Our favourite pub in Cambridge. We've returned again and again over the years, and: - the staff has always been lovely - the pizza has always been delicious - the beer has always been local and tasty - the vibes have always remained great, authentic English pub vibes I would comfortably rate their pizza above several of the dedicated pizza / Italian restaurants I've been to throughout my time in Cambridge.

Does really good wood fired pizza and has a great atmosphere.

Popped in for a drink before Christmas so was a bit busier than normal. The service was prompt and welcoming and didn't have to wait long for food, ended up with a pizza and calzone, despite it being busy. Would recommend.

The general view of our group was that the food was very poor. Cold chips accompanied main meals, miserly amounts of smoked salmon on the salad, no soup of the day on offer. Embarrassed to have taken our group of 16 or so people to this pub which only has good beer to recommend it. I did mention our huge disappointment to the bar staff.....

This is an amazing pub that could easily be overlooked, but you do yo would have missed a real gem. The beer is good quality with a great range and using local breweries. There is also a good range of ciders and wines. The food is quality based on Italian themes, the pizzas are varied and have flavors which defines the pizza it's not bland it's not all the same. They are freshly made in site to order.

If you want good beer, great bar crew, awesome people and a great environment, this is your groove. The entire team was awesome, but props to Bob! Tell them the guy from Panama sent you.

Spot on. A well ran alehouse. Ale houses were for soldier's and builder's introduced by the Romans in 43AD that were taken over by Anglo Saxons. Spot on.

Great brewskis from a local source. You cannot get more Cambridge than this!

Soy local de la zona, pero por alguna razón solo descubrí este pub en agosto, pero he estado casi todas las semanas desde entonces. En mi opinión los martes y miércoles son los mejores días para ir, los jueves y viernes son generalmente muy ocupados, así que recomendaría evitar estos si puedes, pero este pub es un lugar increíble de cualquier manera. 100 / 10 , tengo y seguiré recomendando este lugar a cualquiera que tenga la oportunidad de!

No longer so ideal. The company which runs this pub for Milton Breweries has been putting up its prices continuously for the last two years. Most wine now £28 a bottle. Pizzas have gone up £3 in a year. Not to mention the beer prices.

Absolutely delicious. I've been coming for years and the pizza is ALWAYS the highlight of the day. It's delicious and very quickly served, pizzas are about £14 each and are well worth the value of portions size! The atmosphere is great with games and a bar and books for people, seating inside and out is great as well as parking spots and bike racks! Staff are always nice and if your foods not really fast or your food has a problem etc they always come out personally to apologise. Very sweet people. Make sure you go here hungry!! I recommend the Caramelata Would recommend

What has happened to this pub they used to have tools on there wall from workers a hundred years ago and now they sell rubbish beer so disappointed that pub used to be good

Most disgusting and shameful treatment. We ordered our food@7:45 , the girl at the counter was nothing but rude, not giving even the time to complete our order, rushing for no reason. We felt that bad that we didn't carry on ordering the drinks. After over 1hour waiting we asked our refund, none of them cared or said sorry at all. They didn't offer a single thing, not even a bottle of water. We never had an experience like this, one of the guy at the court said that nobody cared about our food order when the mistake was from them not informing us that the kitchen was busy (I'd not even said that, all of us worked in hospitality and that's NOT busy or a reason to treat customers like that) also, we ordered some vegan cheese option, we PAID the extra for that and just at the end when the refund was processed they informed us that wasn't even available. I'm just speechless I used to love this pub, I even worked there many years ago. Now it's just a never again. Shame

Good outdoor eating and drinking, with large area under-cover with heaters. Well-spaced tables. Efficient service. Tasty pizzas

A great neighbourhood pub, with delicious pizzas (which always seem to be served incredibly quickly!) and a great selection of local ales from Milton brewery. Cosy interior and atmosphere as well, highly recommended.

Owned by Milton Brewery so good choice of their beer. Also does excellent pizza.

Menu very small and expensive for what you get. Place was empty only bar was full of locals. They made being in there uncomfortable. No place to go up the bar to order..loud talking..service was brilliant and we were acknowledged straight away. I will not go there again.

Local pub experience with outside space and great pizza, good ales and selected lager

This is a good pub. The food is nice (though not cheap) and the Milton Brewery beers are good. They have been a bit rude when asking us to leave at closing time. Apart from that, definitely recommend :)

Well priced and tasty pizzas, and amazing local beers on tap plus bottled craft beer. Lots of seating space inside and outside, and plentiful cycle parking. Not overly expensive either. For me one of the best pubs in Cambridge.

Cracking little pub. Only visited as they had a dartboard up ( a very nice one at that) top spec board with the surround lighting which is perfect. Pleasantly surprised. Great selection of drinks and the food smelt & looked amazing. Will make sure to try that next time I visit. Some great locals around also who were fellow dart fans.

