We were staying onsite and decided to head to the Hide in Steak Night Tuesday. When we arrived our table was labelled up ready with our name. We were warmly greeted by Sammy who had her work cut out with us 5. We all wanted our steaks cooked differently and whilst ordering we kept adding sauces and then side dishes. Sammy was storing our order in her memory rather than noting it down. Jokingly she told us it was her first day back to work after Maternity leave so fingers crossed we would all get the correct meal 😊 Professional to the end of course we got the right meal and gorgeous they were too. Really lovely atmosphere and Sammy and the other young waitress working alongside were excellent and coped well with a very busy dining room. We will be back before the end of the week. Thanks ladies (& kitchen staff of course) 😊

I went today with my family for breakfast. When are food came it was delicious the only let down was when I went to the toilet the toilet washroom chart had never been filled in

We took advantage of being able to book in for the pie night (Wednesday) The venue overlooks the lake a wonderful setting especially when you can sit outside on the patio. The two young girls serving were so friendly and attentive they couldn’t do enough for us, booking is essential on our visit they were fully booked. The pies were superb steak and stilton was one of the best pies I have tasted A gem of a place ! Well worth a visit ! Well to the chef excellent food

We were staying in a lodge attached (Herons Mead) and ate here on 2 occasions. We visited on steak night (Monday) I had the steak and my partner had the chicken burger. Both were fantastic. Big portions and reasonable prices. We went in one morning for breakfast too which was again lovely. Would definitely recommend

Staying at Herons Mead and this place is great! Lovely service from start to finish. Dogs are welcome both inside and outside. We went on a Monday, which is steak special night. The steak was some of the best I have ever tasted. Chips are homemade and taste amazing! Top notch food and value. Lovely location looking over the lake.

After looking at many places on the app, we came across this place. While visiting in the local area, It was great. Good food, nice staff, and lots of lovely well-behaved dogs in with their families f9r food and drinks

I had the best experience here. The staff was really friendly they gave my sister extra whipped cream on her hot chocolate. They were so polite. There was a young boy who served us who was do sweet. I was allowed to have mushrooms on toast ( which wasn't in the menu) and it was delicious. The good here is outstanding would definitely recommend

Saw good reviews about this place so gave it a go. Nice and clean, friendly hostess(Sammy) Sheffield lass. Food lovely, steak pie very nice and haddock portion massive that partner had. We'll definitely book again next time we're down. Set in grounds of a fishing complex with caravans around both spotless and We'll kept lakes

Sunday lunch, lots of it good quality, great service £12.95 The venue is local, for us will use again. Well worth a visit. Batemans beer a great plus too.

Popular for any meals. We love their breakfasts. And late afternoon meals. Staff are attentive and welcoming.Sunday lunches are carvery style and staff willing to help and carry the plate to the table. It’s dog friendly I find the dogs have always been well behaved. Outside seating when warmer. Food is competitively priced and cooked to order.A little oasis of calm.

The Sunday lunch carvery was absolutely delicious, everything was so tasty, would definitely recommend a visit. All of the staff were very welcoming, helpful, polite and accommodating, everywhere was lovely and clean, so glad we popped in, excellent value for money, we will be coming back very soon.

Unfortunately it did not live up to expectations. We phoned for a collection and was told 45 mins so we arrive and told it will be another 10 mins - that’s no worries, 20 mins later our food is ready. Walked the food 2 mins back to our lodge, unfortunately it was stone cold! The steak on my mixed grill was overbooked and was missing the fried egg. Onion rings would have been nice if they were warm, only thing that was hot was the chips - the buttermilk chicken was also soggy. The bacon cheese burger was also cold but was enjoyed. The halloumi fries as a starter was lovely, but I am disappointed overall - for the cost of the mixed grill, I did expect better, at least it to be warm :(

Sunday Carvery, wow make sure you are hungry. Setting is glorious, service fantastic and the food is fabulous. Cannot wait to return to try the breakfast which came highly recommended and the week day lunches. The pie night sounds great too.

Me & my wife were staying at the herons mead lodge that this sits within. The food was always amazing, and if you're staying on site you can even ring up & collect. The staff were always so friendly & helpful. I'd highly recommend the cheese & bacon burger, and the Sunday roast.

Just been to steak night at the hide and the meal was absolutely beautiful . Staff were so friendly helpful, and polite will definitely be booking for pie night on Wednesday . What a lovely gem it is.

We visited the Hide several times during our recent stay at Herons Mead. We had break, dinner and also called just for drinks. Each visit we were met with the same warm friendly atmosphere, created by Sammy and the team. The food is beautiful and reasonably priced. We would definitely visit again even if we were just passing through.

Called for coffee in the week liked what we saw.So we booked Sunday lunch. Excellent food. Great staff. Have booked for next week. Really enjoyed the experience. So friendly.

Great place for food - my breakfast was excellent and served quickly and efficiently by the lovely bubbly Sammy who was so helpful and obliging. It’s cosy, exceptionly clean. tastefully decorated with all the condiments on the table you could wish for. The pot of tea with matching cup and saucer was a delight just like at home. I had the cooked breakfast and wow was this good the optional Boston sausages were so tasty. Everything was affordable and not overpriced If you want a nice ride out or are passing and want good freshly cooked food I highly recommend this eatery - I can’t wait to try the evening menu!!

