The Hide Bar in Southwark

I'm so glad I got to visit before they closed. Sad to know it won't be here whenever I return to London. Bartenders were great!! Food was delicious, and the drinks were superb!

Great place for gin lovers… they are very pushy with the table service. Asked for a white wine with lemonade, came with no lemonade… asked the bartender for a splash of lemonade which he looked at my in disgust and said… its table service only. Over very great place, maybe the bartenders cat died and he was having a bad day…

I went with some friends, and had excellent service, nice music and bar for drinks.the staff looks friendly, specially from a spanish guy, i think his name is Dario, always attend of customers.

The ambience was nice and the staff were lovely to me. Unfortunately, the drinks weren't great. The G&Ts first came served with flat tonic - only after we complained, we were given bottled tonic and that was much better. Staff also mixed up our drinks when serving. The negronis were fine, but I was glad I asked if they were made on the spot as a lot of their cocktails on draught. Even then, the negronis were just okay and a little too sweet for my liking. 3 stars only for the staff because service was nice and they were quick to swap out the G&Ts when we complained about them with no fuss. Unfortunately, you're better off somewhere else if you want a cocktail or spirit+mixers. I can't say much about their beer & wine as I haven't tried them. For a minimum of £12 per drink, I wish they were better.

We rocked up, no booking but sat at the bar drinking happy hour cocktails. The staff were great to help point us to the deals, suggest cocktails and provided great service. Stayed here longer than our planned "1 quick drink" purely because the bar staff were so good and pointed out the happy hour.

I always come here every Wednesday with my colleague from work. We like coming here for a burger and a local beer, and we come from Liverpool Sreet. The new dessert menu is the best choice after a nice dinner. Chefs are lovely and the staff very funny. Highly recommended

A really buzzy atmosphere. Quentin the manager was a great host and quite the alchemist with his recommendations and concoctions. In addition the small plates are perfect accompaniments. Strongly advise a visit if your in the neighbourhood

Stopped by at the end of the night for one drink after having always walked past before. We waited 20 minutes for two cocktails to arrive. I think they’d forgotten us as the waiter looked over and then said something hurriedly to a colleague before the drinks were brought over quickly . My wife had the superstar martini which she said was pretty average. I asked for an old fashioned which was not on the menu but they said they could do it. It was probably the worst one I’ve ever had, just lots of blocks of ice and some whiskey and a slither of orange peel. Has potential to be a great place but I just think they were so busy they dropped the ball on this one. Would not go back as there are so many great bars nearby.

This place really appealed as I walked past - it didn’t disappoint. Decided it was a night to celebrate for 1. It stuck in my mind after passing it last week. Had a really lovely night. Great food, nice selection of quality drinks, and nice vibe / great service. Would definitely come back. Great location. Bermondsey Street is vibrant and grungy 👍👍

We were there with a friend who lives in London and he suggested this place to visit. The athmosphere is pretty cool, the members of the stuff are very friendly and amazing. If you would like to eat and drink something nice this is your place!

We've been there with friends several times and always been satisfied with service. Staff are very friendly and kind. Even though it's a bar still be getting delicious food too thanks to the chefs. I would recommend to anyone to visit.

Overcharged me on drinks despite confirming what drink I had and the price!

- visited the hide last night for some food and wine with friends. We got the hide board from the sharing boards. Was great for the table and a bottle of fruity nero di troia, was all delightful. Would recommend!

Had a lovely evening here. All the staff were amazing and really made us feel welcome, with notable shout out to Robin who was a star and made us feel very welcome. Also their new experimental cocktails were honestly great. Will defo have to come back and convince some friends to come allong to!

