Lovely pub n grub. We've been a few times and will be going again for sure.

The staff were rude and scruffy looking. We were over charged for our food (which isn’t what it used to be) and they refused to alter the bill when we queried it. The beer was flat so we opted for a bottle of wine instead which was awful and they just handed the bottle over with no ice bucket to keep it chilled. We shall not be going back again my lovely’s.

Unfortunately the Sunday staff were the opposite to the weekday staff. One came across as rude and abrupt, the other two were miserable although polite when spoken to. Would not go back for Sunday lunch, would go during the week though as food is lovely.

Simple home cooked food done to an extremely high standard. Comfort food never tasted so good. Friendly and pleasant waitresses dealt with our every need with a smile on their faces. The chef came out into the dining room to check how the guests were enjoying the food and, without exception, got a huge thumbs up 👍 from every diner. Get yourself down here and pick anything from the menu or specials board and I am confident saying that you'll love it.

Great choice if home cooked food. The chef / owner comes to your table and checks all is OK. Fair range of beers / lagers/ wine, spirits, etc. Staff very pleasant. Plenty of parking.

Last minute booking, bar area to ourselves. Good superb and very quick coming up the table. Home cooked, fresh, hot and superb value for money. 3 courses, two bar drinks and change from £40. Keep up the good work.

One word, "WOW". Food was absolutely incredible, price was very affordable for the quality and size of protons. The waiting staff were absolutely delightful. Will definitely be heading back. Recommend the 'Druken Lamb' and 'Belly Pork". You will not be disappointed.

Booked a table here last night Food was amazing lovely pub full of character .the service was very slow for taking our order , the waitress was stood at the bar just staring into space , tried to get her attention to say we were ready to order finally was getting up when she came over .The other waitress that was serving other table's was really on the ball and quick to ask if anyone needed anything eles , even though she said she normally works behind the bar .hopefully we'll get her next time . I cannot rate the food highly enough I had the pie and my husband had the lamb , beaufiful , then finished off with rice pudding served in a little pan. Complements to the chef . Price was extremely reasonable would definitely recommend.

Stopped by this pub on the way through on a road trip because of the high reviews, unfortunately though yet another disappointing pub. We ordered the chicken special in bbq gravy sauce with cheese, but the chicken was just small and swimming in a bowl of gravy. Tasted like bbq but is nothing like an honest hunter's chicken. Also ordered the bangers and mash, but mash tasted weird to me, didn't go down well at all. We also ordered the steak pie special and veg curry, of which the veg curry was probs the most decent of the lot. Unfortunately what was missing more than anything else though was salt! Basic seasoning would have done wonders for these dishes no doubt. To say on the menu the owner, chef whatever has 40 plus years experience in the catering industry and trained under 2 mitchiln chefs, quite a disappointment. My best advice for anyone considering coming here, dont come for the food. Drinks yes, the lovely staff and good customer service yes, but food no.

Just been to this little gem for lunch Never been in the area before but boy would we return, pity we don’t live in Yorkshire Good, old fashioned, cooked from scratch food, so tasty and lots of options for specialised diets too Great service and reasonably priced 2 course lunch for two, and alcoholic drinks was a very reasonable £38 !!

Food promised much but delivery poor. Liver very over cooked, fish swimming in butter.

Popped in by chance after finding the pub we were heading to didn’t open til 2. What a find, we only went due to the 4.9 Google rating and from outside just looks like a basic boozer. They gave us the last table - the place was full, with good reason. We had the 3 meat dinner and corned beef hash. Hash came in an old saucepan with a massive yorkie on top, mine came with a huge bowl of proper home prepared veg & gravy. Puds were big and old school - proper pastry used for the pies like your Nan used to make. We are still pogged 5 hours later. Cost £33. Give it a try.

Went for Sunday lunch, food was lovely. Table for 6 and enough sides provided to more than fill everyone. Steak pie was spot on. Didn’t have Michael’s signature Belly pork (a must try for anyone who’s not) but will be next time. Well priced too.

Had a family birthday celebration here this lunchtime. Atmosphere, food, drinks and service were splendid. All nine of us thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Well done. Big thank you to Michael and his team.

First time here and we were not disappointed. Our table of 14 people was served fast and correctly. The staff were very accommodating and pleasent. Our food was lovely, and as for the price.. well, 3 courses for £15.

My partner and I went here around 3pm having read the fab reviews. It did not disappoint. On walking in, their expectations in strange times were written and plenty of hand sanitizer provided. Brilliant. We were greeted warmly at the door and had our temperature checked and shown to the table. All staff had masks on. When shown to the table, I was impressed that the menus were on the table under a clear cover to avoid touch and hand sanitizer was on every table. Brilliant. Plenty of choice on the menu plus a specials board. We both had the fish pie which came with a side of thick cut homemade chips, carrots and broccoli. I would go back for the chips alone! The fish pie was divine. Never have I seen such huge chunks of fish in a pie. A much needed, hearty home cooked meal. We have booked to go back tomorrow. I must add the personal service from the Chef was the icing on the cake. He was the only one preparing the meals but still took the time to speak to every table. Very impressed. I can't wait for Sunday lunch.

Visited with a group of friends on saturday 12 September, made very welcome. I asked the chef for a different soup to what was on the menu and he happily obliged. The chef/owner came out several times to see if we had everything we needed. 8 of us could NOT FAULT our various meals , the food was absolutely SUPERB . When we were leaving the Chef/Owner even walked to the mini bus to say goodbye to us. Such a warm welcoming man, plus a great cheerful team . Dont hesitate get down there and enjoy the tasty dishes .

Me and my friend dine at nostalgic kitchen allways. The service is excellent,as is the food big portions couldnt eat all. Chef came out after the meal to ask us if all was ok,which was nice. We will be going back again.Lovely clean place all wearing masks so felt safe there..

Been today for lunch, had a delicious Sunday roast, choice of four meats, veg comes separate, you could have more if wanted, also very good specials. 2 courses for 11. 95,very good value, gets very busy tho, need to book on Sun, Micheal, chef is a lovely man, come out to see if all was OK, could not fault it.

Just returned home from our first visit to this place, proper well cooked traditional British food at very reasonable prices, great service and all in a old style pub so no extortionate prices for your wine! Will definitely be back

We went here for a my sister in-laws 60th birthday meal ... the food was excellent , good quality , hot, tasty .. plentiful .. the staff friendly and helpful .. the chef ( a really nice guy ) came out to see us as we finished our meal which was a refreshing change .. .. the only criticism was there was no space spare between the tables very cramped for those sitting back to back .. .. only a small issue for which I’m sure would of been rectified if mentioned ... we most certainly will be back ... over all experience ... very enjoyable

Great food as always but not enough time between sittings given. No where to sit and wait as a very small bar not designed as a waiting area for the food. This place needs to make up its mind what it is, pub or restaurant, can't be both. I did not finish my dessert as I felt extremely uncomfortable by waiting diners just staring at me eating, not their fault that we weren't sitted until 4.15pm main course 5.25pm was asked before we ate if we would vacate the table for 5.45pm, no problem if our table was ready on time and everything run like clockwork, but life doesn't run like that, a very disappointing experience......Rita Johnson