Well what a little gem this place is.we had breakfast on the friday and dinner on Saturday also breakfast on the Sunday.it was all excellent all freshly cooked and the staff all warm and welcoming don't drive its definitely a pull in and try

I can not prise The Hide enough. The food is lovely, the staff are friendly and the setting is great. I have allergies and they catered for them amazingly. I can not thank them enough. I will visit time and time again.

We called into the Hide on Friday lunchtime as we have a caravan at a site a few minutes away. The place is beautifully decorated and clean. We had a sandwich and a drink and the food was delicious and well presented. We returned on Saturday evening for a drink and there was a singer entertainer, it was a great night! We’ll definitely return in a couple of weeks.

Just had a great Sunday carvery with our family beautiful fresh food, very clean and excellent service. The staff are all very friendly and look after you well to keep you safe. We can highly recommend them. And definitely will be paying them another visit.

Had Sunday Carvery lunch at the Hide and was very impressed by the quality and value for money of the food. A choice of beef or turkey with roast potatoes, boiled new potatoes, mixed greens, carrot and swede mash, cauliflower cheese and red cabbage as vegetable options plus, of course, Yorkshire pudding and stuffing.We sat outside with a perfect view over the lake and the trees as a backdrop.A good choice of cheesecakes as desert.The bar has a good range of beers and lagers with cocktails as an option.Excellent value for money and I would wholeheartedly recommend this great little bar and eatery.

Had read the reviews and decided to try it out - they were all correct. Had the omelettes which were packed full and accompanied by a tasty salad and home made chips - lovely food, peaceful atmosphere, good value for money. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back!

It’s caravan season and the Hide reopened with new management and new menus. Visited on opening night. The food we had was excellent along with a superb bottle of spanish wine. Couldn’t fault anything. We are looking forward to trying more dishes on the menu over the next 9 months. Wishing you all every success.

After a stressful week we only called in for a quiet drink, but the food smelled so good we decided to order too.It was lovely. The meat, the veg all cooked just how you would like it at home.The atmosphere of the place too, calm, tranquil, restful.There were quite a few sat outside on the terrace overlooking the fishing lakes.Well done Shelley and Angie for making it a lovely experience. I can't stop telling everyone how much they need to pay you all a visit.

It is a lovely cafe/pub located outside of Orby on a beautiful tranquil caravan site, overlooking two fishing ponds covered in water lilies. We came here for lunch two days in a row and a breakfast. The food was amazing - made from fresh local ingredients, tasty and nicely presented (we tried a panini, sandwiches and full English breakfast). Coffee was strong and made in a proper barista machine. The weather was great, hence we had a pleasure to eat on a decking, watching fishermen. The staff was very hospitable and looked after us well. Huge thank you to Shelly and the chatty young man Thomas! The Hide is well worth discovering if you are passing by or even a special trip, if you are looking for a friendly service, good food, a drink and a quiet location.

We'd heard good reports about this place so decided to find it..so glad we did...the setting is beautiful..the decor is calm, clean and pleasing....the staff were really friendly and helpful...and the food was delicious...We had jacket potatoes with beans, coleslaw and a lovely salad.....nice strong americanos...and lovely peaceful setting to look out on..fishermen, ducks, birds..all overlooking a lake...the accommodation looks really lovely too...We will definitely be back, especially on a sunny day, as it has a delightful patio area...What a find! Well worth the drive...

We booked afternoon tea a surprise for 95th birthday. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The tea of sandwiches and cakes very enjoyable. The surroundings peaceful, clean with great view of the lake. Would definitely go again.

This was our first trip to Heron Mead and The Hide restaurant, and we were both extremely impressed. The fantastic welcome by the owner and staff was so welcoming. What planned as a quick snack turned out to be all afternoon, starting with a coffee, then a succulent Ribeye steak each, cooked by Shelly to perfection. There is a big plate full, 10oz steak chunky chips and healthy salad, devine. We were rather full, and had our second coffee on the terrace, wow what a view over two lakes. We sat chatting to two customers that lived in Skegness and three hours later, we had exchanges details as they were born in our hometown of Bolsover. Overall outstanding, we will definitely be returning.

Relaxing surroundings, warm welcome and an excellent breakfast cooked to perfection. Will certainly be back, especially when the sunshine is out and it's a bit warmer if only to sit out on the decking with a long, cold beer watching the fishermen.

Eaten here from the first day. Had a couple of breakfasts, a couple of evening meals and an excellent Sunday lunch. The food has been delicious and the beer is great. There is a good selection of beers and shorts including a variety of gins.

We popped in for a quick drink and snack. We were greeted by a very friendly lady who was welcoming and very polite. We ordered drinks and a toasted sandwich which was lovely. We will definitely be returning for a proper meal as food looked lovely. The place was spotless and clean. We'll worth a visit.

Visited the newly opened Hide for breakfast. What a little gem this place is and a very welcome addition to Herons Mead caravan park. Beautifully decorated inside, lovely friendly staff and a superb breakfast. The food was lovely. We look forward to trying other items on the menu.

Myself and my friend visited The hide for lunch. I had the club sandwich and she had the pie, omg they were both stunning homemade pie with top and bottom crust. Proper chips the place is beautiful inside and out and the view overlooking the lakes is so peaceful. The staff are so polite and helpful definitely be back.

Lovely welcoming great selection of drinks freindly staff. The food was excellent home made steak pie with chips which I must say was lovely proper home made hand cut chips.
