Awesome country pub with both spot on beers and cracking food. Awesome garden eating area. Better than other eateries in the area. They have a private area you can book for family occasions. Large car park. Definitely worth a visit

Went for a business mail with two colleagues for authenticated pub food was lovely thank you. Pretty kind chatty and happy seem to be a little bit clicky at the bar area. We had a conversation with some large gentleman at the end of the bar. He was very dismissive of me and made me feel very unwelcome, I think the lady behind the bar Manager. It’s a shame I felt this way but so my colleague we only had a pint and a meal I felt as though we should not be there as it was a local pub. I think I will go elsewhere next time because it be a long day, and we just needed to rest and wind down for a long day of business

I came here for lunch with my work colleagues. The waitress was incredibly rude to me. She made myself and others feel quite uncomfortable as she was that abrupt. It was obvious she didn’t want to be there or we annoyed her by purely existing.

This is a very old pub, very atmospheric both inside and out. Car park opposite the pub, there is seating outside the pub with "old barrel" tables on the path and a large fenced garden with seating to the side, very safe for kids etc. Inside is like stepping back in time, low ceilings, dark brown rustic woodwork and its very popular for a reason!. Being an old pub its made up of small rooms and the main bar area, plus a popular restaurant and a very good selection of beers/lagers. As the sun was shining on a very warm Sunday afternoon we sat outside at one of the old barrel tables on the front path enjoying the warmth of the sun and the sounds of sheep, ducks, geese & birds from a close by farm and it was perfect!. It was very busy but plenty of bar staff, friendly and will revisit to try the restaurant.

Visited for a few evening drinks with our dog . When I went to sit down in the main bar area , the bar manager told me in a very snappy manner that dogs were not allowed in this area but only in 2 side rooms . We have sat in this area before with our dog and so the rules keep changing, but it was the manner in which we were told . The bar tender was friendly but when we asked about a new beer , the manager was very snappy again in her response. This is the second time that we have visited recently and had rude service. Previously when we were sitting at a table in the side racing room , she came to our table and told us that we had to leave that table in an hour as it was reserved for later , again in a very brusque manner . Not a welcoming pub especially if you have a dog which is a shame as it has a lovely old character in a rural village

Just had a gorgeous Sunday lunch, as ever good food and service was good. Never had a problem with the service here, they are no slower than anywhere else and our waitress was professional and friendly. I was sad to see the change in the dinning room though , the large seat at the garden end has been removed , it added lovely character to the room .

The food we all had was good. However the service was terrible. The restaurant was fairly busy but some things are just unacceptable. After 10 minutes we had to ask could we order drinks. The waitress was unaware of what alcohol free drinks were available. When the drinks arrived the one person who was drinking alcohol was served a gin and tonic without the gin. This was spotted by the waitress but come on, that’s basic. Once the starters were served we asked for some water for the table. Twenty minutes later it arrived after we reminded them. The mains were served and were really good. Afterwards we were then asked would we like desserts. We said yes and were given the menus. By this time the restaurant was fairly empty. After another 15 minutes of being ignored we asked for the bill. This place serves good quality food but is really poor in service

I came here with my team from work just prior to Christmas and was so impressed with both the food and the service that I brought my family and some friends this afternoon for an early NYE dinner. Everyone commented how great their meal was, I had a duo of meat roast dinner and the portion size was among the best you can get, the quality of the ingredients was excellent. We live closer to other similar places but I think we'll make the drive here in future. Thanks to everyone at the Hatton Arms.

Not very good service ! We usually only go to the Hatton mainly for drinks and not eating. We booked a Boxing Day meal with family and we treated very rudely by a member of staff. Our children are young adults being 18 and 17 years old. They didn’t fancy anything off the main menu so we wanted to order 2 children’s meals each (to make up for the size) and we were informed we were not allowed to do this as they were over 10 years old ! The woman serving us stated they do this everywhere so I mentioned they do not do this at the London Bridge pub and I’ve never come across it anywhere else either and I explained it’s pretty ridiculous if we are paying we aren’t allowed to order a child’s portion due to the age restriction on the menu. You are cooking the food anyway , why does it matter the age of the person eating it? ! Absolutely terrible. My mother in law also usually order children’s meals due to portion size too. I asked for some Vinegar and she went on to say basically she will get it me after serving everyone’s food in a not very nice way Then when she has served the last dish asked if she could get any condiments so we just reiterated about the vinegar after she blanked me. The staff member had a terrible attitude problem and should not be in the customer service arena. All of the other bar staff and younger waitress were very lovely and pleasant and the cheese pie was very good despite how awkward we were made to feel by this person. Won’t be going back to eat again

