One of our frequent weekends away to St Leonard’s and as always our priority visit to see Sal at the The Chilli Tree, Bexhill. There was six of us this time and we had booked a table. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with a very warm welcome and then the culinary delights began. We had a variety of dishes accommodating all spice choices and hotness tolerance across our group. I tried a Rogan Josh for a change and it was perfect. Didn’t want the evening to end but all good things have to end. Now looking forward to our next visit here.

Arrived for my birthday meal, which was booked by my brother, we arrived 10 mins early only to be told we are early and he was busy doing his takeaways, my daughter turned up with my grandson and again the manger/owner said "oh we don't allow children, I told your brother this." he did not? my grandson is 2 and 1/2 and has Cerebral palsy. the way we were treated was unbelievable, WE LEFT, not only did they ruin my birthday but also left a bad taste in my mouth. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

Don't waste your time or energy with this place. Despite booking in advance for my father in law's birthday, we arrived to be very bluntly told that "they weren't even open yet". After confirming the time with the owner, he reluctantly let us in before making every excuse under the sun to not let us sit down, and then rushed us away saying "I've got take away orders to make" over and over again.

Chilli Tree is an absolute gem! I visited for a friend’s birthday, and the whole experience was wonderful. The staff were warm and friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The food was outstanding - flavorful, fresh, and cooked to perfection. The portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable, offering great value for such high-quality food. Thankyou Sala! I will 100% be coming back again.

We have just come back from a birthday meal at the Chilli Tree, the second time I've been. We had the most delicious food, all served by the loveliest manager, who is so polite and very customer focused. It didn't disappoint. Plus they even made me a surprise birthday cake. We had so much food, and only cost £20 a head!! This place is amazing X

The food was piping hot and delicious! First time I have ordered from this restaurant - usually go to the shiplu but with the fantastic reviews I thought I would try somewhere different. Didn’t disappoint!

Back on another weekend break and we have to make a return visit to the chilli tree a priority. No surprises this time, as expected a very warm and friendly welcome, excellent food and service levels from all the staff and especially the owner. Will be back

Had a really crappy week and had a Thursday pick me up with a takeaway - to our surprise we had a call from the owner as he wanted to clarify our order. He said he would chuck some poppadoms, bhajis (insane!) and sag also into our order and honestly it made our week and really completed the meal. Beautiful as always and a beautiful balance of spices. Thank you!

Always generous with their portions, I can't begin to say how much I enjoy the food from the chilli tree.

After hearing only amazing things about Chilli Tree we finally placed an order for a takeaway ordering some of our favourites and a few new dishes for us. After placing our order on a Monday evening and waiting over an hour, our meal finally arrived. Unfortunately, everything went downhill from here. It’s hard to explain how a meal can be so truly terrible but every single bite was just awful. The mixed kebab starter had meat so chewy it was more like a dog toy than meat, if you ever want to turn vegetarian please order this dish…. It’ll turn you away forever. The lamb garlic curry was brimming with oil but stunningly had almost no flavour and contained meat to chewy that to even attempt to swallow would be a chocking hazard. Everything from the undercooked bread, poor quality meat, under-seasoned an tasteless potatoes basically ended up being so utterly revolting that the meal was, for the first time ever, just a total write-off. Maybe it’s just the hype or very high expectations. If you are yet to try it, if the run down exterior is putting you off…. Listen to your gut, it will thank you later!

Amazingly good food, really fresh and flavoursome. Beautifully cooked. Sal is an exceptional host, explaining the dishes, and suggesting ones to try. This is definitely my go to for Indian cuisine. Highly recommend.

Food, service, atmosphere was all 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! They even encourage you to take home what you can't eat and provide you with the takeaway containers. A very positive dining out experience. Well worth a visit.

We ordered a takeaway on Thursday night for 2 people and we were not dissapointed. The quality of the food was amazing. We were also given extra portions of different dishes to try. Fantastic service and would always recommend!

For those of you who are looking to lose weight fast, get yourself to chilli tree. This is because once you’ve had a mouthful of their fine food, you will be spending the next 4 hours on the toilet.

