Our visit to chulo thakali restaurant was a delightful experience. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore authentic Nepali flavors in a warm and welcoming setting. The menu offered a wide variety of dishes, catering to both vegetarians and meat lovers. We started with the chili chicken momo, which were perfectly steamed and filled with flavorful chicken. The highlight of the meal was the thali set, rich with spices, lentil and tender meat, accompanied by fluffy rice. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with authentic flavors. Considering the quality and portion sizes, the prices were reasonable. We felt we received great value for our money, especially with the generous portions. We will definitely be returning!

Everything was so good that we had to go back for second time before we left. We had steamed momo and sukuti chatpate too which I sadly do not have pictures of. Definitely steamed momo is a shout it reminded me of Nepal. Staffs are very nice and friendly.

The food was very tasty and the portions was good.

We ordered several smaller plates and they were delicious. Especially the dumplings! But a really interesting menu with many tasty dishes, very flavourful and you can get either spicy or mild depending what you prefer. A real gem! The service was great and they do takeaway too. Highly recommended!

Tasty steamed momos and chowmin and Tupka

Really lovely gem of a restaurant. If you like Asian food then this is the place for you. We had an array of Nepalese dishes I had never tried before and they were all delicious. They also have chow mein and ramen dishes if that’s more to your liking. Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back!

My partner and I went for dinner here on Friday evening and wanted to say how nice the food was. It was really good to try some more traditional food (momos were awesome as were the ribs!). Overall the food was great, inexpensive and really tasty with a good selection of items. Service was great and very easy. I'm really sad to see that this place has little foot fall as I think people are missing out. Yes the inside is a bit dry but that's not helped by people not trying this place out. Get in, eat some amazing food and have a nice reasonably priced evening out!! Congratulations to the team for the great food and lovely service!

Ive walked by nearly every day for two years and never been inside. I wish i could turn back the clock! Their ramen is absolutely amazing. If you cant handle spice they can tone it down for you. Perfect comfort food. The pork ramen is my favourite. The portion is huge and absolutely delicious

The most comforting Nepalese experience for natives and those wishing to try something new. The dishes in variety and authenticity is second to none. I am so thrilled to have found this gem! The Thukpa is flavourful and light, the Momo is so satisfying, and the Chicken Fried Rice is well-balanced. Do not miss out if you’re in the area!

I went with my partner to this restaurant and we thought the food was great. We ordered spicy pork ribs as starter and the chicken fried rice and spicy prawn ramen as mains. The flavour of both mains was incredible and the portion size was very good. If there is something to improve, it would be the starter, which was a bit drier and smaller than expected. We will definitely be back soon!!

Flavoursome. Limited quantity of meat. Small prawns not battered / crispy as on menu. Noodle quality lacking greatly (instant noodle used). Expensive for portion / quality.

Bhavani and Lok were amazing with their service and explaining the flavours of the dishes on the menu. The food was really fresh and tasty too. Wish the premises were more authentically decorated to help improve ambience.

Have tasted Nepali food many places across the country but this has to be one of the best, if not the best. The place could be more decorated and designed but it makes up for that loss with absolutely scrumptious food. Have been coming here since it’s opened and will continue to do so.

Booked a table on line for a friends birthday as we had heard good reviews about this restaurant, I received a confirmation email back from them, only to turn up and the restaurant was closed. Tried calling several times while standing outside and could see lights were on inside but no one answered, very very disappointed.

If you happen to be visiting Basingstoke and want to try something new, this Gurkha kitchen will serve you mouthwatering Nepalese dishes at modest prices. We got there after 9pm and were almost turned away as they do not take customers in the last hour of business. Service was very good, Shoghat had good recommendations for us as first timers and gave insight into Nepalese food. Make sure you get there well before last orders for food at 9pm!

Really good!! We went on Friday, the food was so tasty, would especially reccommend the Jhol momo, Gurkha curry and the chappati +puri. The chef special pork fry was also very good flavour but best as a starter kind of dish to share between 2-3 people. The chilli oil was also really tasty and the service was very friendly and helpful.

Couldnt believe I hadn't eaten here before. The restaurant itself is quite basic but the food was amazing. Everything was so fresh and really tasty. Price was also very good. Very relaxed atmosphere and great service.

Absolutely great for the taste - specially chow mein (perfect taste from home!), I am sure other foods too have authenticity. Ambience is not superb however it's ok neat and clean with Nepalese folk music playing in background. The space is not not great for big crowd as it has a limited space as they are not using space at first floor. The staffs particularly Mr. Saugat is really friendly to help choose and suggest you the best options available. They have child seats too. I liked it and recommend it to you if you are trying to taste authentic Nepalese food.

Excellent food, went there tonight, 29th Feb 2020, and asked for recommendations and was really happy with the cuisine served. If you like authentic Nepalese cuisine or want to try some thing different in Basingstoke, this is one of the places to go. Again excellent and great value for money.

Excellent food and drinks at reasonable prices. Must try at Basingstoke for some good Nepali and Indian food. Chicken platter, Pork Ribs must to be tried.

This place is a real gem! The staff are extremely nice and helpful If you don't know anything about Nepalese food like I did. And speaking of the food, its delicious. They do a variety of platters which are good for experiencing different dishes. The momo dumplings and gurkha curry were brilliant. The curry meat is cooked on the bone so is extra flavorful. Their Thali is also a great way to try different Nepalese dishes. There is also a number of vegetarian and vegan options and a few nice beers to choose from.

Great introduction to Nepalese food, so much variety in flavour, amazing value for money. The guy serving us was knowledgeably and friendly. Overall the best place in Basingstoke I've eaten in a while. Makes it more special when it's a independent also. Would highly recommend, especially if you're veggie (a lot of options)
