My God, this place is a really hidden jewel of delicious food hidden within a somewhat uncared for row of high street shops. Do not let the appearance put you off because once within it would deserve a Michelin star, if such a thing existed for Asian food. The cook is an absolute genius with an amazing blend of spices and delicate tastes magically interwoven. I'm struggling to find the adjectives to do justice to the food but when I suggested to my brother that it's better than any Indian restaurant I've ever been too, he agreed. I ordered some spicy dishes and he had a mild dish but I loved the sauce his food was in too. Do not hesitate to go to this restaurant. Lastly, if you're looking for vegetarian or vegan food then a variety of these options are also available.

This is still my number 1 restaurant in the Bexhill and Hastings area. Great welcome; efficient service and good value. Lamb can be notorious to get it right but here, they succeed every time. I have been a regular since 2007 and never been disappointed.

My first review of Gurkha kitchen but about my 20th takeaway from them. Honestly - some of the best food my family and I have ever eaten in the area?Every time I visit family in Bexhill we order from here, and it never fails!

This little restaurant with only a few tables is very busy with takeaways. We had a little table for two in the window of this converted shop unit. The service was diffident and perhaps even a little bit nervous. It took two attempts ordering to get the right drinks. We only ordered a main course as we were going to a show after the meal but there was quite a wait before it arrived. I think that the reason for this is that all the meat; in our case, chicken and lamb were cooked from raw for each dish. Most Indian, Pakistani and Nepalese restaurants precook the protein so that it is guaranteed to be tender while maintaining it in biggish chunks. This was not the case here. the chicken and the lamb had been cut into strips and then sautéed before constructing the sauce. The result of this was that the chicken was overcooked and the lamb was crusted and quite a hard eat. The flavours were good but the bizarrely the sauces had been thickened with perhaps cornflour or arrowroot giving the dishes a very odd texture. To my mind, the aubergine side dish was perhaps the best part of the meal. Having said all that it was not expensive; under £50 with drinks. I will not however, be going back.

The food was delicious but service very slow & patchy. Starter plates not cleared, long wait for food & drinks. Nothing one extra member of staff wouldn't fix.

Went here for a meal before a concert at the de la warr. Food was outstanding, massive portions and beautifully presented. We couldn't eat it all. Service was excellent too. 2 of us had 4 large poppadums and dips plus 2 starters 2 mains and 2 large glasses of wine and a pint of cider was £60.00 highly recommend. Outside looks a bit dated/tired but you won't be sorry !!

This super restaurant has been a great favourite of mine for 16 years!! The Nepalise cuisine is renowned for its use of aromatic herbs and spices and is, in every way, quite unlike Indian and Bangladeshi ghi butter enhanced dishes. You will receive a very warm welcome from the staff. A great bonus for the discerning diners of Bexhill is that the Gurkha is now open from 4.00 p.m. on Mondays, when almost all other Eastern themed restaurants in Bexhill are closed. Very highly recommended by me and the many friends to whom I have recommended this restaurant as Bexhill's finest and I offer this positive review based on my own experience of running a busy restaurant near Canterbury, having been trained many years ago by a former restaurant manager, Jean Marie Lauzier, of Michel Roux Jnr's Le Gavroche, Mayfair.

First visit for me and my partner to this little restaurant tonight in bexhill. Everything exceeded our expectations. The food was totally amazing. Such wonderful flavours and taste. Service was excellent. This is a little gem. Will definitely go again. Thankyou to the management and staff at the Gurkha kitchen sackville road Bexhill.

Fantastic food and so good that the next day we wanted more but that's when the wheels fell off, I called and was told we arnt taking orders for half hour because we are too busy, no you can't order for collection in X time call back in half hour. Not good business sense, i ordered Chinese instead.

Really Great! We popped in on a Saturday night and we’re found a table. The food was so good! The spicy dumplings were delicious. And the mixed grill was also excellent. Highly recommended

Absolutely fantastic food in the heart of Bexhill-On-Sea, the mix grill was awesome, paneer chilli 🌶️ lovely and spicy. The guy at the counter and his sister who run the place with their mom are top notch people

One of our favourite restaurants and takeaways. Delicious food. Lovely staff. They always take extra care to check ingredients with the chef to make sure there is no dairy in my food. They even make modifications if possible. We’ve shared this place with so many people - we love it!

