The Hangout in Carmarthenshire

Please note this is now run by Lolfa and is no longer called The Hangout. We stopped off for brunch on our way to Pembrokeshire and were delighted to find such a friendly cafe with excellent food, plenty of veggie options and great coffee. Highly recommended stop off!

Stopped here for coffee and cake. Whilst the staff were pleasant and the cafe was lovely and clean I was so disappointed with the cake. I paid £6.50 for tea and smallest slither (it cannot be called a slice) of cake. Bad show.

Excellent vegan and vegetarian options which are tasty and filling. There are vegan desserts available too which is a bonus! Lovely atmosphere in the cafe and the seating area and well spaced for a comfortable visit.

Great spot in Llandeilo for brunch and a coffee. Lovely modern style hearty breakfast food. We sat outside with the great weather and our 2 dogs. It was a little difficult to find as it’s just at the back of the area past the roundabout but worthwhile once your there.

We visited The Hangout have read other’s reviews and were not disappointed. The food was of excellent quality with vegetarian, vegan, gluten and dairy free options. When I’d forgotten to mention gluten free my plate was whisked back to the kitchen and swapped out for gluten free alternative. All done with a smile and great grace. What a lovely place to eat. We will come again.

The hangout is such a lovely place that I'd always enjoyed taking friends from far to. It's convenient and so well decorated and is dog friendly! However, more recently my visits have been increasingly disappointing. Some staff are really lovely, but there are a few who seem like they'd rather be talking to eachother in the kitchen. A smile would make a big difference. My last meal there was very diaspointing, while the falafel in the flatbread was truly delicious it was a small part of the dish. The flatbread itself was very dry, which was not helped by the sparse amount of yogurt sauce, and very little salad. More salad and sauce would have made the world of difference. It really wasn't very nice as it was. Little things like bringing toast out hot and keeping cakes stored well so they don't go dry would allow customers to enjoy what the hangout has to offer - a lovely setting, historically lovely food and delicious cakes, one of the best chai lattes I've had and the most funky rooms! I hope to enjoy the hangout again, and am sad to write a negative review, but i do so hoping it's constructive so it thrives.

We called into the Hangout last Sunday afternoon,all the tables were taken but didn't have to wait long for one to become available.We ordered our food which was tasty and reasonably priced. Good place for a brunch or snack. Prior to going to the Hangout we emailed them with and enquiry form from their web site with no response,also left a message on their answering machine,again no response,we wanted to check if we had to book a table due to Covid restrictions which as it turned out wasn't necessary. If we had had a response would have probably rated it as excellent.

Arrived with my partner happy to find a cafe open ordered tea and coffee had to find somebody to ask for sugar, when arrived no teaspoons, the promise to come back with the teaspoons not kept and no napkins offered after eating food to wipe hands.

Really welcoming people at the hangout. Love the decor, just something totally different to any other cafe I've been to. Coffee was beautiful. Had a flat white and double espresso. Although I only ordered toast for my little ones, it was beautiful bread with fresh butter and jam. Can't wait to go back. Thank you.

Service prompt and cheerful, food, atmosphere, all good. And reasonable prices too! Quiches, particularly good.

We came here twice during our stay near Carmarthen as brunch was delicious both times. There is an open air warehouse for sitting inside that is very cool or some nice picnic benches outside for better weather. Food was all very good quality and special shout out to the bacon

I heard the reviews about this being so successful & food delicious. Sadly I was disappointed today. I ordered a Posh fish finger sandwich. I’m not sure why it was classed as “Posh” the fish was mildly warm, a scraping of avocado, iceberg lettuce & grated cheese in a brioche bun. I’m not sure why this is classed as “Posh”. Mayo or tarter sauce would have been a good accompaniment possibly as it was very dry. My cappuccino was very sweet, I didn’t ask for sugar so strange? I saw many people & arrive & leave. the tables were never cleaned in between visitors. Hand sanitizer was on each table & most people were wearing face masks while walking around. The disabled toilet would not allow my wheelchair through the door as cleaning equipment was stored in the way.

Visiting Llandeilo reminded me of my teenage years at the end of the eighties, everything closed on a Sunday. Struggled to find anywhere to eat but stumbled upon the Hangout, a quirky little place in a slightly odd setting but with pleasant staff and nice vibe. Ordered a couple of burgers and a chocolate covered bun. The vegetarian option, halloumi and fried egg with a salad garnish was ok but the vegan one consisting of two thin, limp, strangely marinaded slices of aubergine, a dollop of unappealing avocado (?) purée and the same unadventurous lettuce leaf and tomato slice garnish just wasn’t nice at all. Then sadly the chocolate covered bun whilst tasting ok was just a bit too heavy and doughy to really enjoy. I’m sure that the meaty burgers that they probably sell a lot of were far better, plenty of people seemed to be enjoying them, but on this occasion us two non meat eaters left unsatisfied and in one case, hungry.