The food in here is second to none. The owner will bend over backwards to make your party a good experience. And if you ask him to do something special for you ( me ) he always comes up with the food to be happy with.

Another fantastic visit to our place to go. Went for a birthday meal with friends and as always Salah was lovely and really takes the time to suss out what you like and comes up with the most amazing food. Delicious every time. A bonus that you can bring your own alcohol too. He even went out of his way to make some lovely food on the house for our dear friend who couldn’t join us due to being in an accident!!! We come here a lot and are never disappointed. Salah is a wonderful host who is highly accomodating and will always have a lovley chat with. Food is just amazing and the variety of dishes is vast. We've been working our way though the menu!

In google It’s shows open untill 11:00pm but we came 9:00 pm they said it closed please correct the timings when you close early

Stopping at a local caravan site just outside Bexhill, delivery was still available. A quick call from the restaurant and a pickup from the front gate was agreed. When the food arrived the driver delivered straight to us. The food was delicious and still piping hot. To our surprise we had a lot of things included which were complimentary including Bombay aloo and onion bhaji’s. Our party of 6 all commented on how nice the food was and would highly recommend a meal from the chilli tree.

Absolutely love coming here, i’ve been in to eat as well as ordering to take away. The owner is so lovely and all the staff are so welcoming. Food is always hot (temp) even when ordering delivery. Recommend to everyone asking about indian takeaway because it’s the best i’ve been to

The Chilli Trees dishes are delightfully succulent. Obviously handmade, not bought in bulk, readymade like so many other restaurants must do, in order to taste so similar. Simply put I am always happy to order from The Chilli Tree.

We had a takeaway this evening, absolutely fantastic food. Piping hot, Salah remembered I love Bombay potato. I didn’t ask request but I got container full of it, was so good. Thank you for an amazing meal and great service. Will definitely, as always, use again 😃 I will also say his delivery driver was out delivering so he took himself out the restaurant to deliver to me. This guy is amazing. He's a real personality and he loves entertaining his guests. He's also passionate about his food and I can honestly say this is one of the best curry houses i've eaten in for a very long time. He's not charging the right prices for the quality of the food - so get in quick before he realises he should double the prices!

What a great find, down here for a few days and fancied a curry. Was welcomed by the owner and treated to a fabulous couple of hours eating a delicious meal. The owner was so attentive and brought us two starters on the house, things we wouldn’t normally order but will in future. Was so stuffed had to have a doggy bag. No alcohol is served but you can take your own. Best wishes from the couple from Portsmouth.

Fantastic evening for a friend’s birthday celebration. Huge choice of food which is always gorgeous and plenty of it. Salah usually recommends something yummy and really tries to find out what you like. He is the perfect host and nothing is ever too much trouble. It’s become our regular place to go now and we can bring our own drinks which is fabulous. I’d recommend Chilli Tree 100%!

Hi, It’s Pat from Delaware (East coast of the US). We are here staying in their flat with our friends, C and G. C grew up in Bexhill (and attended Sunday School in this very building when it was still a church!). Before learning about Chilli Tree we previously had gone to Mowgli on the oceanfront where we were largely ignored throughout the meal (to be fair they had a very large group in the back room to attend). Though the food was okay it was pricey. While looking for a restaurant for my birthday dinner I read reviews on the seven Indian/Asian restaurants in and near Bexhill, and found on balance the greatest praise and positive comments about Chilli Tree and Sal, the owner. We came prepared for his attentive, joking manner, and had a delightful back and forth across a wide spectrum of topics. The food was plentiful, along with a number of free sides. All the dishes were mild at our request due to the palate of one of our party. A Chicken Grill dish (also free) was tender and delicious! Lamb balti, garlic mushroom, chole masala, lamb saagwala all had nice flavor (though the lamb was a bit chewy), and the rice was light and flavorful. Each dish was prepared well, though we did find the Chicken Kurma was very sweet (we are much more used to a savory Kurma back home). Many restaurateurs tend to be personable as it is in their best interest to engage with their customers. Sal is super-attentive, yet does so with aplomb and a good-natured repartee! Chilli Tree will be on our schedule for our return trips to Bexhill !! Thanks Saleh for helping to make my birthday special.