My sister and I had evening food at the Gurkha and, as foodies, we enjoyed all the dishes that we ordered. Spicing and flavours excellent and I will return when in Bexhill again.

On a shockingly windy and rainy evening, my sister and I spotted this restaurant and dived in. We didn't order mains but went for Gurkha rolls, mushroom curry, sag aloo, Kwanti dal, 5 fried momo and some garlic naan, all washed down with a bottle of Cabernet. It was all delicious and served by a friendly, helpful gentleman. If we both lived in Bexhill, we would certainly return.

We should have gone in hungrier than we were. The dal and paneer dishes were delicious. We had to get a take-away box as there was too much for us. No complaints.

Haven’t had anything from the Gurkha Kitchen for a long time. We heard that the restaurant had changed hands, so on Father’s Day we gave it a go. Ordered the food on line. Absolutely brilliant. Such depth of flavours with out the over spice that most Indian restaurants use. We are vegan, and would like to see more vegan options ( protein substitutes).

Our first visit to this restaurant & will definitely be returning, really tasty food ,friendly service, a little hectic but hard working with a smile.

Ordered a takeaway. The same dishes we've enjoyed previously. However this time the 3 main dishes were ridiculously hot (spicy) that none of us could eat them, ruined the entire meal. Contacted resturaunt and promised refund for the 3 main dishes only - refund never...

The food was excellent and the food was delivered hot and quickly. The range of food was excellent, from mild through to hot.

Had a lovely meal here, Lamb dumplings for stater were amazing as was the naan breads. The mains we all had hit the spot. Staff were great and really good price.

This is still my favourite restaurant in the whole of Bexhill. Hard working and very polite staff. Takeaways are incredibly popular. Food is excellent: try the lamb dishes too. Aromatic dishes and you choose the level of spice. Highly recommended.

Popped in on Saturday evening for a meal with family. Although strange times we were warmly greeted and no problems social distancing from other tables. We had a starters & mains between us 4 and they were superb. Couldn’t fault anything and along with chilled...

Ordered early for a 7.30 delivery, 7.30 at my door, brilliant service. When the food arrived it was still realy hot and was absolutely delicious. Havent had Gurkha for years and heard it had changed hands so decided to have one! Wow what a good decision, it was brilliant and enough left over for another treat. Heartily recommend this restaurant!

We had our first takeaway from Gurkha Kitchen yesterday during the lockdown, and the food was incredible. Absolutely delicious, so fresh and excellent quality. Quite possibly one of the best, if not the best, takeaways we have ever had. Highly recommend the steamed lamb momos, Kathmandu Curry with cod, mixed grill and the kwanti dahl - all utterly delicious and generous portions. We ordered via just eat but I believe they also take orders by phone, fully contact less too which is great given current circumstances. We will definitely be using them again and look forward to going to the restaurant when life gets back to normal. Thank you!

We found Gurkha Kitchen to a welcoming restaurant with attentive but not overbearing service and very pleasant food...well cooked and decent helpings. Poppadoms recommended! And very handy for the De La Warr Pavilion!

They were very busy and took all of the predicated 2 hour waiting time. I tried to tip the delivery guy but he actually gave me a discount due to delay.The food was disappointing. Bland and small portions. Good parathas. As I've recently been in India perhaps I'm spoilt but the big menu promises much delivering little.

I have been using the Gurkha Kitchen regularly for many years. It changed name and ownership earlier this year but the standards have been maintained and enjoys a very good reputation locally.The service is very friendly and welcoming and many of my friends share this opinion. My personal favourite is the lamb butan.I have noticed that there is a growing interest and demand in their home delivery and take away services.I have no hesitation in continuing to recommend this Nepalese gem.

We visited this on Sunday evening before a concert at the De la Warr. Both of us had their Sunday offer of starter, main course, side dish and rice or naan for £12.95.Very nice friendly and efficient service and the food was excellent including the best garlic naan bread I have ever had.Fantastic value and will definitely visit again when next in Bexhill.

