We visited on a Thursday evening for the Steak Night. Choice of sirloin or rump, both were excellent and tasted breed than some Ribeye I’d bought from Morrisons. Home made Diane sauce too. Cooked to perfection and served with skin on fries. If you like Steak you’ll live the Hatton Arms.

Traditional pub with friendly staff. We called in on a Friday lunchtime when it’s two fish and chips for £14 ….yes FOURTEEN pounds! Not huge portions of course but more than adequate for most people. Well cooked and presented so very pleased. Nice selection of beers available too. Well worth seeking out on a Friday lunchtime!

We visited this establishment yesterday for their first Thursday in the month Curry night. We were recommended by my cousin who's been there for Sunday roast a couple of times and commented on how outstanding the food was. I have to say it did not disappoint. The pub is a very old traditional pub with part of it still retaining its original flagstone flooring. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the food extremely good. The Indian comprised starters with poppadoms and the selection of chutneys, which appear to be home-made and were far better than I have ever had in any Indian restaurant. There were two choices of main, a chicken balti or a beef dopiaza. I opted for the beef which was full of flavour, with plenty of large tender chunks of beef both options were served with a generous helping of Basmati rice and a small naan bread. We will most definitely return and I hope it will be sooner rather than later.

We visited today for Sunday carvery , and I can honestly say it was the best I’ve EVER had ! The beef was cooked to perfection , the roast potatoes were clearly home made, well cooked , fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside , same with the Yorkshire pud , lofty light and crispy . No soggy bottoms here ☺️, and ( drum roll please) the chefs special cauliflower cheese croquettes are to die for . A first for me , and the product of lockdown experiments apparently . A bowl full of perfectly cooked veg and as much gravy as you wanted …. All the staff were friendly , efficient and welcoming going out of their way to put us at ease with our (sometimes ) reactive Labrador . Faultless . Highly recommend. We will be back .

Why the best?I decided to write this review after talking to a neighbour. He’d been out for dinner elsewhere, 5 or so miles away in another village. A bigger establishment but on the face of it, similar.Price:My neighbour commented their soup cost £7. Compare that with our scallops (3), cooked to perfection on black pudding and pea purée £7.95 (we could have had their homemade soup for £4.95). He also said the other place bought their burgers in and still charged £15.00. The Hatton burger, with great garnish will not leave you hungry, is made by the chef, and is £10.95I could go on, but to sum up, the quality here is excellent for the price. My husband can’t get enough of the Hatton chicken (personally, I can’t stand Stilton so it does nothing for me!). I can never cook chicken so tender and I think I’m a decent cook!Quality:Homemade means homemade here. Not homemade in a factory. This is evident as it takes a while to serve and the tables are not booked into the same time slot to give the kitchen time to make the dishes to order, reducing waiting time. Ambience:OK, I’m biased, we love Gretton and the locals here want everyone to. Rarely does anyone leave without having a chat to another diner. It makes for a great atmosphere and your custom is appreciated.

Whenever I am in the pretty village of Gretton I simply have to make a reservation to sample Neil's roast beef lunch available on a Sunday (other wonderfully prepared dishes, starters and desserts are also available) and Julie's perfectly kept draught beers. Prices are very reasonable and all dishes and drinks are great value for money. There is always a convivial atmosphere created by locals and not-so-locals alike. The Hatton is not only a place to eat. It has retained its pubby atmosphere (no flashing noisy gambling machines or music) and welcomes well-behaved pets (and people). It is beautifully presented and tastefully furnished reflecting the medieval origins of this thatched roofed building. On fine days you can sit outside on the terrace overlooking the beautiful unspoiled Welland Valley

Having experienced other restaurants recently, it was important to review the Hatton again. One being eating lasagne in a chain restaurant, clearly produced off site and replicating a 99p supermarket ready meal. In comparison the authenticity of the lasagne, eaten this week at the Hatton needs to be praised. Fantastic flavours, great sized portion and really good value for money. The steak was great too, cooked to perfection, served with a side of sauce, included in the price rather than an extra 2 quid or so as elsewhere. What really made me think, why do we bother going elsewhere is the quality of Sunday lunch. A 3 course lunch is less than the price of a main course in a competing establishment less than 10 minutes drive away. Notwithstanding the decent quality of that pub, it’s not worth the vast extra cost. The Hatton lunch is very good quality too.Don’t bother looking for Sunday lunch utopia, chose the Hatton.

Cooked very well but unfortunately a few mouthfuls in all 3 of our steaks were very tough and sinewy. We went up to Rutland to visit our daughter and her partner in their new house, and then went on to the Hatton Arms for the daughter's birthday lunch. A typical delightful country pub with ancient and more modern pictures on the wall, low beams and a small, snug dining room. As future driving was to be involved we had one alcoholic and three soft drinks, which arrived rapidly, and then each of us had a different choice from the menu. The scampi and chips and the fish and chips were said to be excellent, the 'home-made' lasagne was reported to taste genuinely home-made and my ham and cheese ploughmans was delightful, with a new, crusty roll and a mug of very tasty soup, an unexpected addition to the dish.

