Our very 1st visit here & Booked in for the Burns night meal, food was absolutely spot on, total credit to the chef/kitchen staff lot of prep in the background had been done. Surroundings very disappointing, best way to describe this is your placed in a corner, & other non Dining peeps are sat over you & atmosphere was too loud, then whilst your eating half way through your meal the music is cranked up as if your in a night club. So your having a meal & cannot engage in any conversation! Spent £80 tonight in there & frankly not worth it Don't think we'll be in a hurry coming back! Shame as the waitress that looked after us was embarrassed & apologised for the noise increase. Personally they should have put restaurant seating one side of the pub!

Went here with a few friends, my friend ordered the vegetarian curry & I ordered chicken curry, got no chicken plus curry looked liked it had been sat there for a long time (lukewarm) all I got was you have to say you want chicken.. I did a few times, 😡 my husband & two others got burgers, says it comes with corn on cob got non of this just burger small amount of chips & the smallest bit of coleslaw 😡 not good at all, won’t be going back.

Visited out of a mixture of curiosity and laziness. I haven’t been inside the place in years but wanted to see what it’s like after it’s ‘makeover’, very much changed from the dingy pub of old.. and I didn’t want to drive too far.. had a great meal for two, served by Jak the genial barman and Lewis the chef. Then the most fabulous dessert of Chocolate brownie sundae made by Isla. Thank you Isla, you made my week! see you again soon.

Came this evening for family birthday. We pre ordered our food. But waited for an hour and half and they fries are very salty and chicken parmo was cold and didnt taste nice at all.

The food was delicious, the range of cocktails available was excellent and the service was exceptional. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back soon!

Our second visit to The Half Moon for a lunchtime meal did not disappoint. Dan and Amber were very attentive when seating us and taking our order. Compliments to Lewis the chef for top quality and freshly prepared food. The decor and layout provided a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

Our lovely Christmas evening out with the girls was spoilt, due to the pub biting off more than it could chew. 6 of us were allowed to book in for a meal before carols commenced at 6.30. Another event hosted by the pub took priority over our service - which as it was for children, we understood. However, we waited over an hour in a very busy environment, practically sat with Santa and the visiting children, and then were overcharged by clearly stressed staff. It would have been nice for our patience to be acknowledged but instead we were greeted with hostility and a larger bill than expected. In future if there is an event, don’t take the booking. It’s left a sour taste in our mouth, despite the food being lovely.

Called on Sunday afternoon for a roast with my friend. Really good food, cooked by Gary and a friendly atmosphere. Will definitely be back. Sasha was also supper attentive.

Food is lovely in here, staff are really friendly and helpful. Its a great little pub that my littlen drags me down for ice cream to on a regular basis 👀

Booked very last minute for a family meal for my 30th birthday. Did not hesitate to slot us in, and I am extremely thankful they kept serving after 4 to get us in. Abbie and Daniel were brilliant at the bar, and Laura, Isla and Sasha did everything to ensure a speedy service. We were after a table of 40, so I completely understand but 2 meals came about 10 minutes after the other and this is the reason for the 4 star for ‘service’ but honestly it didn’t bother us at all, so grateful & food was lovely. We booked the half moon for Sunday lunch for our little boys 3rd birthday, we are regulars up the half moon for dinner as it is always absolutely faultless we contacted the pub to make a reservation for 37 people, without hesitation they where more than happy to take on the booking. We all arrived, the bar staff Daniel and Abbie where very attentive to all the party, after being seated the waitresses Laura, Isla and Sasha where amazing, always making sure everyone had what they needed, they kept making sure everyone had a drink and made it very easy for people. Thirdly I’d like to thank the chefs Lewis and Gary for the incredible food they served, every single person commented at how lovely the dinner was, I’m sure for such a large party this is a task, netherless they certainly delivered as did all of the team. Once again an amazing experience at the half moon and thank you for making everything perfect and stress free! 5*****

Popped in for breakfast with me mate, Amber on the bar was very welcoming and attentive taking our orders. Gary the chef made top notch grub, sausage, bacon and black pudding all to my liking. Will return.

Had the most amazing Sunday lunch served by the lovely Laura and cooked by Lewis and Gary, beautiful food, food was hot and the amount was enormous! Would suggest investing in more salt and pepper grinders as the girls was having to take off tables to give to other customers, also very congested at the bar area as people were sat having drinks around the bar, making it therefore difficult for the girls and customers to get past to leave when finished and pay for meals or people coming in with reservations, on the whole a fabulous experience as always with excellent food and friendly attentive staff, thank you

Called in for breakfast and was served politely and promptly by Amber behind the bar. The food arrived after about 15-20 minutes and was excellent. Chef Gary came out to check everything was in order. The price was fair at £9.99 for the food and a quid for a cordial drink.

