The Hideout Cafe in Neath Port Talbot

Lots of staff but no one seemed to have a clue on what they were doing. No manners no concentration to what the customer is ordering. I ordered 2 meals the same she asked would I like peas chips and gravy and I replied yes on both.I also ordered 2 hot chocolate drinks. After waiting a while a member of staff brought one meal and just put it in middle of table without saying anything. Later another member of staff brought the 2 drinks I asked where the other meal was as my wife had already eaten half her meal by now. The reply was I don’t know they must be doing it . After a while had passed the lady that served me came over and said I had only ordered one meal in a very condescending manner quite loudly. No attention to detail, haven’t a clue how to run a cafe. Didn’t even wipe the table after clearing the dishes away. Left as hungry as I was when I went in.

This is a great cafe, and their food offering is as expected in a town centre cafe. We have eaten in The Hideout many times before and on this occasion we decided to try the Brie and Cranberry Panini. I am sorry to say it was awful. I have never seen a Panini that is oval (like a Pitta bread) with seeds all over it and it was dry and hard. There was very little Brie inside but a lot of Cranberry sauce. I couldn't eat it, it was like trying to eat bread and jam. Please Hideout Cafe, stick to what you are good at - great value, tasty, well cooked cafe food.

Lovely clean cafe,the Breakfast was really nice,not greasy at all, the Staff were really nice, all except the Ladie behind the counter, I have been there many times and this ladie attitude is appalling, the way she speaks to customers in a very condescending way, move to the side the queue is there, I know what I want but if you didn't she is so snappy with people old and young, no please or thankyou. I have rated it a 4 but it would definitely be a 5 if not for that person .

Quality clean cafe with friendly staff. Lovely food cooked perfectly with good quality ingredients and products. Will definitely be back on our next visit to the town centre as always supporting local business and avoiding large low quality food chains.

I think they should stick to basic food offerings which are usually quite good. Today we ordered Brie and Cranberry Paninis. I have never seen a Panini like this one, it was a strange shape with loads of seeds on the top and it was really crispy on the bottom. To be honest it tasted like a jam sandwich, there was very little Brie and loads of cranberry, it wasn't nice at all. If you can't do the slightly upmarket things properly then don't do them, sorry!

Popped into The Hideout today for a quick lunch My husband ordered a breakfast and stood shocked as the women responded with "WELL?!" when he looked puzzled she said "WELL!! What drink do you want? I haven't got all day!!" How was he meant to know that a drink came with the breakfast or what types of drinks were on offer Be warned..... Everyone here is treated like a regular.... But not in a good way because as a regular they are expected to 'just know' all the deals and how they work. Then my latte came with no froth on the top.... Food hasn't arrived yet but I'm not setting my expectations to high after this start

Nowhere near as good as it used to be. Had a large breakfast but asked for no mushrooms or black pudding. This is the ONLY place that does not give you an extra item if you do not want something. I even had to pay for more toast. Breakfast was poorly presented, everything was thrown on the plate with the eggs on top of each other. Bacon was almost pure fat and was flabby, eggs were nearly hard and the sausages soft. I would have brought it to the attention of the staff but nobody came to ask if everything was ok. Very disappointing as it’s usually far better than this. There is far better out there and unfortunately I will not return.

The venue and tables look attractive. The chairs are not very comfortable though. Good choice on the menu, some nice sounding items. Order at counter and then delivered to the table. Service is fine. Friendly enough, competent. Nothing spectacular though. Food was not offensive in any way. Not too oily, good portion, well presented but nothing special or super tasty. Just okay. Not sure I would come again.

Really good food here. Been a few times and each time been greeted by the same rude abrupt lady behind the counter taking orders. Gave her the benefit of the doubt the first time, however as it’s been more than once, wouldn’t return. She has a real bad attitude. Real shame as we really enjoyed the breakfast!

I visited this cafe on Saturday for some food and a coffee, the food was great! However the lady taking orders was rude, rolling her eyes at people and talking about customers as they left! We simply asked for a menu only for her to shout at reply with attitude. Really put me off going back especially the way she spoke to little old ladies who were just trying to get a coffee. Really disappointing.

myself and my wife went there today for the 1st time and we both had a breakfast and I have to say it was nice and filling. There was nothing I could pick wrong at it well worth the money and staff are friendly. Will be be going back to try out more food a top 5 🌟

Staff are really friendly which is brilliant to see in Port Talbot as I find a lot of establishments to be lacking in this department locally. Keep up the good work ladies! Food was good as was the lattes that were included with the meal price. Only thing that stopped me from giving 5 out of 5 was the hash browns. They were a bit floppy and not crispy enough for my liking. I do love a good hash brown and this can be just as imperative as the bacon in my books. However the Bacon was good quality and really tasty and not too much uncooked fat that needed cutting off. Pretty lean thick slices, C’est Bon! Will definitely return. More than likely next weekend to try something else off the menu! Pictures are of the Mega hideout breakfast which is 3 of everything and the small breakfast (dry - no beans or tomato so had a bonus egg)

I’d heard good things about here so as it was a hot day and I didn’t feel like cooking I decided to go. I had scampi , chips peas and a bottle of 7 up for £7.85 . Good value , decent amount . Both the lady behind the counter and the one serving me were friendly and helpful. I’d have preferred the chips done a little more personally but over all pretty good.

Popped into the cafe today with my 2 nephews who are visiting from Taiwan, we all had the hideout breakfast, it was fabulous, very friendly staff and great service, definitely will go there again.

Popped in with a friend today for food, had the hideaway breakfast it was lovely, top quality ingredients, bacon was so thick some places may have tried to palm it off as gammon!! Friend had the pie and that also looked fantastic. Staff very friendly also and good value for money, will be back soon!

Amazing place and food, the Hideout avocado breakfast was great value and it tasted absolutely delicious.

Good selection of food and home made cakes! Excellent service. Polite and friendly staff. Will make it at least a weekly visit and definitely recommend to visitors, but it can get busy as it’s so popular!!

Tried this newly opened restaurant today, ordered chicken curry, rice & chips, was delicious. Staff were efficient & friendly, will definitely visit again
