Beautiful Sunday lunch. Great choice, very good quality meal served hot. Portions were ample and seemingly endless potatoes. Veg and gravy. Would highly recommend. Had meal on a busy Sunday 17th December. Really impressed.

We went to christmas lunch with friends. Excellent food , good portions gravey was the best I have tasted. Friendly staff.

Christmas meal night out ALL the food was cooked great. I like my veg cooked, not raw. Loads of extra trays brought out to us of cauliflower cheese, carrots peas etc. extra gravy boats too. Oh, and the gravy was great. NOT watery mix stuff. Home made. Loads of turkey Staff serving and the bar staff very friendly. Will go again.

Just tried a lunch here, wow!!! Lovely food and plenty of it. Had the sharing starter and because he was 2 things short he done it for half price and we didnt even know there was something missing. The service was excellent, Great place totally recommend

Just had an Xmas dinner in the Gwesty, They’re doing that till the end of the month. Last minute thing, the chef actually stayed back to serve us! I thoroughly recommend this place Roast beef Yorkshire pud loads of vegetables all cooked really nicely, Service is excellent too My wife and I are really fussy with our food so a good review from us is a very rare thing. Food here is amazing 👍

Visited the gwesty today after the re opening of the kitchen by my good friend and great chef Stuart Tucker myself and my two grandsons had fantastic meals.. I had the beef lasagne absolutely amazing well done Stu and the giabatta garlic bread was lovely ( huge portion) great value for money. My grandsons both had sausage & mash yet again fantastic meals and they finished off with ice cream. Once again well done Stu for taking this on keep up the good work as a chef myself I appreciate all the hard work and dedication to be able to achieve your goal and from what I seen and eaten today Stu you should be very proud of yourself see you soon Don't know how this review is attached to a previous one of mine pictures of the food isn't from today they are from another visit a while back.....

What a find! Happened to find this gem on Google whilst working in the area. Booked it on what I later learned was the opening night for the new menu/restaurant side of the pub. The set up is quite unusual in that there is a typical pub bar area and a separate restaurant area so you get a separate food and drinks bill when dining in the restaurant, but it is very well run. The restaurant part was cosy and nicely decorated, and the service from the friendly waitress was excellent. Fantastic food, massive portions, amazing prices. We had calamari, prawn cocktail and deep fried brie starters all approx £5.50 each(from memory). All were hearty portions and perfectly cooked. We then had the lasagne with garlic bread and the steak ciabbatta roll with chips. All around £12 per main. The food was perfect. Huge portions of lovely home cooked food with a side of chunky chips. The bread was also absolutely wonderful and from a bakery local to the pub. We couldn't finish our dinners and were very full and happy customers! The chef/owner came out to speak to us after the meal and was so friendly and kind to us. He should be very proud. I honestly can't believe we had such a tasty and substantial meal at such a good price. I wish this place were closer to home but I will certainly come back and would advise anyone living close enough to go there and enjoy 😁

Went to the opening night of new restaurant.July 11 th.group of 4 as a birthday dinner for myself,young waitress was so helpful and pleasant.the food was amazing .portions were huge,the lasagne was amazing,served with artisan bread.it was amazing and really homemade,the chef owner came out to welcome us.he was such a genuine kind person,and a brilliant chef,I really hope he gets the support from locals,as this is certainly a must visit place,thanks for making my birthday so very special,well done .and our good wishes.

No Chef, but went out of their way to make us a sandwich. When these arrived they were much more than just a sandwich. Large, beautiful present with a side salad and a very warm welcome.

Empty restaurant, yet chef would only serve half the table as 2 of our guests were slightly late. Chef was quick happy for us to get up and leave. Will not be back

Had to go to Brynmawr today...not been thee in many years...today was a very hot day and decided to call in for a cool drink ....meu looked nice so decided to have lunch too....blown away by the very high standard of food, all made from scratch. 😋 delicious ! Very friendly staff especially Cal and the chef Simon who made us feel very welcome. After popping in only by chance we will definitely be returning ! Thanks both

As I sit waiting for my dessert I'm writing this review. 10 out of 10 we have had Sunday Lunch it's a carvery and its lovely to . Its a lovely little pub this is the 1st time I have been here but we will certainly be back. Give it a try you won't be disappointed. There's about 9 different puddings so I think I'll have to come back that amount of times to try each one

Booked a table upon arrival there was: No non alcoholic beer No covid Restrictions no masks in situ on any member of staff No draft beer No uniform policy youngsters serving in gym wear No bottled wine only white wine Went to order food staff stated no delivery of food very limited food available No gammon No Mac n cheese No salad No chicken No garlic bread It was like a play ground Absolutely shocking went to weatherspoon at 5 Star service compared to gwesty Brynmawr LOL

The food here is really small portioned and extremely high priced for what we had, each of our meals had a weird taste to it which was not pleasant at all Would not be returning here again.

Had a beautiful meal here today it looked and tasted scrumptious. The portions are generous so much so that I couldn't fit in a dessert!!! I will be back 👌

Lovely food. Speciality nights well worth the money. Thursday Steak nights are very popular (2 x steak and chips plus a bottle of wine £20) perfect for a date night. Helpful and professional staff and it was also lovely to speak with the chef who comes to speak with the diners to check everything was satisfactory. Highly recommended.

