The Happy Choice in Wakefield

Absolutely disgusting, I ordered salt n Peper chicken,bit into a piece and it was stretchy and stringy (like a kid stretching chewing gum) I thought maybe a bit a fat so tried another it was the same,tried every piece all the same,the curry sauce was far too thick that u could probably stand a spoon straight up in the pot,egg freid rice contained no egg and the rice hard,fried noodles were sticky and the crispy veg rolls were floppy never even seen crispy.will never order from here ever again and word of mouth is the best advertisement ! UTTERLY VILE !

Took over 90 minutes for a delivery that I was told £22.70 to turn into £27.00, food poor delivery service terrible and over charged to boot....

I have been ordering from this takeaway for many many years when Alex owned it. But since he has left the food has not been the same. I have experienced getting orders that I’ve not asked for and the salt and pepper spare ribs have no chilli taste to them. I have asked before if the have changed them, they say know, I say YES. But tonight’s order was the last straw. I’d ordered spring rolls and received prawn toast!!!! I rang them To be told that is what I’d ordered, which I didn’t. And does that sound the same. I’ve never order prawn toast !!!!! As we were eating a knock on the door with spring rolls and a bag of complimentary bag of prawn cracker. We had already received a bag with our order. The young man who delivered them was very apologetic but I sent them back and said I would not be ordering from there again after all these years it is really sad. And asked them to tell them the salt and pepper ribs are not the same and they have cocked up on our others a few times. So Happy Choice —- Happy days and good bye from these customers 👎👎😝😝

Ordered salt and pepper chicken which was nice also ordered special vermicelli it had no taste only burning my mouth off with too much chilli powder to say it was a special I’ve had to dig to find any meat or prawns how they can call this a special 3 small prawns,around 3 small pieces of pork and even less chicken thank god they put onions and peppers in or if would have been empty won’t irder from here again and after checking reviews seems like everyone has had problems

Must say the frozen spring rolls which were raw and wet in the centre and the frozen chunks of spare rib were thrown in the bin. After paying 34 quid for our meals at least three parts of the order were thrown away. For the price they’re asking to give customers frozen not fresh is disgusting to be honest. I’ll stay faithful to Eat 88 on Horbury Road - unfortunately for us it was shut in this occasion and we made the fatal error of going here.

We went to the happy choice for food after a good night and after I ate it to now I’ve been at the toilet non stop.

Ordered king prawn curry and was absolutely fantastic. I,ve never seen as many prawns in such a dish. I will certainly be back.

Rang up to order 6 things, ended up being on the phone for around 10 minutes cause the woman couldn’t understand a word of english? For it then to come with 2 of the items missing.. rang back and we got no apology or anything.. the woman just said ‘later’.. disgusting service and food wasn’t great at all, stringy salt and pepper chicken? I’ll pass

We order from here once a week usually. We ordered our meal at 5.32pm and by 6.25pm it had not arrived. Just about to ring when the delivery came to the door. It was warm but not as hot as usual. I told the driver how long we had waited and he said he couldnt understand why as they werent busy. Noticed a slip in timing and standards since alex has left. ? Different cooks.

Wow what can I say the food from here is the best I’ve had in a long time. The amount of meat and the quality is excellent. Never a bad dish whatsoever

I ordered a Chinese at 5:30pm, By 6:30, it still had not come - after the manager stating it was going to be 40 minutes.I rang up to check where it was and they said that the driver had been out since 6:15 and that he may be lost. I asked the manager to tell the driver to ring me. I heard nothing until 6:45 when the driver rang and asked for directions. He ended up arriving at around 7pm - so he would have had the food in the car for 45 minutes. I felt the food and it was cold. The driver was lovely and he said that he would take the food back to have it re-heated or made fresh. I rang the takeaway as soon as the driver left, to inform them of the situation. I have never experienced such a rude response in a situation that was not my fault. He started by calling me a 'liar' as he said there is 'no way the food could have been cold after 45 minutes'? I assured him that it was and that I did not mind waiting for more to be made. He proceeded to be horrible to me by stating that it was 'not his problem' and that I would have to 'wait a long time for more food'. I suggested that maybe I should be prioritised considering I had waited an hour and a half for food, but He could not understand this. He shouted at me and put the phone down. Do not order from this place. They do not value their customers clearly!! Ended up getting from Sun Bo which tasted a lot better anyway.

We get a takeaway from here every week its the best. Alex is a lovely guy and delivery guys are also friendly. The food is the best, never ever had a bad meal from here. Salt n pepper food is amazing.

I've tried a lot of Chinese takeaways in Wakefield and this is my favourite. The owner is a very friendly guy but it's the quality of the food that stands out. The meat is noticeably good quality, which is a rarity in Wakefield, especially for items like beef, char sui and ribs. Everyone in the area raves about Kowloon, but in my opinion that's because of the cheap prices and gigantic portions. If your objective is quality, then go here... the quality of food here is much, much better and the portion sizes are still more than enough. If you like quality over quantity and price, then give them a try and you won't regret it.

We have been using Happy Choice for a long time now, and I can honestly say I have never had a bad dish. The Vermicelli is always well cooked, the salt and pepper chicken starter is so popular with us we often have to order a couple of portions. Alex is always cheerful, and will accommodate changes to dishes if not too busy. Favourite mains, Kung po chicken, crispy chilli beef, satay chicken and salt and pepper chips.

I've been ordering food from here for a couple of years. All Meals are made as requested including less fat options. I have never had a bad meal. I wait for my daughter to come back from uni so she can have comfort food and not have to cook.The owner is polite and friendly. We usually have it delivered. The delivery staff are polite. Service is good and your given a time for your meal to be ready. Overall a efficient friendly service. Try it!

Tan contentos, nos trasladamos, hace casi dos años y hemos intentado encontrar un buen restaurante chino ya, pero después de tres intentos en varios lugares y uno tan malo que no podía ser comido, estoy contento de haber encontrado aquí. Es increíble, muy contento. Volveremos.

A gods Chinese never had a problem and will keep using the owner is friendly and the service is fast and efficient

The curry was amazing however didn't really like the salt and pepper chips but overall a lovely meal!

Tried here two weeks ago for first time and been back 3 times since.really nice food not full of the usual greece as I've had before would recommend.needs to join hungry house to make payments easier though.

My favourite Chinese takeaway Food always piping hot and fresh. The salt and pepper chips are to die for! Slightly more expensive than other Chinese takeaways however this shows in the quality of food. Delivery always quick and delivery men always polite. The best Chinese in Wakefield! Keep up the great work.

We have been using this takeaway for many years now and always found the food to be of a good standard. We have tried others but always return here because they are so reliable. Ordered our usual again last night (Sunday 7/7) of beef in black bean sauce which my wife loves and I had the beef curry, as usual both meals top notch. Even the delivery man was very pleasant and said "Enjoy your meal" which I thought was a nice touch.Keep up the good work at Happy Choice guy's.

.... in my opinion the best Chinese/Cantonese takeaway around. Every meal we have had from there has been first rate, the portion sizes are excellent and Alex the owner is a lovely man - with an amazing memory for things you may have told him months ago! If you haven't tried it yet, do. I don't think you'll be disappointed

All the family and friends now use this take away, and I must say it is one of the best. You get service with a smile,good quality food and the best chips in Wakefield If you don't believe me try them.

Been coming for years. Great Chinese. Bit more pricey than some but worth it! Alex is really friendly and will change a dish to your own requirements if he can!