Really good pub with a mixture of locals who make you feel welcome and visitors, they have a great selection of locally brewed ales sold at a very reasonable price. I always make it a point of call whenever I’m in the area.

Bit of a loud, unstylish barn. Good , well priced food. Would benefit from a good IPA/APA on tap .

Great local pub with a good selection of local Milton ales as well as guests which change every week. The bar is well-staffed so there's very rarely a wait. The kitchen specialises in pizza but it can be variable in quality, and the burgers are seriously underrated. Lively pub quiz every second Monday. There's live music some Sunday nights. You can go here to avoid the football. Substantial beer garden which is very pleasant in the warmer months.

The dirtiest place I've ever been. I walked in and turned around. Smelt off, looked off. And hygiene rating was 4☆. Definitely won't even pass nearby next time.

What’s great pub… excellent service, delicious food and a great atmosphere.

Normally really like this pub, but very unpleasant experience today. Impolite customers insisting on keeping the door open, despite low outside temperature. This made it very uncomfortable for us. Unpleasant discussions and staff not rectifying the situation. Please, Haymakers, sort this out.

We had as a group had 2 beers each and the third beer was off. The beer was changed with a test having been made and a comment from the member of staff saving it was chalky and turning the sign on the pump to off. The manger was in the back ground and turn the sign on the pump back around to working and told us to next time we need to try the beer before ordering, and the barrel still had another 66 beers remaining. It was like being a small child back at school really nasty given we had been served bad beer. We finished our beer and then noted that the pump had been turned off but we had not received an apology for the tone we were spoken to and the accusation had chosen the wrong beer and wanted a way out. We went drink else were despite the rain. First time I have been to this pub and I was upset by some being stress about the number of drinks not sold due to beer going off. I might as well stayed at work given the way we were spoken too, it was not totally acceptable.

Been here a few times. Pizzas are amazing as is the mac n cheese and selections of beer, cider and soft drinks. Relaxed atmosphere with indoor and outdoor areas to sit. Friendly service.

Great pub experience, excellent selection of modern beers, and one of the best pizzas in town! I've been 4 times now and it never disappoints. Waiting times are a bit long sometimes, but it's because of the demand.

Quite quiet when I popped in on an early Monday afternoon, but welcoming, dog-friendly and spacious. Oh, and a totally excellent beer selection, starting with the always reliable Milton Brewery offerings. I also saw Magic Rock beers or the chalkboard. Next time I shall check out the food.

I visit haymakers almost every tuesday and find the staff there to be absolutely lovely, the atmosphere is very welcoming and I could sit in there for hours just chatting away to both my friends and the bar staff (as long as they're not serving at the time.)

Great pizza and bonus of home made desserts. Recommend the tiramisu and cheesecake.

Nice local pub with a large garden. They serve decent local beers and food. They cant stop the birds from pooing on the tables outside, but it would be nice if they brushed it off.

The pub itself is fantastic…. Unfortunately the girl serving behind the bar is rude, has an attitude and no customer service skills what do ever…. Such a shame

Have had a good couple of evenings here with friends. It sometimes ends up with some tables being pretty loud which can get irritating, hence the 4 star, but not really the fault of the pub

It serves Milton Brewery beers that are usually well kept. Let down by the food though. Pizzas can be ok, when the bases aren't overly blackened, not much else. Could do with a range of simple sandwiches for lunch times.

Possibly the most authentic English pub. Best pizzas in town, relaxed and cosy atmosphere, some nights live music, some nights board games, friendly staff, a must-go pub of you are in town!

Great, traditional, family-friendly, neighbourhood-centred pub. A wide variety of things on tap and a startling selection of very good pizzas for any taste! We saw friends getting together to play board games, families visiting with each other, pals catching up, everything necessary to a good pub vibe. Oh, and the service was ridiculously fast!

Great real traditional pub. Lovely atmosphere and drinks reasonable prices for Cambridge. Staff were friendly. Didn't try the food but am told by several friends that the pizzas are very good as they have their own pizza oven. Other food also available.

Great little pub. Went there for dinner and had a good choice of beggie options and pizzas. Good beer choices, not the commercial ones.

Food was so overpriced and it was disgusting and in low amount. You only get small amount of frozen chips, small bland salad, bread and some meat in it that tastes like a rubber slipper.

A nice old pub on a quiet street a bit north of the Cam, the Haymakers is one of pubs people at my company go to for drinks after work, especially in summer. The garden is a bit drab - not so much a garden as converted carpark - but the pub itself is lovely. The food is excellent - they make very good pizzas.

If you go here, you have to try the pizza, it is absolutely lovely, the chips are amazing too. Also great selection of non-alcoholic drinks.