Everything was fine, except for the terrible and arrogant customer service provided by the manager. When we were ordering food and asked about the Burrata dish, one of my other friends was describing Burrata to us as being in the cheese category, and the manager got very defensive because she is Italian and kept aggressively telling us it's not a cheese. When we asked whether they had truffle fries, she forcefully continued repeating, "We are a Michelin Star restaurant, we don't serve fries, if we did, I wouldn’t be working here," in a harsh tone. We ordered a bread selection and were given a flat bread that had pork without even mentioning it to us because we don't eat pork; when we told her we ordered a bread selection, she gave us an awful look. This is unacceptable; we are paying customers, and this is a terrible way to portray the organisation. She made us feel like we were low-status and shouldn't be here, like the ugly ducklings. It was so bad that I will never return; as the manager of a well-known pub, this is not how you treat paying customers. We didn't pay £2 or £3 for our bill; we paid about £200. What a pity,

I used to frequent The Hide Bar for many years back. It used to be busy with amazing cocktails and lovelly small platters. Now, it was quiet and they cannot make any classics like they used to. No wonder the nearby Nine Liver Bar is thriving and packed. Such a shame!

Cocktails on point 👌🏼 Service was lovely too, they supported me through choosing new cocktails to try. I tend to be slow and indecisive with those things so always appreciate when waiting staff is putting up with me.

Had the rankest "sparkling wine". They don't serve champagne/prosecco as they only serve local drinks, fine, but this was hideous. I asked for a bottle of fizz to celebrate a friends birthday and this c£40 bottle is all they had or a £200+ alternative. I just cannot believe no one has ever complained about it. It was a cloudy semi fizzy swamp water and I'd implore them to change this option. There are many excellent English sparkling wines, this is no excuse. The cocktails were also very poor and having such a wide range of beers on tap, they were also terrible. We were excited to hunker down for the evening, but left after, having not evening finished those drinks with regret and nausea. Yuck. Don't recommend.

We had an amazing time last night in a *private space in the back* yesterday they have amazing drinks and food, we had a waitress and she was amazing looking after us and making sure we were all happy with our drinks! Would definitely come back with all my friends

This little gem in Bermondsey st has the most delicious cocktails! I discovered them when they were doing an oyster and martini evening during London cocktail week. They have the best selection of spirits from London and the bartenders definitely know how to make drinks. Highly recommend!!

£40 for two drinks? 🙃 Went with some friends, asked for a cocktail on the menu and was told it wasn’t available so recommended another cocktail which we ordered… the bill came for the wrong drinks which were £6 more each (that’s before service charge of 12.5%) - when I went to get my friends to pay the bill a member of staff grabbed me by the collar and accused me of trying to leave without paying. I tried to explain what drinks we had ordered but the staff threatened to call the police so we had to pay and left immediately! Will never be returning… other reviews show this isn’t a one off! 🥴

Late night venue that's run by a great team who deliver beautifully crafted drinks with well sourced ingredients. Our group had a wonderful time - even if we were all a little hazy the following day!! Thank you at Hide Bar team for providing not only great hospitality, but a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Really good independent beer offering as well.

It’s a lovely little gem. But the whole app to order thing adds service. Staff got really snotty when my friend asked them to take it off. Which I think if you’re just ordering a drink is perfectly reasonable… 🤷🏻‍♂️

I left at 1:03am on Wednesday night and came back 30 seconds later asking “Where are the toilets?” only to hear “We’re closed.” So I said “I was just sitting right there…” and they said “It’s 1am, everyone needs to be out”. Bravo.

Forced to use their app and charged 12.5% service charge per transaction. Pretty ridiculous to charge 12.5% to bring drinks to the table and no way to remove it.

Poor customer service, staff had the appearance of being friendly but their actions spoke louder than their words and were just downright rude. Came here with a work group of around 10 people when there was plenty of room and sat down at a big empty table in the back. We were then asked to move to the tables by the window (to make the place appear more full) if we wanted to stay. This was fine, but feel it wasn't very welcoming to impose conditions when we had just arrived and were clearly going to spend money here. At closing time the way to the toilets was blocked off and I was told I couldn't use the toilet before leaving, since last orders had already been announced a while ago. For the hospitality sector, this place was quite inhospitable. Frankly I would not come back here.