Today was my first visit - Definitely won’t be my last! Food was superb, best Sunday lunch I’ve had for years. Meat was cooked to perfection and veg was lovely. Could’ve done with a bit more gravy but I’m sure if I’d asked it would’ve been provided. Meal was massive and I struggled to finish it all. Maybe a smaller portion option would be good, then I would’ve tried the desert menu too. Excellent value for money. A very friendly bar, staff were very friendly, I was served by Sasha who was very friendly and welcoming. Lewis & Gary the Chefs - well done you exceeded our expectations 😃

My new local pub, and it's brilliant! Good atmosphere, friendly people both sides of the bar, good prices. But most of all my beautiful dog is made to feel so welcome. Probably the best dog friendly pub I've ever been to.

Pub has had a good refurb, staff very friendly and food was really good again as this is my third visit. Sunday lunch is a very TASTY dinner, which a lot of pub Sunday lunch lack. Book ahead as was really busy today.

Been a few times, great food especially on a Thursday with the parmos. When we have been on previous visits the waitress is usually friendly and attentive. Today we were served by a new younger waitress she was slow to take our order, no choice and had no idea what the soup of the day was. Even asked what the soup was she didn’t click that she needed to ask the kitchen. When the food came, which was an hour from arriving to getting main course, she mixed up the plates and disappeared before we could ask for salt, pepper and condiments. We observed the way she spoke to other people as if a chore on her. Maybe have a word and speed up getting orders out. It’s a shame as it’s a really nice place with nice food and enjoy coming in to your usually lovely friendly pub.

I went to this pub recently to enjoy a meal with my family, We love coming in for food but was highly disappointed in the food aspects. I was informed the new chef “Gary” was the one cooking food and not the usual cook. Hairs were found within both mine and my other family members food, multiple of our dishes were messed up and quite a lot of it was overcooked - fries and garlic bread. The wait was longer compared to usual even though the pub wasn’t that busy. Me and my family share the same disappointment and have agreed that we will not be returning to have this new chef Cook for us.

Went for food with my family. 3 adults and 2 teenage kids. Food was fantastic and service was quick. I like the fact food and seating area is set back from the bar area. Great atmosphere and staff were polite throughout. Great value for money and we will be back!

We went for dinner on a bank holiday Monday and were made to feel so welcome from the first minute. We both had burgers (one chicken; one beef) and they were huge. Excellent chips (we swapped out the fries and glad we did) and I made the mistake of ordering a side of onion rings (see photo they were a meal in themselves!) As well as the food being very reasonably priced, drinks are also relatively cheap too. All round a wonderful place and if we’re in the area again we will 100% go back!

Great little place! The food was gorgeous. I had chicken ham and leek pie, hubbie had gammon steak. Both generous portions, I took some home. Staff were lovely, particularly Isla and Lisa! Very helpful and friendly. Will definitely go again!

Eight of us went for bottomless brunch to celebrate my birthday. Food was really good and the three girls that were serving were really helpful and friendly but were absolutely rushed off their feet trying to look after about 30 people that were booked in for brunch.I think when they have that many people booked in for brunch and other customers as well they need to have more staff available. Saying that I would definitely go back.

Very disappointed today had a coffee no spoon no sugar just the basic.older staff member behind bar on her phone texting the whole time.About 6 people in getting food.Staff decided to clean the tables as our food was sitting ready to serve.got the order wrong by the time it came food was barley warm.Not one member of staff came over to ask if everything was ok.watched the next service of food that didn't look hot either.as it was after 2 o'clock I'd had nothing to eat all day so I just ate it . Would not return sorry

Full breakfast £10.99 very expensive ordered a omelette with a hash brown on the side they came out with the food and there was no hash brown left on a breakfast waited 40 minutes for food bacon was poor picture wasn’t as good as it sounded and ordered tomato’s with full breakfast the plate was basically full with beans and the food was very poor other peoples food came out and left while we waited for ours to come out but overall staff were ok but food and the wait were very poor we would have thought we wouldn’t have to wait 40 minutes for food we ordered a sandwich and it came with 1 slice of bacon that came on the top and we wouldn’t be coming again

Restaurant was quiet and service wasn't quick Breakfast bun would if bern lovely if the streaky bacon was replaced with proper bacon. Was expensive in my eyes for a full English and our moccas weren't in cups as pictured on Facebook and weren't hot

Absolutely spot on place for food and drink, first time I've been in since it was rejuvenated from a run down building, but now it's risen like a phoenix from the ashes and looks great inside. Staff are pleasant, the food is great and it is very well priced. This is what other pubs should strive to be. Also has a pool table and dart board with high-quality TV screens from every angle of the place. Hopefully, I will get the chance soon to get booked into their increasingly popular bottomless brunch. I'm not sure if they do smashed burgers, but I'll certainly be afterwards, according to reports.

Came to the Half Moon for my Aunts 90th birthday on 3rd April. Was quite awkward to arrange as I was abroad until the day before!! Arranged for 3.30 service which had to be changed to 4pm which ended up being 4.15pm as my daughter & family got caught by escaped sheep & were held up for a further 20 minutes! The chef did an absolutely fabulous job & the service eventually was second to none. We ate superb food & the apple crumble was to die for! The next day, my husband & myself returned for a parmo, equally superb ,(but I do like creamed cabbage with mine!) All in all, the Half Moon has something for everyone, & will only go from strength to strength. We wish you every success & will definitely be back in June. X

Me and my sister have been going for breakfast for the last 3 weeks, food and service amazing, Amber the server and Declan the chef are a real credit to the place they are super stars, would highly recommend anyone to pay a visit. 10 out of 10

Went with mates for breakfast and it was delicious, well presented and a generous portion. Amber who served us was very nice and cheerful.