Having visited The Hatton Arms many times, I thought it was high time I left a review. In my multiple visits I have never left without being completely satisfied. Everything about The Hatton Arms is superb. Tonight I had the Seafood platter to start which is a very generous portion of Whitebait, breaded Jack Sprats and Filo Prawns with a lovely salad garnish and a dipping sauce. My main was a steak which I had rare, and was cooked beautifully. Served with mushroom, tomato and cress, alongside a portion of chips that top it all off perfectly. Desert was a chocolate and amaretto cheesecake, with a mixed berry accompaniment which got the contrast between sweet and sharp spot on. Service was fantastic as always and I always feel at home as soon as I walk through the door. This visit was a little different as I was part of a party of 12, which required us to pre-order. The food all arrived on time and hot and not a single order was incorrect. To top off the fantastic food, service and atmosphere the selection of drinks available at the bar is very impressive. I love a good ale and there are many real ales available by the bottle and on tap. My pint of choice was Hobgoblin which washed down the food perfectly. If you're looking for somewhere with a great atmosphere, food fit for a King and jus a wholly enjoyable evening out, then The Hatton Arms is the place for you.

We booked to attend the fixed menu on the Sunday for Mother's Day Lunch. Upon arrival we were collected by the staff and taken to our table. The service was of a very high standard and the menu was outstanding. Four of us attended and each had a different starter and a different main course. All were well presented and quite clearly home cooked. We had Wine and Beer with the meal, which again there was a good selection of drinks available. Following our main course we were presented the sweet/desert menu. Again this was well presented and home produced. A superb dinner in a delightful quaint English pub. Highly recommended.

We went here for a winters walk. We sat in the bar and ordered fish and chips.Beer was nice, but all the food came from a box in the freezer. Now that isn't a problem, but the prices charged were too expensive for convenience food, I expected fresh food for these prices.Service nice and friendly but food is cheap and frozen.

New Year's Eve was brilliant. Normally would be at home with friends but this year choose the Hatton for their curry and live music night. Now we have been to the regular curry night( first Thursday of the month) and this was just as good. Hot starters with great homemade pickles and chutney with the pappdoms was followed by a beautiful lamb dhansak with bread and a nice fruit platter to finish. Great food then the great music. Big band music with a great singer who got a lot of people up the join him. Great night great food great pub not great with the hangover but eh can't have everything

I love this rustic pub. It's a place I can go and be assured not just great service but one of the best Sunday lunches you'll ever eat.The roast beef is rib ~ by far the best and tastiest cut. Yorkshire pubs are like your granny used to make. Even the roast potatoes are semi-crispy. But the best part is...the price. If anywhere in the country serves quality food for £9.99 please Message me. 2 courses £12.99 and 3 for £15.99. The pub isn't luxurious, but what does it matter when the food is this good.

Great meal at the Hatton arms. Visited on a Friday for a change and found a very busy pub with a great atmosphere. Skipped having a starter and went for the fish cakes with poached egg they were great, really nice fish taste with fresh veg . The wife had slow cooked pork belly on mash which she loved especially the sauce which was so tasty. Both had a dessert which was also tasty. We both love this pub great food, great beer and a great place to enjoy a night. Would throughly recommend the Hatton arms

If your not a local then don't bother, I went here today with my partner and our dog. I went into the pub at first to check if it was ok to bring the dog in which I was kindly told we could but only in the bar area. I then asked if we can eat in the bar area which I was told we could. I called my partner in and we took a seat as got a drink. I then went up to ask for a menu which I was then told "oh.. Hang on... We've stopped serving now" at 2 o clock in the afternoon?? So I just sat down to carry on having my drink to see at least 3 local people come in who they knew by name and have them menus to order!!! It's just rude, the atmosphere was horrible and I wouldn't go back it recommend this pub!!!

A midweek visit found (after a couple of false turns) the Hatton Arms in a quiet corner of this little village. We ate from the mid-week fixed price menu which was fine but the place lacked a bit of atmosphere as we were the only diners in the early evening.

This was one of my many many visits at lunch to the pub. It's location is lovely in a quiet little village. The owners are always welcoming and friendly. The food is all homemade from scratch I used to love the Hatton burger they have changed this to lamb from beef so unfortunately I won't be able to order it anymore as I dont like lamb. But I highly recommend this pub to eat if you want a quiet setting with homemade food

A group of eight us visited The Hatton Arms for dinner. We were greeted with a very warm welcome and as the pub was busy we were shown to our table in the restaurant where we made our order. The food was absolutely gorgeous, tasty, well presented and plenty of it! If you're looking for a change then I would thoroughly recommend that you try the Hatton Arms. Booking is always advisable first. Enjoy - we did. Thank you everyone.

Working away for business, in Corby, I chanced upon the Hatton Arms, after reading other reviews, it proved to be a very good find! The pub has a cosy feel and the staff are friendly. Please note at the time of writing this review (May 2014), the menu shown the Hatton arms website is different to their current menu. At present they offer either 2 or 3 course set meals. I started with the soup, which was rich and creamy, the chicken was my main, it was nice and I finished off with the ice-cream over warm waffle - which was great!Happy to come back here and try some of their other dishes.