Love that this bar stays open late - we actually got a drink before dinner and then returned afterwards for more drinks. Prices as you'd imagine for London and the location. Friendly staff and tables towards back are great. Tried to accommodate everyone that arrived.

Visited here on Friday night with friends, meeting in London for the weekend. What a brilliant choice! Had to order via the QR code, which was frustrating to begin with, but worked out well because we could just order additional items as we wanted them and the service was really quick. Initially ordered one sharing platter between 4 of us - the Hide board - it was fantastic! Lovely selection of hot food and the Arancini balls were so good we could have eaten a bowl of them on their own! We then decided to order the charcuterie and cheese sharing board - also fantastic - and the hummus was the best we’ve tasted. Definitely recommend and we all said we’d return. Well done team!

It's a cool little venue, however I am personally not a big fan of craft beers and larger's. Also the the choice to sell in 1/3 or 2/3 didn't appeal to me either. The bar snacks were really tasty and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Disappointing. Staff lovely but despite the description on line about their cocktail menu etc, the cocktail I had was unimaginative for £10 price tag and I expected more effort in its appearance. Planned to stay and drink and eat there all night but left after only one drink.

Came here with a group of friends for some cocktails on the weekend. Cocktails and drinks were fine. Atmosphere on a Saturday night was a bit dead. The reason for the low starred review is because of our service. Barman in a white t-shirt followed one of our party to the bathroom and then accused him of sniffing coke in the toilets, which didn’t happen. He apologised after my friend insisted on being searched (which the barman didn’t do) but then for the rest of our time there he proceeded to hover at our table and intently watch us. We felt extremely uncomfortable and offended that something like this was being accused of us all, so we left and would not return or recommend.

Good service and friendly staff scraped this review up 3 stars. The bar itself is nice enough but the cocktails I had, mojito and dark & stormy, were as poor as I've ever had. And they had no cachaca either. Also a bit overpriced for what it was.

Constantly rotating beer lines, seasonal cocktails on draught and made by the bartender's, large selection of London spirits - namely a very healthy gin selection. Tasty food, nice atmosphere. Seating is comfy and varied in size for groups or couples. Lovely knowledgeable staff.

Lively bar in bermondsey open until late. Recommend for fig negroni and variations of gin cocktails.

My wife and I took a trip to the Hide Bar over the Christmas break and found the Hide tucked away down, what we thought was, a quiet back street. It was Christmas after all and I reckon 90% of their normal clientele were away from their offices. So, we had the bar almost to ourselves and were treated to some fantastic service by a chap called Quentin. We ordered their take on a Bloody Mary, having had our fill of bubbles over the previous days, and were treated to a delicious cocktail that was better than a Bloody Mary. As we got chatting to Quentin about various other drinks and cocktails he served us up several small tasters and trials for spirits, liqueurs and cocktails. He even made Absinthe something we could drink and educated us on Absinthe etiquette, lol. All poured at our own table. The Orange liquor we tried was amazing. So, whilst it was quiet, this guy really made our visit an absolute pleasure. The place is relatively small and I am sure that on any normal business day throughout the year it is busy with people who work locally and I would imagine it can get quite lively. Food wise we took on the Burger. It was absolutely delicious and something I'd certainly recommend. All in all, a great visit and one I'd recommend if you are in the area.

This establishment should remove the cocktail label from its window. Anywhere that serve espressos Martinis from draft should never be allowed to serve cocktails. We tried the other cocktails and all lived up to this statement.

Great little bar with nice staff and atmosphere. Finding a bar that wasn't absolutely heaving on the last Saturday before Christmas wasn't easy but The Hide was perfect. There's plenty of seating, cocktails are reasonably priced and interesting plus the music isn't too loud. Great for a catch up with friends or a date but not if you want a wild night.

Friendly staff comfy leather couches. Mon night so quite quiet, bit expensive but it is central London.