First time there and was well impressed. Great portions on the food. The food quality is very very. Plenty of choice. You gotta try this place.

We come here regularly and always have great food and friendly service. recently it’s been limited due to COVID but still everything it’s always delicious the smoothies are a must and the posh fish finger sandwich is delicious. The new inside garden is a great idea love it

Despite the delights of covid making things mighty awkward my daughter and I visited the hangout whilst finally being able to see our family (at a distance!)at long last. We'd wanted to eat here a while and the dodgy weather wasn't going to put us off. Although they were operating a reduced menu, the fish finger bap and the cake we had for lunch were both delicious, seriously never had a fish finger butty like that before, wow! We had the added bonus of the eat out to help out scheme reducing our bill too which I'd largely forgotten about. Although there was no indoor seating just yet we had no problem sitting outside even if it was drizzling, it was so yummy we'd have sat in the car to eat! Fab coffee, great service and delicious food. We'll be back again :)

Visited during the "eat out to help out" scheme during August. Government website indicated this establishment was participating in the scheme but we were refused the discount and told the offer was not available until the following week. I then saw the Hangout advertising the scheme on Facebook, the day prior to us being there and inviting people to call in and get the discount. When I responded to this inaccuracy on f/book, my post was removed by the Hangout.I then wrote to the Hangout directly and was accused by Pen & Lee of splashing bad vibes and making accusatory statements all over social media. They said they weren't "pulling a fast one" or whatever I wanted to believe!I am bitterly disappointed that I was supporting a local business and got treated so shoddily and disrespectfully.

Great cafe, unusual global cuisine from the owners' travels. Worth a trip just for the cakes..mmm! Industrial/vacation type environment and they have a barn where they hold events, such as bands. Fabulous!

Best coffee I've ever had! Their veggie brecwast is amazing, as are all their cakes. Highly recommend.

This is the place for breakfast whenever we go down to Pembrokeshire we make a diversion through to llandeilo to the hangout. Lovely staff and lovely food 5 stars 🌟 highly recommended.

This cafe, on the outskirts of Llandeilo, is lovely. Easy parking, great atmosphere and decor, but more importantly.....wonderful food. The staff are all lovely. The coffee was superb....strong.....but not bitter at all. One of the best coffees I have had (really). There is an excellent range of fresh cakes, and a large selection of savoury food. We don't live in the immediate area, but will certainly return here when nearby. Free WiFi. Dog friendly. Thank you all at The Hangout.

Beautiful coffee, fresh and exciting food choices and really lovely staff. My new favourite place. I’m not going to write any more, just go and see for yourself. Dog and child friendly.

Regular visitor to the hangout its a great place to stop for coffee and cake while on a bike ride or just call in for breakfast or lunch. Nice selection of snacks freshly made all great tasting and good quality.

What a great place this is!! Warm and friendly, great food and amazing coffee. The best brownie I've ever eaten!! If your in Llandeilo, you must visit!!

Called in for a coffee with a group of work colleagues it was our first visit and what a delight it was,lovely quirky setting very polite staff although we did not have anything to eat as we were on our way to a wedding nearby we did observe what the other customers were eating and it looked fab although it over 40 miles from where I live I will definitely be returning for one of their breakfasts.

An amazing place with a lovely atmosphere. Exactly what you want from a cafe, delicious food and coffee. A great choice and worth a trip.

Purchased a toasted sandwich consisting of a small well overcooked sausage and an equally small rasher of bacon with raw fat. Whist appreciating that the cafe was very busy at the time this is NOT an excuse to serving poorly prepared food and charging top dollar for the privilage.

Hidden gem on the outskirts of Llandeilo. Great choice of food for breakfast, brunch and lunch. Amazing array of cakes (best rocky road ever) and of course coffee. For any of those who have driven black mountain pass and head west of Brecon National Park it’s a great spot to stop. Even a car wash around the back.

Not he best place to come for a coffee or lunch, not much on offer, I would head in town, there is more to office

Great festive lunch - cranberry sausage roll and beans. Very tasty and good value. Dog friendly venue too.