A warm inviting pub with excellent menu. We enjoyed a superb lunch and between the 6 of us tried most of the menu. Consistent great quality and beautifully presented. The service was thoughtful helpful and nothing was too much trouble, bearing in mind we were a fussy bunch. I am not a huge eater and ordered a half portion which was perfect. Thank you for a perfect Sunday lunch.

We were looking for somewhere new to go for dinner tonight. We ummed and arred and finally chose to go somewhere we hadn't been for about 6 years, The Hatton Arms in Gretton. On arrival, the place was just as we remembered, nicely decorated, but still "pubby", with a distinctly historic feel to the place.I ordered a pint of Cumberland Ale and the wife had a glass of pinot while we looked at the menu. After much deliberation, I chose to have the brie wedges, while my wife had the bread and balsamic/olive oil. Both were excellent. The brie was obviously breaded in house and was served with a fresh, tasty salad. The bread was served with three dips, olive oil, balsamic vinegar and garlic with tomato. For main course, I had the belly pork while my wife chose the beef stroganoff. The pork was lovely. Two large pieces of belly pork were accompanied with dauphinoise potatoes, apple sauce, star anise carrot and veg. A small jug of gravy/jus with the pork really set the whole dish off. The strog looked great too, tender steak in a rich sauce, with thin, home-cut chips. We were both quite full, but as so often happens after two fine courses, a third is too tempting to resist! I had the lemon cheesecake, served with mixed berries and my wife had the chocolate brownie. Again, both were excellent. With the above food, pre-dinner drinks and a fine bottle of Malbec, the bill came to £70 ish. Great value for a great meal. We will definitely be back soon.

Literally the best meal either of us have ever had- all in the comfort of a cosy and traditional country pub! Beautiful, good quality, well presented food- cooked to perfection. The menu was reasonably small but brilliant, plenty of choice- both of us would've happily eaten anything from it, it all sounded lovely. Very well designed. I chose the Black Pudding Fritters to start followed by the Lamb Rump from the Special's Board. My other half had the Deep Fried Brie Wedges, followed by the Duck. We finished with the Sticky Toffee Pudding and the Belgium Waffle- both were delicious. Neither of us could fault any part of the meal- it was absolutely gorgeous, such attention to detail! The staff were really friendly, food and drinks came quick, the waitress was attentive but not intrusive, and the wine was really lovely too. For the quality of the food we both thought the price was incredibly reasonable too (I have paid a lot more for a lot less at other places!). The atmosphere was buzzing, but not over-crowded. I really could not recommend this pub enough- excellent all round!

My partner and I came to the Hatton Arms for a Valentines meal, we had visited 2 years before that (we had our little baby boy in the mean time). We knew we were in for a treat because the food here is phenomenal, aswell as the lovely cozy pub itself. We weren’t disappointed. We sat ourselves down by an open fire and cracked open a bottle of lovely cold wine. Out came the starters and not only was the presentation spot on, the food itself was gorgeous, so nice in fact we could have ordered it again. I had the chorizo and my partner had the black pudding, cooked to perfection. Then came the main courses. I had the pork belly and my partner had the chicken tagine, honestly we like to talk but both of us were silent the whole way through apart from asking the other to try a bit of theirs because it was absolutely beautiful. The chefs homemade tzatziki was to die for too. It wasn’t served with any of the dishes that I ordered but I requested it on the side because it’s one of my favourites, it complimented both dishes perfectly and was beautiful. Hats off to the pub and the staff, we were given a really warm welcome and the service was impeccable. The pub location is lovely aswell as the pub itself, chuck in the lovely staff, fantastic service and out of this world grub and its a winning combination! We can’t wait to go back!!!

The hubby and I stayed just outside Corby last weekend and wondered where to go for food on the Saturday night. Went on tripadvisor and this was at the top of the list. We could definitely see why as the food was delicious, pub was warm and cosy and the staff were really friendly. If you have a sweet tooth like me, I definitely recommend the lemon cheesecake for dessert!

We ate here 3 times in 8 days over Christmas and the New Year, specifically Christmas day, New Years eve and New Years day. We've eaten here Christmas day for 4 years now and 2013 was the best yet. Perfect food served in a warm friendly environment making for a completely stress free day. Beautiful appetisers were served with a glass of champagne followed by an unusual but superb chestnut veloute. Our choice of starter was a lovely tea smoked duck and parmesan salad. Traditional mains were completed by a caramelised lemon tart for me and chocolate and amaretto cheesecake for him. Both delicious. Next was New Years eve which can be a non event, but this year was curry night followed by entertainment from Mark, a singer with Rutland Big Band and some friends. The curry was great and the ambience created by the entertainment, just what was needed. The pub got quite busy which was lovely to see. Finally, the season was completed by their traditional buffet breakfast, served with Newcastle Brown if you can face it (other drinks of course) included within the £8.95 price. Thanks Julie & Neil for all your effort. We had a great time.
