Excellent night's stop at "The Hawthornes" en route to the North East. Dee was a very welcoming hostess and even gave us a lift to the pub!! Room was very comfortable and well appointed and the breakfast was very good indeed. Highly recommended.

Afternoon tea £16.50 pp for a group of 11 served in "the shed" was superb on a hot sunny day. Endless tea/coffee and a fab selection of sandwiches, pastries and desserts, all served by Dee and her girls. I suspect we'll be back.

I recently attended a funeral tea at the Hawthornes and it was excellent. The food was all homemade and the quality was superb. The staff continually offered tea/coffee and a table was laid with the refreshment’s. There is a bar for anyone wishing to have alcohol. The soup was especially delicious and the ladies actually served that to us with warm crusty bread. Would highly recommend for a small funeral party

I stayed for 3 weeks at this hotel while working in the area. The lady who managed the place was very friendly, & nothing seemed too much trouble regarding my time. She was very flexible about my various changes in working hours.

The room was extremely clean. It was very spacious. Nice bathroom, good quality towels. Ample provisions for the coffee/tea making facilty. Very nice breakfast. And all of that for a nice price. Great location, close to a lot of nice places to visit. That brings me to the next asset ... the manager ... extremely helpful, gives great advice on places to visit. (I don't quite understand why it's classed as a restaurant unless there is another "The Hawthornes" and I'm on the wrong page. ).

Afternoon tea at its best at this lovely tea room attached to a guest house. Very attentive lady called Helen was our waitress,she was a joy to talk to. The platter when it came was the most generous platter I've seen,sandwiches,pork pies,mini scotch eggs,salad,sandwiches were filled to the brim,so tasty.We had a little cup of soup,yesterdays was pumpkin & sweet potato,home made & delicious.Cakes were all home made & a good choice,there was also scones with jam & cream & a little pot of dessert each,mine was lemon,hubbies raspberry.We ended up bringing most of the cakes home to eat later with a cuppa. Would definitely recommend this delightful tea rooms & would go again.

A great b&b, well furnished and equipped room with attention to detail and a super comfortable bed. The proprietor did everything to ensure our stay was perfect. An excellent freshly prepared breakfast was included at this very reasonable room rate. A great location just off the motorway so easy access to the local area.

Stayed here one night. The resident manager was brilliant but I was disappointed that the snack bar was only open at the end of the week. Thought the room was very expensive.

Just had the best afternoon tea ever, everything was freshly made and delicious, we were going to save some for later, but ended up eating everything, I have no hesitation in giving The Hawthorns 5 stars, and will certainly be returning soon

I came for a family tea and we couldn't have been treated better. The generous host provided a delicious and fresh selection of savoury and sweet. This was topped off by a very comfortable night's stay and tasty breakfast. Didn't want to leave.

My friend and I visited for the first time today (3.3.22) and we were both so impressed. I’ve been to a few different places for afternoon tea and this was by far the best. The place itself is decorated so nicely. The staff are lovely and very welcoming. The food was gorgeous and such good value for money. Excellent veggie options and I love how they gave me and my friend separate stands for our food as I’m a vegetarian and my friend isn’t. When I’ve been to other places they have put everything on the same stand and I’ve been unsure exactly what was suitable for vegetarians and what wasn’t. So this made it so much easier for me and I really appreciated it Thank you Hawthornes, will definitely be back ASAP! :)

Have visited here twice now and can honestly say that its the best afternoon tea we have had. Dee and her colleagues are friendly and welcoming, couldn't recommend enough as nothing is ever to much trouble

The food was sumptuous, the welcome outstanding and as we take our dogs everywhere it is just delightful to find accommodation which not only accepts dogs but is so comfortable for us all. We have reason to be in the are in the new year on various occasions and now we know where to stay. Thank you Dee, thank you!

The food and drinks were spot on, plenty of variety. The owner Dee is lovely she couldn't have made us feel any more welcome. Definitely recommend and will be booking again!

After having afternoon Tea here for my Birthday in July 1 of my friends wanted us to go after showing her the photos & telling her of how lovely this place is! I booked for 3 people for afternoon Tea & was pleased to say it was as excellent as my Birthday one. Dee & her colleague were so accommodating. Welcomed us promptly on arrival. Great choice of Sandwiches like before. As we're the choice of cake's! Ample parking & nice outside comfy seating areas. Thank you again for a lovely afternoon!

So disappointed. We have visited several times and also ordered takeaway afternoon teas during lockdown. We asked to sit outside and the parasol was put up. We ordered ploughman's sharer and a couple of drinks. The parasol blew over and fell onto my head and...

Just been to The Shed at the Hawthornes B&B Knottingley , had the best pizza ever , the owners Paul and Jordan are so lovely and welcoming you really must give it a try, They also do a fantastic Sunday Lunch

This is Paul & Jordan's new restaurant after leaving the Blacksmith Arms. Jordan is once again cooking and what a delight. This small restaurant only seats a maximum of 24. The roast beef was extremely tender with lots of various vegetables. hIGHLY RECOMMENDED .