Such a cute little place, their oat cappuccino was fabulous! Lovely staff too, so friendly! Can’t wait to go back and try the food!

Can't believe I haven't been here before, but will definitely be back. Called in for a coffee following a work meeting, but the place was so inviting and the food looked so good, that I couldn't help but have lunch as well.

Only called in for a coffee but everything required is there. Personally not a huge fan of the minimalist/industrial furnishing genre but this is offset by pleasant knowledgeable staff and good quality fare.

This cafe is tucked away but definitely worth the trip I’m keen to pop in any time I pass the food is excellent very imaginative dishes with LOADS of flavour I’m a massive fan of the vegetarian dishes even though I’m not a vegetarian myself and the cakes are FILTHY!!! The juices are highly recommended. It’s always busy with a great atmosphere and the staff are very friendly.. NOT TO BE MISSED

Beautiful, unique excellent food & the ambience is unique to the venue . A MUST visit & it will make you come back time & time again ! You can even go home with a take away ! As they do both eat in & take away , they are so generous you can even take free used coffe grains home for your garden plants ..... how fab is that ?

Got there on saturday just before 11am and the place was busy, and we managed to get a place by the window on bar stools, which to be fir was very comfortable.

Today I visited anticipating a returning welcome to good service and food. Unfortunately today this was not the case. Iam so disappointed and disheartened to have to write this review. :( Having been here before and loving the warm atmosphere and great customer service I was very excited to bring a friend here for her to try the place out, we arrived and it was busy and was no tables, told to wait maybe 20 mins no offer of a place to wait just stand there at the counter and hope for the best then we finally got a table where we waiting 25/30 mins to be served. when orders were finally taken by a lovely young lady who handled the situation very well. we had some water which is provided but that was not drinkable, dirty glasses and stale tasting. My tea was cold on arriving and my other drink order never arrived. After then waiting another 20 mins for our food we ask how long it will be the women who I think was the manager came over to say the have new staff and are short in the kitchen she was quite rude in her manner and no apology just I shall take the drinks off the bill. So what was meant to be a lovely relaxing meal out was very stressful and disappointing.

We found The Hangout after our dog was at the vets and I asked if there was somewhere local to go for a coffee and they recommended this place.

Excellent coffee and range of veggie options. Mushrooms were delicious, think they were cooked in balsamic vinegar. Good service. Only negative was poached eggs were a bit over cooked so not runny. Worth a visit.

My sister had been going on and on about going here as she had seen pictures on social media so we visited for lunch. It was really busy but we were seated and served within good time. We had coffees (the red velvet coffee is one of the nicest coffees I have ever had, a little like drinking the cake!)

We decided to call in to the Hangout on the way to Carmarthen as my partner likes to find these hidden cafes and this was one of her best she had found.

Had the tastiest marshmallow Rocky Road ever! A large choice of cakes, all looked delicious. Served by a very polite young lady. Great decor, relaxed atmosphere, good prices.

food was mediocre and the price was ridiculous considering the quality of the food. 1 sausage, 1 cold rasher of bacon was not worth it could have had a better breakfast in the haystack. Service was slow and staff were worked very hard.

Very pretentious! Ever so slightly egotistical photos of the owners everywhere!! Rather worrying that in the recent heatwave a lot of cakes were uncovered on the counter. A milkshake with ice cream was delivered and it was warm! A lot of pressure on the obviously young staff! Service very mediocre! I don't particularly want to go to a cafe to see pictures of the owner in various states of undress all over the walls! Very overrated!

Had food here with two fellow cyclists, had heard it was good so had to try it out. First impression was great as they have bike stands. Decor is great with great food display areas/fridges. Had full breakfast and cappuccino, tasted awesome. Will be back soon.

If you’re looking for a relaxed environment with free Wi-fi and good coffee the this is your place. A good breakfast/brunch/lunch venue. Food tends towards a hipster menu with lots of avocado and rather too much balsamic syrup for my taste but the staff are friendly and obliging. A good range of hot and cold drinks with a small selection of hearty cakes. Dog friendly too.

Hard to find but worth it....look for car wash.. It's just next door. We met friends for brunch. Nice variety of food on offer and all freshly made and delicious. Gluten free toast available. Coffee very good. Will return

Delightful cafe on the outskirts of Llandeilo with a great atmosphere, lovely choice of food and drinks and excellent service.

Admittedly it was fathers day and busy....but I was surprised by how bad the breakfast was...burnt toast, cold beans. Half a bacon rasher and hard poached eggs. It could not have been worse .....