Nothing wrong with the food here. There were bits and pieces we didn’t enjoy.....the poppadums and pickles...the aubergine starter wasn’t great. The curries we chose were not bad but unexceptional.Don’t think I’m going to rush back.

Had the barbecue chicken wings and pork curry. The latter was full of tender pieces of pork and was well spiced. Food was served quickly, service was amazing. Everything was clearly fresh, homemade and flavourful. Would recommend

The occasion was my dear sister-in-law's birthday, and My Lady and myself had traveled from our home in sunny Dorset, to join the family at the Gurkha kitchen. We arrived a little before the birthday girl, so we were sitting and chatting to our charming hosts. It was mentioned that it was a birthday celebration, and within a couple of minutes a banner carrying the legend 'Happy Birthday' was wall-mounted, and little table decorations were sprinkled liberally. Plus point number one.

Attended the Gurkha Kitchen on Friday evening, greeted by extremely friendly and approachable staff. The menu was vast and very diverse range of choice. The food was absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend as a place to eat and will be visiting again!

Yes, it has changed - no longer the 'Gurkhas' it is now the 'Gurkha Kitchen' - and many people don't like change.

We have visited the Ghurkas frequently over a number of years and always enjoyed the experience. We were a little apprehensive when we saw that it had changed hands. However, I am very pleased to say that we enjoyed our visit very much. The service was friendly and attentive and the food was well cooked and full of flavour. The surroundings were a little brighter than before, but otherwise the atmosphere was much the same. We shall certainly go again. It will still be an interesting place to take summer visitors.

Because it's Ghurka, you can have a pork curry. Excellent lamb starter and a huge range of veggie dishes, very good spinach. Keema nan needed more kheema; dishes needed a bit more chilli. Big discount (15%) for collection.

booked to eat here last Saturday as only been once before and it was good, on approaching the building I said to my husband looks different maybe changed hands,when we went in it looked brighter than before nice clean walls,the service was fab and we thought the food was better than our 1st visit ( which we now know was underdifferent management)! we had popadoms,mains,bottle of wine & 2 irish coffees & I asked for some chocolates which the young chap kindly gave us,couldn't do enough for people & very polite,our bill was very good for what we had,so to the reviewer who said it was expensive maybe theres your answer why the others couldn't carryon!! we will deffinately be using again we were so impressed with everything,so thankyou to all staff!

This place is great service great ,food fab and they keep there prices right .Small wish the toilets could be upstairs .But a great place .

We have been dining here for years, even had our wedding reception here but the restaurant has changed owners and now called 'Gurkha Kitchen' and I have to say that the food is average and the not well presented. The service was OK but nothing special. But for me the whole feeling of the place has gone downhill.

Best to visit of an evening when it is more busy - lunch times can be quiet. The food is very tasty cooked on the premises and the prices are very reasonable.

A lovely evening started with complimentary popadoms, followed by starters and mains. I often eat in Aldershot, which has a large Nepalese community, I found this food to be authentic, and the service equally friendly. I find Nepalese food a pleasant alternative to Indian and Bangladeshi. I will definitely return.

Found this by accident when finding our chosen restaurant was closed. What a find. One very spicy meal selected and one mild. Both excellent complimented by great service and accompanied by very good beer.

I have become a regular here, with my partner, as we have found that the service is always friendly and down-to-earth, it's not too expensive, and the food is an absolute delight, plus - that Gurkha beer is very nice.

all 11 of us enjoyed it, for some it was their first experience of Nepalese food. I think some have been converted to the subtlety of Nepalese food. Several have said they are returning again.

I've been to other restaurants describing themselves as Nepalese but the dishes here are different to any I have tried before. So very interesting food, nicely cooked and presented. Some hot (spicy) and some not so much. Good choice of non-meat food too. The service was excellent. Highly enjoyable.

Visited last night before a show and the food was fantastic. There was a good choice of veggie dishes which suits us and the service was also very good. All in all a very positive experience and will definitely visit again

Not the usual Indian restaurant as the tastes are different and very good too. Try the starters as well as main courses to get a full variety of flavours. French white wine was also very good. Very reasonably priced recommend to broaden your experience.

