Tony's Fish & Chips in Wakefield

Not too bad but very expensive for the food

Called in the other night to try Tony's after having few bad ones from the Whaler lately. The staff were really friendly and the food was awesome. I was a little worried about how brown the batter looked before eating thinking it may have been overdone but found it wasn't. It was absolutely delicious and melted in the mouth. The chips too were fantastic too, most definitely my new go-to.

Only thing that spoils this, is you have to pay cash,and this means going to the hole in the wall and i think they would defiantly do more business if you could use your card,plus service and fish and chips are first class

Lovely little chippy in outwood. Cheap, and fish portion small, but it's enough. Staff are great, will visit again, about £6.00 for a portion of fish and chips.

We stopped here out of the blue on our way home to Blackpool, I must say best Fish & Chips we’ve had in a long time. Lady serving was friendly and welcoming, the price was amazing and even included free scraps!!!!!! We would highly recommend *****

Awful service, unless you’re local and go often, make you feel awkward and don’t help you with anything. Last time I went chips were dry and disgusting. Thought I’d give them a second go, they were busy, I asked if they do fish bites or smaller fish, he just said no sorry cya. Rude. Avoid! Go to Annie’s down the road, much more accommodating and helpful, they also take card! It’s 2024 🙄

I had heard about this place on the local Facebook. I can now see why everyone raves about it. I have never been before and as soon as I walked in, it felt like they knew me. DEFINITELY my new goto chippy.

Went yesterday for 1st time in years.Im fussy about my scallops I like actual potato in the middle rather than just overdone batter with a crisp inside!!!!!Tony's did NOT disappoint!! Beautiful fluffy potato in the middle of lovely crisp batter.I asked for scraps and got loads....very happy.The prices are value for money too.The staff are friendly and make you feel welcome.I will definitely be going back.Great food great service great value.

We bought fish and chips for lunch today about mid- day. The fish was very poor, the batter dark and soggy, it broke as we tried to remover from the wrapper. At £4 per fish it was horrible and unedible.

I don't really know what the other reviews are on about as this is a very average chip shop. While not as expensive as others it shows in the relatively small fish, that was dry with soggy batter, and just about adequate amount of chips. I won't be rushing back.

Best batter ever along with good fish, can't go wrong.

Pros - it was cheaper and the service was good (telephone order). Curry sauce was average. Cons - the special fish was very small compared to other fish and chip shops and both the fish and chips were very soggy. Robin Hood fisheries is more expensive but you get a much larger fish with crispy batter.

I have a chippy pretty much at the top of my street that has supposedly won Y.E.P. awards for the best chippy in Leeds. Im happy to drive straight past it on a 5 mile round trip to use Tony's chippy, everytime. Beautiful fish and chips with the fish cooked to order, so fresh every time. Lovely friendly, genuine staff that greet everyone with a smile and a friendly word or two. Too many chippies are now bordering on £40 for a tea at home for 4 people, not Tony's, incredible value all the way for fantastic quality grub. We wouldn't use anywhere else.

Excellent product priced reasonably - delicious.

My grandchildren came up today from down south. All they wanted was 'Fish and chips from Tonys, they're the best". We got them and they were top class as usual. Silence while we ate. The downside was they are closing tomorrow for 2 weeks. Girls on a high till I told them, then sad faces. They think we are so lucky living near Tony's. We are.