We have been visiting the Hatton Arms for over 45 years through its many manifestations and as per any business it’s had its ups and downs, but over the last 12 months or so it’s been back to its best. Was kept waiting at the bar before anyone spoke to us. I had booked a table for two. After about 10 mins we got to order our drinks and food. Drinks came, then we waited, and waited, and waited. After an hour I asked when they thought we might get our meals....we'd both ordered roast beef. After the staff all vanished into the kitchen a female member of staff came to say that our order had been lost as they'd had to change the till roll......thought about this on the drive home, so how comes the drinks came? Pretty soon the food arrived, looked lovely, tasted good too....not enough roast potatoes though, mash just doesn't cut it on a roast dinner. We did wonder if they might have knocked anything off the bill as an apology for the extended wait, no they didn't, not even 1 of the drinks. Food good, service poor. Not sure I want a 30 min drive there again, and thats a pity.

Not sure what happened to a former great place / awful service / great food John I’m not sure what’s happened to your pub, we booked a 4pm table and booked a high chair; we arrived on time today and 3 empty tables their was some confusion with the supervisor who was saying to the young staff just give the them the high table , we explained we needed one of the three low tables for a two year old so could enable a high chairs, we was told they where reserved for a 4:15 bookings who may have a wheel chair; my wife explained that it would be unlikely all three would have a wheel chair and any booked, had they said they had a wheel chair the short in our opinion rude answer was no, we waited and no wheel chairs came, we asked why we couldn’t have a low table the answer was no, we asked about our booking showing the high chair and they said the system allocated , we explained we heard the conversation about being moved and others had been moved and was told it’s the system , we was told to wait 15 minutes for a table to come free, a couple who had finished went to stand up and was told by the same lady don’t rush, we were then ignored whilst every other table was given a smile and request for drinks had to be chased as was desert and the food took 50 minutes , no update or apology and we had to wait and ask for desert but no ice cream , again no table service and we had to ask for the bill whilst the supervisor had a full conversation with the table next to us asking for a positive review , no goodbye or attempt to solve the rudeness and the other three tables who arrived late didn’t have a wheel chair , we gave a tip for the food which as always doesn’t disappoint shame about the service and rude supervisor which made us very uncomfortable with two young children

Well worth a visit this old country pub just oozes character from its several centuries of business. As well as the largely authentic interior there is also a huge beer garden amidst mature trees. Focusing on the drinks and food however, and the beers are well-presented whilst the menu is interesting and diverse. All the meals for our party of nine were well-received being of good quality whilst the service was gracious and very efficient - the conclusion being that the Hatton Arms is run to a very high standard. Definitely recommended!

Disappointed at how unwelcoming this pub is. We had booked a table for 7 but as we were delayed phoned the pub around 6 to change our table to 7:15. We were not told at this point our meal order would have to be in by 7:50 as the kitchen was closing at 8. The website also advised food served until 9pm. The restaurant was quiet and we asked could we sit at a certain table and we were advised the table wasn’t in use and we had to sit somewhere else. The table wasn’t booked all evening so I don’t understand why we couldn’t sit there? One of our drinks didn’t arrive and had to be chased up. One of the party was delayed and we were asked several times what time she would be arriving as they wanted to put the food order in. The waitress serving us was obviously irritated by us and didn’t even try to hide it. She certainly needs training in customer service. The food was ok but very overpriced. We were advised we couldn’t order a dessert as the kitchen would be closed by the time we had our mains !!! We were looking to support our local pubs rather than chain restaurants but not being made to feel welcome with bad service and unfriendly staff means we will not be returning here.