Visited a couple of times now for dinner. Having been to Nepal a couple of times in the past I would say the food here is genuine Nepalese style food. The momo's are excellent. Just need to get hold of Everest beer!!!!

When we went here, we weren't knowledgeable in the type of cuisine they served so we asked for some guidance on the menu and they asked us what we liked, then made some suggestions and I have to say; they were spot on and served us a beautiful meal. This is my favourite restaurant in Bexhill so much so I've been twice in June. Food is freshly made to order and always 100% delicious. Service is great and I always feel welcome. Roll on next month.

Been visiting Bexhill for few years at relatives and always wanted to visit here. Very glad we came this evening. Preferring spicier dishes we were given choices towards our preference. We wasn't rushed and the price at the end was extremely reasonable. £2:25 each for liqueur coffee's was remarkable. Extremely friendly staff and attentive waiter. We will certainly be back. By far the best meal we have had in the 3 years we have been coming to visit. Thank you!

Wir waren hier zum Essen eingeladen.Der Kellner maulte von Anfang an laut rum, da er einen Tisch umstellen musste.Er beruhigte sich gar nicht, und als wir ihm mitteilten, das er uns nicht in diesem Ton anzusprechen habe, meinte er, wir können ja auch gerne das Restaurant verlassen, es gäbe ja in Bexhill genügend andere Restaurants.Dies taten wir dann auch, auf der anderen Straßenseite haben wir das indische Restaurant aufgesucht, und vorzüglich gegessen.

This was our first visit to The Gurkhas and we were met with a very nice welcome.We have had Nepalase food before so a lot of the menu was familiar. Our starters, prawns & lamb dumplings were nice, good sauce with the dumplings.However our mains, a lamb dish and chicken dish, were just bland. Each dish was supposed to be medium, but there wasn't a hint of spice. The lamb was considerably over cooked and the chicken had no flavour as if it had been added to the dish at the last minute. The service was very good, but we are not we would return as the food was not to our taste.

My wife and I having been eating at the Ghurkha since it opened.The owner has an incredible memory and can remember my favourite dishes even after I had been out of the country for two years he knew good start in my books.The lamb is simply the tastiest I have had in any restaurant.The fresh herbs and subtle spicing can be adjusted by the chef to your personal taste trust the owner on his advice as to what dishes compliment each other.The nepalese beers are also excellent.This small restaurant gets it right hence booking advised.

I have been using the Gurkhas once a week for the past few years and have never been disappointed. I largely have the same lamb dish each time and it has always been excellent. You can be assured of a baby-free environment, as it is predominantly a restuarant for older well-behaved young people and adults, which creates a restful ambiance. You can be assured of a hospitable welcome by the owner. Many of his regulars have become his friends, and his restaurant's reputation has been created by a loyal and discerning customer base which extends far and wide. This is NOT Indian cuisine. These unique dishes are based on flavours using a blend of the world's finest spices and herbs, and dishes are cooked in accordance with your choice of 'heat'.

House sitting for our friends and their lurcher we decided this place was a 'must do', during our stay. Just a look at the menu - fantastic. Thank you so much for a wonderful, tasty and memorable meal. We loved it.

The Gurkhas in Bexhill is only small, but they make you feel very welcome. We don't go that often, only birthdays and anniversaries usually, but they always know us. They are very friendly guys, and the food is wonderful. They ask you how you like it and will make little changes for you if needed.

I had been to the Gurkhas a long time ago and had always meant to return, but parking had always put me off. Our visit was on a Saturday evening and the restaurant was quite busy upstairs. We were seated downstairs quite comfortably. Service was steady, but not slow. Since there was only one man serving as well as helping in the kitchen, that was quite an achievement. The food was different from Indian, yet obviously related. The food we had was very good and servings not excessively large, so I didn't feel obliged to over eat! Poppodums and dips are free, which is a very nice touch. It is also notable that the hotness of the dishes can be readily adjusted. The bill was very reasonable for what we had, but I have to say that the ambience is a little lacking, which is made up for with the food to a great extent. I think i would give 5 blobs otherwise. We will be returning.
