Myself and my family have eaten here a lot of time me and my mom go on a Wednesday lunch time and have the 2 course for £7 cannot fault it and also me and my husband have had fish and chips on a Friday its a lovely place to go and the food and staff are lovely. Value for money

One of the best Sunday lunches we have ever had. Excellent choice, quality ingredients and served in separate dishes rather than piled on a plate. Really nice atmosphere, helpful staff you just couldn’t ask for any more. Fish and chips on a Friday and midweek specials great too as is just calling in for a drink.

Have been to the Hazelslade several times to eat. This is a good, friendly and old fashioned pub. Val and the staff are great and helpful. Food is home cooked and lovely at good prices. The staff are accommodating serving meals on different plates for parent with dementia, doing smaller portions, taking food home. This is why we keep coming back!

Visited the Hazel Slade today for a quick drink and a meal. Food was cooked by Val and served by Ruby, two kind and polite women where nothing was too much trouble. Thought I’d be cheeky and ask if I could take a dinner away for my imobile grandmother and they accepted the request. Proving the point that nothing was too much trouble. Beef was beautiful and melted in the mouth. Excellent value for money as well as service. Thank you for a truly enjoyable visit.

Typical pub grub, nicely cooked. Pleasant to eat in the garden in the sun and a nice atmosphere inside.

We went to our local again for another amazing sunday lunch. Val and her staff make you feel so welcome,its always nice and cosy in the restaurant area. Our lunch was beautiful again,you get a good choice of vegetables along side mash roasties and 3 lots of meat if you wish. If you dont get to go for lunch, go for fish and chips on a friday night,I highly recommend trying this place out.

A friend recommended here, popped in for late lunch on a Friday fish & chips day, service was quick, friendly staff, chips was beautiful homemade, served with mushy peas & tartar sauce & a lovely pint will definitely go again to try the pie ( which was recommended)

Went along for Fish Friday, first time at the Hazel Slade - traditional pub with roaring open fire. Beautiful big piece of fish with crispy batter and delicious hand cut chips. Smaller version for our daughter and cheese and potato pie for my wife. Make sure you phone ahead to book and let them know about any dietary requirements because they get busy - and with good reason!

Heard very good things about their fish and chip Fridays so thought that we would give it a go. All of the reviews aren't wrong, the best fish and chip meal in the area. Cooked to order so piping hot and the chips were to die for,will definitely go again. My only gripe was that they didn't have any rose wine and the coffee machine wasn't working, but the meal easily made up for that. If you like fish and chips don't go anywhere else, come here.

I’ve heard lots of good reports so decided to try out these legendary fish and chips, and was not disappointed. Lovely nice size fish and fresh hand cut chips. Plates were piping hot which is always a good sign. Steps to get into pub from car park are quite steep so would recommend walking around to the other entrance where I did see a gentleman in a wheelchair enter although it is quite tight through the tables if you are in a wheelchair. Can’t fault the food it was excellent value for money we went for the fish and chip Friday unsure if they offer other dishes on a Friday but I believe they offer other food other days. Will definitely return 😁

Heard good reviews about this place from a local lad relating to good value food and home cooked It’s a dated old pub very tired but homely and welcoming Got to chat with the manager Val who is a real trooper doing her best to provide quality. She has recently had a fire following a recent flat roof upgrade which set her back but continued to keep the establishment open. Following the fire a roof leak has now occurred and ruined a recently fitted kitchen All of these things are stressful and frustrating however the most frustration comes from the company who own the pub Heineken who have very much left her to it and had to tackle everything on her own. The food and drink we had was smashing proper home cooked and great value so well done Val and the team. They do deserve better and Heineken should be ashamed to just think about profit without investing in folk like Val and the property they own and she has to endeavour to work in. The only way this will stay open is if Heineken sort it out and respect Val in the process.

I cannot recommend this place highly enough! It's quite simply amazing and the portion size is more than enough for the healthiest of appetites! Choice of (usually) Turkey Beef Pork and Lamb available served with roast potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding. Also comes with peas, carrots, cabbage, suede, mashSweets are available but we don't do pudding......usually far too full up!

What a tasteful lunch we just hoped into try this pub been back three times now great home cooked food salad always fresh.

What a super find this place is! We've been searching for a new Sunday Lunch venue following the closure of our previous favourite......our search is over! We ordered two turkey dinners and, within five minutes, they were delivered to our table. Four thick slices of turkey on each dinner with two roast potatoes, a Yorkshire pud and stuffing! The separate selection of vegetables was HUGE......mashed potatoes, suede, cabbage, peas, carrots and cauliflower cheese......all this for £7.99 each......AMAZING VALUE !! It's understandably popular so do phone ahead to book your place......you will NOT be disappointed !!!

Stopped here on a circular walk round the Chase. After Friday lunch (partners 'best ever' fish & chips) found a tiny footpath to connect to local golf club and rejoin our route.

Sunday lunch... Excellent food at a good price in a friendly pub with a log fire. What more do you need .. Make sure you visit!

Visited on a Sunday lunch. They offer two sizes of Sunday lunch. Small £5.99 and larger is £7.99. The small one was sufficient for me although my teenage son had the large one. We chose Beef and Turkey, both meats were tender and tasty. Good selection of vegetables and we all enjoyed. Seemed to wait a while for our pudding order to be taken but that’s the only negative. Puddings were a good size and we opted for Lemon Cheesecake, Syrup pudding and spotted dick.Lovely Meal And would definitely return and recommend

Had another fabulous meal, spagbol with garlic bread and chips and the pie and chips. Always excellent home cooked food, love it. Reasonable prices too.

Have eaten here twice and both times the food had been really good. Good selection of food and drinks especially gin. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Worth booking as it seems to be getting very popular.