It was my wfes birthday so I decided to try this pub/restaurant having been there some time ago. It was a friday and the pub was very busy with few people in the restaurant side. The menu was interesting but mainly pub grub although the daily board showed more restaurant type food. The wine arrived and was placed on the table without being opened and were left to serve ourselves. I had a main course of moules but had to ask for a bowl to place the shells in. Likewise I had to ask for a bowl of water to clean my fingers on finishing the meal. The prices were a little high for pub food. The staff were pleasant and helpful. It would appear that the owners cannot decide whether the are selling pub food or restaurant food and the staff are not trained properly. There are better place to eat and be served in warrington.

We've visited before just for drinks...but promised ourselves we'd return to sample the food. Sooo glad we did. Always helps when you're sitting in the sun, but the place is quite authentically attractive. The garden is quite large and even though it is facing the road (fenced off for child safety) it was quite peaceful. We arrived quite late in the afternoon...but food was still on offer...so I chose the beef pie which came with chips...my wife picked the pork belly that didn't mention whether it came with potatoes so she opted for skin - on chips from the sides selection. There was quite a wait, which is mentioned in the menu as the pies are cooked freshly. It was worth it! My pie was full of tender tasty chunks of meat with a golden crust served with a tiny jug of gravy. Together with very tasty chips, it was filling and delightful. My wife's pork belly came with a scallop, some tenderstem broccoli and was served on a bed of mash (not mentioned in the menu) so we had extra chips between us. Her pork was succulent, tender and very tasty indeed. A little fatty for me but she loved it. Price was probably a little on the higher side for pub food...but all in all I'd say it was good value and we're likely to return soon hopefully to try their desserts!!!

The Hatton Arms is not part of a chain which I feel helps the quality of food and service. I can highly recommend the quality of food, relaxed surroundings and pleasant and helpful staff. We have been twice recently and on both occasions the quality was the same on both occasions.

The Hatton Arms is now the venue of choice for our lunches after meetings. It is easy to get to and park. It is a traditional pub with history going back to when, apparently, it was the local post office. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the food is good with a good choice and price to suit every pocket. I have been here several times over many years and it is pleasure to return. With so many pubs closing, it is good to see a pub, with history, continuing to serve its community and be successful. On my last visit, I had piping hot mushroom soup (as requested) and superb belly pork. Their chips are some of the best I have tasted! However, they are especially known for their pies, which are also excellent.

A lovely, friendly, welcoming pub with some hidden secrets. Deck chairs in the garden and Valentino the pony to pet for the children just to name a few ... not to mention the log fires In Winter! The most idyllic and relaxing setting. The food is excellent, tasty and well presented. The staff are attentive and Ian the manager ensures that this pub is a pleasure to visit. Reluctantly but deservingly giving 5 stars as we want to keep it a secret it is so good! Give it a try.

The missus and I bobbed n for Sunday lunch yesterday. Overall, quite impressed with the Hatton Arms. Service was good with the staff being quite attentive without being over the top. Food was good, lots of beef on the Sunday lunch, some good puddings too, the Manchester Tart being particularly nice.

Since discovering this place we've been back many times and had great experiences. However not the last two times, hence this review. Don't get me wrong the pies are normally lovely.... however they have had to be returned the last couple of times as someone in the kitchen took them out of the oven too early leaving them hot on the outside and cold on the inside. They were quick to sort out by putting them back in the oven, however the moment was ruined.

We were looking in the area earlier on in the day for somewhere in the evening, we stopped for a drink and decided to return in the evening as we were just staying up the road. Restaurant was very quiet for a Saturday night but still had a nice atmosphere. Had the lamb dish from the specials which I really enjoyed with the braised red cabbage. My partner had the pie, and then finished it off with a couple of desserts. Staff were all very friendly and we had a lovely evening.

