The Belle Vue Through The Looking Glass in Blaenau Gwent

Me and a friend visited last night, after seeing pictures on Facebook. Upon arriving we were greeted by the barmaid who was lovely. We asked for Pepsi/cola and were given cans, which we thought was a bit odd for a pub not to offer draught soft drink. We both ordered the lasagne, onion rings, garlic bread and garlic mushrooms... Firstly the mushrooms came out a sort of grey sludge, very unappetising and not enjoyable to taste to make up for the way they looked. We ordered two garlic bread portions, one came out with 2 pieces, one came out with 3 pieces and both portions were rock hard. (When we addressed this with cook at the end she said she "realised after" which made us question why she didn't just pop us another slice over when she initially realised..) The lasagne - how these were allowed to leave the kitchen is baffling, when both lasagnes were different sizes, one fuller and one with barely anything in the dish. I completely appreciate home cooking - but consistency throughout dishes, especially if serving to the same table should be key. This was massively disappointing considering we waited one hour for the food to arrive. Owner mentioned she used a homemade cheese sauce but I could only see grated cheese added on to the pasta sheets.. not sure that constitutes a sauce. We expressed our dissatisfaction to the owner/chef/manager who initially took the feedback, but then started to question what we didn't like about the meal, as if the food couldn't possibly not be up to standard. I was even willing to pay something towards the meal but she just repeated to us to "enjoy our evening and Merry Christmas" making us leave the pub feeling that somehow that we had done something wrong... Fully aware I will receive a passive aggressive response back to this review, as seen with any of the other bad reviews for this place.

We visited the belle view as a family which has no baby changing facilities. Poor menu selection which needs to be found on Facebook and when selecting a meal most meals are unavailable. Got served at the bar by an underage girl who was serving underage girls. Premises were dirty. Pop out of a bottle was flat and was charged over £2 for a glass. Would never go there again or recommend.

The staff appear friendly and the setting is nice. Found it quite funny to see a bath with play balls in it as we walked through the door. Felt like a nice atmosphere. I was one of 3 who had starters. I had the garlic mushrooms. Possibly one of the worst dishes I have ever had. Hardly any mushrooms in a thick stodgy bland sauce over half of a roll. Needless to say I couldn’t eat it. But then I had half an hour looking at it before the plate was cleared away. When the mains come out they were nicely presented but not very large portions. The chips were the best part of the meal. My friend had a lasagne which had the richest tomato taste going. It said on the menu lasagne with salad and chips. There was no salad. I had more salad with my steak pie. We was going to have a pudding but decided not to risk it. I felt it was a lot of money for poor food. I left still hungry. Overall, Very disappointing experience and won’t be returning sadly.

Food was perfect had a blue steak and wow was it good ..my wife had lasagne nothing but homemade ,,Girls serving on tables were polite ,well dressed and couldn't do enough for you ..Will be going back soon ..THANKYOU THE BELLE VUE

Food doesn't look like pictures I order blue burger it was missing the mushrooms and onion rings triple cooked chips were dark brown there were 9 of us dining they were slow the first 1 had finished they meal by the time the last person was served the place is in need of a deep clean if I had saw the back room before food had arrived I would not have eaten there we visited 3 months ago all I can say is how down hill the place has gone no value for money over priced dryer up for won't be going there again

What can i say, wonderful welcome and the food! We arrived early for our table but were welcomed to sit in the garden area for drinks! We were seeted then and out food arrived piping hot and tasty to boot! I chose the beer battered cod and it was huge with the most deliciously flavoured batter. The rest chose from the burger menu and were huge and such a large variety to choose from. The decor is both modern and beautiful with a bath of balls and balloon wall for picture oppertunitys. All in all we will be back, a big shout out to Maddie for the fab service also.

We came here for a meal with the family for a 40th birthday party. The owners were so welcoming and could not do enough for us. Food served was lovely - I would recommend the pie! Thank you for a brilliant night celebrating - we will definitely be returning!

Another fab meal at the belle,, burgers and chicken skewers was very tasty 😍Always welcomed with a smile and happy banter! Great service by all the family!! Loving that it’s just on our doorstep! 11 out of 10 love the place

Had the most beautiful Sunday lunch here for my father in law’s Birthday. Food was amazing and cooked to perfection. The homemade cheesecake was unreal and it was a very reasonable price.. Staff were amazing and nothing was to much trouble. Had Sunday lunch at a place not to far away from the belle recently and this knocked spots off it.

Just had food delivery of 2 steak Baguette meals, really disappointed, over cooked steak, mushrooms burnt, very little sauce, been wanting to try this for a while, very overpriced for what we had.

Regular customers, always extremely well accommodated & welcomed. Food and service is 10/10. We always try something new on the menu & all are always amazing! Can’t recommend enough!

Had a lovely family meal at the Belle View on Friday for my mother’s birthday. The food was good and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We all had a really nice evening - thank you! Will return again!

We ordered burgers and loaded fries through deliveroo after seeing rave reviews and tempting pictures of the food. What we received was very disappointing, tepid and soggy.. the burgers were lacking, as in there was only a single pattie when there should have been 2. All the other bits that should have been in the bun were also missing. Same with the undercooked fries, bacon was undercooked too and foul cheese topping, the chipotle sauce was missing. All I can think is that it was probably the last order and I know they had been busy, so could have run out of the bits we were missing, but then throw something else in to compensate? Another cocktail could have made up for it, which by the way was very nice. I doubt we will order again, it was quite expensive for what we got and the quality did not match the price.

Visited the Bell today for Sunday lunch. The food was stunning and very well presented. The staff were so friendly really couldn't do enough for you. We will definitely be visiting again.