Found this lovely and quirky place online when looking for a good food stop in Llandeilo en route to the Brecon Beacons. It’s just off the A40 and B4302 at Talley Road (turn left into a small industrial estate).

Loved the quirky and rustic decor and loved the quirkiness to the menu. We were hungry and had fabulous big breakfasts, it was great. Not quite a 5 as presentation not amazing but fabulous all the same. Cakes and Pies looked fabulous too. Easy parking on a small industrial estate.

Utterly wonderful, food, staff, ambience and quirky with it. Loved it - this is an old style food from scratch kind of place, with veggie and vegan optionjs by the ton x

Found this place by chance, but so glad we did greeted by smiles from staff with them all being very friendly. The coffee is lovely and the breakfast left us lost for words was absolutely lush. Will 100% be returning.

This wonderful cafe is hidden in the back of a small industrial estate. With plenty of parking the location isn’t an issue. Food is great with plenty of veggie options. Coffee is really good and the cakes are a delight.

Came to this fabulous place after a previous visit by my mum and it’s true what they say, Mums knows best.

Fabulous unusual place to enjoy just hanging out and meeting friends or a catch up but also for a great breakfast

Visited second week running. Toast with eggs and smashed avacado superb. The coffee is one of the nicest I have tasted, extremely smooth. Well worth a visit. The staff and owners very passionate which is reflected in the food they serve.

breakefest is vile who ever is cooking needs the sack!!!!!!!!!! coffie is nice tho! food is cold and and taste like mould really bad!

Came here for brunch between Christmas and New year and was really disappointed. Ordered the baked eggs which arrived around 15 minutes after the rest of the table’s order. We were told that this dish took longer to cook but honestly! I could have gone to the shop to buy the ingredients and made it myself in the time it took! When my dish finally arrived, the eggs were so over cooked, my fork bounced off them and the sauce lacked any spice. I will not be rushing back.

Second visit and compelled to review as it is different but classy and quirky in its own way. Easy parking is always a plus. Looks like a warehouse as on a sort of industrial estate but don’t let that put you off. Friendly staff, great menu choice which is not quite your norm. All tastes catered for. Lovely coffee and a fantastic selection of cakes. Will be revisiting as I hike around Llandeilo. Recommended, you will enjoy.

Off the beaten track but easy to find and plenty of parking. Great menu all freshly made to order. Counter full of tempting cakes but too full from the breakfast wrap to try one. Coffee is lovely. Friendly staff. Quirky deco. Will deffo be back.

Good place to go if you want a good breakfast and a coffee / cake. A very "hip" place, decorated so, with a good selection of brunch food.

Wanted so much to enjoy the experience of eating here but even though the food was OK we were sat by the Deli Fridge & the sides (inside & out), bottom were not clean at all. It also looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for sometime, got me thinking if these are the areas in the public area what’s it like where we can’t see.

Going to an Industrial state for breakfast may put you off. But make the effort, Breakfast was lovely, I wanted to try the salads, but will have to wait for next time. My Chia Latte was the best I have ever had

Our first visit today, love the quirky decor. The service was excellent, we explained it was our first visit, we accepted the help offered. We chose the quiche and salad, we weren’t disappointed. The choice of 3 salads was great, every mouthful was delicious. Everyone was so friendly even though it was busy, nothing too much trouble. We look forward to returning to sample the rest of the menu x

In the area and hungry but had the dogs, popped in on the off chance and sat outside as lovely day, the waitress told us we could sit inside if we liked with the dogs! Had a smashing breakfast, food, service, price as usual all excellent. Can’t recomend it enough.

We visited here for a brunch option. We were greated and given a lovely table. A very friendly atmosphere. The decoration around the venue were retro and awesome. Very nice. The food was gorgeous! The names of the dishes were especially funny. Plenty of option and veggie friendly (one of our group is a veggue) lush drinks very fresh. The orange juice especially. Overall a very pleasant experience. Will be back.

I'd been intrigued by this place on Tripadvisor and wanted to check to out so popped in for lunch when I was in Llandeilo this week. I was prepared to have a healthy lunch - which I did and greatly enjoyed - a mixed salad bowl with plenty of vegetarian and vegan choices, but was led astray by their fabulous cakes. I opted for a carrot cake with courgette and avocado frosting which was absolutely delicious (despite sounding unusual, there was little if any taste of the greens in it). All this was served with a very good coffee.

We come here quite often for coffee and occasionally stop for food as well! The service is always friendly and the food is always delicious!