Called for the first time with my wife for an evening meat, firstly the good part, the food is very nice although the portion size could do with improving as I’ve never been served a quinnel of mashed potatoe before. Now for the bad part, when we arrived we were speedily show into the restaurant were there was only 4 other customers sat at the same table, we were given 2 menus and the drinks we ordered straight away but from then on the customer service was none existent, we waited for 20 minutes for somebody to take our order but with no sign of staff I went to the bar to enquire if you had to ordered the meals at the bar to then be told that the waiter will come to take our order which he proceeded to do a few moments later, from ordering our food everything went from bad to worse, we were giving up hope of ever getting our food as we were waiting for so long with no sign of the staff, I proceeded to go and enquire at the bar but as I was walking past the entrance into the kitchen I encountered the chef speaking to what I think was the manageress tell her could somebody please serve the food on the pass as it had been there for ages and was going cold to which the manageress replied there’s nothing that she could do as they didn’t have the staff to cover both the bar and restaurant.

We visited here for lunch with friends and had a wonderful time. Food was great, service was great and the beer good too. Love the ‘phone’ community library outside! Borrowed this book and then visited Congleton to see the Treo memorial.

We ate here last week. The food was good and the menu varied. The atmosphere was a touch rushed and the service disjointed. There was an accident with a bottle of wine being broken by one of the waitresses and although apologies were made, no one said anything to my husband about the wine spilt on his trousers, although they did know. I would have expected a free cup of coffee each at least. Still we will take this one on the chin and maybe choose another time to sit away from the wine cooler area.

Had heard the food was home made and tasty. Called for lunch and we had a steak sandwich/ pulled pork sandwich. Both came with chips and salad. Simple, delicious and served by a polite, attentive young waitress. Bar was packed out so we were shown to the resteraunt. A very pleasant visit.

Good food, good service. The restaurant menu had good choices, very tasty. Decor is good and atmosphere is proper village pub. We had a person who followed a vegan diet and despite the menu not having vegan options, we had checked in advance so all our party was catered for.

Love this pub , it’s an ideal walk from Stockton Heath for dogs along tow paths & bridle paths leaving very few roads to walk along , it has a dog friendly Ramblers room with water and dog treats available, all rooms have been recently furnished which are cosy and classic county pub themed , I had a beef Sunday Roast today which was great & the beef was cooked to perfection.

Went for lunch today had pie of the day ..minted lamb. Wife had tuna melt thingy . We had to wait for pie a while to be cooked and by the staff comments and the chefs apologies we were waiting longer than expected by their standards . When the meal came I would have waited a couple of hours for it . It was the best homemade pie I've eaten in 12 months hand's down. And I like a pie !. Crispy chips where as stated . Staff / landlord really friendly Only criticism was wife's lunch was on a board so after two or three attempts to eat her lunch the table was festooned with salad . Will be back soon .

This is everything you want in a village pub. Good ale. Hearty portions. Uncomplicated menu. Satisfying and tasty food. All served with a smile. There is a specials board to supplement the menu and plenty of mid week events making the place a community asset and a natural gathering point. The pub has not been over decorated with old books and toby jugs- it is plain and unpretentious. The suet pudding was steak with real chunks of kidney and a thick flavoursome gravy served with fresh charred leeks and carrot - we asked not to have potato as well. The steak sandwich with crisp chunky chips was generous, although our vegan daughter would not have been happy with the choices on offer. Thank goodness some places are not yet enveloped by the big chains. Excellent value for money.

Visited to look at the amazing Christmas displays that Bents have and they did not disappoint. Everything and anything you can think of for Christmas is here and beautifully displayed. The pop up food counters have now opened and we tried one of the large Yorkshire puddings filled with brisket and it was amazing. Definitely worth a visit especially with children as they will be amazed with all the sparkle of Christmas.

Awful experience very young inexperienced staff cold mulled wine food that came out after we had finished eating that we had waited for and a manager that really couldn’t care less after speaking with me and we wasn’t the only disgruntled customers . Won’t wast my hard earned money there again.

We were a group of 12 celebrating Christmas at the Jolly Thresher on Friday. Everything was excellent. The food was delicious with perfectly cooked turkey and trimmings. The Rock Choir was great and the atmosphere festive; a great start to Christmas. Special mention to our waitress Geli who looked after us extremely well. A memorable evening!

Came here for some drinks with family on our sons 18th. Our son was treated so well by the staff, and had an amazing time(as did we all). Regular customers (whom we had never met before) even joined in our celebrations! The food was delicious too. An absolutely brilliant time and amazing bar staff.