Came here for my son's birthday, a group of 11. Plenty of room. Lovely clean decor. Staff friendly and helpful. Food was superb, hot and all served together. Cant fault this pub for food. Was really nice.

Went here for a post-funeral wake. Buffet lunch was exceptional, service was absolutely outstanding. Staff were very welcoming and extremely helpful. Drinks were reasonably priced. Top notch.

Lovely food good service very good all round

Visited with my wife like always off the cuff had to wait for a table which is expected as we didn’t have a booking but by god was it worth the wait. I had Fish and chips but when it came out it was like a whale absolutely massive and it was beautiful fair play. My wife had the Katsu Chicken curry and her words were “it’s the best she’s ever had”. Prices were very very reasonable and the service was superb.. 1 little criticism there wasn’t a very good choice of lager on offer just your bog standard coors light and I think the other was carling. Other than that can’t fault it and will be returning.

Office lunch with the team. The food here is always to a very high standard with large portions. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. My personal recommendations are the burgers and the lasagna. Wheelchair/pram access. Unsure where the WC is. Split over two levels. Table service and card payments accepted. Outside seating with tables also.

From the moment my family and I arrived at the Gwesty we were made to feel welcome and valued as guests. The food was excellent, great value for money and served with a smile. The host was genial and attentive to our needs with two small children wonderful dining experience i will definitely return many thanks to the staff for allowing us a marvellous experience in these difficult times.

Had my son's 17th birthday meal here. We were a group of 13 and we pre ordered our meals beforehand. We had no trouble booking and were sat all together upstairs. The food was absolutely lovely. It came altogether so none of us were waiting. The food was hot and the portions were huge. My nephew ordered the 'Son of a Gun' burger. My god...it was absolutely massive! The food was freshly cooked. Considering it was really busy the staff couldn't do enough for you and always made sure you had a drink. The decor is cosy and has really nice ambience. We had a server Jade and she was second to none. So friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely eat here again 👍

Went to Gwesty last Friday for lunch with my partner - had booked in advance and was told when we were seated that there might be a bit of a wait because already quite a few tables before us, told them no problem we weren't in a rush. I ordered the faggots and peas and my other half had the large haddock and chips- after about 25 mins our meals arrived and wow '- faggots were the size of cannonballs and the haddock was like moby dick ! Food piping hot and service was very good unfortunately we were both too full to try a dessert - we will return x

Had lunch on a saturday in here, food was amazing, great atmosphere continuous flow of people in and out eating. Service was great good choice of food and drink will definitely be returning.

Yet another great meal at The Gwesty. We usually go for Sunday roast, but today had a light (crying with laughter emoji) lunch of veggie burger and chips for me, and faggots and peas for him. Both meals were immaculately presented and perfectly cooked. If I had to offer any criticism, it would be that it was simply too much food. Unfortunately because it was so good, I just had to keep eating it rather than stop when I was full. Naughty Gwesty! Would also be good to have one or two more veggie options if possible, please. Fab staff as well. Top marks.

We visited twice in December for drinks in and around Christmas. Always warm and welcoming and the wine was lovely. Not overpriced. Will be back in January to try the food as it looked lovely.

As always we found the food to be of a very high standard and the service very attentive. We had a leisurely meal no rush with more than ample food per person, I would recommend a meal here to anyone.

myself and the hubby went here today for lunch,never had food here before,we were greeted by a very happy friendly man behind the bar,the young waitress who took our order was also friendly and attentive,hubby had the gammon and he cleared his plate,he really enjoyed it,i had the steak pie,it was lovely,only thing i didnt enjoy were the chips but thats a personal choice..portion size are large and well worth the money..we can't wait to return.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch here today; the pub is warm and welcoming with a varied menu. The service was swift and our waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was tasty, well-presented and the portions were HUGE! What a gem of a pub on our doorstep. We'll definitely be visiting again!

My friend and I booked an early meal (6.30pm) to give us ample time as we needed to leave by 8pm. We ordered a chef recommended vegetarian meal, and it came in reasonable time and, I have to say, was excellent. We had finished our main course when a party of about 10 arrived, our plates were removed and we asked for the dessert menu. We watched all the meals being delivered to the other party, and only then managed to attract the attention of a waitress, only to find that our menu had been forgotten. After another considerable wait we received our desserts, which were OK, and were hoping to have coffee to follow. Another party (6) had arrived and as it was 7.45pm by then, and there was no sign of a waitress, we decided to have a drink in the bar, pay the bill, and leave. My friend tried 3 times to pay the bill but was told they were too busy and we'd have to wait. It was after 8pm by then so we made a joint effort to pay. We were told not to be so impatient, there were people waiting for drinks and we were just holding them up. My reply was that we had to go so we would come in tomorrow to pay the bill, and walked out. They made no attempt to stop us, which wouldn't have been difficult as my friend is disabled. I would love to go back for another meal, but now of course that is impossible. And yes, my friend has gone to (hopefully) pay for what ended up as a very upsetting evening.

The food and the service was shocking, lady in charge very abrupt and unapproachable. Did not feel I could complain about my food without her making a fuss. I had the beer battered fish which was like chewing boot leather and it certainly wasn't fresh more likely to be cheap frozen fish. And at £9.50 it wasn't good enough.