Stopped off for breakfast with my 2 daughters. One is veggie and one a very fussy eater but they were both very well catered for. We had breakfast wraps and scrambled eggs. All yummy. Just one tip. Use a knife and fork to eat your wrap because I didn't and tomato relish dribbled all over my top. Classy!

A great addition to the Llandeilo area situated a bit outside the centre but dont let that put you off. It is a great little cafe with a fun, easy going vibe serving very nice coffees and various light lunches. The staff are friendly and there is ample parking.

We came across this creative cafe whilst internet searching for vegan food. It sounded strange as situated on an industrial estate, however it was easy to find and parking outside was great. I'm vegan and husband is veggie so finding somewhere that suits us both is a bonus. He had a beautifully presented granola with fresh fruit, nuts and seeds. I had minted pea avocado smash on toast, topped with asparagus and pea shoots. Both dishes were excellent. Coffee was excellent too. So good to see a young dynamic couple with a successful business based on high tech and great food.

What more could you ask for? It’s a regular visit for me, whether it’s to spend s little time concentrating on some work, grabbing a quick coffee or for a bite to eat. The menu is just that little big different and works very well. You can’t fault the service too.

My wife and I called on a wednesday at 11.30 for brunch. We were not disappointed. My wife went for poached eggs on toast but added mushrooms and bacon. i went for the rugby breakfast -2 Bacon, 2 sausage, 2 poached eggs on a bed of spinach, mushrooms, baked beans, a small bubble and squeak rosti, tomatoes and toast.

What a find ,came across this gem of a cafe , fantastic breakfast great coffee i had the vodka doesn’t like me breakfast and my better half had the avocado minted pea and asparagus with poached egg, all the food was super fresh and so tasty we will definitely be going back for more. another plus it’s on the way to brechfa so it will now become a regular breakfast stop before mountain biking keep up the great work !

My daughter and I went here for lunch. The staff were so accommodating. We had an amazing lunch (we’re vegans and they did an off menu lunch of falafel wraps for us) All the food looks great. Highly recommended! Nice cake as well!

We popped in for a spot of lunch and were so pleased we did. Great salads and awesome Quiche. Great selection of smoothies.....and very friendly staff.....do give them a go...

This time had the veg wraps and they were delicious, staff very kindly vacated table for us, lots of variety in savoury and sweet dishes and drinks

I had the best lunch today from their salad bar. I didn’t really know what it was that I was ordering but it looked fantastic and tasted amazing, def will be ordering salad bar mix again next time .

Another great brunch and drinks at the hangout. Friendly service but slow at times. During our most recent visit the glass cups and water jug were very greasy and had lipstick stains on. Not usually like the hangout, but hopefully this was just a one off.

We had high hopes for the hangout and had read on there Facebook page that they had vegan friendly options as well as gluten free options. We got there and were greeted by super friendly staff and loved the look of the place. Checking the menu me and my wife decided to go for the veggie breakfast without eggs, unfortunately due to the bad weather they had run out of gluten-free bread for my wife's food. This wasn't a big deal but the food wasn't very substantial and would have been nice to be offered a substitute for the egg's considering that we were charged full price for a breakfast with no egg's or bread. The coffee was excellent (we had almond flat White's) and the service was fast and efficient. Overall we had a mixed experience and wouldn't suggest food for vegans.

It was our first visit and we were delighted with everything. The service was excellent, the food was to die for and they even let my doggie in! Will definitely recommend and come back!

This is a super cafe. Only ever had the veggie breakfast so far, but there are plenty of good things on the menu. Lots of choice for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Full meals, snacks, breakfasts and cakes. Good coffee and excellent choice of teas.

Visited for the first time today after recommendations from friends. Friendly greeting, seated and food selected. Delicious coffee, and every item in the breakfast dish was quality ingredients, cooked and well presented. We both look forward to our next visit. Look the quirky decor x

My husband is a big foodie and he kept on about this amazing food place . It did take him a long time to take me! We finally went a for lunch and was not disappointed, the food was out of this world and the staff were delightful!

Went on recommendation and had a brunch. As vegetarians we had lots of choice, and strange as it sounds it was exciting to have options that include vegetables, and not just loads of carbs. I had planned on the baked eggs, but we're in a bit of a rush as travelling so will have to have then next time as there was a wait for them regarding cooking time. Instead had toast with smashed avocado, egg, asparagus and feta cheese with peas and mint. Stunning. Good coffee too. Looking forward to going back