We visited for lunch today, fish & chips - massive, double burger, parmo and mixed grill. All meals were top draw and thoroughly enjoyed by all, a big mention for the garlic mushrooms, my wife is a a bit of an expert in these and she highly recommends, chefs Declan & Lewis definitely produced great quality food. Staff were very friendly (Laura & Amber), an extremely pleasant, relaxed dining experience and we will be back!

Just called for Good Friday fish and chips. Greeted by friendly staff who quickly showed us to our seats. Fast and efficient service, the food was superb beautiful fresh white whale of a cod with crispy batter and home made chunky chips. Why queue in a fish shop when you can have them bought to your table. Great value for money. Haven't been to the Half Moon for a few years. What a change, beautifully decorated,warm and welcoming staff. I would certainly recommend and will be returning very soon.

Lovely Sunday lunch and a free dessert for mothers day

Visited today for Mother's Day Sunday lunch and was not disappointed. Well-priced and great value. Yorkshire pudding was great, large but well cooked. Vegetables were beautiful, with loads of flavour. The beef was so thick, it was like a steak! Can't fault it!

Visited this place today on a recommendation from a member of staff from Durham animal feeds. We are busy training our service dog HRH Able Mabel (follow us on Social media). This place was very dog friendly, with water bowls outside, the addition of a dog menu would be amazing! For a little pub, I was over the moon with the quality of the food, which was freshly cooked and lite-bite portion sizes were spot on.

Pleased to get out of the cold and into this bright and warm welcoming pub. Bubbly staff and very pleasant service. Good choice on the menu but for me and my eyesight not the easiest to read had to take a photo and zoom in. Good efficient table service and ordered a basic gammon steak with an egg but plenty of separate extras available if you wish to add and tower up your meal. Asked for a steak knife and was given a weapon but soon made swift work of cutting up the gammon and with a small pot of English mustard the plate was soon hoovered up and devoured. Good value for money My only concern was car parking as the pub is on a busy road but felt fortunate that there was a spaces outside and getting into it caused two drivers to pip there horns in anger in there rush to get home. Getting out of the space was another pray and hope scenerio hoping someone is not speeding and can see my manouvre and not get wiped out. Maybe need to rethink my parking on my next visit as the other dishes coming from that kitchen looked amazing and plenty of people enjoying the food too.

Good food, friendly attentive staff, reasonable prices. This place easily competes well with any local pubs/restaurants can't complain about anything here and would highly recommend a visit or two.

Absolutely, bang for buck, tremendous

Visited last night for Bottomless Brunch and can safely say it was the best one we’ve ever done (and we’ve sampled a few)! Greeted by lovely staff and a great atmosphere in the pub. We each got a glass of Prosecco on arrival and our drinks orders were quickly taken and we weren’t without a drink the whole night! Demi looked after us, ensuring we were enjoying ourselves and regularly checking that we had the drinks we wanted, unlike other establishments where you have to chase staff to get another drink. The food was also incredible - an extensive menu to pick from with breakfast options or light bites. Two of us had a half a parmo, while the other two had the churrasco chicken wraps. Everything was warm and really tasty. We also had desserts which were great too! We stayed for the quiz and the atmosphere stayed fantastic all night. Staff were kind and helpful and couldn’t do more for you. Would definitely recommend booking for Bottomless Brunch or just generally going to the pub for food or drinks. Thank you!

First visit since the pubs revamp. Nice and airy, great menu selection and a splendid range of beers & lagers. My wife & I had food from the light bite menu. Fish & chips & parmo were delicious. Terrific value. Sent pictures to family who were well impressed. Drinks quality were consistent in taste from the first to the last. Barperson Jak was also helpful. Thank you, we'll be back with family.

First time there Saturday morning. Just to try some breakfast. My wife and I were served by a lovely young lady who was excellent and good fun. I had a sausage and hash brown sandwich my wife had sausage bacon and black pudding. The buns were packed and the quality was excellent, although the sausages had a lot of herbs in which might not suit all. Coffees were both very good too. We will return. Oh and great value.

Had a lovely meal as couples. We really enjoyed the choice and the way that everything was cooked fresh. There was great choices for healthy meals been added in January so you can still go out on a diet, although my partner still had the double stacked parmo with thick bacon inside which was a challenge! Staff couldn’t do enough and were very attentive and there was a lovely atmosphere with both the staff and other customers. The meals were reasonably priced and we even stayed for a few drinks too. Will defiantly be back as there was some amazing looking meals coming from the kitchen (especially the fish and chips).

A lovely atmosphere and freshly renovated pub. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Service was quick and the food was unbelievable (especially the soft beef tacos). Would highly recommend for a meal for two, friends or a family meal out. The pub was very dog friendly and even had doggy ice creams and treats on offer. Reasonable prices and a lot of deals on offer for steak nights and kids eat for £1.
