We have spent a lovely spring break at the Hare & Hounds.... our first trip to the Cotswolds. Both evenings we selected from the fixed menu and were extremely happy. The staff couldnt have been better.

We had a big group of friends for a get-together for an evening meal. The service from all the staff was exceptional, they remember everyone drinks. The food was served all together and very well presented. Nothing was a problem. Definitely be going back and would like to stay for a night as the surroundings are beautiful. Well done to all.

We had a very disappointing lunch experience. We were seated in the garden around 2:30 PM, looking forward to a quiet meal, when a staff member began mowing the lawn right next to us—despite clearly seeing us dining. The noise was extremely disruptive, and the strong smell of petrol completely ruined our appetite. We asked reception if the mowing could be paused while we ate, but were told they’d have to check with HR. Nothing changed, and the staff member continued working in the same area. Eventually, we asked to be moved to the front of the restaurant just to escape the noise and fumes, but by then, we’d lost our appetite and couldn’t finish our food. We ended up spending nearly £80 for two people to sit in a noisy, unpleasant environment with unhelpful staff and no consideration for guests' comfort.

We stayed at the Hare & Hounds Hotel for a long weekend in the Gamekeepers Cottage. The hotel is lovely and the staff were very friendly and welcoming from the get-go. The hotel is located a very short distance away from Westonbirt Arboretum which is ideal to get out and about especially for nature lovers. The hotel is dog friendly and very clean. Our cottage was quirky and cosy as you might expect from old cottages however still felt spacious. The cottage also had a hot tub which we used as it is very private so you are not overlooked. Tea and coffee were in plentiful supply although a faster boiling kettle wouldn't go amiss. We enjoyed the food at the hotel both within the hotel's restaurant and at Jack Hare's (their pub/bar), and they had spaces within the hotel with a log burning stoves to stay nice and warm. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and would definitely recommend staying here.

The place is amazing, staff is friendly, rooms are really nice and dog friendly. The only thing to point out is that the food is average and could be better.

Unfortunately house keeping is abysmal, teabags left in teapot from previous, dirt on the floor and stairs. Wet dog smell everywhere. Dog friendly means you have to share your peaceful breakfast with the sound on dogs barking at each other and the smell. Menu was limited overpriced and small portions. Breakfast itself was nice if a bit doggy. Ideally placed for Tetbury etc but recommend The Priory there to eat instead

Brought a group of my customers from Perth Western Australia and toured the Cotswolds as part of my Food Tour business. Just emailed to book again for 2025 London & Cotswolds trip! All staff were friendly and helpful. The building is beautifully appointed, with extensive gardens and outdoor areas, rooms were so comfortable and bathrooms well equipped. Best of all for us as food-lovers, was the restaurant with wonderful breakfasts every morning cooked to order and we all loved the dinner we experienced too. Can't wait to come back. A big thanks to all involved during our stay.

One of the best places to stay in the cotswolds, booked the deluxe suite which came with the hot tub in the private garden. Lovely all around and will certainly be willing to come back here again!

Lovely evening here, nice location. All the courses were lovely, and the desert was my favorite. Pleasant music in the background areas nicely decorated we were in the restaurant area. You can stay here too. There was a party going on in the grounds so it was good for larger social occasions.

Not happy. Changed our booking to bank holiday Monday. The establishment calls us to and ask why we didn't attend on a Sunday. Never apologised. Told us the restaurant is closed on the Monday but the pub menu is available and is 'pretty much' the same menu. Absolute nonsense, it is not the same at all. No apology at all. I won't be eating here if the service is like that

We had such a wonderful wedding in April at the Hare and Hounds Hotel in Gloucestershire. The staff were fantastic - so professional, polite and accommodating; everyone said how impressed they were with them. The food and wine was brilliant, as was the service. The team went above and beyond for us, putting lots of thought into small details. We used the library for photographs as it rained all day, which created a great backdrop to our photos with the leather chairs, Victorian windows and book-lined walls. A lot of guests stayed at the hotel overnight and all commented on how lovely their rooms were. It was great to have breakfast altogether with our guests the next day before leaving. We would definitely recommend this as a venue for future events.

The restaurant is clearly overpriced for what they offer. The quality of the food is above average, but portions are tiny and prices too high for what is served. A BBQ octopus according to my experience was boiled and never saw a BBQ! No roast aromas and also not one leg but maybe a third leg in some luke warm gravy. Reaction to a complaint: of course was bbq-ed - well, I had >100 octopus in my life and also cooked myself - so this was a miserable reaction. Later, 15% service charge were added automatically, and this is UK not US.

Now here is a great place to stop and eat. Food choice was excellent and you can see why it has two rosettes. Prices good for this level of cuisine. Very close to Westonbirt Arboretum.

Wonderful!! This is such an amazingly peaceful place, it’s divine! The rooms are so comfy and beautifully decorated. They not only have dog-friendly rooms but the staff are so welcoming to the dogs and they have sausages for breakfast and a HOT Dogwash!!! I could happily live here!! I would like to give a special mention to the young man on reception. We stayed for 2 nights and needed to stay longer but they were fully booked so he called all the other hotels in the group for us. Honestly, he was fantastic! He also took the attached for us as we were celebrating St David’s Day.

After being disappointed by another local Indian with good reviews I feel compelled to advise that this was possibly the best Indian my partner and I have ever had. The meat is delicious and was cooked perfectly, the paneer was very tasty and so were our veg dishes. All the dishes were very well balanced and not overpowered by one specific ingredient giving a great depth to each item. It's a shame we're on holiday and aren't able to come regularly. Service was great, staff are really friendly and attentive. Relaxed environment, and great prices. Highly recommend.
