn't live such a distance I would definitely be a regular. Highly recommended. Many thanks!

Traditional intimate village pub, friendly staff, lovely food sensibly priced, good beers and wine list. Also do takeaways and sell nice fruit and veg. Take away also nice and Pizzas highly recommended.

Pop up greengrocer every Friday and Saturday, excellent produce, friendly guy runs it.

Kind staff, pleasant atmosphere. Tasty food! Everything you need for a pleasant evening.

The building itself is unremarkable but the standard of cooking was good and beer very good (Timothy Taylor Boltmaker - a treat to find that). I suspect this draws a fairly well heeled clientele and the rather well spoken lady I assumed to be the landlady seemed like she belonged more in a swanky restaurant than a village pub.

The pulled pork burger was delicious

If I could give 0 stars I would. The Landlady was incredibly rude and made me and my mum very uncomfortable. Safe to say we won't be returning.

Came across this by chance. We had probably one of the best pizzas we've ever eaten, as a chef and a foodie I don't say this lightly. It was excellent, lovely thin crust and lots of flavour in the base. I would highly recommend. The pub itself was a little bland not much of an atmosphere... but would definitely go back and recommend purely for the pizza's and homemade coleslaw. I've just noticed that they do takeaway - they could teach Domino's a thing or 10.....

Popped in for lunch on our way though. Friendly barman. Had a pint of Landlord and the Parma ham, mozzarella focaccia. All very nice. Good they were still doing food at 3pm as the couple we passed before had stopped serving. Nice little outside area at the front and parking.

What a find! Rarely do you find a lovely spot that has lovely staff and lovely food... But this has all three in spades! The menu was wonderful as it wasn't just the usual burgers on offer. I had a steak burger (the best I've had in a long time, cooked to perfection!) with extra fried onions. The little pots of relish went wonderfully and added that little extra touch from people who care about what they are serving! The flowers outside are worth the journey alone!

Yummy meal and fantastic service. We had the nachos and calamari starter which was really delicious. Although the Nachos could have done with a little more cheese. The service was amazing, our waiter was friendly, helpful and attentive but not too attentive. Also gave us some really good food recommendations. You can't pre-book dinner, however we arrived after 5:30pm and sat outside to get the last of the sun with a drink and starters. They then reserved a table inside for us later, which was perfect. We ordered the hoisin duck pizza on his recommendation and it was tasty. My only gripe was that it was a little dry, it probably needed more hoisin. So a 4/5 for the pizza and nachos. But due to the excellent service I give it 5 stars. They also allow dogs and have a pub dog a little schneizer boy called Milo. My boy doesn't always love meeting every dog, but we got a table in the corner and Milo kept his distance which was perfect.

The food is amazing, service is top dollar. What ever you do dont drive past pop in it's well worth it.

Visited whilst Glamping locally - A M A Z I N G! So welcoming and friendly, we went again the next night. Menu varied - especially the wood fire pizza's, allsorts for everyone. Intend to visit again when we are in the area.

Social distancing guidelines, screens at the bar, hand sanitisers and face masks worn when not seated ensure everything is being done to safeguard their patrons (and themselves). I'd recommend you try their takeaway or delivery service if you can't make it in (or just fancy a treat at home) — you won't regret it!

First time visiting for birthday dinner and I’m so glad we did! Dinner was beautiful and service absolutely fantastic. Personally I’m not keen on new places as I am a big foodie and don’t like to be disappointed but there was four of us and everyone was very happy. Beautiful ribs and steak 😋 We’ll definitely be back soon.

Found this gem when meeting a mate for a well deserved catch up. Great range of beers on tap, food was really good (id recommend the pizza 🍕) and the service was spot on Unfortunately I didnt take any pictures of the food because I ate it so quickly !

We have been using the Red House since "lockdown" began for their excellent takeaways, Pizzas or full menu plus daily specials. The owners Simon and Katie have been so helpful in these difficult times. Draught beer and lager has also been available as a takeaway. Excellent

Fantastic pub, great food and a lovely atmosphere.

Nice place. Good food. Lovely service. Can't go really go wrong. The only thing I could criticise is the old, dirty toilets. Could do with an updated, cleaner appearance.
